AN: I don't own any of the Hobbit characters I am just taking them out of Tolkien's toy box and playing with them.
Merry Christmas to fierynightangel. Thank you for all of your support with my writing and doubly so for agreeing to be my Beta reader. I do not know what I would do without you. Please enjoy.
For everyone who is wondering this related to my chapter 'Lips of an Angel'.
Yule.
Nori could have kicked himself, and would have done so repeatedly if the eyes of the hobbit were not on him, again. He buried his face into his tankard and deliberately ignored just how the hobbit was enjoying his new found treat of peppermint candy canes. It was all his own fault after all.
He'd denied that he had found anything to his liking when the smaller male had questioned him at Bag End and then promptly headed to his assigned room to dream of red lips and woke shaking and sweating.
The following weeks had been a form of torture for him. He had come to realise that the hobbit had a habit of biting his lower lip when he was nervous or touching the tip of his tongue to the middle of his top lip when he was concentrating. Bofur had made the smaller male laugh several times and Nori had been enchanted by the bell like sound falling from those red lips. He had fallen back into his bad habit of staring in those weeks and Dori had started to slap him around the back of his head again. For once he was glad of the interference of his older brother. Waking night after night from erotic dreams of those lips had left his defences down.
It wasn't until he'd caught the hobbit after Thorin rescued him after his fall in the mountains that Nori had noticed Bilbo's expressive eyes. Widened in fright and the lips too pale to draw his attention away from them, Nori had stared into the swirl of brown and green for what seemed like an eternity until they had been set upon by the younger dwarves and Thorin's harsh words had made a shutter fall over the hobbit's emotions.
Bilbo had caught his attention by finding his way back to them after the horror of the goblin tunnels and to Nori's surprise he had felt something relax in his chest. The smaller male had squeezed his hand and muttered a soft thank you. Before he could ponder what the smaller male had to be thankful for they had been running again and then the horror with Thorin and the white orc. He'd been distracted by his brothers' cries and when he'd looked back his heart had nearly stopped in fright as he saw the hobbit standing over the king's fallen form, small against the hulking orcs that approached him. He didn't know what had come over him, but he'd managed to haul himself to his feet and was the first to Bilbo's side.
He'd then watched as Thorin hugged Bilbo wondering at the white flames seemingly licking at his innards. Flames that disappeared as the hobbit left Thorin's arms to wrap his own around Nori's ribs in a hug that felt safe. Nori had allowed himself to relax in that hold, finding that the hobbit smelt of cut grass and chocolate, before they were running again.
At the skin changer's, Beorn's, he had discovered the hobbit's fine singing voice and his eyes once again fell on red lips and his dreams came back with vengeance.
In the gloom of Mirkwood and his inability to see the hobbit in the elven king's dungeons he found himself listening intently to the soft lilt of the smaller male's voice and found that he like that sound.
Things had gotten manic after that and now he was sitting opposite a smiling hobbit at Erebor's first Yule feast since they had reclaimed the mountain. He'd been shocked when the small male had refused to sit in a place of honour at the king's right hand and had taken a seat with the rest of the Company. Then he had been enchanted as he watched the honey-amber curls dance in candle light, successfully drawing his eyes from red lips.
Silence fell around him and Nori realised Bilbo was looking at him with hazy eyes. He cleared his throat, but all attempts at speech were lost when Bilbo licked his lips.
The whoops that followed his unexpected dive at the hobbit didn't faze him as he claimed those red lips for his own. The king's bellows pulled him from the moment until long fingers curls around the back of his neck and Bilbo, finally kissed him back. The scents of cut grass and chocolate filled his nose and he realised Bilbo tasted mildly of peppermint and candy. A clunk had the king quietening down and Nori finally drew away to see Bilbo smiling at him from where he had somehow ended up kneeling on the table top. Those red lips split to show white teeth as his hobbit laughed, not unkindly at him, "Took you long enough."
