Chapter 26
Staying up for three days straight, Scarlett could deal with. Her dad's grumpiness after waking up at 4:50 am in the morning on a Sunday too, Scarlett could handle. She could handle Clint's weirdness for jumping out from the vents. Thor storied about Asgard, which actually were really good. She could also deal with her boyfriend's lame ass stories of his old times before the war. "Back in my day," Steve began and Scarlet would groan. She really thought that he was doing it on purpose. What she couldn't deal with was Thai food. She hated the food. It made her feel sick but should let Steve try it if he wanted to… Scarlett wasn't going to eat any of it though. Scarlett and Steve sat at the kitchen able opposite each other with a couple of plates of Thai food they had order in the middle of them. She looked at the food and then up at Steve who was glancing around the table.
"It smells nice." Steve said.
"Yeah but you haven't tried it yet," Scarlett began and pointed to one of the plates closest to Steve. "That is Pad Thai, try it." Scarlett said and Steve picked up the fork and took a bite of the food. Scarlett studied Steve face as he chewed his food with his mouth closed.
"Humm… that's good," Steve said, and Scarlett rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, now this is called Thai Chicken and sweet potato soup," Scarlett said picking up the plate next to her and passing it over to Steve. She watched him eat and then told him what everything else was.
"This is like the only thing that I can stand when it comes to Thai food," Scarlett said leaning over to the right and pulling the plate towards her. "This is Thai beef stir-fry," Scarlett told Steve. He was leaning back in his chair and was looking full, however when Scarlett said she liked this beef stir-fry Steve sat up and held out his hand. Scarlett smiled and handed it. Unsurprisingly, Steve liked it. Scarlett had given up on trying to get Steve to hate Thai food. The man loved it.
Scarlett walked out of the elevator to to the shared living room and laid down on the sofa. Steve was out on a SHIELD mission with Clint and Maria Hill. Scarlett stared up at the ceiling, she sniffed a little.
"Damn..." Scarlett muttered. "Bruce was right." Scarlett mumbled and got up. She walked into the kitchen to find some tablets to take. She did not want Bruce or Tony finding out about her cold. She had said she was not going to get one and here she was.
"Argh..." Scalrett groaned, walking back into the living room after taking the tablets with some water.
"Hey Jarvis, do you have any like... files or clips of when Steve was in the army?" Scarlett asked him.
"Yes Miss Stark, would you like to see them?" Jarvis asked and Scarlett smiled.
"If you could Jarvis." And then a clip came up on the TV. Scarlett leaned back in the couch and placed her legs onto the coffee table. She pulled at the grey blanket that was laying over the back of the couch and then curled up under it.
"…and you look like you're going to die," Clint said as the group, him, Steve and Maria came out of the elevator. Scarlett looked away from TV and looked over to them. She had ended up laying down on the couch and watched the clips sideways.
She saw Clint had a black eye and a bust lip but he looked ok. She lifted her head a little and looked at Steve. Steve had blood all over his uniform, around his stomach and had blood trickling down his forehead. Maria was sat down on love seat, her hair was messy like someone had pulled at her hair and her uniform was a little dirty, but so looked ok. Badass women, Scarlett thought
"Steve," Scarlett said. "Are you ok?" She asked, a little hint of concern in her voice. Steve turned and smiled lightly at her.
"I'm find. The wounds will heal soon," Steve said and Scarlett leaned forward pulling him into a hug.
"I missed you," she muttered into his ear.
"I missed you too," Steve mumbled back to her, pulling away a little to kiss Scarlett on the lips.
"Eww, god. Stop it before I vomit," Clint said as he lopped down onto the single sofa. Maria rolled her eyes a little and then pulled out her phone, to contact SHIELD. Scarlett leaned back away from Steve and then looked at the TV.
"What you-" Steve began to ask but didn't need to finish his question. He knew what she was watching the second he looked up at the screen. Scarlett smirked and looked at Steve.
"You look so cute. I could just eat you up," Scarlett said. Steve blushed a little but wrapped his arm around her.
"Do you want us to give you some privacy?" Clint asked. Scarlett rolled her eyes at him before looking back at Steve.
"You're so..." Scarlett began.
"Skinny?" Steve said, trying to finish her sentence. Scarlett shook her head.
"No, not skinny... ok well yes skinny. But you're so small and cute looking," Scarlett said. "I mean, I love you like this and everything but... aww," Scarlett said, looking back at the TV. Maria sighed and then got up.
"I need to go back to SHIELD, update Fury on the mission," Maria said, she nodded to them all and then left. Scarlett sniffed as Clint grabbed the remote to change the channel. Scarlett then coughed, making Steve pull her closer to him, wrapping the blanket around her tightly.
"You ok?" Steve asked her.
"Oh me... yeah I'm fine," Scarlett said.
"You don't sound it," Clint commented from where he was sat crossed legged on the single sofa.
"Come on," Steve said, getting up. He held out his hands for Scarlett to take but she didn't.
"No... I don't want to get up," Scarlett told him and Steve sighed.
"You need to get better. To bed now," Steve said and Scarlett shook her head.
"It's only 8 o'clock at night," Scarlett said. Before she knew it Steve had her in her arms. She sighed. "You know I can walk," Scarlett told him, but didn't protest as Steve walked into the elevator.
"Yep, but you were too lazy to even get up from the couch," Steve said and Scarlett smirked.
"You take getting a cold way too seriously," Scarlett said as the elevator moved up to her room. Steve looked down at her. Scarlett realized that he had grown up with illness after illness. Even a cold would effect Little Skinny Steve very badly.
"I just want to make sure you get better soon," Steve said and Scarlett smiled up at him. The elevator opened up and Steve carried her into her room. He placed her into her bed so gently and then pulled the covers over her.
"Why you doing this to me?" Scarlett asked him and Steve smiled down at her.
"Because I care about you." Steve told her.
"Aww, you big softy," Scarlett said, smiling up at him but pulled at his uniform. He leaned down to her and kissed her on the lips. "But I love you for it." Scarlett mumbled. She pushed him away. "Now go get a shower, you have blood all over you and you smell like sweat," Scarlett said, rolling away from him. He chuckled and then got up off the bed. Scarlett waited for Steve to leave before getting up and turning on the TV. A couple of seconds later the TV went black.
"What?" Scarlett looked at it, a frown on her face.
"Captain Rogers has instructed that you get some rest," Jarvis replied to her and turn the lights off. The room went dark as Jarvis blacken out the glass.
"Nice touch Rogers, nice touch," Scarlett muttered, before sighing laying back in the sofa, deciding she would have to get some sleep.
So sorry for the wait. Hope you enjoyed this chapter.
