Part 26:

After Sophia had left so abrupt and harshly Derek found himself getting angrier by the second and he just wanted this all to be over with. He couldn't believe how he had handled the situation and knew he shouldn't have just pushed away like that. But he had her best interests at heart, he knew that he couldn't die knowing that Sophia was going to left miserable without him so he made sure that her getting him over with him, continuing with her life, graduating, maybe going to college, having a career and creating a family with her soul mate was going to be easier than a life with him or his living memory.

He and his Uncle Peter piled into his silver FJ cruiser with all the artillery they needed to try take down the Berserkers and Kate in Mexico to save Scott and Kira. They made their way to a similar looking warehouse to the one they had been at days before fighting off the assassin attacks to meet the others to begin their trip down to the south of America.

Once they had arrived at the abandoned warehouse around twenty minutes later, some of the others were already there including Stiles, Liam, Malia and Breaden who had just also turned up in a prison transport van. The others were already talking when Derek and Peter climbed out of the cruiser and wondered over to join them.

"We really bringing him?" Derek asked grumpily still furious from his argument with Sophia as he motioned to Liam who was nowhere near ready to fight a group of Berserkers since he was only a young beta.

Liam shook his head offended and Stiles stepped in for the younger wolf pointing his hand over to Derek's uncle "We really bringing him" he repeated Derek's words.

This time Peter stepped in to defend himself not wanting to have to deal with a silly petty fight between the teenagers and the ex-sour wolf who was still looking so sour "We're bringing everyone that we can" he paused looking between everyone "And considering Scott and Kira were taken the night before a full moon, we should probably get going"

Liam glanced over at Stiles and Malia worriedly knowing he still hadn't learnt control of the full moon yet "What does that mean?" Malia questioned her father.

"If Kate took Scott back to the same temple where she took Derek how do we know she's not planning to do the same thing to him?" Peter answered nodding his head over to Derek and back towards the group.

"She wants to make him younger?" Liam suggested.

"Or take him back to when he wasn't a werewolf" Derek added making the others worry frantically.

"A werewolf can't steal a true alpha's power but maybe nagual jaguar with the power of Tezcatlipoca behind her… maybe she can" Peter told the group causing Stiles who looked distressed to scratch his chin anxiously "So if everyone is sufficiently freaked out, I say we get going"

"We can't" Stiles said causing Peter to frown "Not without Lydia"

Meanwhile, back at the Turner household Daniella was sorting out the weaponry for the trip to Mexico, she was checking over everything, making sure that everything was in working order and loaded with enough ammo to fight whatever the hell they were going to come across. She hadn't got much out Sophia on the ride back to the house apart from that they were going to be following the others down to Mexico where they would hopefully find Scott and Kira as well as protect Derek in the process without getting killed by some were jaguar and some supernatural creatures called Berserkers. Thankfully Daniella had placed a tracker on the bottom of Derek's car so they could follow the ex-alpha with ease.

Inside the house, Sophia had just finished showering and changing into a new change of clothes she was going to be wearing down to Mexico. She had been trying her best to block out all negative thoughts and doubts in her head about the crazy plan and going behind Derek's back. She wanted to prove to him and everybody else that she could do this, that she could defend and protect not just herself but everyone around her, that she wasn't weak or that she couldn't cope because Sophia knew if she put her mind to something she could do it.

She stared back at her own reflection in her full length bedroom mirror, her body clothed in a vintage inspired light blue denim jacket, with dark black skinny high waisted jeans and a crop black high neck top. Upon her feet was her favourite black platform Chelsea boots, her hair was styled up in messy top knot with a few strands cascading down the side of her face and some hoop earrings hung in her ears finishing off the look. She flattened down her jacket and took a deep breath out already preparing herself for what was to come.

Checking her image once again, she turned on her feet and checked the time over on the digital alarm clock on her bed side unit. It was time for her to go join her sister outside and begin their journey. The fear she was feeling within her she tried to change into motivation and passion to protect Derek because she couldn't quite face the fact his fate could be over with by the end of the day. However horrible he had been to her and however harsh she had been back to him, she still cared about him and wanted to be with him.

