When the anthem played that night, Lancelot's face lit the sky. The Careers mourned his courage silently, sad to see him go. He was a great guy. Merlin couldn't help but think of Freya the entire time, however...

The next day, Gwen went out to look for berries or roots or something in the cold, freezing tundra while Arthur, Merlin, Leon, and Gwaine searched for animals to hunt. While she was out, a snapped twig stopped Gwen in her path. She slowly turned around, looking at her intruder.

"Weorbban ac heorot!" Morgana whispered. Gwen's breath caught in her throat as Morgana's eyes flashed gold. Gwen felt something tickling her skin all over. When she looked down, fur was growing everywhere. She tried to feel it with her hands, perhaps even stop it from growing, but her fingers were melding together and turning black. She had hooves now? She tried to stand up and run away, but her bone structure was changing. She couldn't stand on two legs anymore. Her nose was elongating. She had a snout now, and she could feel her ears moving to the top of her head.

She was a deer.

"Hey, Arthur! Look!" Gwaine whispered, nudging the kid in the side and pointing ahead in the frozen tundra. There was a deer walking around in the cold.

"A deer!" Arthur exclaimed. It looked up at them, catching their eyesight.

"It's probably poisoned," Merlin pessimistically mumbled. Ever since their deaths, both Lancelot and Freya had been weighing on his mind. He was finally coming to terms with it. He'd never see her agian.

"Don't be a spoilsport," Arthur said with a smile. He crept forward slowly. The deer stood still. Ever so slowly forward Arthur crept, Merlin, Leon, and Gwaine right behind him.

When they were about four yards from the deer, it took off. However, as the deer passed a frozen pond, Merlin saw Gwen's reflection instead of the deer's. His breath caught in his throat and his eyes widened. Uh-oh.

Arthur and the others took off, and Merlin had to struggle to follow after them.

As the hungry, depressed, blood-thirsty Careers chased after the Gwen-deer, Merlin planned out a way to keep Arthur from killing her.

Arthur got closer and closer, so he was almost within striking distance of her. He was a fast runner. But Merlin had magic. With a flash of gold, Arthur was a tad bit slower. Gwen ran away, out of his reach and out of his sight.

The four Careers skid to a stop, hands on their knees and trying to catch their breath.

"Let's not do that again, yeah?" Merlin exclaimed between breaths. Arthur let out a breathy laugh.

"Sounds like a plan," He muttered, then fell on his side jokingly.

The Careers spent the rest of the morning continuing their trek to the Cornucopia. They succeeded in reaching their sanctuary by noon, Arthur looking for Gwen the entire time. Leon insisted they continue on their journey, but he wanted to find her. Merlin knew she'd follow them, so he insisted with Leon that they go back to Cornucopia.

About an hour past noon, Percival heard lots of heavy footsteps outside the Cornucopia. He took a peek outside the sandy, dusty, dirty floor and saw something impoosible. There were hundreds of skeletons and ghost people, but not dorocha as he thankfully saw.

"Um... Guys?" Percival shakily called out. Leon was the only one to perk his head up. When he saw the skeletons, his jaw dropped.

"Arthur, look outside the Cornucopia."

That got everyone's attention, and soon all the Careers were looking outside the Cornucopia mouth. What they all saw stunned them beyond belief. It was impossible. There was absolutely no way it was possible.

And a little eighteen-year old boy was leading it all.

Gwaine recognized him as the male counterpart to Morgause. He was from District Eleven. His name was Cenred, apparently.

"Equip yourselves! We will not go down without a fight!" Arthur shouted, grabbing a sword and shield. Leon took a greatsword, Percival two maces, Gwaine two swords, Elyan a mace and shield, and Merlin a sword and shield. As the skeleton army got closer, the Careers exited the Cornucopia and met them halfway. From then on it was a merciless battle in which the Careers tried in vain to win. Those skeletons wouldn't die, however. It was beginning to frustrate the Careers.

"You need some help?" A voice called from above them. A twelve-year old boy dropped down from the top of the Cornucopia, walking toward them. He had black hair and brilliant blue eyes, much like Merlin. He was spinning a sword skillfully, smirking all the while.

"As long as you don't kill us!" Arthur growled, blocking an attack from a rather aggressive skeleton. The kid laughed and jumped right into the battle.

A few minutes later Merlin deemed the battle useless. He was about to reatreat and call for Kilgarrah when a grave sight caught his eye: a skeleton impaling Gwaine's abdomen with a sword.

Merlin cried out and rushed to him, blocking attacks from more skeletons all around him. A quick glance at Arthur showed that the kid was fighting Cenred. Merlin tore his eyes away from them and focused on Gwaine.

"Gwaine!" Merlin exclaimed, crouching down next to him. He had his sword on his back and figured he was protected from skeletons for the time being.

"Merlin... Keep fighti'g..."

"You too! You have to stay alive! We can't win this without you!"

"Sure 'ou can..."

"No! Gwaine, no, listen to me, stay with me, stay with me now!"

"'Ey, did I e'er... tell you... that I'm sor'y for your... loss...?"

"Hm? No, no, you didn- Gwaine!"

Gwaine's eyes closed and a cannon fired. Merlin felt tears threatening to push themselves out. Instead, Merlin took a shaky breath, released it, jumped up, and ran.
