Sorry it has taken me this long to up load the chapter.
I have a few things I have to take care of...like my sanity. It's been a little low since my spring semester ended. Though my dog has kept me company while I write and rewrite this chapter.
Anyway! I read the recent chapter of Fairy Tail a few days ago and here is what I have to say about it. . Fudge! I need the next chapter!
I also can't wait still season 3 of Fairy Tail comes out. I hope is comes out soon. :3
Chapter: 26 Bread WinnerI large yawn escaped my mouth.
It was getting late, even for me.
"I need to go to bed," I muttered to myself as I place the last book on the shelf.
Making my way out of the bookshelves another yawn escaped my mouth.
"Now," I mumbled to myself, "where do I sleep?"
Gajeel has the couch and wass unwilling to share or even give the couch to me.
But, to be honest, I have slept in worse things. There have been a few nights where I have slept on my chair and desk.
I stretched my body as I made my way to the desk and chair I was sitting in earlier.
Gently, I pulled the chair out so that I would be able to sit.
Once I pulled it out enough, I sat down and scooted myself in.
Slowly, I folded my arms on the table, so that my head had a place to rest. Because placing your head on a hard flat surface is not very comfortable.
When my arms looked as comfortable enough, I placed my head on my arms and closed my eyes.
It didn't take me long to fall asleep. I was tired and I had just experienced the longest day of my life.
The last thing I remember was the moon light peeking itself between the window curtains.
…
When I awoke, it was surprised that I was no longer on the table. I was actually on the love seat.
'What?'
I lifted my head slightly, confused as to how I was in one location and woke up in another.
'I don't sleep walk,' I thought as a slight frown appeared.
I looked at my surroundings a little more and I blinked a few more times. There was a small blanket on top of me.
"So you're finally awake," a gruff voice answered.
I didn't have to turn my head to see who it was; I already knew who it was.
It was Gajeel.
"What do you want?" I grumbled sourly.
"Well good morning to you too," Gajeel said in a sarcastic tone.
I wanted to face palm.
Slowly, I sat up on the couch.
Then I looked around and to my surprise; Gajeel was in the kitchen area making breakfast.
It looked like he was making eggs, sausage, and bacon.
Slowly, I raised an eyebrow.
"Well, it seems that you are both awake," Porlyusica said as she noticed me.
I turned my head to see that she had just entered the room.
"Yes," I sighed.
It felt like I did not get enough sleep. Then again, I never do.
As I got up from the couch, I rustled my light blue hair before I pulled it back with a ribbon.
"Porlyusica?" I asked.
"Yes?" the old woman asked.
"Do you have, by any chance have a woodphone?" I asked.
"I do not," the woman said.
"Okay, thank," I replied thanking Porlyusica.
"Why did you need it?" the pink haired woman asked.
"I just wanted to inform my friends and master of the situation that we are in,"
"Oh,"
And with that, the old women picked a pitcher from a table nearby and made her way back the door she left.
"We should go; we've stayed long enough," Gajeel said out of nowhere.
"We've over stayed our welcome" I stated
"Yes,"
I nodded.
Both Gajeel and I were on the page. We knew, if we stayed any longer, Porlyusica could be in danger as well.
"We'll leave after we eat?" I asked as I walked in the kitchen.
"Yes,"
I walked next to Gajeel and he was indeed making eggs, sausage, and bacon.
"Why don't you be a woman and get the table ready?" Gajeel asked.
'Really?'
"Okay," I shrugged, "where are the plates,"
Gajeel didn't say anything for a moment.
"Wait a minute, you don't know where the plates are?"
"Do you?" Gajeel asked as he raised an eyebrow at me.
"No, Porlyusica won't let me back here,"
"So this is your first time?" Gajeel asked.
I glared.
"So how did you convince Porlyusica that you wanted to make breakfast?" I asked, curious as to how he did it.
"I didn't"
"So… you just decided to make breakfast without asking Porlyusica?!"
"No!" Gajeel said annoyed
"So you did ask her?"
"Yes,"
"What did she say?" I asked
"If you catch you in my kitchen, I'll make sure you can't have any children,"
Concern washed over my face.
"But she hasn't caught me yet, so it's fine," Gajeel said waving off my concern.
I took a few steps back until I was completely out of the kitchen.
"Porlyusica is not someone you want to anger," I advised.
"I'm not someone you want to anger," Gajeel scuffed.
