ENJOY.
Clarion left the border and flew home as quickly as her wings would carry her, the night air was still and deathly silent. She noticed the ground was dry underneath her, she expected that everything would be completely drenched from the storm but she then realized it must have just been at the border and not throughout all of Pixie Hollow.
Clarion began to feel a little uneasy and on edge, she felt her body tighten as fear crept up on her; the storm only had been where she and Milori were and paranoia started to seep into her mind; was the storm caused by whomever was controlling the fog? Or was it a coincidence?
She decided that she didn't believe the storm was random, she believed it was caused by the same person who was controlling the fog. Clarion shuddered, she was afraid and felt helpless not knowing what to do. She arrived back to the pixie dust tree and quietly went into her room, she put on her nightgown and crawled into bed.
Clarion awoke with a gasp, she took a deep breath and held her hand to her chest, she wiped away the tiredness from her eyes and tucked her hair behind her ear; tears began to fall gently down her face. She had been awoken abruptly from her nightmare, she dreamed that she was at the border with Milori and he had tried to save her from the storm but ending up getting stuck by lightning and dying in her arms.
She reminded herself that it was only a dream and Milori was all right when he left her last night at the border. Clarion could not wait for sunset to arrive, she wouldn't feel better until she was in his arms. She climbed out of bed and quickly made her bed and flew over to her dresser, she grabbed a brown dress and matching shoes. She brushed her hair and retrieved her tiara from her dresser drawer and flew down to springtime square.
Every fairy in Pixie Hollow flew around happily, everyone was busy with the preparations for spring and she envied them. They didn't have a care in the world and Clarion wished she felt the same way, her mind kept playing what had happened during the storm with Milori over and over again. She felt as if this day was slowly dragging on, every minute that went by felt like hours and all she longed for was to see him again.
She checked the preparations and everything was going along smoothly, this gave her a feeling of relief. She had so much to worry about right now that she felt like she couldn't handle anything else going wrong. She made her rounds throughout spring, summer, and autumn and had a couple of hours to kill before she could head off towards the border.
Clarion decided to go home and try to relax, she put her tiara away and grabbed a book, some tea and decided to sit on her couch and try to concentrate on relaxing, she was under a lot of stress and it was taking its toll on her; she felt exhausted all the time. She was lost in her book when she realized that it was time, she jumped off the couch and flew as fast as she could towards the border. She wanted nothing more than to be in his arms.
She arrived at the border and saw Milori standing under the white snowfall, he seemed to be glowing with joy at the sight of her and she couldn't help but smile. Clarion then noticed someone standing next to him, she slowed down and landed gently onto the log and resisted the urge to grab Milori and kiss him.
She studied the sparrowman standing next to him, he was shorter than Milori and was around the same height as Mary. He was dressed in a green and purple leaf suit and his white hair was formed into points and his eyes beamed under his thick glasses. He held a white snowflake staff and looked towards Milori.
"Clarion, this is Dewey, the Keeper of all fairy knowledge." said Milori. He smiled at her and immediately her eyes lit up. Clarion began to get lost in his gaze when she quickly remembered that they were not alone.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Dewey. I'm Clarion." said Clarion sweetly. Dewey blushed at her words, he cleared his throat and gave her a small bow.
"The pleasure is all mine, princess." said Dewey. He glanced back up to see Clarion smiling brightly and trying to suppress a giggle. Milori then walked closer over to Clarion and Dewey turned around to give them a moment.
Once he reached her, he grabbed her hand and held it tightly against his chest; he leaned in and gave her a passionate kiss. "Hello, love." said Milori quietly. Clarion trembled at his cold touch, she loved the way he kissed her and called her love. "I've missed you." said Clarion calmly. "I know, I've missed you too, but there is something I need to tell you, something very important." said Milori. Clarion let go of his hand upon hearing how serious his voice was. Milori called over to Dewey and he flew back over to the lovely couple.
