Sam and Hunter managed to make it just in time for the Summerslam kickoff party that started the festivities. It was a celebrity charity event for Be a Star and anti-bullying at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. Hunter wore a black suit and a white button-up with no tie. Sam loved that look on him. She loved watching him in interviews. So collected and well spoken. She wore a light pink mini sequin wrap dress with spaghetti straps and silver rhinestone embellished heels.
Her first time on the red carpet felt so natural. She always felt comfortable on stage. The media asked a few questions about the newlyweds but, they managed to bring back focus to the charity. She couldn't help but, be distracted. The media managed to not bother her about her mother's passing except for one who whispered to her they were sorry for her loss. Vince had addressed it in the press conference earlier and asked them to not interview her about it out of respect.
Once inside the party, she felt more at ease. Watching Hunter made things so much easier for her. She couldn't fathom the fact she was finally the one standing by his side. After all the years of watching him on tv in her living room, she was there with him as his wife. The party went without a hitch and she managed to relax and have fun. Sam got on stage with DJ Pauly D and Hunter. She called up John Cena and challenged him and Pauly D to a rap battle surprising everyone at the party. When she out rapped both men Hunter was in stitches laughing. He couldn't believe his shy wife could do that. He knew she could sing but, she was always surprising him. By the end of the night, many of the other female and male talent started to seem to warm up to her. She introduced herself to some of her favorites and danced most of the night.
Once back to their room Sam flopped across the bed. "As much fun as that was. I'm drained this week has been a lot.."
Hunter walked to her unbuttoning his shirt. "Tell you what. Why don't you let me run you a bath and we can order some room service. I can get an early start on that honeymoon activity.
"That actually sounds great. Why don't you run that bath and I'll order us some food? I'd love if you joined me in that bath." She grabbed his belt loop pressing against him.
"Oh, I plan on it." He reached down kissing her and slapping her on the butt. "Hurry up. Don't keep me waiting."
Sam ordered dinner for them. For the bath some champagne and strawberries with whip cream. When the food arrived she took the little dessert to the bath sitting it on the side of the jacuzzi tub. Hunters eyes opened as he was already relaxing in the water. He had lit candles and was playing some soft music. "Champagne Mr. Levesque?"
"Ummm. Yea. Then get those clothes off and join me." He took the glass and watched her disrobe.
"Do you like what you see?" She dipped her foot into the hot water trying to adjust to the heat. He pulled Sam down into the water in front of him and wrapped his arms around her running his hands over her to help her adjust to the temperature.
"Ummm. Yes, I do." She reached to get a strawberry and whip cream and feed it to him. "Damn baby your so good to me."
"That's just a snack. Just wait till I really take care of you later." She smirked sliding her hands around his waist.
"I like the sound of that." They snuggled into each other relaxing. "I love you... Mrs. Levesque." He joked.
She laughed, "Okay. I can now see why that annoys you when I called you Mr. Levesque all the time. But, I love the sound of that. Mrs. Paul Levesque, Mrs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Mrs, Triple H. Humm? I do love the sound of it."
"You better." He squeezed her ass.
Sunday morning Hunter and Sam joined Shawn and his wife for breakfast. His girls were to meet them later after the autograph signing event so Hunter could spend time with them before they headed to the arena.
"So, H. Your not letting her ringside or me now either? How well you think that's going to work. I figure you have figured out by now she's a fireball when it comes her family." Shawn joked.
"Don't encourage her Shawn. You know how dangerous it could be if she was ringside." Hunter worked at his eggs.
"Just saying. If stuff goes down, I can't hold her back. I saw what she did to Brock. I'm too pretty to have my face busted up. I have to look good for the ladies." They all laughed at Shawn and his wife Rebecca smacked him playfully. "Ok well, at least just one lady." He kissed her hand.
"I'll keep my distance. He banned me ringside. I don't want to be part of his bad mood. I have to sleep with the man." Sam suggested. "But, if Heyman starts his crap...hummm? That's fair game once the match is over."
"Sam! Don't get yourself in trouble. I'll take care of it tonight. Tomorrow you can beat the shit out of Heyman for all I care. Tonight, I want you safe. I don't need to be worried about you." Hunter scolded.
"Ok fine. Just make sure you take care of Brock.
That night at the show was tense. Hunter asked her to go to Vince's office with the girls and Steph. In time for Hunters match, Steph and Sam headed to the backstage area to watch on the monitors. The girls stayed in Vince's office playing with the nanny. Steph was acting weird that night. Shifty really. Sam figured it was since most people backstage were still talking about the divorce.
On the monitor was showing Triple H telling referee Scott Armstrong to throw the rule book out the window when he steps in the ring with Brock Lesnar. Talking about how the match was about the WWE and family. When he said it was about his family Steph took Sam's hand and they stood to watch.