As Sophia exited the house making sure she locked the door behind herself, Daniella had shut the trunk of her car and was making her way round to the driver's side. The two girls entered the car in silence, neither of them wanting to speak in case they got distracted and Sophia would lose focus on what she had originally planned to do knowing she would let her sister down after she had gone out of her way to try and train her despite her hatred towards Derek.

So instead the older sister turned on the engine of the car as they sisters bulked up their seat belts before Daniella reversed off of the drive heading to the destination where the others were situated and once they were there they would wait and follow with fear in their veins.

Back at the warehouse, Stiles began walking around the area they were situated in on his phone trying to get in contact with Lydia who had yet to arrive and join the rest of the group; he knew that they couldn't go without her since she played a huge role in the group, whilst Peter paced up and down becoming impatient.

"What's she doing at the school anyway?" Derek questioned the teenagers crossing his arms across his chest.

"We got Kira's sword but we need something with a stronger scent, Lydia went to get a jacket out of her locker" Malia replied back to him holding up the sword causing Derek's eyes to roll down to the floor thinking about Sophia once again due to the reminder of the school and how many times he had visited just to see her. He hated himself for what he had done to her when she had been nothing but good to him.

"Nothing" Stiles said coming back over to them breaking Derek away from his thoughts and back to what they were here the whole reason he pushed Sophia away like he did.

"If she has a car she can catch up to us" Breaden proposed as Stiles hung up his phone as the line went to voicemail.

"That's a good point" Peter said pointing over to Breaden both of them just wanting to get onto the road already "We'll call her from the road"

"No what if something happened, what if she's in trouble?" Stiles asked his voice thick with concern about the Banshee who knew if she wasn't answering then something was clearly wrong.

"Fine you stay, you find her and we're going to go on without you" Peter spat back bitterly making his way over to Derek's cruiser.

Stiles gave Peter a glare as Liam spoke up "I can call Mason he has a study group at school maybe he can look for her"

Derek raised his eyebrows up at this towards Stiles thinking it was a good enough idea and Stiles who was breathing heavily with panic, finally shook his head giving in to leaving without Lydia "Alright, fine"

The group went their separate ways towards their vehicles, Derek, Liam and Breaden heading to the prison transport van whilst Peter was waiting outside of Derek's car for Malia who was in deep conversation with Stiles over the fact that Stiles was riding in the van due to his experience with out of control beta's on a full moon and that left Malia alone in the car with her father who Stile's didn't trust not one bit.

Once the pair had broken apart, Peter came forward again altering them all as he began to put on his jacket "Remember what we're dealing with here, it's not just Kate, it's berserkers, you might see human eyes behind those skulls but don't assume there's any humanity left" Peter told them making Liam's face drain with colour and a worried expression formed on his face which didn't go unnoticed by Peter "Uh this little one is terrified of them aren't you?" Stiles glanced over at Liam who kept quiet "Don't worry my friend, it's that fear that will keep you alive" Liam gulped at his words "A reminder to everyone, you do not fight berserkers to survive, you fight to kill"

The car drove down the dirty dirt track, the ride was bumpy and uneasy, the car was silent, and the only sound was from the engine and the rubble beneath the tires. Sophia was resting her elbow against the window of the car; her head was being kept up right by the palm of her hand as she stared out at the sights surrounding them on their journey to Mexico, her mind going into overload about Derek and his where abouts, if he was safe and still alive.

This was considering that the two sisters were fifteen minutes away from the rest of the pack as they wanted to stay well hidden until they were far away enough for Derek not to send Sophia back in aid of protecting her and find out what she was really up to. So instead, the girls set off after the others, making sure that they stayed far enough back to not be caught but keeping an eye on where Derek and the others were by the tracker they had linked up to the satnav in Daniella's car.

Daniella would occasionally glance over at Sophia to check on her and make sure she was alright although she knew that she must have been terrified of what was about to happen seeing as Daniella was also fearful of fighting of supernatural creatures with little to none experience and putting all her training, knowledge and skills to use. She knew that Sophia wanted to do this for Derek and his friends but on the other hand Daniella knew that Sophia was still so young, she didn't deserve to be dragged into a world like this and have to do participate in things where she would risk losing her life. But yet Daniella blamed herself for even allowing her sister to get involved because of her relationship with Caleb, who was a werewolf, then leaving so randomly without a trace for Sophia to survive alone which is when she confided in Derek and the pair grew closer exposing Sophia more to the world of the supernatural. The whole reason Daniella had suggested this horrid plan was so Daniella didn't have to watch her little sister lose her guy the same way she lost hers, by doing nothing and letting it just happen.

