A/N: It's been awhile. Sorry for that folks. I know it's been a month but college is no joke. I skipped about three weeks worth of homework and it caught up to me. Anyway, I have finals the next 2 weeks, a one week break before starting again. Ah, the life I live is such a wonderful time. Note the sarcasm in my typing.
I wanted to at least write a chapter for this story but I ended up writing a chapter for my Hetalia story and another SessKag story. The new story is called "Don't Go..." and it's angst. No happy ending unless I feel like it.
Since I can't seem to keep to my schedule or promises, I'll just go with the flow for when inspiration hits me. Note, I will still finish this story but it took a turn for something even I didn't expect to write. I'm aiming for about 30 to 35 chapters. We've hit the climax!
Anyway, enjoy the story~
CHAPTER 26
Slamming his fist onto the surface of his desk, the Eastern Lord scowl. Will nothing go his way?!
Earlier that day, one of his spies came to him, exhausted and badly wounded. Though he was a lord, he cared not for the injures that man had but the information he gained. Demanding answers, he ended the man's life himself after he finished his report.
Baring his fangs to no one in particular, he growled. Damn that woman! She was as troublesome as that son of hers!
Here he was hoping to take the Western Lands from right under Sesshomaru's nose but how is he suppose to accomplish that if both mother and son were on to his actions?!
Beating his fist on the desk again, he sat down in his chair, hand massaging the migraine he constantly kept having whenever his thoughts strayed to its involvement of a certain inu youkai clan. Truthfully, he wasn't sure how much more he can handle. Sesshomaru was by far the strongest Cardinal Lord among them; InuKimi, a ruthless demoness that will kill for her son; Inuyasha, the strongest hanyou in Japan and now Kagome. She was perhaps the strongest miko to walk these lands since Midoriko.
He himself was not weak but compared to the other three lands, he was losing resources and fast. Sesshomaru is allied to Shintaro while Raya...well, she didn't care for anyone outside her lands so that left him with no allies. Should a war come about, he would surely lose. He needed a better plan and fast. To busy in his thoughts he was that he was startle when the sound of knocking rang through his ears. "Lord Asahi?"
It was Noname. After her creation and restless movement in his home, he couldn't continue calling her 'girl' when she would not respond. It was to generic a word, having every female turn to him that was in the area at the time he called her so he took it upon himself to give her one. It was easier now that she had a name. It was a nice sound in his sensitive ears whenever he said it. Fitting for a woman who truly isn't alive. Murmuring an approval for her to come in, he watch with disinterest as she closed the door behind before walking up to his desk. Moments of silence pass by the two before she spoke.
"Uh...Lord Asahi, An invitation have arrived for you. It's a mandatory invite for the celebration of Lord Sesshomaru and his intended's mating."
Blinking, he stared at the girl in disbelieving. "You...read the letter?"
It was uncommon for a female to read and a creature that wasn't even real. That and the fact that she read a letter that was intended for him. In normal cases, he would kill the person who would do such a thing but he needed her but now, she sparked his interest. "You can read?"
Nodding her head, she fidget. Was it really strange for her to have read his letter? She knew it was rude but she couldn't help herself. She just had the urge to open it and read but there was something she didn't understand. She didn't know how to read. No one taught her and she never bothered on her own to learn so how did she knew what the characters on the paper meant? How did she know how to piece together the tiny strokes of ink to form a sentence? Maybe she was just gifted. Looking at her Lord, he seem to be thinking the same thing. Perhaps she could tell him what she's been dreaming of lately.
Asahi could tell she wanted to say something else so he indulged her. He just learned that she can read. What else could she do? "Yes, what is it? What do you need to speak of?"
She was silent at first but she gathered her courage and spoke.
"I've been having dreams."
"Dreams?"
Nodding, she continued. "Yes but I don't know what it means. I see things that aren't real. Buildings made of steel and as tall as the sky." She saw when interest was lite in his eyes though he said nothing. "Carriage of unimaginable speed and clothes of...an exotic nature."
"Exotic how?"
"Women wore clothes that barely covered their bodies. Men in tight hakamas and haori's of a different design. But most of all, I see her."
He didn't need to question her on what she meant. It was only natural now that he thought about it. She was made from her powers. A being of similar calibers so why wouldn't she retain the memories of her source. Now this he could use to his advantage. He motioned for her to continue. "She's smiling at others. A little boy that looks like like her but I know it's not her child. Then I see her talking in laughter at an elder as he shows her a trinket and explain it's history. After that, I saw her hug a woman that resembled her. Maybe her mother but she was crying. She jumps and all I see is blue flashing light before the land turns back into something I know."
"Her memories then. It is perhaps her home. She didn't come from here if what you are describing is indeed her home. A foreigner?"
Shaking her head, she disagreed. "No. She's from Japan. I know she is because I am her as she is me."
More mysteries to this miko. Clearly, there was a region in Japan he was unfamiliar with. Looking at Noname, an idea came to him. "Noname, do you know how to get to her home?" A hesitate nod but an answer all the same. He smirked. Yes. He could definitely use this to his advantage. Standing up, he took the letter from her and headed through the door, calling out for his generals to meet him in the war room. Noname was about to return to the garden when he stopped her. "You... come as well."
Side by side they walked until they came to the room where his generals where already assembled.
"Greetings men. I have news and a plan." The smirk on his face became more sinister as he explained his thoughts to them. "Since it is mandatory for me to show my face at the ceremony, I want two generals to go with Noname. I will only take a few of you and soldiers. The rest is to stay and guard the palace. Dismiss."
Noname wasn't sure what he meant. Was she going to the celebration too? Asahi must have understood her silent confusion when he continued to speak to the only two generals there. "Noname, you will show them where it is that her home reside. Go and...kindly ask for her family. Perhaps you can even invite them to the Eastern palace."
"...But I don't-"
"Enough. You two will go with her and make sure this mission is completed right. If this turns out right, I'll have Sesshomaru in my hands."
"But-"
"Go and see your family. I'm sure you haven't seen them since you first came here."
The man was despicable. How was she suppose to get people that didn't exist yet? From what she remembered in her dreams, she would jump through an object of sorts and appear home but there was a problem. She only recalled herself and a silver haired dog ear boy going through it. She have never seen anyone else go through. Lord Asahi didn't want to hear about this though as he kept trying to shoo her away. Sighing, she walked away. She must be a lot like her originator. She couldn't harm the innocent and she most certainly can't hurt those that were suppose to be her family but with the guards coming, she couldn't raise suspicion.
She'll wait for the right time. She was seeing more and more things than before. Hopefully, she can use that to her own advantage to defeat the Eastern Lord before war breaks loose. Who knows. Maybe she'll be lucky and find some way to contact her and warn her of the dangers coming. She was most definitely and if she's her, maybe that luck will rub off on her. But then again, remembering scenes from the age of Naraku, she didn't seen to possess any kind of luck at all.
