The smell was putrid.

Venus scrunched her nose as she stood inside the room. Her fingers tapped at an hologram computer emitting from what looked like a watch on her wrist.

It was a small room. A few glass shelves with viles of strange looking liquids, a few whiteboards, a white living room set, a television monitor, and a large desk with a large computer on top.

"Nightwing, you read me?" She said, looking down at the small transparent screen.

"Yes. Did you get into the room ok?" He asked.

"The new password decoder you made works really well," She said.

"Have you found anything involving our investigation?" He asked though the device.

"I don't know. This room is filled with strange viles," She started. Do you want a sample?" She asked.

Nightwing thought about it for a moment. "Alright," He finally answered. "But, be careful with it. We don't know if it's dangerous."

Venus nodded "Roger."

She carefully pulled one of the viles off the shelf. She looked at it, studying the color. White, with what seem to be the strangest tint of green.

She carefully wrapped the vile in protective plastic, placing it in her belt.

Click Click Click.

Venus's head flicked to the door as the sound of the locking being activated. She jumped, rolling under a large desk.

The door opened, and from what she saw, was apparently a man, with plain brown shoes and white slacks.

"Gene must've of left the light on again," The man hissed under his breath. Venus tried to peek, but it was much to risky. She pulled back, trying to take up as little space as possible.

The man sat down at the desk, slipping his feet mere inches from Venus. She held her breath, wide eyed; It was game over if she was discovered.

She listened as the man sipped his coffee and typed away on the computer for what seemed like forever.

She didn't dare move, minutes seemed like hours.

The man's legs suddenly pulled out, and Venus stood still.

Had he noticed her?

The man got up, walking away. She could here him punching numbers into the lock, before the door open. He left, the door opening again.

Venus exhaled in relief, crawling up from the table. She opened the pocket in her belt, checking the tube.

Still there.

She put it back, before looking back at the door. She used the device to open the door again. She peeked her head out, before making a dash down the hall.

She looked over. Two similar hallways, each in a different direction. She Looked back and forth, not knowing which way to go.

She looked back, then towards the row of windows. She really didn't want to waste time trying to bust open a window, but it seemed like her only option.

She got close, before noticing how easy it was to open the windows. She clicked the lock, pushing up the window.

She looked up, before frowning.

Of course it was easy to unlock. It was three stories high.

Venus had never been a particular fan of heights. Or falling. She looked back down, trying to find the courage to jump.

"Hey You!"

Venus turned to see a man pointing at her. She gasped, the man running over.

"Stop right there!"

She looked back down. She tilted, before swallowing and taking a deep breath.

She pushed herself out, jumping out of the window towards the tree. She flailed as she fell, she grabbed the tree, before slipping off and faaling on her back.

she groaned and rubbed her back she got up, hissing in pain. She dusted her off as she got up, before looking around to navigate her way back to the rendevu point.

She ran around the building and into the field where the team waited. She turned her device back on, trying to contact the others.

"Tigress, you there?" Venus asked into her watch.

"Yes. Now where are you?!" Tigress asked. "Your late!"

"I know!" Venus said. "Get the ship ready."

"What-"

Venus turned off the communicator. she focused on her running, jumping ungracefully over rocks and broken corn stalks.

She dashed, finally seeing the ship. She dashed, trying to make it.

"Venus!" She heard Tigress shout. The orange ninja stood in the open hatch of the ship.

She jumped in, Tigress following behind her.

"Where were you?" She asked. Her voice was kind, but firm, like a troop leader.

"I was in one of the labs when a man stepped in," Venus explained. "I hid under his desk for who knows how long"

"Why were you in there so long?"

Venus raised her brows, remembering the tube in her belt.

"I have a sample,"

She opened the pocket in her belt, only to feel broken glass and wetness. She growled, irritated.

"Must've broken in the fall..." She huffed, furrowing her brows.

Tigress sighed. "It's alright; For now that is," She muttered.

Venus looked down, feeling bad. She knew this mission was heading in the wrong direction, but she didn't expect it to end up this poor.

She sighed, taking a seat. She probably should've sat before they had taken off, but there really wasn't any time.

"It's ok,"

Venus turned to see Impulse sitting beside her.

"Not it's not; I should've been more careful," She complained.

"Did you really expect to solve this investigation in one day?" Impulse asked.

Venus nodded adamantly.

"I guess you have a point," Venus admitted.

"Good," Impulse smiled. He looked down at her for a moment. "You really should take that belt off," He informed.

"Oh yeah," Venus remembered. She threw off her belt, remembering the leaked chemicals inside.

"Thanks,"

"Don't mention it," He shrugged. He looked back to the belt on the floor. "What else was in the room?"

Venus scratched her head. "More viles. Pretty much the same thing." Venus explained. "The computer though. It seemed very advanced; Might be leftover Reach tech," She concluded.

"Really?" Impulse asked.

"I don't know," Venus shrugged. "Didn't get much of a view."

"So, where are you going after this?" Impulse asked.

