STELLA'S POV
I woke up to my cell door banging open.
"Get up," said the guard, pulling me up roughly.
"Hey! What's your problem? I can stand on my own!" I yelled.
"Just be quiet," said the guard, pulling me out of my room and into the hall.
"No! Where are you taking me? What are you going to do to me?"
"We're putting you under truth serum and asking you abut your little plan," he said.
I relaxed a little. I knew for a act that Erudite hadn't developed a truth serum which worked on Divergents.
But what would I say? What would they ask me? What if I wasn't strong enough to resist the serum?
Thousands of questions buzzed in my head.
We got to a room where a single chair sat. Jeanine stood in the room her eyes staring coldly at me.
"You know Stella," she said, "You had so much potential, but you decided not to use it."
I laughed bitterly. "Use this 'potential' for what? Massacring a bunch of innocent people? Doing experiments on sixteen-year-olds?"
"You are very closed minded. That is all for the greater good," said Jeanine in a calm way that made a fire light in my chest. "Now lets get started, shall we?"
The guard gestured to the chair and I sat down, although that was the last thing I wanted to do.
Jeanine approached me with a needle and then without warning, she jabbed me in the neck. "The serum will go into effect in one minute."
"Wonderful," I muttered.
I felt a weight go over my mind after a little while. It was weird. It was like my thoughts were slowed down.
"Now, I'll start with an trial question. What is your name?" asked Jeanine.
"Stella Clearwater," I said, in an almost expressionless voice.
"Now, is it true that you helped Beatrice Prior and Tobias Eaton escape Erudite?"
"Yes."
"Was Peter Hayes also aware of this plan?"
No point in trying to lie here, they already knew. "Yes."
"Was anyone else aware of this?"
Now I needed to lie. I felt like my mind was swimming through liquid lead. I was getting a headache from trying to resist. "No," I choked out.
Jeanine looked at me closely. "Okay you are free to go. But I have one more thing to tell you."
"Yes, tell me," I said.
"Well, you are a traitor to Erudite, so we will execute you. I have it planned in four days time."
My heart stopped. Execute me?
"You can't do that! You forced me to come here, and now you call me traitor? I was never on your side in the first place!" I then proceeded to yell a string of profanities at her.
I swore that she was smiling a little.