"Porlyusica is much scarier,"
Gajeel raised a studded eyebrow.
We looked at each other for a moment.
"I value my life,"
"…Okay,"
I slowly walked away from the scene until I was back on the couch.
I stood there for a moment, I didn't want to just stand there and do nothing. I was a guest at someone's place.
Looking around to see what I could do. I then saw the blanket that was laying on the couch.
'I should fold the blanket,' I shrugged to myself.
I bent down to pick up the blanket to begin to fold it.
It didn't take me long to fold it and place it on the love couch, but as soon as I was done, Porlyusica entered the room again.
"Where is Mr. Redfox?" Porlyusica asked.
I hesitated.
"Well?"
I was not sure if I wanted Porlyusica to know that Gajeel was in the kitchen but if she found out that I was not telling the truth to her we would both feel her wrath.
"Uh…he's in…the kitchen," I pointed to the kitchen
"He is, is he?"
I meekly nodded.
Porlyusica marched her way to the kitchen.
Once the elderly woman disappeared in the kitchen then woman was yelling at Gajeel.
"What did I tell you earlier?!" Porlyusica scolded.
"Oi, Oi, I was just making some breakfast,"
"I told you not to go in the kitchen!"
"C-Calm down!"
"I warned you!"
"Hey, Hey! Not the broom!"
I heard a loud slap.
"Ow!"
"Get out of the kitchen!" Porlyusica scolded again.
Another loud slap.
"Ow, okay! Okay I'm getting out!"
Gajeel appeared in the next few seconds.
The large man look annoyed.
"You told her?" Gajeel asked as he walked up to me.
"I-I had to," I stuttered.
Gajeel gave me a look that suggested, 'really?'
I pouted.
'He doesn't believe me,'
Gajeel and I looked at each other, both annoyed with each other.
"What are you still doing here?!"
Both the large man and I looked to see that Porlyusica was standing just outside of her kitchen.
"But we haven't eaten yet," Gajeel stated.
"I don't care!" Porlyusica scolded, "Now get out!"
"Y-yes Ms. Porlyusica," I stuttered as I made my way to the door.
"Oi, what about my breakfast?" Gajeel asked.
Gajeel was obviously more concern about his breakfast than what Porlyusica would do to him.
I shuttered lightly.
"Are you defying me?" Porlyusica asked.
My blood ran cold.
Porlyusica's voice had changed. It was not her usual tone of voice that she used.
Her voice sounded a little darker and smoother.
I saw that Porlyusica was standing a few feet from Gajeel.
"Gajeel!" I yelled, "We need to leave"
"Why?"
"When Porlyusica is mad, she is mad,"
I marched my way to Gajeel and pulled on his arm, begging him to leave with me.
"You should listen to her,"
"What can you do?" Gajeel asked, testing Porlyusica.
"A lot more than you think," Porlyusica smiled.
My heart stopped beating for a moment.
"Uh, don't you worry, Ms. Porlyusica, we were just leaving," I smiled as I pulled Gajeel arm a little harder than before.
Gajeel finally gave a sigh and gave in.
We walked towards the door.
"Thank you Ms. Polyusica,"
"Hph,"
Gajeel opened the door and we both left.
I closed the door behind us.
Once we were on the other side of the door I gave a loud and refreshing sigh.
"That was close," I breathed.
"Close?" Gajeel asked.
I nodded.
"Why is that?" Gajeel asked.
"When Porlyusica was younger, she was the head nurse of the Zulu War."
"Didn't that last, like, two to three days?" Gajeel asked.
I nodded.
"However, many people were killed and injured,"
"That is what a war is for, killing and injuring your enemies until you win,"
"That's beside the point,"
"Then what is?"
"Porlyusica had a lover who was in the war…she tried every way possible to save him, but she couldn't."
Gajeel didn't say anything.
"She watched as her lover died in front of her and there was nothing she could do,"
We were both quiet for a moment.
"Master told me that when Porlyusica was younger, she was much nicer," I said softly.
"So the battle hardened her heart," Gajeel added.
I gave a slow and sad nod.
"Then how did she get the library?" Gajeel asked, changing the subject lightly.
"At the time, both Master and Polyusica lover were friends. So in debt to his friend, Master asked if Polyusica would join Fairy Tail."
"Fairy Tail?" Gajeel asked, "I thought it was formed when your father was the founder?"
I shook my head.
"No, Fairy Tail was created before my father was born."
