Grace made her way to the mess hall, and had no difficulty in finding Ember, having her meal. Aside her was Sparx. Grace didn't know him however, and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow when first sighted him eating his little meal aside Ember.
Ember sighed her while she walked to get a platter and some food, and pointed to her to sit in front her.
Grace just nodded her head, and continued to her get food.
Meanwhile that, Cynder and Spyro were about to take their showers, and then have their breakfast.
Out of the temple, in the healers' place, both Flame and Night had been patched up by the mole healer last night. Night had lost some teeth when kicked in the face by the ape, but the mole told her that she was young, and that would grow again. This morning, both were almost fully recovered, and were already wake up, but were silent since they entered the infirmary. It was when the healer appeared in the door of their room, telling them that they were free to go, and have breakfast in the temple.
Back at the mess hall, Grace took her food, and her seat in front of Ember.
Soon Grace sat, Ember asked smiling:
"Soo... You seem happy, how was it?"
"Good." Grace laughed lightly, and happily answered.
"Tell me about it!" Ember happily insisted.
"I woke him up, and he asked me to enter."
"And?" Ember curiously asked.
"We talked a bit, and then he asked me to pass the day with him."
"Oh, that's that quite good!" Ember replied. "Not what I expected but it's good after all."
"What did you expect?" Grace questioned.
Ember just laughed briefly
"So, where are you going?" Ember continued, while Grace was gnawing a bone.
"I don't know." She shook her head.
"Do you have any place in mind?" Ember continued to ask.
"Well, I could enjoy visiting some places, but being with him will do it already."
"That's cute." Ember chuckled, and then did Grace.
"Are you anxious?" Ember continued.
"Quite." Grace nodded and smiled.
"That's your chance to make a good start, if you want to stay together further on."
Grace just smiled to herself.
"Do you want that, don't you?" Ember questioned. "Or you don't want to get serious and just have fun?"
"Of course I want to be with him, Ember! Since he saved me from that ape, I know I feel something for him that I can't explain. I enjoy being with him, and when he's not around, I miss him."
Ember said nothing, just happily stared at her while she talked.
Grace then continued.
"Do you remember that day you entered in the infirmary, and caught us?"
Ember just nodded her head.
"I had a dream, and woke up crying. He heard, and asked if I needed something. I was feeling alone, and I wanted to be close to him, so I went to his bed and asked to sleep with him." She said, and Ember widened her eyes. "He dropped a wing over me and kept me warm for the whole night. It was the most comfortable night I had here so far."
"Grace, I'm so happy for you two!" Ember happily said. "I just wanted that I didn't have spoiled your kiss that morning."
"Me too." She said and they laughed.
"Probably will have another chance today, though." Ember smiled. "Is it your first?"
Grace nodded her head.
"Good luck, then." Ember replied, and got back to her meal.
"Thanks." Grace smiled and did the same.
While eating however, Grace looked to her left side, and sighted a familiar shape.
"Hey Ember..." She called. "It isn't that dragoness we met in the forest right there?"
Ember looked for it, and saw that really was Liz there, having breakfast alongside her bother.
"Looks like her to me." Ember replied. "Why don't you go and call her to sit with us?"
"Why me?" Grace laughed.
"Because you saw her." Ember replied with a giggle.
"Fine." Grace replied and got up.
While Grace went to bring Liz to their table, Amphars showed up at the entrance.
Ember was facing the entrance, and saw him coming in.
Soon Grace got back to the table, with Liz and her brother, Ember called her attention.
"Look who's here." She smiled.
Grace looked behind, and saw him going to get his meal with the moles.
"Be quiet about anything, Ember." Grace replied.
"Don't worry." She giggled, and turned to Liz, and her brother. "Good morning you two, how are you doing?"
"We're doing fine, we just have to get used to live here, you know. Everything and everyone are new to us." Liz replied.
"I do know. I just have some days here too. Is here better than where you lived?" Ember asked.
"Much, much better." She replied. "We lived in a humid cold cave, in the middle of a forest. We just ate raw venison and sheep, and fruits sometimes. That place was a hole."
"I told you to search for a nicer place." Her brother piped in.
"Shh..." She put a paw over his mouth, and looked back to Ember, who giggled.
Flake got angry by that, and bit her paw, not too hard, though.
Liz cried, but he released quickly and she pulled her paw back.
"What are you thinking in, Flake! Are you mad?! Go bite your own tail already!"
He just laughed.
"Little pest." She mumbled.
"Are you fine?" Ember asked.
"Yes, lucky for him." Liz replied.
Ember giggled, and continued.
"As I was going to say, you made the right choice coming here then. Living by yourself can be quite rough even for a dragon. I'm used to living underground too. Actually, I think we all are."
Liz just nodded agreeing.
Meanwhile, Amphars took his food, and then took his place in Ember, Liz and Grace's table, aside Grace.
"Good morning." He greeted, and the girls greeted back.
