Chapter Twenty-Six (26): Memory losses Part I

After weeks of hard work, Jessie could now walk on her own as long as she had her cane with her. She was now cleared for desk duty and was glad to be near the team once again, and working with Garcia when the team had to fly somewhere to solve a case.

Today was a typical case. But this one was in Virginia itself. Because this was a local case, Jessie was permitted to work at the station only with Reid and Prentiss and to work on creating the profile for their current case. Spencer and Rossi had gone out to get coffees for the team, while JJ, Jessie and Emily were looking at the evidence board. Morgan and Callahan were on their way back from the latest crime scene with the lead detective. Hotch on the other hand was having a serious call with Chief Blake and the Director about a group of men that had been holding law enforcements as hostages, killed all of them and then escaped. As the team leader kept talking, he received a fax from Garcia, who had captured a visual face of one of the men of the gang: potentially the leader.

Suddenly a group of men ran inside, carrying a man, who was screaming in pain. The entire precinct was alerted and many officers were heading towards the injured, who then pulled out an AK-47 and shot all three in the chest and head, killing them. The group of men then pulled out their AK-47's and AP Pistols at the entire precinct.

"Drop your weapons! We're all armed and ready to take you all out if needed!" the faked injured man shouted as he revealed that he had a bomb strapped onto him.

'That's how they overran the other precincts…' Hotch thought as he quickly told Blake to alert Morgan and Rossi about the situation, before a member of the group shot the phone on the office table to pieces. The man slammed the back of hid AK against Aaron's right temple, knocking him out cold.

"Tie him up!" he ordered, as someone came in and quickly cuffed Hotch and dragged his limp body into the precinct's bullpen, where everyone were gathered.

"I'm 1, the leader of this group! We've suffered under you're cruel ways of treating and purposely using your badge of power to get your way with everything and everyone! You three women, come here!" 1 ordered.

Two men who had their guns pointed at Prentiss, JJ and Jess pushed their weapons against their backs until they moved towards their group leader. They eventually made their way to the leader and were forced to kneel in front of him.

"Who are you and what're you doing here?" he commanded but received no answer, "Very well…" He said, before swinging his foot and kicked Grey in the face and continued to kick her in the head for about ten second, but to Emily it felt like an eternity before he stopped, "I'll ask again! Who are you and what are you doing here!?"

"We're FBI! We're here to help this precinct to catch and stop you crazy bastards" Emily growled back at the leader, who immediately backhanded her.

"Well it's a good thing we decided to hit here after all boys! We've got ourselves some F.B.I to kill today!" at this the men cheered and laughed happily at this.

"Why are you doing this? You said they used their badge to get their way. What do you mean?" JJ asked quietly.

"Five! Grab Lieutenant Parker and Officer Bradley!" once both men were brought upfront the leader walked behind them and glared down at them, "Officer Bradley here was bribed to lie on the stand about the sexual assault of Ashley Blunt. The rapist was none other than Lieutenant Parker here! … Proceed, Five" he ordered.

Five shot both Parker and Bradley in the back of the head, killing them instantly. Everyone was shocked into silence as they stared at the lifeless bodies of two LEOs. 1 then crossed something on a piece of paper and was about to call out the next guilty parties, when Emily spoke up.

"Killing them makes you stoop to their level!" the brunette agent spoke, after she stopped staring at her still unconscious wife, "You're all nothing but psychopathic vigilantes with a sick version of justice! I'll enjoy watching all of you at your executions"

2 quickly silenced Prentiss by slamming the back of AK repeatedly in the back of her head, knocking her unconscious as well. Leaving JJ and Reid to figure out a way to get into the UnSubs minds, especially their leader's mind.

"Anyone else wants to speak his or her minds?" no one spoke up, "Good! Next on the list…" the leader of the group was interrupted when a phone line started ringing. Slowly, he carefully picked the receiver up and placed it against his ear and demanded who was on the other line.

"This is Agent David Rossi of the FBI. Am I speaking to the one in charge?"

"Indeed you are, Agent Rossi. You're interrupting me from punishing the corrupted Police officers"

"How are they corrupted?"

"They lie and protect each other in this brotherhood gang and they turn their backs when someone offers money or something more, when they're suppose to uphold the law! They'll never receive justice so we've taken matters into our own hands!" the leader explained.

"I see and understand you're frustration, but hurting and killing them is only sending a negative message. That there's no fair justice, don't you want them to pay for their corruption in prison?"

