Prompt 33: "Nope, it's my turn."

(Kate)

"Nope. It's my turn."

He's up and out of bed before she can protest, grabbing the baby monitor from her nightstand.

She sits up, tosses back the covers anyway. "Babe, I can take care of her," she says. "I want to take care of her."

"You need your rest, Kate," he argues. "You're going back to work tomorrow."

"Exactly," she says. "I'm going back to work, and I want to spend as much time with Charlie as I can before I do."

His expression softens. He smiles, nods. "Okay." He kisses her, then heads back to bed, taking the baby monitor with him. "I'll keep this," he says, placing in on his nightstand. "Just in case you girls need me."

She laughs softly. "I think we'll be okay."

(They are. But she calls him upstairs anyway.)