"...No one gets out unless they are pinned or tap out. Scott this is going to be a fight to the finish….LET...US...FIGHT." Chills came over Sam hearing Hunter say that.
"I..need to see him..before." Sam looked at Steph.
Steph shook her head."Go hurry. Before he gets in gorilla position. He won't talk once he's in the zone."
Sam ran to his locker room. Throwing open the door. He looked up intently. Wrapping his hands. "I told you to stay with Steph." He got up and she ran to him throwing her arms around him in tears.
"I just needed to see you one more time before you go out. I'll leave you be. I just needed to say I love you." Going back to the door to leave. "I'll be right behind that curtain once you're done. I promise. No matter what, I won't interfere."
"Sam, wait...this is not a game. You know that. This is about family. My family. You. I have to do this." He went back to wrapping his hands.
"I know. Just come back to me safe. Let me help you with that and I'll go." She sat wrapping his hands.
Later, while watching the screen backstage, electricity was in the air. Everyone backstage was watching intently at the monitors. She could see Hunter standing ready to go on stage. Looking over at Brock she could not help feeling uneasy. She wasn't sure if it was her still grieving heart from losing her mom or the fear that there was just something evil in Brocks ora that night. Brock went out first and Heyman laughed at her as they headed out the curtain. Pointed at her. "That's right ladies. Stay back and let the men take care of things." Steph glared at Heyman as they head through the curtain.
"TIME TO PLAY THE GAME!" Hunters music hit and she could feel her whole body shiver. SHe loved to see him in his element. Even tonight she couldn't help but, feel an excitement when he reached the ring and blew the water. She had fantasies so many times of him taking her in that ring. Alone in an empty arena. Now all she could think about was him and being in his arms unscathed.
Brock had been dominating Hunter through much of the match. Hunter managed a suplex allowing him some time to regain his momentum. He got Brock set up for a pedigree and Brock counters throwing him from the ring. Sam's heart sank seeing him on the floor. "GET UP HUNTER!" Heyman motioned Brock to take advantage and sending him down to the floor. Hunter dodged his advance and set him into the ring announce table. Back into the ring Triple H took the upper hand. Sam could see Brock continually trying to go for the arm. Hunter counteracted the assaults. Hunter hit Brock with a spine buster and Sam knew Brock was starting to wear down.
Shawn came up behind her, "He's tough, little lady. He's going to be ok."
She took Shawns hand in her free one why Steph clung to the other. "I started this. It's my fault." Steph said. Sam just squeezed her hand.
"It's ok Steph. We all make mistakes. That's what tonight is about. Fixing it all. But, for some reason….I don't think this is over between them. This is just a start." Shivers went up her spine knowing it was true. Steph looked at her with a strangely off silence. Knowing she was right.
Hunter hit a pedigree and everyone backstage erupted thinking it was all over. When Brock pulled out of the count. Hunter arose up Brock hit him with a low blow. Hunter fell in pain to the mat. Brock went for a pin and Hunter kicked out. Brock was shocked. Heyman in the background saying "What does it take?"
Hunter managed to pull off another pedigree and Brock turned to get him getting hold of his arm. Brock pressed to break Hunter's arm. Hunter fought to break free. He ended up tapping from pain. Sam could tell Hunter was dragging his arm behind him.
"He's hurt." She heard Shawn say.
"I have to go to him!" Sam cried.
"Sam you can't. Let him get back on his own." Shawn fought her to stay. They waited for Hunter to get backstage.
"YOU!" She ran over to Lesnar as he came through the curtain. "You MONSTER!" She slapped Brock across the face and he grabbed her arm pulling it behind her.
"Sam, Stop! Go to you man. Look at the monitor! He's broken. Don't think for a minute I won't do that same to you." He shoved her to the floor and she looked over at the monitor watching Hunter pick himself from the mat.
Her heart hurt for him. His arm pales in comparison to how he must be feeling about the loss. He looked defeated. She had never seen him this way after a match, win or lose. He looked to the crowd almost apologizing.
She got up and headed over to the curtain letting the medics go first. Hunter made his way to the back. Sam stood trying to not let the tears come. He stopped just inside the curtain and looked at her. "I'm sorry." He just waved the medics away and walked to the room to be treated.
She followed and stood at the door watching the trainers look him over. "Hunter, I think it's broken. We need to send you to get an x-ray." Sam just watched on froze in her place. Hunter looked up and shook his head.
"I tapped. What do you think of your Game now?"
"The same I always have. I see a man who put everything on the line for his family, friends and the job he loves. I see a man with integrity. Something Brock doesn't have. I see a man I love and, I always will." She went to him and laid her head on his forehead. He grabbed the back of her head and sat in silence.
Steph came in. "Paul, the ambulance is here. They are ready."
"Don't tell the girls. Sam stay with me."
"Of course." Sam kissed his forehead.