"And be protected by their own in prison? No! They need to suffer like we've all suffered! Now what do you want Rossi?"

"I need you to show some faith and trust by releasing my agents, especially one of the female agents. You see she's pregnant and by releasing her, at least, it'll show that you are willing to work with us and it'll be mentioned after we resolve this"

"…" 1 looked at the FBI group and demanded JJ to tell him if she was the one who was with child. Jareau told him that it was the agent with the shortest hair that was pregnant, "… Alright I'll release her, but only her!"

"Would I be pushing it, if I asked if you could released any badly injured officers and federal agents?"

"… I'll let the innocent officers and two feds that are injured out… that's all you're getting! The rest remain!" he told him with no room for argument in his voice.

"Thank you…" Rossi told Callahan and Morgan to go get any injured cops or agents to a medic.

Derek flinched when he saw how badly beaten Jessie was and carried her bridal style over to the nearest medic bus, while Kate helped Hotch and then Prentiss to the medics. Minutes later, the doors were locked. Meanwhile the head of SWAT had placed several Snipers around the building and each one had a member of the group locked as a target. They just needed Rossi's okay to shoot all six members and get everyone out of the precinct. Morgan had received a picture of the bomb from Garcia and was looking it over to see how it could be turned off. The dark agent knew that it had to be one of three wires, but which one was it?

Back inside the police station, JJ noticed that the leader kept holding a yellow wire on the attached bomb. The blonde agent was profiling the leader of the group and knew that he was having second thoughts about maybe using the device. The yellow wired was the second wire of three.

Seeing how the leader looked he was cracking, Rossi gave the single to the leader of SWAT and several shots were fired at once. The rest of SWAT stormed inside and seized the room, making sure that all members were either dead or had no weapons near or on them.

"THE BOMB'S ACTIVATED!" one SWAT member shouted, alerting everyone.

"Everyone get out of here now!" another SWAT member ordered, getting everyone out, except for Morgan and ATF.

As he kneeled in front of the bomb, he heard JJ shouting and looked over at her. She kept saying about how the guy kept holding onto the yellow wire and that he looked nervous. She then told him to cut the yellow wire, which he doubted at first, but soon gave faith to his colleague and cut the yellow wire: the timer stopped! Derek sighed out in relief and wiped the sweat from his forehead, before leaving the scene and walked over to JJ and hugged her tightly, before thanking her.

"Just doing what I was trained to do, profiling" the blonde agent answered, before she remembered about Emily and Jessie.

As Aaron opened his eyes, he saw the rest of his subordinates smiling at him. Rossi welcomed him back to the world of the living and placed a supportive hand on his shoulder.

"What happened?" the team leader asked.

"The group took the precinct hostage, we were able to save 80% of the LEO's at the precinct" Reid answered in a fact tone.

"SWAT were later able to shoot all of them, before they killed anyone else" JJ told her boss and dear friend.

"Where are Grey and Prentiss?" Hotch asked worriedly.

"They were both badly beaten after we were taken hostage" Spencer said before continuing, "All four are okay, is what the head nurse told us"

"Four? As in, twins plus their parents?"

"Yeah, we were all surprise and happy to hear that news" Derek said with a smile on his face, "I was just about to go check on them right now. They're in the same room, across the hall from you Hotch. So once you're better you can go check up on them yourself man"

"Good… I'm just going to rest for a bit…" he told his team, before he shut his eyes and let sleep consume him.

Meanwhile in Jess and Prentiss' room, Emily had woken up and had no idea where she was or who she is. The brunette looked over and saw a woman sleeping in a bed next to her and wondered what had happened to her.

"Hey look who's awake!" Morgan said as he and the rest of the team walked in the room, "How you feeling princess?"

"Who? Wait a second, who are all of you?" Em demanded in a scared and worried tone.

"Em, it's us. You really don't remember?" JJ asked, when she received a shake of the head, the blonde woman turned to Reid, "Spence, get a nurse or doctor here please"

"Sure thing" was all the young genius said as he hurriedly left the room.

"So you all know who I am?" the longhaired brunette asked the team.

"Yeah, we've been working together and been as close as a family for almost ten years now" Rossi answered, before looking to a awakening Jessie, "How are you feeling kiddo?"

"Like I was hit with a shovel… are you the doctor?" right then everyone couldn't believe that not one but two of their own had lost their memories. Minutes later, the doctor and a nurse walked in the room, followed by Spencer.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Roberts. I see our two agents are awake now. Dr. Reid informed me about Miss Prentiss' memory lost"

"It's not just Agent Prentiss Dr. Roberts, it's also Agent Grey" Rossi informed.

