"What the hell is that?" Arthur asked, watching as the Amazo loaded the burning-hot SMG and aimed it at the heroes.
"An android. A powerful one." Batman replied, pulling out his grapnel gun and sliding an attachment onto the bottom of the barrel. Flash eyed him and cleared his throat.
"So, who's making the first move? And what are you doing to the... uh... rope gun thing there?" he asked.
"It's a lubricator that makes the cable go farther and faster. We're going to need it."
"We need to keep that thing on the ground. We can't let it get to the plane. I'll handle it." Lantern said, prepping his ring and aiming it at the approaching Amazo.
Lantern shot out a small blast that flew into the SMG and knocked it out of the android's hands. The android's organic flesh fell off in hot, dippy pieces from its face and back and it shook off a small flame collecting on its right shoulder. It aimed its mechanical eyes at Lantern and started into a sprint at him. Batman quickly fired his accelerated grapnel gun and the collapsible hook shot out at five times the speed and lodged itself inside the center of the Amazo's chest. Batman pulled back hard and flicked a switch on the side, reeling the cable back inside. It pulled the Amazo off its feet and made it topple over itself, scrapping its body and shedding more flesh as Batman pulled hard. Flash ran up to it and put it in a headlock, his cheek from inside his cowl colliding with the extremely hot metal of the android. Within a few seconds, Flash battling against the android's superior strength, the android tossed him off and formed a stance similar to the Flash and glanced at him with a cold stare.
"What the hell?" Flash said to himself as he saw the android begin to vibrate at an amazing rate.
The rest of the heroes tensed up and Batman noticed the sweat dripping down Flash's face and reached out for him. He released the cable and pushed Arthur back behind him. The Atlantean gave him a look and scoffed at him. His eyes met the Dark Knight's and through his facial expression, something bad was about to happen.
"Look out!" he yelled, trying to grab the Flash's arms as the android ran at them, with speeds comparable to the speedster. The android collided with the Flash and he was thrown across the landing strip, scraping his face and the backs of his arms, the armor of his suit becoming shredded as he tried to dig himself into the asphalt.
"It can run? Oh, hell no!" Lantern screamed, watching as the android ran at him.
Lantern generated a basic green wall and the android bounced backward, hitting a parked 737 passenger jet and breaking off the landing wheels, sending the craft crashing to the ground. Arthur watched as the android came at him, delivering a fast punch. Arthur was knocked to the ground and groaned in pain, pulling his back out of the crunched asphalt rock and kicking the android in its left knee, knocking it backwards. He leaped up and began punching and kicking it in the chest before it began vibrating again. Arthur put the android in a headlock and he twisted it around, facing Lantern.
"Lantern. Hit it with all you got!" the Atlantean said.
"You sure?"
"Do it!" Arthur screamed, feeling the strain of trying to hold back the android's newfound powers.
"Arthur! Don't let it touch your skin!" Batman said, preparing another cable to fire.
Arthur watched as his bare hands were wrapped around the android's neck and he felt his own strength being matched quickly by the android's own. Lantern quickly fired a sharp blast and it collided with the Amazo's chest, sending it and Arthur 20 feet back. Arthur leaped over its back and landed on the ground as the Amazo struggled to collect itself. Arthur began running at it and began growling in anger as a loud boom was heard and a loud crash was heard in the air. Arthur watched as the left wing of Air Force One was blown to pieces in fiery bits and the whole plane began to twist around to the left.
"What the hell-?" Arthur began before the Amazo punched him in the face and sent him back into the ground. The Flash quickly appeared behind the super-powered Amazo and used his gauntlets to shred apart the back section of its neck. It twisted its head around to face the Flash and growled a mechanical spurt of anger. Flash ducked as it threw a punch and grabbed the arm with the Speed Force, slamming his body into the ground and feeling the wiring inside the joints rip apart. The android's right arm had been ripped from its socket and was hanging from a few strong wires and the rest of the elastic flesh. The Amazo headbutted the Flash and tossed him backwards, into the crashed 737. It kicked the speedster in the stomach and was about to deliver another blow before Green Lantern constructed a baseball bat and cracked it against the Amazo's front chest, sending it high into the air.
