Magnus rushed to the New York Institute as fast as he could. He had taken Jinx with him because he just couldn't leave her alone at their place. Traffic in New York was terrible, even at night. Magnus spent the whole ride towards the Institute cursing mentally at the traffic and anyone who crossed his path. All the while trying to figure out how Jinx knew Alec was hurt. She probably felt it, or saw it on a vision…it was common between warlocks to know things beforehand.
Soon enough he reached the Institute's doors and burst inside. He held Jinx tightly in his arms and he rushed through the halls until he reached the infirmary. Izzy, Jace, and Clary were waiting outside of it. They all stood straighter as they saw Magnus approaching them.
"He's unconscious" Jace informed him "We put some runes on him, but he won't wake up"
"Take care of Jinx" Magnus told them.
He passed Jinx to Izzy, who carried her against her chest. Jinx was dozing in and out of sleep. She rested her head on Izzy's shoulder and closed her eyes. Magnus opened the doors of the infirmary and walked inside, closing the door behind him shut. Maryse was sitting next to Alec's bed. She looked restless and worried out of her mind.
"Magnus" Maryse said standing up "I'm so glad you're here"
"Are all his wounds closed?" Magnus asked rushing to Alec's side and looking him over for injuries.
"We put a healing rune in all of them" Maryse nodded "They're scarring now"
"Good" Magnus nodded "What happened at the asylum?"
"I don't know, I wasn't there" Maryse lamented "For what Isabelle and Jace told me, they were fighting against a nest of demons. Alec got separated from them. A while later the demons started to run off, and they noticed Alec had been hurt. They rushed to his side, but he was already unconscious"
"The demons ran out?" Magnus asked with a frown "That's weird"
"That's what I thought" Maryse nodded "I'm afraid there's more going on in that asylum than we expect"
They were interrupted by Isabelle and Jace walking inside the room. Magnus turned to look at them with narrowed eyes.
"Where's Jinx?" He asked
"She's with Clary" Izzy told him "We put her to sleep in my room and Clary stayed with her"
"We wanted to talk to you" Jace cut in.
"I'm listening" Magnus said, his attention turning once more to his husband.
"The asylum is a whole new level of creepy" Jace said "That place is way too weird, even for our standards"
"What exactly happened there?" Magnus asked
"There was a demon's nest" Izzy explained "Which is incredibly weird because we killed all of the demons a few weeks back and demons don't come back that quick"
"We fought them" Jace continued "We were totally kicking their asses, but then this huge bunch of demons came against us and made us get separated"
"I noticed Alec go to the other side of the room from where we were" Izzy said "There were just too many demons. Each time we killed one, two more appeared. It was madness. But then, this purple light came out of nowhere"
"It was warlock magic" Jace informed them "I could tell for the sparks and the power it contained. We thought it was you who had come to help us"
"My magic is blue, not purple" Magnus frowned
"That's what I thought" Izzy nodded "Whoever it was, it scared the demons. They all started to run off and disappeared. But by the time they were gone, we noticed Alec was lying on the floor"
"There was this shadow standing over him. I thought it was a demon and was about to kill it, when it disappeared" Jace said
"What about the warlock?" Maryse asked "If it wasn't Magnus, who helped you?"
"We don't know" Izzy shook her head "It disappeared together with the demons…we think it might have been the shadow that was next to Alec, but we have no idea who it was"
"Whoever it was, it saved Alec's life" Jace said nodding towards Alec's figure lying on the bed.
Magnus nodded, his eyes roaming over Alec's body. He asked all of them to leave the room so he could make a check up on Alec and heal him if needed. The three Lightwood left soon after, and it was only Magnus and Alec in the room.
Magnus sighed, brushing Alec's hair away from his face. He traced Alec's face with his hand, from his forehead, to his cheek, to his chin. Magnus scanned Alec's body to find any injuries, external and internal, and came out with no results. That was good. At least Alec wasn't hurt and he was alive.
"I'm so glad you're alive" Magnus whispered, resting his forehead against Alec's "I love you so much"
"He'll wake up soon enough" someone said.