Venus looked up, remembering. "Canary's place."

Impulse smiled. "You live with Canary?" He questioned, sounding more enthusiastic then before.

"rolled her eyes.

"Yes," Venus said. "I've acually known her for a long time. She was an older apprentice to my mentor."

"That's cool," Impulse smiled. "It must be cool to live with someone like her."

"Ya..." Venus trailed off. She could never admit , despite how much she cared for her, how jealous she was of the blonde.

Strong, super skilled, the women always impressed when she visited. Venus only wished she could be like that.

"Ya, it's great," She said sheepishly.

Venus laid in her bed, covering herself with blankets. The bed was soft, and warm, and cozy. It was a different warmth. Not her usually heat, but something so much more secure; Like a protective shield.

She pulled the covers over her head; A habit she never grew out of as a child. Something about it was very safe feeling.

"I sucked today," She murmured to herself. She looked around the moonlit room. The walls were a pale color, and it had yet to be decorated besides a dresser and night stand.

Honestly, Venus wasn't enthusiastic about being a hero lately. It was hard work, and she only seemed to fail lately.

She closed her eyes. She prayed she'd do better tomorrow.

Light. Everything around him was light. He didn't know where he was, all he could see was light. But, it didn't burn. It was warm, soft almost.

Like home.

"Connor..."

He, only hearing that voice. It was quiet, and broken, and he struggled to listen; But he had too, something in the back of his mind to him so.

"Your name... That's your name?" The voice seemed to say.

"I know you!" He shouted out into the nothingness. "Where do I know you?! Show yourself!"

"I...Can't," The voice called again. "We're not connected anymore."

"Then why do I dream about you?" Connor argued. "Why do I know you?"

Connor covered his eyes as bright light shined; He could feel it's warmth coming closer.

Connor felt his hand pulled back. He didn't open his eyes; He didn't want to leave. But his eyes seemed to open themselves, and for a moment, everything was white.

he gasped as he sat up in bed, awaking from his dream. He looked wide eyed and breathed heavily, before looking back his hands, before easing himself.

The warmth on his hands had felt so real. He pulled the blankets over himself, trying to recreate the feeling. But, nothing had felt as warm as this.

He laid back down, turning to the side.

"The same dream..." He mumbled to himself.

He couldn't count the times he had the same dream. It started off vague, but clearer and clearer lately.

A woman's voice. It was clear and soft; But it felt desperate. No matter how hard it tried, it couldn't reach him. This was probably the clearest version of the dream he had ever have; Yet, still so puzzling.

He closed his eyes, trying to fall back asleep. He wouldn't though. He never fell asleep after that dream.

"Connor?"

A voice snapped him from his daydreaming. He turned, seeing Miss Martian on the computer screen.

"Uh yeah; Yeah..." Superboy mumbled. He he look down for a silent moment, before turning back up to the green girl.

"Dreams; Can they be like, prophecies? Or messages?" He asked.

Miss Martian narrowed her brow. "Where did that come from?"

Superboy shrugged. "No where; just wondering."

Miss Martian's eyes turned upward as she thought about it.

"Well, not usually prophecies," Miss Martian concluded. "But messages? Maybe from your subconscious?"

"Really?" Superboy seemed more interested than before. "Your subconscious?"

"Yea," Miss Martian smiled. "Dreams can be messages from your locked up feelings. Perhaps you're denying something, maybe something from your past..."

"Something from my past...?" Superboy furrowed his brows.

"Or hidden desires," She placed her head in her arm on the desk, grinning to herself.

"Something from my past? Like memories?" Superboy asked.

Miss martian raised a brow. "Oh? Oh!" She sat straighter. "Sometimes things in your past you don't remember can spring up in your dreams."

"Things in my past..." Superboy mumbled. He sat up from his chair, turning to leave.

"Where are you going?" Miss Martian turned her chair.

Superboy looked back at her, "Just a walk," He shrugged.

Miss Martian's smile disappeared, turning back her chair. "Oh. Ok."

Superboy turned back, looking back at her.

"Thanks,"

Miss Martian waited, not turning her chair back. Her cheeks rose, a smile spreading as he left.

Connor zipped up his sweater as he walked through the ruin that was once Cadmus Labs. He looked around, before finding what he had been looking for.

Connor pulled away the sewer cover, only to reveal it wasn't a sewer at all. It was a secret tunnel.

He had learned about this secret passage from Dubblix. He jumped down, looking forward into the tunnel.

As he walked, he felt the wall. cracked and turning to rubble, he had remembered this place when he first escaped.

He kept walking, until he finally reached what he had been looking for. His old pod.

He touched, feeling the glass that remained. He looked over to the computer, untouched.

He turned it on.

Beep Beep Beep

The computer flashed on after a few clicks. Before revealing a desktop with a couple of folders. He opened each, until pictures of the experiment.

He looked, until one struck him. The pod, a woman standing beside it. She had pale white hair and wrinkles, with three small moles in a row on her cheek.

"Who is she?"