"How are you doing?" He continued, while gazing to Ember and started to eat his meal.
"Pretty good." She replied. "What about you?"
"Doing great." He replied, and gave a glance at Grace, who just giggled.
While he ate, felt something lightly touch his tail, and gazed backwards to it, just to see Grace's tail touching his. They were side by side, but not too close, so he noticed that she did on purpose, and replied by curling his tail around her.
Grace let loose a happy sigh, and he giggled. Ember just smiled to herself while ate.
"There they are!" Sparx suddenly said, catching everyone's attention, and happily zapping from aside Ember.
Soon, they noticed Spyro and Cynder coming into the mess hall.
"Sparx! Where were you?" Spyro asked while the dragonfly flew towards him and Cynder. "I don't see you for days!"
"I could ask you that!" He replied, right after stopping right before the dragons.
Everyone just got back to their meals.
"We had to solve something Sparx, but it's all over and done now." Spyro replied.
"Yeah." He laughed. "I could guess that you two have a lot of things to solve."
Cynder just sighed, and Spyro raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean, Sparx?" He naïvely asked.
"Ohh...my brother..." Sparx giggled.
"We weren't in vacation, Sparx. We were dealing with real problems. We, and the others dragons together. Our life isn't easy as yours." Cynder said.
"Okay, okay... I just wanted to know if you two are doing alright."
"Of course we are, Sparx!" Spyro smiled.
"Good..."Sparx replied, and then flew to Spyro's ear, on the opposite side to Cynder.
"I want to know about it later." He whispered.
This time was Cynder who raised an eyebrow.
Sparx then flew back to his table and meal.
"What did he say?" Cynder asked.
"Nothing important." Spyro chuckled.
"As usual, I guess." She replied, and both laughed.
When they sat on the table with their meal, Ember had already finished, and Grace was almost there. Amphars had just started. They greeted everyone, and everyone did back.
Ember was just thinking in going to the infirmary, when she sighted Flame and Night coming in the mess hall. They took their platters, and sat with the others. Flame at Amphars' side, and Night at Flame's side.
"How are you doing, mate?" Amphars asked him, looking concerned, once Flame sat down.
"Ah, I'm better, you know." He replied.
"Yeah. What about those wounds?" Amphars continued, and gazed his body looking for any scars or open wounds.
"The healer closed them all, yesterday."
"I see.. Do you feel anything?" Amphars continued.
"Nope. I feel good as ever." Flame replied.
"You caused quite a worry, it's good to have you back." Amphars said, and got back to his meal.
"Yeah." Flame chuckled, and began to eat.
Night lost no time to start eating, but soon she noticed that those teeth she lost were being missed, and that she was so used to crude or charred meat that she had already forgot the taste of a well prepared meal. All that combined to some melancholy, caused by the recent events, made she lose part of her hunger. Liz and her brother also weren't used to prepared meal, but they were doing just fine, and they still had all their teeth.
Those who finished their meals started talking to each other. Night was the quieter, and would talk only when asked to. She passed most time thinking, and preferred to do that than talking.
After some time of talking, Cyril appeared in the mess hall, and approached the dragons table, cutting their talk.
"Good morning, youngsters." He greeted, before starting. "Spyro, Cynder, could you two come to our chamber, alongside the black dragoness right now?"
"Of course Cyril." Spyro surely replied. "But what for?"
"It's nothing to worry about, we just wanted to know more about the ape that you killed, just it."
"Fine then." Spyro got up, just before Cynder did.
Cyril then turned his gaze to Night, who was also getting up.
"Follow me, then." Cyril called, and led then to the chamber.
The others were left to guess what was that about.
"Do you think the guardians found something?" Ember worriedly asked.
"Could be. Or maybe they just want to have sure that the ape is gone." Amphars replied.
"He is gone, but maybe there is someone or something else." Flame said.
"Yes, and I guess that we will discover soon." Amphars finished.
"So, what now?" Ember asked again.
"He said that was nothing to worry about, so we still have the day off, I guess." Amphars replied.
"Good." Ember said.
"Grace, where do you want to go?" He turned his gaze to her and asked.
"I have no place in mind, Amphy. Somewhere peacefully will do it already."
"I do know where to go then. Shall we go then?" He smiled.
"Yes." Grace smiled back, and they started to get up.
"We may be back for lunch." Amphars said, and the others just nodded. "Until then!"
With that, Amphars and Grace left the hall.
"Looks like I have been away for a good time. Even our "Amphy" is hanging out with a girl." Flame said. Ember and Liz just laughed.
"Well, I guess I'm going back to my room, later girls." Flame got up.
Ember said nothing, and soon he was leaving the hall, she got up too and followed him, leaving Liz and her brother alone.
Sorry about the almost three weeks delay people.
This chapter grew too long so I cut it in a half, expect part two soon. I hope it also didn't grow boring.
Thanks a lot for reading!