"I've brought Dewey here not just to meet you, but we've found something and we needed to tell you right away." said Milori. Clarion could see the worry in his eyes and felt her lungs tighten in her chest, she knew that whatever Milori had to tell her would be something awful. Her heart raced and her breathing began to quicken; she could feel her hands start to shake and placed them behind her back so they wouldn't notice.
"Clarion, after I left you last night I went to visit Dewey and I told him everything about us and what had happened to us at the border last night. Dewey checked in his books and it turns out we were right.." Milori's voice trailed off. He was having a hard time telling Clarion this, he wanted to reassure her that everything would be fine and that they could begin to enjoy their life together, he wanted to give her the happiness she so deserved but this was breaking his heart. How was he suppose to tell her that the only person powerful enough to defeat the necromancer was her, and worst of all she needed her queenly powers to be powerful enough and she was still the princess. Milori couldn't bear to tell her this, he knew it would devastate her.
Dewey realized Milori was hesitant and stepped in for his friend. He let out a cough and Clarion gave Milori a longing look and then glanced over to Dewey giving him her full attention.
"As I was telling Milori last night, I wrote about the necromancer in my book about powerful beings and you were both right to be worried. The necromancer is extremely powerful and sinister, his has many powers but the only one I am aware of is his power over the elements. Milori also informed me that you and your ministers had already uncovered this information but the part that you don't know is that.." Dewey paused and took a deep breath.
"I'm afraid, princess, that you are the only one who can defeat him, you alone must face him but you need your queenly powers to do so..." Dewey's voice went quiet as he finished. He felt terrible for causing the look on the princesses face.
Clarion starred blankly at Dewey and Milori, she was still trying to process the information she had just received and she was having a difficult time. Her heart began to race and her breathing became short and ragged as though someone had just punched her in the stomach. She felt overwhelmed and began to feel a little dizzy, she placed her hand on her forehead and swayed; Milori's hand grabbed her shoulders steadying her.
"Clarion, dear, are you all right?" asked Milori as he placed his hand under her chin to lift her head so she would look at him. He could see the fear in her eyes and he sighed, knowing he couldn't take her fear away from her.
"I..I don't.." Clarion was having a hard time wrapping her mind around what Dewey had told her. How was she the one who was suppose to defeat the necromancer? She had never felt more powerless in her life than she did in this moment. Clarion rubbed her temples and squinted her eyes shut, all this stress was causing her to have a migraine.
"I am the princess, I don't have my queenly powers yet, how am I suppose to.." Clarion's voice trailed off. Her question wasn't directed at Milori or Dewey. She knew that they wouldn't have the answer. The question was meant more for herself, how was she suppose to find the strength or power to fight the necromancer when there was still a fair amount of time left before she would become the queen. Clarion couldn't take the pressure anymore, thoughts raced through her mind as fast as the wind that flowed through her hair. Milori and Dewey waited patiently for Clarion to regain herself.
"I need to sit down." said Clarion. Milori was at her side in an instance and nodded to Dewey letting him know that he was free to leave without giving a goodbye. He knew that Clarion didn't need an audience right now and Dewey understood, he gave Milori a nod and flew off.
Milori sat down with Clarion and stroked her hand lovingly. "Are you all right?" asked Milori. He waited patiently as he saw Clarion try to fight everything she was feeling right now. Clarion was tormenting herself with her thoughts and it broke Milori's heart to know that she was feeling this way. He grabbed the back of her head and pulled her close to him and kissed her with everything that he had. Her arms instinctively reached up around his neck and she pressed her body closer to his. Milori wrapped his arm around her thin waist and ran his other hand through her hair, after a few minutes they broke apart both gasping for air.
"I love you." said Milori as he caressed her cheek, she smiled and turned her head towards his hand and kissed it. She crawled into his lap and rested her head on his shoulder as he caressed her back.
"I don't know what to do, Milori." said Clarion quietly. The fear and uncertainty in her voice made Milori shift his weight a little and he sighed. He wanted to say the right thing to her, he didn't want to upset her and cause her more agony. Milori was about to speak when she spoke again.
