He Sara,

I must say it came to me as a surprise that you texted me.

And thou I care about you I must tell you that if we were to see each other again it would be on friendly terms. That being said, how does tomorrow at 7.30 am for a cup of coffee at Junior's sound?

"What are you doing with my phone?" Caffrey asked when he saw Sarah texting someone on it. "Nothing" while she tried to erase the message she texted but Caffrey was faster and wrestled the phone out of her hands. "What is this?" He asked when he read both texts. "A text invite." She smiled at him naïvely. "Goddammit Sarah I thought we talked this over last night!" He threw the phone at the couch in anger. "I'm Happy. I Don't Need or Want a God Damned Girlfriend!" She knew she was in big trouble now. He'd just sworn twice and he rarely swore at all. "I'm sorry. I just thought…" she cowered, even more so when he interrupted her. "That's the problem, you always think but never ASK!" She sat there, silent, looking at him what he would do or say next. But all he deed was look at her. And they stayed that way for several minutes before Caffrey broke the silence. "Why?" Was all he said. "Because I thought you liked Sara. Even loved her." She could physically see him unwind. "I still do and I did once but now it's more on a, as you yourself said, friendly base. But I go to this 'date' so I can tell her myself."

The rest of the day they avoided each other. Caffrey trying to paint his frustrations away and Sarah looking for jobs and making calls.

The next day Sarah went job hunting very, very early and Caffrey made sure he wasn't too early (so he wouldn't seem eager) but not to late either. Sara on the other hand had been there for to cappuccino and working her threw a third. "This is going to be though." He whispered to himself before he greeted Sara with a friendly hug. She kiss him on the cheek but he stepped instead of lingering. And That didn't go unnoticed. So after the other their coffees and a something to eat, Sara spoke her mind. "So who is she? She must be something spectacular for you to give up a chance to flirt." She took a sip of her cappuccino and looked over it when he still didn't answer. "Well?" As she set her cup back down. "It's complicated." And sipped his coffee so wouldn't have to elaborate further. "No it isn't." As she took a nibble of her club sandwich. "You do what you always do. It seems to work on everybody. Even me." "She's… She's different." She looked at him wide eyed. "Wait, you fell in love with a women who's immune to your charms?!" "Basically….Yes" Suddenly a light bulb went on in Sara's mind and she clasped her mouth in surprise and disbelieve. "Ow My God. It can't be. But it is, isn't it. It's…" "Yes." He interrupted her, not ready to hear it out loud yet.

It was 8.40 PM when Caffrey came home and what a surprise it was when he entered his apartment. All the lights were out but for the many candles that were lit. The table was set and all his favorite dishes were served with a big glass of Ketel One on the Rocks. He smiled as he shrugged of his jacket and, as he loosened his tie, said to himself; "I can get used to this… SARAH! " "In the bathroom!" He walked to worth the bathroom when she stepped out. She was wearing one of his silk pajamas. {I think} She had his blouse wrapped around her like a short dress. "Those are mine." As he pulled her to him by the waistband of his pants. "I didn't have time to do the laundry." {Is she blushing?} He asked himself as placed one hand on her hip and with the other he brushed a lock of hair away and behind her ear. "I can see that. What's all this for?" "My way of saying sorry, I guess." His hand cupped her face and his thumb rubbed her cheek gently. "You didn't have to do that." He brushed his lips to hers in a soft kiss. " But I'm not complaining." He took her by the hand and lead her to dining table.

As they sat at the table Sarah served the appetizers and asked "How was your date with Sara?" "Well first of all. It wasn't a date and second, it went very well. We came to an understanding and we're having coffee next week, as friends." Caffrey added the last with a lot of emphases. "Good, good." The Appetizers went and first course came before Caffrey broke the silence. "So how was your day?" "Good…Great actually. I had a few job interviews and when I got back I already had a few positive answers back!" "That's great!" Caffrey answered as he took Sarah hand in his. "Who answered?" "Well there was this one, a gallery but it wasn't really what I expected. Then there was the government job and the little boutique at the other side of town." Sarah spoke the last with a little sigh as she cleared the plates for the second course. "So by that sigh I understand that you like the boutique but it's hell to get there?" "Pretty much. You ready for second course? " "Absolutely." He gave her his trade mark smile but there was a little twinkle in it, she noticed. "So what about the government job?" Caffrey inquired. "I don't know if I should take it." "Because?" "I…um" "Sarah?" Caffrey stared at her. "Why are blushing?" He was staring so intensely that she was turning even redder than she already was. "What aren't you telling me?" "Um the government job?" "Yes?" "It's. Um… Kind of in the department below the white collar division's." Caffrey's eyes grew wide. "What?!" "It's a job as a sketch artist for all the departments for the FBI and if I'm any good they might lend me out to other abbreviation's. " She babbled. " And I kinda already said yes." She said in a soft voice. " Ready for the next course?" She asked as she shot up from her chair and grabbed the two empty plate before he could respond. Caffrey slowly got of his chair, walked up to Sarah, gently took her elbow, turned her to him, placed his other hand behind her neck, leaned and kissed her. The same one she gave him that day in her apartment. Their leaned against each other's foreheads when the parted. "So what's for desert."

"Red velvet cake ice cream, a chocolate Oreo brownie with baily's whipped cream and coconut bourbon truffles." She had turned and was already blushing like crazy after the sentence because Caffrey was smiling/grinning at her, with a spoon in hand. "Little too much huh?" "Never." Caffrey took a bit of ice cream and moaned in delight. She quickly put the plate down and went back to her own, safe, seat, all the while blushing. ." {What is he doing? And why am I reacting like a giddy schoolgirl?} She thought to herself. Caffrey continued to do the same with the brownie and truffles. Almost choking in her drink when Caffrey said; "Ow Sarah… this. Is. Delicious" [He's pulling out all the stops. That's what he's doing!] Her naughty side said {WHY!?} (Who cares.) Her 'good side' sighed a little lustfully. While pondering to herself, Caffrey had gotten up, walked up to and extended his hand to her. "Neal?" "Dance with me." She nodded and he guided her to the 'Dance floor'. He did the same as before, he placed one hand on her lower back and the other holding her hand to his chest, they started swaying. She wanted to place her head on his shoulder but he stopped her by placing a finger under her chin and guiding her eyes to his, softly singing with the song:

Oceans apart, day after day
And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice on the line
But it doesn't stop the pain
If I see you next to never
How can we say forever

They looked at each other with understanding. It was so hard for both of them. Having their best friend so far away. Sarah couldn't stop a tear from escaping. Caffrey smiled at her softly when he wiped away the tear. And they both softly sang the chorus.

Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here, waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here, waiting for you

Caffrey took the palm of her and placed a kiss on it before placing her hand on his heart. As he placed his hand on her neck, his thumb softly stroking her cheek. His other hand still on her lower back slowly pushing her closer to him.

I took for granted, all the times
That I thought would last, somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I can't get near you…

Before Caffrey could finish, Sarah got closer only hesitating for a brief second before she kissed him. Full of love, slowly turning in something much more passionate. When they stopped Caffrey couldn't help but sing:

Oh, can't you see it baby
You've got me goin' crazy

Before kissing her again.