"I got him!" Arthur screamed, shaking the pain away and suddenly aiming his hand up at the soaring android and generating a large wave of water from the vapor before the android could activate its flight ability.
The gigantic wave of water overcame the Amazo and sent it into the ground and Arthur kept twisting the waves around it, making sure it couldn't escape. Orm joined the fight and fired his own giant ball of water, increasing the pressure and amount of spin, letting the Amazo lose its sense of balance and become ripped apart by the intensity of the current. Orm waved to his brother and gave him the signal to let go. Arthur gave a small smirk and released control of his water ball, a powerful mist shattering his own ball and letting the magic-infused Atlantean warrior take full control. He turned all of the water into a lasso and swung it around, letting the Amazo's ripped electronics fly all over before slamming it back into the airstrip, completely destroying the android.
The rest of the heroes were visibly impressed as Orm took a deep breath and gave a smile to his brother.
"Nice one, halfling. Now how about you help in not killing the American leader here." Orm said, concentrating on the fast-approaching damaged Air Force One.
Superman could see the Amazo as it dived through the door of the plane and grabbed the Secret Service agent protecting the bunker where President Hockner was being held. The guard was helpless as the android fired a small blast through the agent's face, splattering brain matter all over and pieces of his jawbone hitting the marble counter for the bar area. The android dropped the body and scanned the plane, ripping apart the captain's door and firing a large blast at the cockpit, leaving the captain and her co-pilot powerless as the front of the plane was blown apart completely, vaporizing their bodies and the metal controls inside. Diana saw the horrifying event as she tried to keep the plane level and let go of it without Superman knowing, leaving him to turn the plane back over as its course began to become diverted, banking hard and upside-down to the left.
"Diana!" Superman yelled.
She ignored his plea and faced the Amazo standing among the wreckage of Air Force One. She pulled out her sword and swung it downward, the android blocking the blow and kicking her hard in the chest. Diana used the hilt of the sword to dent in the android's face and slammed the flat end of the blade into his chest. The android fired a large blast at the princess and she blocked it with her sword, watching the energy hit the floor and completely destroy the first third of the plane. She was thrown out of the plane by the intense air pressure and was in fear as she watched the plane begin a descent into a tailspin and could hear President Hockner screaming inside the bunker. Unfortunately, so did the Amazo and with its advanced strength, could easily walk back to the bunker despite the plane being upside-down.
Diana grabbed onto the wreckage with all her might and tried to get back inside the plane as the android inched closer and closer to the President. She found the strength and screamed loudly as she flew across the body of the plane and with both arms outstretched, crashed into the android and blew its chest open.
"Oh my God. Hal, do something!" Flash said as the men on the ground watched the plane begin to drift off course.
"My ring's too low on power, I can't fly up there." Lantern said, looking at the dim glow emitting from the alien ring.
Batman looked at the scene and saw Superman struggling to keep the plane on course. He couldn't find the Amazonian princess anywhere and could only see fire and sparks spitting out from the various damage sights in the hull.
"I can't see the princess. She's not with him."
Orm saw Arthur become filled with rage and shake his head slowly. Orm tried to think of a plan and quickly started conjuring all the water vapor in the area.
"Unless you men don't mind suffocating..." Orm said as a massive amount of water swirled around him.
"You're going to want to back up a lot. Arthur! Help me!"
Arthur quickly joined his half-brother and started generating as much water as possible. He looked at Orm and could see the desperation in his eyes. Through all the years he had known Orm, he had always been the type to show that he only believed and care for himself. But in this moment, Arthur could tell that deep within his soul, Orm wanted to do good.
"We have to soften the blow as much as possible. It's not going to be nice but the President will live. I hope." Arthur said, followed by a small, nervous laugh.
The two of them created a small wave pool of water that crashed in over itself and appeared to alter the laws of physics. They began to raise it up a few feet above their heads and began directing the 100 foot field of water over to where the plane was most likely going to crash. Arthur held on his section of the field while generating more with his other hand and his legs began to buckle from the immense strength. He fought against the mass levels of concentration and continued to carry the body of water near the end of the air strip.