The silence was suddenly broken by the sound of the marimba ringtone coming from Sophia's Iphone on the dashboard in front of her. The younger girl lifted her head up from the car window and reached over to grab the device which was ringing. Daniella's eyes flicked from the road to her sister as Sophia held her phone in her hands, her eyes widening a little when she saw who was calling her and her heart began to thud rapidly.

Confusion and shock flashed through Sophia as the phone continued to ring, her finger hesitating upon the answer button but her mind was telling her not to give in to Derek who was calling her. She felt confused as to why he was trying to get in contact with her when he acted the way he had towards her. She wasn't going to let him just mess her around. But a part of her was concerned something had happened to him already.

Before Sophia even had the chance to make up her mind the call rang off and a missed call message came across her screen causing the girl to furrow her eyebrows in annoyance at her stubbornness. "Are you going to tell me what happened you two?" Daniella asked the worried and uncertain actions from Sophia hadn't gone unmissed from her older sister.

Sophia sighed loudly laying her phone back against the dashboard and she turned to face her sister "It doesn't matter, I just didn't agree with him risking his life when it could be over with so quickly" she told her missing out the part Derek had told her it was over and had pushed her out of his life, if Daniella knew that information she would be more than pleased Sophia wasn't involved with a twenty something year old but also she would turn the car around and get out of there so fast.

Daniella gave Sophia a look knowing she wasn't being completely truthful but kept quiet as she continued to drive keeping an eye on the satnav whilst Sophia sat back in the chair going back to her thoughts just hoping that things would turn out good for once.

Further along on their journey, Peter and Malia was a head of the others who were assembled in the police transport van where Breaden was driving with Stiles, Derek and Liam in the back. Mason had informed the group that Lydia's car was parked in the school parking lot and offered to look around the school for her. However the pack had not heard back from him yet either and were becoming increasingly worried for their friend's safety.

Breaden turned her head swiftly round to look at the back of the van where Derek had just then finished handcuffing Liam to the metal bench to prepare him for the full moon, which for Liam was still a struggle and having his alpha around wasn't going to benefit him in the slightest. Once Liam was handcuffed in, Breaden turned back to the road ahead of her leaving the boys to it.

"All good?" Derek asked Liam who used his strength to pull on the handcuffs which didn't break thankfully before looking back at up Derek in confirmation who was then pulling something out of his jacket pocket "Ok I brought something to help you" he held the metal triskelion in his hands the same triskelion Kate tried to steal from him and he had shown Chris Argent at the Hale vault "This has been with my family for centuries, it's a very powerful supernatural talisman to teach Beta's how to control themselves on a full moon"

Stiles eyed Derek curiously knowing that the story Derek was telling Liam was a bunch of lies and if it was so powerful then why hadn't it have worked for all the other teenagers that had turned into wolves over the past couple of years. However even Stiles knew how gullible Liam was and trusted Derek to try his best with the beta, so he left him to it as Derek handed the object over to the beta.

Derek glanced back at Stiles who were giving him a confused look and Derek raised his eyebrows up nodding his head over to Liam with a serious look, who was examining the triskelion. "Yes its powerful" Stiles muttered before clearing his throat going along with this for both of their sakes "It's very powerful"

Liam looked between the pair of them suggestively unsure of whether to believe them or not but he kept quiet knowing that they were just trying to help him. Stiles sighed in relief and leant back against the van hoping that Malia was getting on alright with her psychotic father and that Lydia and Mason were fine. Whereas Derek on the other hand, was sitting with his phone in between his lap constantly checking it just waiting for some form of contact from Sophia.

After he had tried to ring her after finally giving in and wanting to apologise for the way he acted in case it was the last time he spoke to her, she hadn't even bothered to answer or get back to him by text or call. He wondered if she was already having fun without him, whether she was hanging with her friends continuing her teenage life, gossiping and boy hunting to get them through their years of high school.

