Previous Chapter Recap: Last time on Kid Icarus: Uprising! In need of a new weapon to defeat Hades, Pit and Palutena ventured to the home of Dyntos, God of the Forge. Dyntos agreed to aid them provided Pit passed three trials. The trials tested Pit's body and will, even bringing him face to face with Dyntos's greatest creation, the Great Sacred Treasure. Pit managed to pass the trials and was rewarded with the Great Sacred Treasure. Now armed with the mighty weapon, Pit ventures to the Underworld for the final showdown with Hades.

OOC: This is it. The final chapter. I'd never thought I'd be finished with this story. I want to personally thank all who have read and reviewed this story. I can write stories, but they don't mean much if nobody reads them. I hope you've all enjoyed reading this as much as I've enjoyed writing it.

Today was the day. It was time for Pit to finally confront Hades. As he walked to the main hall, he couldn't help but feel nervous. Hades was a powerful enemy, far more powerful than Medusa. The question that replayed itself over and over in his mind was always the same: Would he fail? What if he lost? But he then shook it off. He couldn't fail, he wouldn't fail! Not with so much riding on the line. He was going to stop Hades once and for all. Pit opened the doors of the main hall and was greeted by the most heartwarming sight. As he walked in, he was met by scores of cheering from the Centurion Army. They had all gathered to see Pit off on this important battle. There were chants of "Captain Pit all the way!" as he walked towards the door. He saw Palutena as well. She didn't say anything but the smile she wore was all the encouragement he needed.

He ran out jumped out the door and pressed the special wristwatch Dyntos gave him. "Great Sacred Treasure activate!" he said. Instantly, the Great Sacred Treasure materialized around him. Pit took the controls and sped off across the Underworld. Belunkas appeared and attempted to stop him, but the Great Sacred Treasure's weaponry made short work of them. "The time has finally come, Pit. This is the final battle. Good luck!" Palutena said. "Thanks!" Pit replied. "I am so ready for this!"

"Hope you didn't get too lonely without me." Viridi chimed in.

"What are you doing here, Viridi?" Pit asked.

"There's no way I'd miss the battle of battles!" Viridi replied. "I made popcorn and everything!"

"Well keep your eyes peeled, cause it's gonna be a match for the books!" Pit exclaimed as he flew across the Underworld. A few minutes later, Hades erupted out of the ground with a roar, landing in front of Pit with his arms folded. His appearance had changed drastically. Three large spikes appeared out of his right shoulder. His body had become more muscular. The red lines on his body were replaced by a covering of orange-yellow light. The sash around his waist spread out like a ring. "Hello again, Pitty." he said calmly.

"Hades!" Pit replied.

"Pit"

"Hades!"

"Pit!"

"Hades!"

"Piiiiiit."

"Haaaaadeeeeees." Hades then abruptly sneezed, almost tripping over himself. "Excuse you." Pit said. "But anyway... Now it's really on!" They both roared in unison as they clashed their fist together, causing a shockwave that could be felt across the land. "On to death! Hades bellowed as Pit shouted "On to victory!" The two struggled to push each other off but both were forced to jump back. And so began the ultimate clash! "Let me get a closer look at that shiny new toy of yours." Hades said as he fired a giant beam of dark energy that tore up the land. Pit barrel rolled out of the way and retaliated with a charged shot at Hades's face. The god of the Underworld attempted to crush the Great Sacred Treasure in his hands, but Pit swiftly moved out of his reach and retaliated with The Great Sacred Treasure's arrow shots. Hades wrapped himself in his cape to block.

"Lord of the Underworld! It's time to atone for your crimes!" Pit shouted. Hades laughed as he flourished his cape, releasing several orbs of dark energy that shot fireballs. "You can be awfully cute, Pitty." he said. "But that doesn't mean I won't squash you like a gnat!" He leaped into the air and attempted to crush Pit with his fist. Pit teleported out of the way as the Underworld god smashed the ground, lodging his arm in the ground. "Drat, my arm is stuck." Hades took a few seconds to pull his arm out of the ground. "All better!" he said before firing waves of dark energy from his mouth. "Here you go!"