"Oh…"
"He was the one who built and created the newer version of the building," I explained.
"Then who was the founder of Fairy Tail?" Gajeel asked
"Her name was Mavis Vermillion,"
"A girl?" Gajeel asked in surprise.
A small smile formed.
"Fairy Tail is certainly different," Gajeel stated.
I nodded.
"We've always been that,"
"I can tell,"
I small giggle escaped my mouth.
"Now, we should get going, fatty and speedy are probably worried about you,"
I nodded.
Both of us made our way to the main door of the library.
"I better eat something," Gajeel grumbled.
"Why?" I asked curiously.
"Cause I'm fucking hungry,"
I patted Gajeel's arm gently.
"Don't worry; you'll eat something soon,"
"Ya sure?" Gajeel asked.
I nodded.
"The library is near the guild and the house."
"How close to close?"
"The guild is a few blocks,"
"Well, it's better than the other side of this fucking town," Gajeel grumbled.
I nodded, "but if you would like, there is a small bakery on the way back"
"There is a bakery?"
"Yes, they make fresh bread every morning," I smiled.
"Fine, but you're paying little fairy," Gajeel smiled.
I shrugged, "That's fine, since you don't have any money on you anyway,"
Gajeel gave me an irritated look.
"Don't remind me,"
I laughed.
"What is so funny?!"
I couldn't respond.
"tsk, all you fairies are weird,"
As I was settling myself down, I wiped a tear from my eye.
"Indeed we are," I responded in between giggles.
Once we were finally at the doors, I opened the door and was greeted by sun light and warmth.
"Ah, it feels so nice," I hummed.
"You can enjoy the sun as we're walking to the bakery," Gajeel advised.
"Oh, but it feels nice to have the sun beating down on you"
"It does, but we have to worry about our surroundings,"
My happy mood lowered a little, "You're right,"
"Oi,"
"Hm?"
Gajeel placed his large hand on the top of my head.
"Just because we have to watch ourselves, don't mean we can't enjoy it either,"
A sad smile appeared on my face.
I raised my hands to slowly take Gajeel's hand off my head.
"You can't have cake and eat too,"
We were both silent for a moment.
"Anyway, we should get going, everyone is probably worried,"
"…Yes, we should," Gajeel said softly.
Neither of us wanted to talk, I tried to keep my eyes forward. However, occasionally, I had to look around. If any of the members from Tartarous, Raven Tail, or Phantom Lord appeared. Gajeel and I would be doomed. We would be outnumbered and no means to defend ourselves.
"Anything?" I asked nervously.
"No, and I want to keep it that way,"
I nodded.
We walked a little more.
I was glad that there were people around, but at the same time I wasn't. Any of the members could be hiding their identity.
"How much longer?"
"To the bakery?" I asked
"Yes,"
"It's around the corner,"
"Good,"
I looked up at Gajeel and gave him a strange look.
"Something doesn't feel right,"
I frowned, "Like someone is following?"
"No, I just have a bad feeling,"
"Like a combination of butterflies and a bad feeling?" I asked.
"Yes," Gajeel nodded.
I nodded, "I get those too,"
We turned the corner and we both quickly walked down the sidewalk until I spotted the bakery.
It was a small store that sat in between other stores. Though not very many local people know about the bakery many of the members of Fairy Tail know of its location. It is a popular spot for members to buy a few pieces of bread and pastries every now and then.
I quickly opened the door so that we were both in the store.
"Welcome!" an older man greeted.
"Good morning Gildarts," I chirped as I walked further into the store.
Gildarts was an older man; he looked to be in his late 30s. But he looked quite well for his age. Though Gildarts is a nice man, he also has a glare that could kill. He normally does not cut his hair because his red hair that is all sits on the back of his head and it all stops just above his shoulders.
"Levy!" Gildarts smiled.
The man ran around the counter, jogged towards me, and gave me a bear hug.
"I haven't seen you in so long!"
"It's good to see you too," I choked.
"And look at you, you are looking more and more like your mother,"
"Th-thank you,"
Gildarts let go.
"Would you like your usual?" Gildarts asked still smiling like an idiot.
I nodded, "and can you please add a few more items as well?"
"Of course," Gildarts smiled.
The man made his way back behind the counter and began to place my usual order in two bags. Once he was done, he placed them on the counter.
I turned to Gajeel, "what would you like?"
Gajeel walked until he was standing next to me.
The large man looked around the display case.