"Who?" both brunettes said at the same time.

"I was looking over their brain scans, before Dr. Reid came o find me, which revealed a lot of brain swelling. This isn't surprising for me to hear this, agents. It will take some time, but they'll regain their memories again"

"When though?" JJ asked with a lot of concern for her friends and family members.

"Days, weeks, even months I'm afraid" Roberts answered with sadness, "I'm sorry I can't be of anymore help agents" was all he said before leaving the room with the nurse, leaving the rest of the team in shock and disbelief.

"Wait a sec… how come she and I have the same rings on our fingers?" Grey asked out loud.

"Who's going to tell them?" Derek asked, and everyone looked over at Rossi.

"Fine! I'll tell them"

"MOMMY! MAMA!" Matty loudly said as he spotted his mothers.

"Let them come to you Matthew, remember they got hurt so be gentle alright?" Elizabeth told her grandson softly.

"Yes, G-ma" he replied in a whisper, before making his way over to Em and hugged her legs, "Miss mommy"

"I… huh missed you too little guy" Em said while holding back her emotions. Not only was she a mother and married to the woman standing next to her, but also she couldn't remember her own son.

Richard approached his daughter and introduced himself before hugging his daughter and daughter-in-law, "How are you dealing with this Emily?"

"It's really hard…dad"

"Up mama, please" Matty asked Jessie, who didn't know what to do. The shorthaired brunette picked up the young child. Matthew then hugged his mama around the neck and placed a kiss on her cheek, which choked her up, "Why you cry mama?"

"I'm just so happy to see you" Jess answered with tears in her eyes. She soon handed him over to an emotional Emily and welcomed an awkward hug from her parents-in-law.

"We're going to drive you both home and stay until you're all settled alright?" the semi-retired ambassador suggested.

"That sounds perfect, miss… I mean mom"

"What do I call the both of you?" Jess asked nervously.

"You call use Richard and Elizabeth" Richard told her softly with a loving smile gracing his face, which made Grey smile as well.

They talked for a little while. Mostly asking about her parents and what they do and their past and how they are now. When Jessie saw how hard it was for Emily to take in the hard past that she and her mother had, the shorthaired woman held Em's hand in a comforting matter, which made her in laws very happy to see that the old Jessie was still there for their daughter. After they were told that their animals, clothing and some of their things were brought fron their home to the mansion, the couple was showed where they'd be sleeping until they were comfortable enough to go back home or their memories would returned, whichever came first.

CM~BAU~CM~BAU~CM~BAU~

As both women entered their room, two very happy feline welcomed them home, along with a very happy every growing puppy. Richard took Pepper in his arms and told the women that she'll be in the master bedroom with them, instead of with his daughter and daughter-in-law.

"Where's Matthew?" Jessie asked.

"He's in the joint room to your left, where that door is over there" Elizabeth answered, "Let me just turn the baby monitor on and I'll you two get ready for bed alright. Good night dear and good night Jessie, see you tomorrow morning" the ambassador said as she and her husband left the room and closed the door, before walking away.

"So… you tired?" Jess asked her supposed wife.

"I am, actually. How about you?" Em asked with a little tint of blush on her face. Even though she had lost her memories of this person, there was just something about her that gave her butterflies in her stomach.

"I am a bit tired as well. Come on, let's get some sleep alright?" the shorthaired brunette suggested, as she looked through the bag that had her name on it and pulled out a pair of shorts and a sports bra.

Emily felt nervous about changing in front of Grey, so she decided to go change in the bathroom. After brushing her teeth, she walked out and saw that her wife was already in bed and probably reading something on her tablet. The longhaired brunette slid in the bed and shut her lamp off, before laying her back to her wife. After a couple of minutes she tossed and turned, earning the attention of Jessie, who was a bit concerned.

"Maybe we should sleep in separate rooms, until we're more comfortable with one another"

"Its not that… I want to try something, but I'm not sure you're ready for what I want to try"

"Alright, what is it that you want to try?"

"May I lay my head on you?" the older brunette shyly asked, while trying to hide her blush.

"Sure" Grey answered back with a soft smile on her lips, which made Em blush even redder. Prentiss got as close to her wife as possible and placed her head onto Jess' shoulder and immediately felt at peace. Minutes later she was fast asleep, while Grey watched her sleep until the younger women fell asleep as well.
