The next room obviously had some ancient influence, because there were columns everywhere. Or at least that's what Zelda said. Link, not really caring, followed the columns to the left and down, where they lead to a large blocky door.
Zelda flew high up above Link's head. "Can you see that keyhole, Link?"
"Ummm... No."
"Well, you'll need a specific key to unlock it. Perhaps a gold one with an eye and devil horns..."
Link cocked his head then pulled out his map. "Maybe that's what that large key icon means." Zelda flew over and looked. There was a large key icon in the upper right corner. The two ran to it only to find that it was blocked.
"Just my luck..." Link muttered. He absentmindedly wandered to the only other passage in the room, finding another blocked door and a blue worm.
Zelda gasped. "Link, careful with those." Link nodded, though he didn't see the threat in a small blue worm, and hit it with his sword. It curled up into a ball and grew spikes.
He turned to Zelda. "What was hard about that?"
Zelda wasn't paying attention to him, she was gazing at the rocks behind the worm. "Link, blow the worm into the rocks."
"What'll that do?" Zelda didn't respond, so Link shrugged, pulled out the whirlwind, and blew the worm into the rocks. IT EXPLODED.
"What the-"
"Blastworm. They explode."
"Figures..." Link ran into the new room, then blew away all the purple fog. There was a pressure plate, which dropped a chest with a dragon scale in it, which Link pocketed, another spirit bunny, which the duo ignored happily, and a switch, which Zelda hit.
"What'd it do?" Zelda asked.
"It opened a door."
"The door to the key?"
"Nope. The other door."
"Aww... Figures."
"Yeah." Link walked to the other door. This room was large. There was a pit in the middle with a switch. The switch was behind rocks.
Zelda groaned. "More bowling..."
"What?"
"You have to roll up those blastworms," she gestured to two blastworms edging slowly towards Link, "...then blow them into the switch."
Link did just that. The first worm blew up the rocks, the second one hit the switch.
Zelda smiled. "You're really good at bowling."
"Thanks."
The two ran over to the key. It would obviously fit the door. Zelda grabbed it, but Link was looking at the diagram behind it.
"...I think you should follow it." Link said. "It's a map with an arrow that goes above the first two sets of columns, then between the next set and the wall, then on the other side, then to the door. Seems oddly specific for a trap, so..."
Zelda agreed, and drew the path on the map. Following it, nothing bad happened. The door sunk into the ground after it was unlocked.
Zelda smiled. "This has to be it! Why would there be such a blocker otherwise?"
Link nodded. "Let's go then."
The next room was a really fancy staircase made out of the same stone tile work that the entire dungeon used. There were pots along the sides.
Zelda looked in one of the pots, then said, "Link, there's something red in here..."
Link walked over and broke the pot with his sword. A small shiny red heart floated out of it. Link warily touched it, and the sword absorbed the heart.
"Wow..." Link said. "This...feels rejuvenating. Like it healed me, gave me an extra boost."
"And it was in a pot."
"Well, beggars can't be choosers."
At the top of the stairs was a sign. Zelda read it.
"Step into the blue light to return to the temple entrance." A blue light appeared after she stopped.
"What's this do?" Link asked aloud, stepping into the light. He stepped out the other side, only to find that he was at the temple entrance. "Oh. It was literal. Great."
Just then, the Spirit Fairy flew up to him. "Hey, Link!"
"Oh hi Spirit Fairy!"
"So... Hehehe... Awkward situation here... You know that game show host?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"Well... He told me to wish y'all a happy new year, even though it's the middle of summer."
"Oh. Thanks?"
"It was nothing." The Spirit Fairy flew away.
After Link got back up to the fancy staircase, he found Zelda floating with her arms crossed.
"Hehehe... Sorry, I got sidetracked by a fairy-."
"Hurry up, idiot." Zelda said, pointing to a spiral staircase at the end of the hallway.
