Looking into Sandy's eyes. I felt like I could see the future. We'd have a family starting with the kid growing inside of me. There would be so much of just about everything. I couldn't wait to wake up every time to see Sandy there.
"I do." I said without even thinking what I was agreeing to. I knew that I was agreeing spending the rest of my life with Sandy. There would be long nights going around the world making sure that all the children had peaceful dreams. I could see it now. I could see everything now. Sandy squeezed my hands and we turned to walk down the aisle back towards the door that Fabian had walked me through not that long ago.
Well if there is one thing I learned today is that fairies and Guardians sure do know how to party. There were beings everywhere. I do mean everywhere. It was lucky that Sandy and I were the couple of the hour. Fairies would part the way for us. It was almost like being royalty.
Flutter led us to where our reception would be in the palace in a ballroom that I swear was bigger than anything I'd ever seen. "It was the only place big enough to hold all of…well everyone." She'd said with a laugh.
I'd been enjoying the party and waited for a time when no one was paying any attention. I made my escape. No one seemed to notice that the bride had disappeared. I made my way through the palace no one was in the hallways most if not everyone was still inside the party.
I came to the room I was looking for. I took a deep breath and opened the doors. Revealing the throne room. The room I almost died in. It seemed like Flutter hadn't had it repaired yet. There was still the dent almost hole in the floor where the Queen's mace got stuck. Blood was dried on the floor and on the columns.
There was one column that I couldn't help but move towards. It was the one that I almost died against. I touched it gently remembering. I could see the battling happening in front of me again. I could see the rage in the Queen's face. I could see the fear and hope in all the other's fairies faces as I fought. I could see it all. It was almost like I was still in the moment and I would never leave it. I would forever remember the battle that almost took my life. I hoped that I would never have to fight like that again.
"We're thinking about making it a historic monument to you." Flutter's voice scared me and made me jump. I basically got into an attack position. She held up her hands. "If you want. I'm going to choose a different room for a throne room."
"You should clean up the blood." I said.
"We'll do that." Flutter replied. "Why are you not at the party? You are married you should be enjoying it. I'm sure Sandy's looking for you. If not I'm sure Fabian is. You've been basically killing Fabian with all disappearing and dying. He's going to go gray."
I laughed lightly. "I had to see it." I said seriously. "I had to. This is the palace that almost killed me and…" My hand went to my stomach. "I couldn't just ignore it. This place was screaming my name." I said. I looked around again. "You and Fabian were up there. I don't think I'd ever seen Fabian make a face like the one he wore that day." I told her. I had to tell her. "I felt the fear coming off the fairies when we came in. I felt the acceptance when I heard that I'd won. I was finally accepted as a fairy, but I was almost dead." Tears started to form but I refused to let them fall. "I felt so much emotion that day…I had to come back."
"Lex…" She moved towards me arms open like she could hug me and it'd make me better.
"Flutter…" I stayed out of her reach. "I may have been human, and this could be the human side of me talking, but…" I took a second to collect my thoughts. "I don't want this to happen again. Not in a hundred years, not in a million, not in forever. I don't want someone to possibly lose his or her life because of one crazy person."
"I understand."
"I don't think you do." I looked back at the former battle area behind me. "I don't think you ever will."
"LEX! LEX!" A voice shouted through the halls. I knew it was Fabian. It certainly wouldn't be Sandy.
"I have to go." I walked past her and out the door. I took a second and looked back at her. "I might just be going crazy." I said to her and rushed off towards the voice that was calling my name.
"Lex!" Fabian shouted at me and Sandy was right at his side. "Where were you?!"
"I…" Lie Lex you need a good lie that's believable. "Flutter was showing me possible rooms for her throne room."
"Oh." Fabian said. "Next time tell someone would you?"
"Sorry. I will, promise." I said with a smile. "I think you owe me a dance or two." I said to my husband. It was so weird to think that Sandy was actually my husband. Sandy offered his hand to me. "Of course I would love to dance." He whisked me away. I laughed happily forgetting all about the things that I'd thought about in the former throne room. This was a time for me to enjoy with Sandy.
A/N: A strange chapter to write. That's for sure, but I had to do it. Lex was telling me that not everything is fun and games. She needed her closure for her battle and I think this was almost a perfect time for her to close that chapter and open the next one in her life.