"No thank you!" Pit said as he zoomed out of the way. "Great Sacred Treasure, do your thing!" Pit began assailing Hades with fireballs from the right hand gun, arrows from the chest gun, and laser blasts from the left hand gun. "Pitty? I have something to show you!" Hades suddenly spun in place, transforming into a large purple tornado. "No no no!" Pit shouted as he was sucked in. Pit tried vigorously to escape, but quickly thought of an idea. Going in the direction the tornado spun, Pit hit the thrusters and flew out of tornado, far from its reach. Hades stopped spinning and leaped over to where Pit was. Pit screamed and flew backwards as Hades began to chase after him, firing lasers from his eyes "Playing hard to get, are you?" he taunted. "Good thing I've been training."

"It's kind of like watching an elephant sprint." Viridi said. Pit dodged Hades's eye beams and fired arrow shots in return. The two kept up this chase, firing shots left and right until Pit managed to hit Hades in between the eyes, sending him to the ground. "Oww!" he shouted. "Did I beat him?" Pit asked as he cautiously flew closer to him. "No I'm fine." Hades replied as he sprang to his feet. "But I could've sprained my ankle, you know!" He then leaped into the air. "Good thing I didn't!" He roared as he attempted to crush Pit underfoot. Pit teleported out of the way as he impacted the ground, leaving a huge crater. "What's the matter, Hades? You had enough?" Pit taunted. "Oh no!" Hades replied "I'm just getting started! Let's see if you can keep up!"

"You can't run from me!" Pit shouted. "Engaging pursuit mode!" Pit discarded the Great Sacred Treasure's right hand gun and the left hand gun folded into a set of thrusters. The tail of the Great Sacred Treasure became a Gatling gun as it compacted itself into a jet-like vehicle. The Great Sacred Treasure took off after Hades. With its incredible speed, it managed to catch up to him with ease. "Why, Pitty, I thought I'd left you behind!" Hades said. "Like I said, you can't run from me!" Pit boasted. "Not when I've got the Great Sacred Treasure!"

"What, you mean you can't keep up with me on your own?" Hades teased.

"It wasn't cool of you to disappear earlier." Pit said. "After all, this is our final battle."

"Oh, I was just going to make a quick stop to decimate a country or two." Hades replied.

"In the middle of battle? Why would you do that?" Pit asked.

"Probably so he could fuel up on souls." Viridi said.

"Yes, I was hoping to greet Pitty on top of a mountain of corpses." Hades admitted. "But I didn't even get a pile started with him hot on my heels. What a killjoy."

"Your hunger for destruction is as boundless as it is callous, Hades." Palutena asked.

"Plus, a 'mountain of corpses'? Seriously?" Pit asked. Pit went down to Hades's legs where turrets began to grow on them. Pit dodged the turrets fire and destroyed them with shots from his Gatling gun as he made his way up. Pit was then above Hades, facing his back. More turrets began to form on his cape, these in the shape of Hades's face. "Are those...face guns?" Pit asked. "Not just any face. Hades's face." Palutena replied. "I want you to remember every detail of this lovely visage." Hades said. "After all, it's the last face you'll ever see!" Pit made his way up Hades's cape, firing at any "face guns" that materialized. He was near the back of Hades's head. That's when he saw a swirling object on the back of the cape. Pit fired at the object with his Gatling gun, destroying the occasional face guns that appeared until the object was eventually destroyed.

Hades shouted in pain before turning to face Pit. "Now Pitty... That was very naughty of you!" he roared as he unleashed a storm of dark arrows at Pit. Pit tried to avoid them all as best he could, but they were overwhelming. The Great Sacred Treasure began taking serious damage as pieces of it began to fall off. "The Great Sacred Treasure is falling apart!" Pit shouted. "No, it's...it's changing shape again!" Palutena said. And sure enough, the Great Sacred Treasure had taken on a more humanoid shape. "Mech Armor mode engaged!" Pit said. "This thing is so awesome."

