The Wedding 26

Wade/Jesse/Brick:

There was a loud pounding at the door and Wade was groaning. It felt like he just got to sleep after talking to Jesse early in the morning. He swore underneath his breath and threw on a T-shirt and a pair of shorts before he was ready to confront the person who woke him up. He was about to yell at the person sitting in the living room when he realized it was Brick.

"Brick, this is a surprise. What are you doing here this early in the morning?"

"I'm sorry to bother you this early. I wanted to talk to you about Zoe and catch you before you go back to the hospital to visit."

"Did something else happen that I'm not aware about? Lavon told me about Mrs. Hart yesterday."

"No, there is something else that I wanted to talk to you about. It's Zoe's attitude. From what Dr. Brown has stated, she has only opened up to you, meaning, she is placing all of emotions onto you."

"I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're saying Brick."

"I'm worried that Zoe isn't getting the help that she really needs because she thinks that you're all she needs in her life. She refuses to discuss anything else. As for Mrs. Hart, she was roughed up pretty badly from Zoe. Her own mom fears for her safety."

Wade didn't realize how serious things got. He couldn't fathom what was going on with Zoe. "Do you have any idea what triggered the whole incident?"

"Joel Steven's name came up and she snapped."

"The baby. It's a reminder of what she no longer has. Damn!"

Jesse overhears the conversation and butts in. "Wait, Zoe was pregnant?"

Wade turns to Jesse and says "Yes. She was 5 months along and no, she didn't know what she was having. It was supposed to be a surprise."

"Wow! That's sad to hear. I'm sorry for her loss. That might explain what Lemon meant when I talked to her."

Brick turns to Jesse and says "You spoke to my daughter…when?"

"I had run into her in the cemetery on my way to dad's place. We talked for a bit and she told me that everyone was out to get her. I guess I know the reason why."

Wade didn't say anything while Jesse was having this conversation with Brick. He knew the true reason why Zoe did what she had to do and he still blames Lemon for the reason why Zoe is where she's at. There was no one who could change his mind about that. He was caught up in his thoughts when Jesse shouted his name.

"Hey, where did you go there?"

"Just thinking."

"I was just telling Brick that the only person who could clear up this misunderstanding is Zoe. Maybe it's not what everyone is making it out to be."

"This is all Lemon's fault Jesse. I know that you and Brick don't want to believe it, but Zoe confided the truth in me before all this happened. All I'm going to say is, make sure she is out of my sight and to stay away from Zoe."

Jesse looks at his brother and couldn't believe the venom spewing from him. It was obvious that Wade knew more than he let on. Brick on the other hand was torn. He wanted to believe that Lemon couldn't do something like this, but he knew it was possible. She has been known to interfere with other people's lives and not thinking of the consequences.

Brick turns to Wade and says "Look, I know you're upset about this, but we need to focus on Dr. Hart right now. She needs help."

"I'll do anything for Brick. You don't even have to ask."

….

Lavon/AB:

"Hey AB, I know that this week has been hard on everyone, but I promise to make it up to you. I haven't forgotten about you."

"Focus on Zoe sweetie. It's important that she knows that we're all behind her."

"Hopefully things are better today. I'm supposed to meet Wade in a bit."

"Alright. Why don't you take care of that, and I'll go and check on someone else. Oh, by the way, George Tucker was sniffing around here. He wanted to know where Zoe was being held, but I didn't relay that information to him."

"Why is George worried about her? He's got his hands full with Lemon."

"Not anymore. Remember, they broke up."

"Right. I'm not sure that George needs to be involved with Zoe at this time. She's got her hands full with recovery. Thanks for letting me know."

"You're welcome. If you see Zoe, tell her I said Hi."

Dr. Hart/Dr. Brown:

Dr. Brown walks into Zoe's room to see how she is faring today after last night's incident. He hopes that she understands what happened to her mom and is sorry about it.

"Dr. Hart, how are you feeling today?"

"Dr. Brown, has Wade arrived yet?"

"No, he's not here yet. I'm not sure if he's coming. He didn't say when I last spoke to him."

"He's coming. He promised me he would be back."

"I'll take your word for it. I wanted to talk to you about last night Dr. Hart."

"What about it?"

"It concerned your mother Dr. Hart."

"My mother? "

"Yes, your mother. She was here last night visiting you."

"No she wasn't Dr. Brown. If she was, I would have remembered her. I'm not sure what game you're playing, but it's a nice one."

"You don't remember her being here last night?"

"That's what I just said Dr. Brown. Why are you repeating what I've already told you?"

"No reason. I just wanted to make sure I heard you correctly."

"Dr. Brown, how much longer do I have here? I'm bored out of my mind."

"Well it depends on you. I told you that if you continued you're treatment and followed directions, you would be released soon."

"You told me that? When? I don't remember that conversation."

"I told you yesterday. "

"It might have slipped my mind. What did you want to tell me about my mom?"

"It can wait Dr. Hart. Get some rest and I'll let you know if Wade shows up."

"Okay. I can't wait to see him."

Dr. Brown leaves the room and jots down what just happened in the room. It looks like Dr. Hart is suppressing all the bad memories and only thinking of the good ones. This equals trouble.

Lavon/Wade/Jesse/Brick:

Lavon knocks on Wade's door and is surprised to see Jesse and Brick. "Jesse, it's been a long time. When did you get back and how long are you staying in town?"

"Lavon, I got here last night and I'm not sure how long. It all depends on circumstances. I heard that you guys were heading out to the hospital. Mind if I come along?"

"Wade turns to Jesse and asks "You want to come along? Why?"

"I just thought you could use the support. I mean it's Zoe right."

"Okay. You can come along. I just don't want any talk about Lemon along the way."

Jesse puts his hands up and agrees to his terms.

"Wade, Jesse, Lavon and I will go in my car that way you guys can catch up."

Lavon and Brick headed up before them. Wade wanted to talk and told Jesse to wait around.

"What are you really up to Jesse? Why so interested all of a sudden?"

"Maybe I just want to get to know my future sister-in-law better. Is that a crime?"

Wade groans and says "he told you."

"Yep. I didn't think I'd ever hear those words."

"Shut up and get in. Do not mention this to anyone!"

"My lips are sealed Bro."