However he had no idea that Sophia and her sister, Daniella was only a couple of miles behind following him to try and protect him for whatever was about to happen in Mexico, where no one knew if he would survive.

That was until the night began to fall over the deserted track they were following around an hour and a half later, the moon was already present in the sky and the betas were feeling the effects of the supernatural upon them. Malia was focusing hard to keep in control which was working so far since she had been practicing learning control with Stiles. However, Liam was so inexperienced with this and when the full moon began to shine down onto the transport van he was already feeling the side effects and they were getting to him.

Suddenly Derek was broke away from his phone and Stiles jumped out of his skin as Liam began to pant and groan loudly. The two guys instantly turned their attention to him their eyes training down to the beta's claws that had grown and were clutching tightly to the triskelion Derek had given him.

"Whatever you were going to teach me…." Liam began he brought his head up to the two his eyes now flashing their yellow colour "I think you better start"

Breaden looked worriedly through the rear-view mirror and then behind her seat at them as Liam's forehead began to drip with sweat, every second they sat doing nothing meant he was losing more and more control.

"Liam, you with me?" Derek asked the boy as Breaden turned back to the road and Liam looked at him "We have a mantra we use, you repeat it and you focus on the words, it's like meditating, you say the words until you feel control coming back to you"

Liam's breathing worsened, sweat continued to drip from his forehead and his claws remained as he stared over at Stiles who was watching the scene with anxiety. "Ok, ok, ok what are the words?" he asked aggressively the handcuffs making a rattling noise against the metal bench.

"Ok look at the triskelion, see the symbol" Derek told him as Liam's eyes wondered down to the object in between his claws "I have a tattoo on my back it's the same thing, each spiral means something…"

Before Derek could continue with his explanation Stiles cut in finishing it for him "Alpha, beta, omega"

"It represents the idea that we can always rise to one and fall back to another, beta's can become alpha's" Derek carried on whilst Liam looked between Derek and Stiles trying to focus on them.

"Alpha's can become beta's" Stiles added.

"Can alpha's become omegas?" Liam questioned through his puffs.

Derek nodded simply at him "All you have to do is say the three words with each one you tell yourself you're becoming calmer and more in control, go ahead"

"Alpha… Beta" Liam began.

"Slower" Derek ordered him.

"Alpha" Liam breathed out "Beta" he paused taking a breath "Omega"

Liam copied his words again making sure he concentrated and said it slow enough "Good" Derek said pleased with how this was actually going "Say it again, remember every time you say the words you're getting calmer"

However how wrong was he.

"Alpha" Liam spoke his voice thick with venom totally the opposite to what Derek was trying to do "Beta… Omega"

Stiles leant back in his space terrified as to what this mantra was doing to Liam. Instead of calming him down it was giving him more power to lose control and break out into full werewolf mode. Although, Derek was not giving up just yet and was egging him to continue.

"Say it again" he instructed the beta not even fussed.

"Derek I don't think that powerful talisman of self-control is working" Stiles said concerned just as Liam started to wolf out on the two of them.

His eyes shifted once again, the beta yellow glowing out into the small area in the back of the van, he began to growl out in rage, his body lunging forward towards Derek who was still telling him to speak the mantra whilst Stiles was getting further and further away from the werewolf.

As the young beta's control went horribly wrong and he was trying to lash out at Derek, the handcuffs which were connected to the seat by chains were being tugged off the surface by the wolf. The car made a swerve along the track due to the strength of Liam's moves causing Breaden to lose her own control of the steering wheel.

The chains suddenly broke causing Liam to be set free from what had been holding him back this whole time as Breaden tried to keep the car in one direction. Stiles quickly grabbed Derek's arm pulling him away from the beta who was now flinging his claws into the older guy's face waiting to attack him. The control Derek had tried to teach him was lost just like that.

"Derek" Breaden screamed from the front of the car worried what was happening.

"I think we're going to need to go a little faster" Stiles called back as he and Derek tried to get Liam away.

"Keep going" Derek told Breaden as she had no choice but to following his commands keeping her eyes on the road and hoping that they would all make it out of this van alive.

