'Oh, my god! Sam!' A blonde lady said in surprise as she hugged Sam.
'Well if it isn't little Becky?' Sam said teasingly
'You know you could do that little Becky crap' she said still laughing.
'I got your e-mail' Sam explained
'I didn't think you would come here' Beck said
'Dean, older brother' Dean said pushing forward to shake hands with her, I flick him in the ear earning moan of pain from Dean as I stepped up next to Sam.
'Kaylee, friend of the brothers, we're here to help. Whatever we can do' I explained shaking hands with her as well.
'Come in' she said leading us into the house as Dean closed the door behind us.
'Nice place' Dean and I said at the same time.
'It's my parents. I was just crashing here for the long weekend when everything happened. I decided to take this semester off. I'm going to stay until Zach's free' Beck explained
'Where are your folks?' Sam asked
'They live in Paris for half the year so they're on their way home now for the trial. Do you guys want a beer or something?' She asked as we reached the kitchen.
'No, thanks' I said quickly before Dean could grab one.
'So, tell us what happened' Sam said leaning against the table as I leant against the wall.
'Well...Zach came home and he found Emily tied to a chair. And she was beaten up and bloody and she wasn't breathing and so he called 911 and the police they showed up and... And they arrested him. But the thing is the only way that Zach could have killed Emily if he was in two places at the same time. The police they have a video. It's from the security tape from across the street. And it shows Zach coming home at 10:30. Now, Emily was killed just after that but I swear he was here with me having a few beers until at least after midnight' Beck explained as Dean and I shared a look.
'You know, maybe we could see the crime scene. Zach's house...' Sam offered
'We could' Dean stated confused
'Why? I mean what could you do?' Beck asked
'Me? Not much but Dean's a cop and Kaylee's a detective' Sam explained quickly as Dean and I sighed.
'Really? Where?' Beck asked
'Bisbee Arizona. But we are off duty now' Dean explained with a shrug.
'You guys are so nice to offer but I don't know...' Beck said unsure
'Beck, I know Zach didn't do this. Now, we have to find a way to prove that he's innocent' Sam said determined
'Okay. I'm going to go get the keys' Beck said leaving the room.
'Oh, yeah man. You're a real straight shooter with your friends' Dean said sarcastically
'Look...Zach and Becky need our help.' Sam said firmly
'I just don't think this is our kind of problem.' Dean pressed on
'Two places at once? We've looked into less.' I offered earning a grateful look from Sam and Dean looked at us and had to agree.
...
We arrived at the crime scene in Dean's car and got out.
'You sure this is okay?' Becky asked
'Yeah, I am an officer of the law' Dean said as I rolled my eyes as we walked towards the house.
'Beck, you want to wait outside?' Sam asked as she looked at the bloody crime scene anxiously.
'No, I want to help' Becky said bending under the crime scene tape.
'Tell us what else the police said' Sam said as Dean and I looked around the house.
'Well, there's no sign of a break-in. They say that Emily let her attacker in. The lawyer, they're already talking about a plea-bargain' Becky said on the verge of tears.
'Oh, god' Becky said looking at the blood.
'Look, Beck, if Zach didn't do this it means someone else did. Any idea who?' Sam asked carefully
'There was something. About a week before, somebody broke in here. They stole some clothes. Zach's clothes. They police, they don't think it's anything. I mean, we're not that far from downtown. Sometimes people get robbed' Becky said as Dean looked out the window to see a dog barking. Beck walked over to him as Sam walked over to me.
'See anything?' Sam asked softly.
'A lot of blood' I replied sarcastically
'You know, that used to be the sweetest dog' Becky said to Dean as I looked past them to see the dog barking.
'What happened?' Dean asked
'He just changed' Becky said as I walked over to them.
'Do you remember when?' I asked, my eyes locking onto the dogs and saw fear.
'I guess around the time of the murder' Beck said shrugging and Dean looked at me before we walked into the kitchen to find Sam.
'So the neighbour's dog went psycho right around the time Zach's girlfriend was killed' Dean said
'Animals can sense the paranormal' Sam said
'Yeah, maybe Fido saw something' Dean replied
'That dog is terrified, guys' I said softly
'Doesn't sound scared to me' Dean joked
'It would be like a normal human seeing something traumatic and then for days, weeks, even months afterwards, they jump at every little thing' I explained
'So you think maybe this is our kind of problem?' Sam asked
'No, probably not. But we should look at the security tape just to make sure' Dean replied not wanting to admit he was wrong.
'Yeah' Sam agreed sarcastically as I rolled my eyes.
'So the tape, the security footage? Think maybe your lawyers could get it? I don't think that we have that kind of jurisdiction' Dean said
'I've already got it. I didn't want to say something in front of cops but I stole it off the lawyer's desk. I just had to see it for myself' Becky admitted as I grinned.
'All right' Dean said to us as we left the crime scene and went back to Becks house.