"You're starting to get on my nerves." Hades said as he began to cover his body with various laser turrets. "Good!" Pit replied as he flew in closer. The laser turrets on his body began to fire as Pit flew in closer. Pit manged to avoid them with great maneuverability. "He's covered from head to toe in weaponry. Like a rainbow apocalypse." Viridi said. "I prefer to think of it as my Devastation Ensemble." Hades replied. "I only wear it for very special occasions. You know, weddings, Armageddons..." Pit tried to fire a charged shot at one of the laser turrets, but Hades created a vortex on the palm of his hand that absorbed the shot. The vortex also began to draw him in as well. Pit unloaded as many shots as he could into the vortex until it disappeared. Pit then began firing on the various turrets on Hades's body, destroying them all. Hades tried to swipe at Pit with his claws, but the angel swiftly dodged and delivered a punch to Hades's face, his physical strength amplified by the Great Sacred Treasure.

Hades, in desperation, created more turrets on his chest, arms, and spikes. The most noticeable feature being the small shield on his chest. Pit swiftly evaded turret fire and destroyed each of the turrets before attacking the shield on his chest. Destroying it revealed a wound left by the Lightning Chariot that apparently never healed. Pit opened fire on the wound as Hades spawned more weaponry to defend against it. Pit dodged laser fire and continued to strike the wound and finally finished it with a charged shot. Hades shouted in pain then grabbed Pit. "Come here!" Pit tried to escape but was too slow. "Plucked at the peak of ripeness!" He said. Hades then spawned an orange drill from his chest and brought it close to Pit. "And now I'll just drill through the rind to remove the Pit!" He drilled through the Great Sacred Treasure, but Pit activated its eject button, escaping Hades's grip. "Now what?!" Came Hades's aggravated exclaim.

"Take this!" Pit shouted as he summoned a laser blade and cut clean through Hades. Hades screamed as the blade slit through him, cleaving him in two. "You're not half the villain you thought you were!" Pit taunted. "That's what you think!" The now bifurcated Hades cackled as he flew to the surface. "How did that not finish him off?" Pit asked. "I have to catch up with him. Engaging Ultralight mode!" The Great Sacred Treasure then grew four large wings of yellow light and flew after Hades. "Where'd he go?!" Pit asked. "Up. He's aboveground!" Palutena said as Pit made it to the surface. He looked around, but the only thing he saw was the ocean and a nearby human city.

"Behind you, Pit!" Viridi yelled. Pit turned around to see Hades floating behind him. His body was littered with bruises from the fight. His sash now hung loosely. "Still stalking me I see." With a loud yell, Hades suddenly grew a new pair of legs. These were red and black, their feet shaped like a dinosaur's "That's better." He said. "What the?" Pit was so stunned by this, he barely dodged the blue energy ball Hades tossed at him. "Gotta lure him away from the town." Pit thought to himself as proceeded to fly away. "Running away?" Hades taunted as he chased after him. "How very un-heroic." Once far enough away, Pit resumed the attack. Hades tossed small purple orbs of dark energy, but when Pit fired at them, they would fly and hit him. Pit opened fire on Hades's chest. Hades would occasionally teleport away to attack from behind with his claws. But Pit evaded and countered with a slash to the eye from his laser blade.

Hades yelled and covered his eye in pain, allowing Pit to resume attacking his chest without fear of reprisal attacks. He then charged at Hades at full speed, hitting him squarely in the chest and knocking the god on his back. Hades slowly got to his feet, breathing hard. There was a noticeable scar on his right eye. "This is ever so tiresome." he said between breaths. "Then let's finish it!" Pit yelled as he charged at Hades with energy blade extended. Hades teleported away at the last second. "Wait-huh?" Pit looked up to see Hades dive from above. Pit tried to move away, but was too slow as Hades crushed what was left of the Great Sacred Treasure in his hands. "Boom!" Hades shouted. Pit screamed as he fell to the ground, landing on his shoulder.

"Oh, no!" Palutena yelled in fright.

"Looks like your little toy isn't so great after all!" Hades laughed.

"Snap out of it, Pit!" Palutena urged.

"Pit! Wake up!" Viridi yelled. Pit slowly got to his knees just as Hades landed near him. "Since you've been such a great adversary, I've saved my deadliest attack just for you!" Hades said. "I do hope you enjoy it!" A third eye then appeared on Hades's forehead, this one bearing the Underworld Insignia. He reared back as dark energy began to gather around it. Pit's body was battered and bruised for him to move. His clothing was torn to tatters. It seemed all the angel could do was watch what seemed to be the last thing he'd see. "It's all over." Pit said. "The Great Sacred Treasure's totaled. I'm all out of tricks. I've failed."