Derek and Stiles tried their best to keep the beta from clawing out at one of their faces, Derek's in particular since his useless mantra didn't even work and had sent Liam over the edge with his powers. "We're almost there" Breaden shouted to them staring up at the full moon still heavily in the sky above them but that wasn't the only thing that caught her eye. In her wing mirror a set of car lights drifted her attention, her eyebrows furrowing with confusion at the vehicle following behind them.

She leaned forward a little to get a better look at the car which was getting closer to them and her eyebrows raised a little when she spotted Sophia sat in the passenger side of the car alongside an older girl. Breaden had no idea that this teenaged girl was still sticking around and in Derek's life yet he hadn't mentioned anything about her on the way down here or that she was a part of their plan which made Breaden think that Derek had no idea his little friend was accompanying them on the trip.

"Focus" Derek yelled at Liam who was still trying to fight him off making Breaden snap away from her thoughts and back on the dirt track.

"I don't think alpha, beta, omega's residating with him" Stiles said over Liam's growls.

Derek quickly looked over at the guy beside him "Do you know any other mantras?"

There was silence for a few moments until it came to Stiles "Yeah I do" he spoke up flinging towards Liam trying to grab his attention which was currently focused on injuring Derek "Liam! Liam! What three things cannot long be hidden?" Liam snapped his head round to face Stiles but ignored his words and it wasn't long before Liam was back in Derek's way trying to do some damage to the ex-wolf "Liam! Liam! Look at me, what three things cannot long be hidden?" Stiles repeated his question finally grabbing the beta's attention. "What three things?"

Liam clicked on to what Stiles was getting at and he focused his gaze on the other teenagers "The sun" he puffed out trying to get his breathing in control as well as his werewolf "The moon" Liam slowly loosened his grip on Derek who was still struggling "The truth"

"That's it" Stiles nodded relief washing over him "Now say it again"

"The sun…. the moon…. The truth" Liam recalled and every time he said it, he began to gain the control he had been longing for all this time. He let go of Derek's body, restraining his hands back down, his eyes changing back to their usual colour rather than his beta shade, his fangs vanishing away just as his claws did the same as well as his breathing which was returning back to normal.

"Derek" Breaden called his name her voice full of worry as her eyes flicked from the wing mirror where she could still see Sophia, the track ahead and to the three in the back. Derek would not be happy when he finds out that Sophia had joined them.

"We're ok" he informed her after Liam returned back to his normal self, with no werewolf powers over powering him like they had been before. Yet he had no clue as to why Breaden really had called his name.

"No Derek there's something you should know" Breaden said causing Derek to frown and turn his body round to the front of the van where Breaden was driving. Breaden avoided Derek's eye contact and looked through the side mirror once again to see Sophia still behind her causing her to gulp not knowing how to break it to him.

Stiles followed Braeden's gaze and realised that she was looking at something which was behind them, so instead of asking her what he decided to look out the van windows which were on the back doors of the van. It was only then he had noticed the bright car lights and as he edged closer to the glass he saw exactly what Breaden was getting at.

"Sophia's followed us here" Stiles admitted shyly turning his head back round to face Derek who had now flung his body round in his seat with a frown as Stiles directed his head over to the window "She's behind us Derek"

Derek laughed in disbelief at what he was hearing from the teenager, there was no way in hell Sophia would follow them down here and risk her life just to be a part of this. "It's true, Derek! Sophia's here" Breaden added as she turned the car into the small roads of the abandoned city where they would hopefully find the two missing teens.

Derek couldn't help but notice the seriousness in the pair's voice making him grow more concerned and puzzled as to how the hell Sophia could have followed them down here. Scooting closer to Stiles in the van, he arched his neck over to the back window where with his own eyes he could make out the figures of two young females following behind them in a white Volkswagen Beetle, two who looked very familiar to Sophia and Daniella.

Flying back in his seat, he took his phone back out of his pocket and quickly dialled Sophia's number before bringing it up to his ear. As the tone rang out into his ear, Derek began to anxiously tap his foot growing agitated when the call went to her voicemail. He knew that time had ran out, there was no turning back now for Sophia, she had come all of this way which Derek was unaware of and he had no time to demand her to turn back around and get the hell out of there, he had no idea how he was going to try protect her and her sister.

And that was confirmed to him as they pulled up alongside the other car outside the La Iglesia Church.
