AN: Hey y'all! Just wanted to take a sec to say thank you so much for all of the faves, follows, reviews, and reads on the last chapter. Y'all are awesome readers and I love having y'all around. Sorry it took so long for this update. Things kind of took an unexpected turn with it and as much as I tried to fight it I couldn't. So, rather than keep you in suspense any longer I will just say enjoy and I'll have another AN at the bottom of the chapter. Enjoy!

"We're already married," Jane said as she looked into hazel green eyes. "Hey, don't look at me like that. I know it wasn't the best thing to say at the moment, but it was all I could come up with. I was taken by surprise." The infant in Jane's arms just cooed at her in reply and Jane smiled down at her beautiful daughter in return.

"I got to take you by surprise the way you did me all those Christmases ago."

Jane turned her smile towards her wife who was standing near the door of the nursery. "Sorry, did I wake you?"

"No, I woke on my own and realized you weren't in bed and that the monitor wasn't on. I didn't need detective skills to put those pieces together.

"Really?" Jane questioned with a fake huff. "You got jokes, and the tiny one over here's got looks. I'm just getting it from both my girls tonight."

Maura moved into the room and made her way to the double gliding chair with the ottoman they had gotten for the nursery. "Has she been very fussy?"

Jane shook her head in the soft lighting from the nightlight in the room. "I think she's just having one of her nights where she can't sleep. Suppose I was having one too, so we ended up in here together."

"And how did it come to you telling her the story of us being together?"

Jane shrugged. "I didn't tell her the whole story. I was mainly telling her about how we dated and what prompted us to end up renewing our vows. I'd just gotten up to the proposal when you came in."

"Well, some of the best of the story is still to come then isn't it?"

Jane smiled knowingly at her wife. "Oh it definitely is."

"Perhaps a shortened version for now though. She does seem to be drifting off finally."

Jane looked down at her daughter once more. At the moment her bright hazel green eyes were still wide, but she wasn't as restless as she had been just a few minutes before. Jane shifted and handed the small bundle over to her wife.

Maura shifted so she had a comfortable position holding their daughter while also being able to lean against Jane as they rocked in the glider gently.

Jane lifted her arm and wrapped it around Maura to pull her wife a little further into her. She loved being able to have both of her girls wrapped up in her arms. Her voice was barely above a whisper as she continued on with how they got to the moment where they were right now. "Well first, Mommy indeed became the director of the center. And she's been the best director ever since." Jane sent a wink over to her wife. "Even if she has been working part time for the Medical Examiner's office."

"Not long after that I moved back into the house with your Ma," Maura added. "It was several months before we brought up the proposal again. Since we were still married we decided to just have a vow renewal. This time though we wanted your Nona, uncles, grandma, and grandpa there: which took some time to plan."

"I do believe I opted for eloping again and a two week honeymoon," Jane pointed out.

Maura rolled her eyes. She had perfected the roll after the years spent with Jane. "You didn't seem to mind the fact that we still took the two week honeymoon, as I recall."

"Mmm," Jane mused to herself. "Best honeymoon ever." She leaned down and kissed a spot just under Maura's ear. One of the spots she knew Maura loved to get attention.

"And I don't think she needs to know about the honeymoon, Jane."

Jane whispered huskily in Maura's ear, "Well I thought it was relevant seeing as how much practice we got for making her on that honeymoon."

"Jane!" Maura admonished as she pulled away from her wife slightly. "You keep acting like that and I'm going to jostle her enough that she ends up wide awake again. That will surely mean there won't be any practice for a while," she said with a sly grin.

Jane huffed slightly, but Maura knew it was all in jest. They both enjoyed the time they got to spend with their daughter and not much could get them to give up those precious moments. "Let's see. What happened after the honeymoon?"

"I think she's asleep, Jane." Jane looked down at their daughter and sure enough her eyes were closed and her breaths had evened out to a steady rhythm.

"Aww, do we have to put her back yet?" Jane whined.