"You ready for this?" he asked Orm with a raspy tone.
"Here's to making a soft landing, halfling." his brother responded with a smirk.
Diana wiped away the oil-like substance that oozed from the broken orifice inside the android's body and looked out the hole inside the plane and saw the body of water. She smiled knowing it was Arthur's doing. She flew outside and saw Superman struggling to keep the plane from going into another wild tailspin. He looked at her with strain visible in his eyes and she hung onto the wing as she pointed to the landing strip.
"You see the water on the airstrip?" she asked.
Superman peered over the wing and saw the strange sight a thousand feet below. He turned to her and nodded.
"I have the other side. Let's try to ease the impact!" the Amazonian said, soaring over the abused plane and grabbing the bottom of the body, lifting up and trying to level it out.
"They're straightening it out! Are you ready?" Lantern yelled to Arthur from a safe distance away from the water.
"Ready as I'll ever be!" he replied.
They could hear the struggling engine of the plane's remaining wing and the thunderous return of Air Force One about to land became near-unbearable. Orm and his brother broke into a support stance as the plane inched closer, not slowing down despite Superman and Diana's attempts to balance the plane. They raised the large body of water higher into the air and were still collecting water as the plane's altitude hit 300 feet.
"Do you have it?" Superman asked, hearing the injured wing beginning to shake uncontrollably from the internal wires.
"Yes!" Diana replied loudly, trying to steer the plane toward the water.
"Good! Because this wing is about to collapse!"
As soon as he finished talking, the metal sheeting was ripped off and the interior wall of the plane was ripped from the body, more air flowing into the plane and throwing it off balance again. Superman ducked as a large piece of the rudder nearly hit him in the face. He let go of the wing completely as it broke off flew backwards, the engine scraping across the side of the plane and tossing it upside down. Diana was thrown from the force and the wing collided with her chest, knocking her near-unconscious as the plane headed for a dead tailspin into the ground, about to hit the right wing of the airport instead of the water.
Superman grabbed Diana as she fell to the ground and soared to the falling plane, breaking the sound barrier as he raced to save it.
"Grab the wing and toss that thing over your head!" he yelled, throwing her off of him and letting her reach out for the left side of the tail as he slammed into it and grabbed it as well.
The plane was 100 feet from the ground before the both of them launched the tail and the rest of the plane over their head, the tail ripping off from the back of the body and hitting the landing strip and exploding into multiple sections. The plane flipped twice in the air, heading straight for the body of water, too fast.
"It's gonna be too much!" Flash yelled, watching the horrifying sight of the wingless and tail-less plane soaring through the air.
"Lantern," Batman yelled.
"Do something!" he finished as Lantern prepared his ring and used the rest of its energy to generate a giant brick wall to soften the blow on the water.
The green wall was shattered, knocking Lantern to the ground as he braced for the blow. Metal blew out in every direction, Batman and the Flash shielding themselves as the 200 ton aircraft crashed into the water upside-down. Water splashed violently upwards and the metal groaned as it broke through the bottom section and both Atlanteans were blown back a hundred feet, hitting the destroyed, fiery airliner. The plane finally stopped rolling and all the water dissipated on top of it, unknowingly extinguishing the several fires inside. Batman and the Flash ran to the crashed Air Force One and Superman joined them while Diana tended to the injured men. Flash backed up when he saw the near-headless guard's mangled body and the familiar color of the android's flesh on its severed arm. As they traversed through the upside-down aircraft, they heard a sharp groan followed by a few sharp wheezes. Superman ran to the back of the plane, ripping off the bunker door and seeing the President inside, strapped up to a device similar to that of a child's booster seat, complete with straps all over the limbs and abdomen and a parachute rigged to the back.
"Mr. President, are you okay?" Superman asked, scanning his body with his x-ray vision.
"I'm fine. Just rustled. Thank you. Thank you all." Hockner replied, a death grip hold on the straps that went along his hands.