"There is a lot of variety," Gajeel noted.
"Every winter and spring, I travel to different parts of the world. I often use that time to learn the cultures, food, and language." Gildarts smiled.
"But I know more about language than you do Gildarts." I teased Gildarts with a smile.
"That is true," Gildarts chuckled.
Gajeel was surprised but at the same time, pleased. Then he looked at the display case again and looked at the breads.
"Alright," the large man said, "I know what I want,"
"Alright," Gildarts smiled, "I'm ready whenever you are,"
"Two croissants, three bisects, a baker's dozen of macarons, two donuts, and four cannoli."
The man behind the counter grabbed all the items and placed them all in a bag.
"Alright," Gildarts said as he grabbed the other two bags and placed them near the cash register.
"Let's see," I thought out loud as I went through my pocket, "how much sill that be?"
"369 Jewels," Gildarts said.
I hummed as I searched my pocket, pulled out a 400, and gave it to Gildarts.
Gildarts placed the money in the register and gave me my change.
"Thank you," I smiled.
"It's not a problem," Gildarts said.
I grabbed two of the bags from the counter.
"Gajeel?" I asked, "Can you grab the other bag?"
Gajeel shrugged, "Sure,"
The large man went to the counter to grab the bag.
Just as Gajeel was about to grab the bag, Gildarts grabbed the top of Gajeel's shirt. Their faces were only inches from each other's face. The Gildart's eyes were dark and hallow.
"If you ever hurt her," Gildarts threatened, "you will wish you were never born,"
"So," Gjaeel scuffed, "You know about my past?"
"I know of you and what you have done,"
"Everyone knows what I did,"
"And ifyou ever hurt her and her friends,"
"I won't," Gajeel growled.
They glared at each other for a few more seconds before Gildarts let go of the Gajeel's shirt.
Gajeel quickly grabbed the bag, turned around, and marched his way to the door.
I gave Gildarts a bit of a scorned look and gave a small sigh.
Gildarts is a father figure in Fairy Tail. He tries to protect the younger members of Fairy Tail as if he were our father. But because he travels a lot, we rarely see him.
"Will you be stopping by Fairy Tail?" I asked Gildarts.
Gildarts sighed, "I'll see what I can do,"
I gave a small nod.
It is rare for Gildarts to be in the guild. Though, I don't blame him. He often travels and he has a business to keep afloat.
"If you ever stop by, you know the door is always open,"
Gildarts gave a smile and nodded.
I smiled back and slowly turned around to go to the door.
I used my back to push open the door.
"What took you so long?" Gajeel asked.
I turned to Gajeel, "I'm sorry, I was talking to Gildarts.
Gajeel stuffed a donut in his mouth.
"Whatever," Gajeel responded with his mouth full.
I rolled my eyes.
"Don't mind Gildarts," I told Gajeel.
"The guy was threatening me!"
"He means well," I sighed.
Gajeel mumbled.
"He's just worried,"
"Yeah, I'm not the type of guy your parents would like,"
I nodded.
"Oi, you're not supposed to agree," Gajeel responded irritated.
"It's true though," I answered.
"tsk,"
We walked a little more before I changed the subject.
"Why did you get so much food?" I asked.
"I was hungry,"
"I was too, but isn't that a bit much?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"No," Gajeel swallowed his food.
'Okay,'
"Anyway, we should make our way towards Fairy Tail," I said.
"Sounds good to me," Gajeel said as he inhaled another pastry in his mouth.
"Your stomach is like a bottomless pit," I explained
Gajeel gave a small smile as he ate his pastry.
We continued to walking and talking towards Fairy Tail. No subject was off limits, it was strange; it was easy talking to Gajeel. Maybe it was because we finally got comfortable with each other. Or maybe we are finally on the same page and we understand each other better. But whatever the reason, it seems that our relationship between the two of us if getting better.
Hmmm...it seems that there is some chemistrybetween Gajeel and Levy...I wounder what the next chapter has in store of us :D
And again I'm really, really sorry it has taken me this long to up this chapter up...it's been a little hard for me, emotionally. There was drama at the end of the semester and when I came home. But I think it is finally settling down a little. But I am also worrying about scholarships, job, and writing. So, there is a lot on my plate :P But do not worry I'm still writing! (that's all that matters, LOL)
Now, on to comments!
To Mechanical-Rose-Sama: It seems that things are moving along quite nicely in the love department.