"I think we should put her back in her crib, but that doesn't mean that we can't stick around in here a little bit longer."

"I think I can live with that," Jane said as she started to shift out of the glider so Maura could as well. She looked on as she watched Maura gently lean over the crib and placed their daughter inside.

Maura stood looking over the crib for a few moments at their sleeping daughter before she turned to Jane. Jane quickly wrapped her arms around Maura's waist as Maura's came up to wrap around her neck. "You forgot about the wedding Mrs. Rizzoli-Isles. We should remember to tell her that the second time around we didn't go much bigger than the first time. How the day was made special by the fact that we renewed our vows in the center in front of the mural her grandmother painted."

"We'll tell her one day. We'll have to tell her about Will though too. It's going to be a while before she understands it all. I don't want to confuse her or make her feel like she's living in his shadow or something."

"I wouldn't want her to feel that way either, Jane." She's not here to be made to live in his shadow or to be some replacement. She is a product of our love for each other and that's how she should always feel. We wanted her and we want her to be her own person and we'll be there to encourage her every step of the way."

They stood there in the silence for a few moments just resting their bodies against each other; they'd have been dancing if there had been any swaying of their bodies. They'd had that conversation before and it was one they'd probably have again. As a parent you couldn't seem to help it. You constantly questioned if you were doing the right thing or not. They'd agreed to try and take it one day at a time for now and that they'd worry about more if it as the time came. They still knew they'd be worrying over a lot of things soon enough. "Do you think we were crazy to wait almost a year after to start trying for a baby?"

Maura shook her head. "We had things that we needed to do first before trying. I managed to get the center firmly on its feet and you had the time you needed to study for the Lieutenant's exam. I know that waiting didn't play in our favor in some areas once we started trying to conceive, but it worked out."

They made their way over to the glider once more so they could look on at their precious bundle asleep in her crib. "Would you have rather not taken the exam and ended up a Lieutenant?" Maura had encouraged Jane to make the decision on her own about taking a desk position like Lieutenant. Jane was built for the field. She needed to be out there in the midst of the action going on; it was where she naturally thrived. In the end though, Jane had thought that the desk position would be better in the long run for their family.

Jane shook her head and affirmed it with a quiet, "No. It's where I need to be. Yes, working on paperwork really sucks some days, but in the end it gives me more time to spend with you, and to be at the center, and now to be here at home with you and Sadie."

Jane sat quietly for a moment thinking about a time when she didn't know how to be with family and how she didn't know how to let people in. She'd come a long way from that person and she wasn't going to go back there. "I think that's what I messed up on most last time. I didn't know how to be there for the people who were most important in my life. I get that now and it has a whole new meaning. There is definitely more to life than catching the bad guy."

Maura wrapped her arms tighter around Jane as they sat in the glider. "We both have a lot of things in our past. I'm just glad that through it all we found our way back to each other. You're the most amazing woman I know Jane."

"Same goes for you Maur. I'm the luckiest woman in the world. Plus, I get to kiss you anytime I want."

Maura cocked her head slightly to the side and looked at her wife. She broke out into a big smile before replying, "That you do Lieutenant."

The End

So? I know, I know. I told y'all that I would tell you all when we would be reaching the end, but after the last chapter that ending came to me and I just had to follow it. For those of you who may be wondering, the start of this chapter picks up about 3 years after the point of the proposal. I tried to explain as much as I could within the chapter, but I'd be happy to answer any other questions y'all might have in PMs Thank you all so much for following me on the amazing journey of this story. I never imagined what it could become and I have you to thank for that because this story would be nothing without you. I never dreamed that I would have a story that had 500 reviews on it and here we are past that already. I'm looking forward to getting some one shots out for y'all soon or some shorter stories and I'd love it if y'all wanted to stick with me and read those two when I can get them out. As always, I'd love to hear what you have to say about this chapter, or the story in general. So, let me know what you think!