"No you haven't, Pit." Palutena said. "I can feel an outside force, a godlike force, gathering power. But is it friend or foe? It seems to be... seeking Hades! Guide this force by aiming your weapon at him." Pit did as he was instructed and pulled out his Palutena Blade. It seemed like a foolish thing to be doing at this time, but he was desperate, praying for some kind of miracle. Hades, meanwhile, had finished charging his eye beam. "Bye bye, Pitty Pat!" he roared. But before he could fire, something incredibly unexpected happened. Medusa appeared and punched Hades with enough force that it literally decapitated him. But it also destroyed her left arm. "Medusa?!" Palutena and Viridi yelled in unison, completely stunned by the sudden turn of events.

"But...we defeated you! Why are you helping us?" Palutena asked.

"Hades keeps reviving me, but I won't play the puppet anymore!" Medusa yelled as she moved to punch Hades again. But Hades, despite being decapitated, managed to grab Medusa's arm and rip it off. "No! How dare you?!" Medusa yelled. "I am your master, Medusa, and I will revive you as many times as I desire!" Hades then grew another head, this one composed of blue flames not unlike Pandora. His eyes were a fiery orange. "But you've worn out your usefulness!" He then uppercutted Medusa, killing her instantly. "How could you do that?!" Pit asked, shocked at Hades's utter cruelty.

"Don't worry, Pitty Pat! You're next!" Hades said, dropping all pretenses of politeness as he got into fighting stance. "You look like you need help, Pit." Viridi said. "Activating the power of flight!" Pit's wings glowed green as he began to fly. Seeing the Great Sacred Treasure's main cannon still intact, Pit picked it up. "Thanks, Viridi." Palutena said. "Don't thank me yet." Viridi replied. "Get your heads back in the game! Let's finish this once and for all!"

"Okay, Pit. I've got a plan." Palutena said. "It'll take some time to pull it off, so just tough it out for a little longer. I'm using my powers to charge up the gun of the Great Sacred Treasure. Once it's fully charged, let loose!" Hades moved to strike the angel, only to be struck by green energy bolts. Both Pit and Hades looked up to see Dark Pit, riding the Lightning Chariot. He flew around Hades, firing shots from his Blade weapon. "Pittoo?! What are you doing?!" Pit asked. "Buying you time. And I'm not the only one." Dark Pit replied. Pit looked up to see storm clouds appearing. That's when Phosphora appeared, charging straight at Hades like a lightning bolt and striking him in the forehead. She zoomed around him, firing lightning bolts at any and every part of his body.

But it didn't stop there. Hundreds of Centurions appeared out of nowhere, swarming around Hades. Centurion Knights tossed their spears at him, Centurion Archers shot arrows at him, and Centurion Strongarms tossed their dumbbells at him. There were even some Juggernauts in the mix. Then, the water began to rise up and enclosed around Hades's feet, preventing him from moving. And if that wasn't astonishing enough. Even Pyrrhon swooped in to help the attack, using his Pyro Cannon. "What are you doing here, Pyrrhon?" Pit asked. "Saw the commotion, thought I could help." he said. "Consider this an apology for the whole Aurum debacle."

"I decided to help as well." Came the voice of Poseidon. "Consider it my way of returning the favor."

"Get out of there, you guys! You're no match for him!" Pit shouted, concern easily read in his voice. "Aw, how cute. You don't wanna share the credit for saving the day!" Phosphora teased. "You're not hogging all the glory, Pitstain!" Dark Pit said. "We're with you to the end, Captain!" A Centurion said. Pit moved to try to help them somehow. "No, Pit!" Palutena said. "You've got to wait until the cannon charges!"

"But they need my help!" Pit cried.

"But you can't do anything for them now." Palutena replied. "Just stay out of the thick of things for now." As much as he wanted to argue, he knew Palutena was right. "What pests you all are!" Hades roared as he fired laser blasts in all directions, uncaring if he actually hit something. All Pit could do was watch as some of the Centurions were killed. But yet, he couldn't help but be touched. Some of them, like Pyrrhon, Dark Pit, and Phosphora, were people he fought against and now here they were, ready to sacrifice their lives to help protect the world.