"I'm not a queen, I'm not powerful enough to help anyone.." Clarion's voice trailed off, hearing herself say out loud how utterly powerless she was made it sink in even more. How was she ever going to get through this? How was she suppose to protect Pixie Hollow and the Winter Woods when she wasn't powerful enough?
"You may have not received your queenly powers yet love, but I know in my heart that you can do anything. I have never met anyone who feels as deeply as you do. You put you heart and soul into everything you do and everything you feel. I am confident that you can get through this and I will be here to help you every step of the way. I am yours Clarion and I love you." Milori finished speaking and he surprised himself. He had no idea he was capable of knowing what to say to her to make her mind at ease but as soon as he finished speaking he could feel her body begin to relax.
"Milori.. I.." Tears began to well in her eyes, Milori was so kind and understanding. He knew exactly what to say to make her feel better and she felt as though he had taken some of the weight off of her shoulders. She knew how lucky she was to have him by her side, there was no way she could do any of this alone. "Thank you. I love you so much." said Clarion as she kissed him.
After they broke apart from their kiss, Milori stood up and offered Clarion his hand, she placed her hand gracefully in his and he lifted her to her feet. He put his arms around her waist and brought her closer to him as she placed her hands on his shoulders. They stood a few moments just gazing into each other's eyes and becoming lost in the love they had for each other. They both smiled and then Milori grabbed Clarion by the waist and spun her around in a circle. She let out a giggle and Milori's smile grew wider, he loved hearing her laugh. He set her back down on her feet and gave her a quick kiss.
"I know we can do this together. Even though you don't have your queenly powers yet, I will be the extra strength that you need. I will be here for you to lean on. I will always be here for you, love." said Milori. Clarion smiled and she could feel a blush rushing to her cheeks, she grabbed Milori's hand and tried not to let her tears fall from her eyes.
"I don't know what I would do without Milori." said Clarion. He smiled at what she had said and kissed her again. She made him feel so wonderful, he never knew one fairy was capable of making him feel this much. He was lost in thought about her when she sighed. Her sigh was filled with despair and Milori grew concerned.
"Clarion?" asked Milori. She glanced up to the night sky, they were now bathed in moonlight, they hadn't realized how late it was. As soon as he saw the look on her face he knew what it meant. He knew she had to leave and this always tore him apart. He hated that he had to leave her every night and that he couldn't be with her all the time to protect her and remind her how much she meant to him. Milori could feel the anger growing inside of him.
"You have to leave.." Milori said bitterly. Clarion's eyes lost their spark as she heard the pain in his voice, she felt the same way he did. It wasn't fair that they had to always leave each other at the border, Clarion wished now more than ever that she was capable of surviving in winter.
"I do but I don't wan-" Clarion was cut off by Milori's lips. He kissed her with everything that he had. She felt a rush of love and lust wash over her entire being as he pulled her closer to his body, his muscles wrapped around her like a blanket and he gently lifted her off of her feet. Clarion wrapped her legs around his waist as she ran her hands through his hair. She wished their kiss could last forever and she wasn't forced to leave him. Milori broke apart their kiss and set her back down on her feet as they both gasped for air. Milori pulled her into a tight embrace and set his hand on the small of her back.
"I know, but you must." said Milori. Clarion pulled out of his embrace to look at him, she knew their partings were hard on Milori and seeing him in pain caused her the worst kind of pain. She sighed and kissed him.
"Tomorrow." said Clarion. She turned to leave as Milori grabbed her arm and swung her around for one last kiss.
"Tomorrow, love." Clarion smiled and flew up into the night sky, she blew him a kiss before flying off towards the pixie dust tree.
Milori smiled back and flew off towards home. He was angry with himself, he needed to figure out a way to protect her from the necromancer. There needed to be something he could do. Milori was determined to find a way, he wouldn't let anything happen to her.