Magnus spun around, magic tingling in his hands and he saw a figure standing on the other side of the room. The figure was lean and tall, and had a feminine voice. It wore a black coat with its hood up so Magnus couldn't see her face. It was standing by the cabinets, examining everything inside of them. The flames in Magnus's hands grew stronger as he got ready to attack if needed.
"Don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you or Alec" The figure said
"Sorry, but I don't trust you" Magnus said, taking a few steps to the front and standing in front of Alec's bed "Who are you? And what are you doing here?"
"You know who I am" the figure waved her hand in dismiss "And I'm here to warn you"
"I have no idea who you are" Magnus frowned "Tell me your name!"
"No time for that" The figure said, taking a few steps towards Magnus "You need to go to the asylum and close the portal. The place is getting invaded with demons faster than ever. You have to stop it, and stop your father from doing what he has planned"
"My father? What does my father have to do with this?" Magnus frowned
"He's behind all of this" the figure said "He wants your daughter. He's protecting her now, but he's just going to use her…you have to save her before it's too late"
"How do you know about my daughter?!" Magnus asked "Tell me who are you!"
"I know all about your daughter, and I also know she'll make the greatest mistake if you don't stop this right now!" The figure exclaimed "Stop asking questions and do as I say"
Without warning Magnus shoot a spell towards the figure. The girl waved her hand, dismissing Magnus's spell as if it was nothing. To say Magnus was surprised would be an understatement.
"You don't want to attack me" The figure said coldly "Alec was meant to die today, but I saved him…least you could do is listen to me"
"I owe you nothing" Magnus snapped ready to attack once more
"Please, Daddy, just listen to me"
Magnus's eyes widened as the girl pulled her hood off. She had long black hair that fell in ringlets over her shoulders. Her skin was slightly pale. She looked delicate, yet really powerful. But it wasn't that that caught Magnus's attention. No, it was her eyes. They were cat shaped, just like his own, but instead of green they were color blue.
"Who are you?" Magnus whispered, raising his hands to attack in needed
"I'm your daughter" the girl said with a sad smile "The portal at the asylum is not just between demon's world and reality. It's a drift between time as well. All kinds of spirits are coming through. I was able to run past, but I have to go back soon"
"I…I d-don't know…J-Jinx?" Magnus seemed at the loss of words
"Just the one, but a few years older" the girl shrugged
"But…how?" Magnus asked lowering his hands slowly
"I'm your daughter. I'm magnificent" The girl winked at him.
"Y-You said my father used you? For what?" Magnus asked "How can I stop him?"
"You have to send him back and close the portal" the older Jinx answered "Don't let him get near Jinx…and listen to Max"
"Max?" Magnus asked confused "As in…Max Lightwood?"
"My uncle, yes" The older Jinx nodded "He's also one of my closest friends back in this time. He knows what's going on and he can help you"
"But how is it possible? He's dead!" Magnus exclaimed
"He was one of the first spirits that came through the portal" The girl explained "He's supposed to protect me"
"Where can I find him?" Magnus asked
"The Institute or your home…Jinx knows how to call him" the girl said "I have to go now…close the portal before is too late"
"Where are you going?" Magnus asked taking a step towards the girl, not wanting to see her go just yet
"I have to go back or else really bad stuff can happen" Jinx smiled sadly "We really don't need a paradox to happen"
"Will you be safe?" Magnus asked softly
"I have you to protect me" The older Jinx smiled "I love you Daddy"
And with that she disappeared, leaving Magnus staring into space. Suddenly, Alec gasped from where he was lying and then started coughing.
"Alexander!" Magnus exclaimed rushing towards his husband's side "It's alright, you're alright"
"W-Where's J-Jinx?" He asked "I need to see her"
"She's safe" Magnus promised him
"I thought I saw her at the asylum" Alec said still trying to get back his breath "Where is she?"
"She's asleep in your sister's room" Magnus informed him "And she's completely safe, I promise you"