"I fight for all creatures living and breathing." Pit began as heartfelt tears began to form. " I fight for all who were killed in this senseless war. I fight for all departed souls still hanging in limbo! I fight for my friends, who are helping me defend this world! But most of all, I fight for Lady Palutena, the goddess of light! And it's in all their names that I will crush you, Lord of the Underworld! I won't let you desecrate another soul!"

"Okay, Pit! Cannon's charged! Let him have it!" Palutena shouted.

"Now! Fire!" Viridi said. Pit roared as he fired the cannon, a massive beam of light shot forth as Viridi extracted everyone around Hades and moved them to a safe distance. Hades tried to counter with a beam of his own, but it was too late. The god screamed as the light seared his body, eating away at his very being and substance. "It's hard to believe...but actually you got me, Pit." Hades said between pained gasps. "The nerve of you." When the light faded, there was nothing left of Hades. It was as if he had been completely erased from existence. Pit let the cannon drop to the ground as Dark Pit, Phosphora, Pyrrhon, and the Centurions moved to his side. Pit remained silent for a few moments before yelling "Victory!" while making a V sign.

The group was then assailed by scores of cheering. They turned around behind them to see the human town cheering, celebrating their victory. "Listen to those cheers!...We did it! We saved every living thing! Everywhere!" Pit said as he flew near the town, going to greet the humans. Among them were Magnus and Gaol, who looked on in silent admiration. Hearing those cheers, Pit couldn't help but feel empowered. He felt as if he had taken on the entire world and won. "Not to rain on your parade, but now we're back to the real problem." Viridi said.

"What's that?" Pit asked.

"Humans!" Viridi replied. "You might live for this adoration, but I'm not fooled by those cheers at all. Sure, Palutena says that humans are closest to the gods... But she can be a real sap sometimes. Why do you care so much about them?"

"Well, of all living beings, humans are the only ones with 'heart'." Pit answered.

"Uh-uh, not true!" Viridi said. "All living creatures have an essence that can be described as heart."

"But humans have faith and devotion. That's what I mean by heart." Pit said. "Only humans believe in gods. Only humans respect the gods."

"OK, A, you're not a god. And B, are you saying only believers deserve protection?" Viridi asked.

"Let him enjoy his moment in the sun." Palutena said. "He saved everyone, not just humans."

"Augh! Then what's the point of faith and devotion anyway? Buttering up the gods to get greedy wishes granted?" Viridi asked.

"That's one way of looking at it, I guess." Pit answered. He then looked to see Dark Pit fly right next to him, a surprisingly genuine smile spread across his face. "...Huh? Pittoo!" Pit said. "What's up?" Dark Pit replied casually. "Hey! Pay attention! I'm talking at you!" Viridi yelled. "Palutena, haven't you learned anything?"

"It's true; humans are selfish little creatures driven by greed." Palutena said. "Sounds a lot like us gods, wouldn't you say?"

"No way!" Pit laughed. "Nobody could be as selfish as the gods!" Viridi made an annoyed, mocking impersonation of Pit's laugh in response. "That's it. I'm done here." Viridi said. "You guys can have your happy ending."

"Hey Lady Palutena, you don't think Viridi will try to attack humanity again, do you?" Pit asked.

"I doubt it." Palutena replied. "After everything that's happened, I think we can all call it a day." Meanwhile, Pyrrhon floated over to Phosphora and draped an arm around her shoulder. "So, now that the war's over, how's about you and I go out sometime?" he asked. "Sorry, firefly." Phosphora said as she moved his arm off of her and took the reins of the Lightning Chariot. "You're a little too hot for me. Phos! Lux! Giddyup!" And with that, she sped off to Viridi's Sanctuary, leaving Pyrrhon alone. "Well, if you change your mind, my offer still stands. Call me!" he shrugged and flew off as well. Pit and Dark Pit flew back to Skyworld, confident that after three long years, the war was truly, finally over.

The End!

Well, the story's officially over, but I'll write an epilogue chapter for it. Again, thank you to all who reviewed and I hope you have enjoyed reading this, because I sure enjoyed writing it!
