Chapter 28

Annabeth

Spring break came quicker than Annabeth would've liked, but ever since Percy, and Fletcher's…multiple injuries, Annabeth knew that it was best for them all to head back to camp. Including Fletcher and Skye.

Annabeth was cleaning out her locker at the end of her last day at Goode (not that there was a lot in there), when Percy came up to her, surprising her slightly, which he was very much amused at.

"Ready?" he asked, hiding his laughter at Annabeth's little jump, which was smart of him, considering Annabeth was ready to punch him if he even so much as let out a chuckle.

"Almost," she said, pulling out her AP Psych book and placing it in her bag along with her AP Calculus, and AP World. She sighed and Percy placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I know you're disappointed," he said, "but just think about all of the tutoring you can give me at camp." A smile danced on his lips, and Annabeth narrowed her eyes at him before punching him on the shoulder.

"Ow!" he protested, and this time Annabeth was the one to laugh, earning a glare from her boyfriend, but he instantly replaced it with a playful grin of his own. Annabeth shut her locker closed, and slung her bag over her shoulder before grabbing Percy's hand.

"Let's go, Seaweed Brain," she said, and Percy smiled at her before they headed out of the school, ignoring the stares they were getting from some of the people who were speculating on why all of a sudden, nine students were leaving, and not coming back.

"Annabeth!" someone said, stopping her when she and Percy were outside. Rachel Elizabeth Dare ran up to the couple, her hair pulled back in a ponytail to keep her frizzy hair out of her face.

"Are you guys heading to camp?" she asked, and Annabeth and Percy both nodded in response to her.

"I'll be there in the summer," Rachel said, "but until then."

She went forward and gave Annabeth a hug, which the daughter of Athena greatly returned. She knew that she and Rachel had had a rougher past, but seeing it now, she was glad she had a friend in the redheaded girl.

"Good luck with him," Rachel said, nodding towards Percy who placed a hand over his chest and pretended to look offended. Annabeth grinned and rolled her eyes.

"It'll be difficult, but I'll manage."

"You two are both so rude," Percy scoffed, and Annabeth took his hand in hers again, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.

"Shut up, you love me," she said, and Percy grinned.

"That I do."

Rachel laughed at the couple's antics before leaning forward to give Percy a hug, which he returned.

"Take care of each other, will you?" Rachel said, and Percy grinned before nodding at her.

"Always," he said, and Annabeth ignored the way her heart fluttered in her chest at his words. Rachel waved to both of them before they continued on their way. Annabeth had packed all of her stuff from Percy's house the night before, and their bags were already in the back of Percy's car, ready to go.

Annabeth saw Piper, Jason, Hazel, Frank, and Leo all waiting near the parking lot, each of them looking eager to go, as if they were worried another monster attack would happen out of nowhere. Annabeth smiled and waved to them, and they returned the gesture as she and Percy got closer.

"I'm ready to go to camp," Leo said exasperated while leaning against Jason's car. Annabeth noticed the dark circles under his eyes, and she grew slightly worried, hoping that he had been getting enough sleep lately. She wished she knew what was bothering him, she could tell something was just by the way his eyes looked.

"So are we, are you guys ready?" Piper asked, and Percy and Annabeth nodded in response.

"Okay guys, let's head out," Jason said, and climbed into the driver's seat while Piper sat in the passenger seat. Frank, Hazel, and Leo all climbed into the back, squishing Leo slightly against the window, which was very amusing to witness. It was like a bunch of clowns getting into a small car at a circus.

The five demigods drove off towards camp, waiting to meet Percy, Annabeth, Fletcher, and Skye there.

The only problem was, Skye and Fletcher were nowhere to be seen.

"Where are they?" Annabeth asked, speaking aloud the thoughts that both she and Percy were thinking.

"I don't know," Percy admitted, looking around at the clutter of students that were filing out of the school for Spring Break.

Suddenly, Skye came stumbling towards them, her friends following close behind, begging her to stay and not to go to that "boarding school" that she told them all that she was going to. Skye smiled sadly before giving them each a hug, and then coming over to Percy and Annabeth.

"Sorry I'm late," she apologized, "it was kind of hard saying goodbye."

"You know you'll still be able to visit," Percy pointed out, "Camp isn't that far."

"I know," Skye nodded, "I've just never really been apart from them for that long."

Annabeth stared at her cousin, and contemplated on what it must have been like living until their middle teenage years without ever getting attack by a monster or ever knowing that they were demigods. She didn't know how she and Fletcher had done it.

"Where's Fletcher?" Skye asked while placing her bag onto the ground.

"We don't know," Annabeth admitted, but as soon as the words left her mouth, she spotted him, hugging Annemarie of all people. Annabeth resisted the urge to roll her eyes, and Skye must have noticed what she was rolling her eyes at. She turned and spotted her brother just as he leaned in to kiss Annemarie.

"Hey Fletcher!" Skye yelled, earning the attention of probably the whole population of New York. Annabeth and Percy exchanged glances before watching the amusing scene unfold before them.

"Get your ass over here! We have to leave, like right now!" Skye yelled, and Fletcher glared intensely at his sister before giving Annemarie one last kiss and grabbing his bag.

"Hurry up! You're a lacrosse player, but some hustle into it!" Skye boomed, like a coach yelling at the team to hurry up.

"Jeez Skye, who knew you had that in you?" Annabeth asked with an amused grin dancing on her lips. Skye smiled sheepishly as Fletcher made his way over.

"What the hell is your problem?" he asked Skye, who merely rolled her eyes at him before walking over to Percy's car with the others right behind her.

"Excuse me for not wanting to get eaten by a monster because you took too long kissing your girlfriend, who by the way, is a bitch," Skye said matter-of-factly, and Annabeth and Percy had to stifle their laughter when Fletcher's jaw dropped as he climbed into the backseat next to Skye.

Annabeth tossed her bag, along with Percy's, in the trunk of the car before walking over to the passenger's seat. Fletcher and Skye were already bickering in the back.

"She's not a bitch!"

"Oh please!"

"I think you're the one being a bitch."

"Your opinion is irrelevant."

Annabeth smiled at the memory of when she first arrived in New York and Skye and Fletcher would constantly bicker every morning before school because Skye didn't want to be late, but Fletcher was taking his time getting ready.

"Guys," Percy said, interrupting their argument, although his eyes showed that he was very amused with the remarks they made, "this is going to be a long ride as it is, I think you should both just shut it."

Annabeth chuckled as Skye and Fletcher both grumbled apologies like they were five and being scolded by their parents to be quiet. When Percy turned back around after looking at them, he shot Annabeth a grin, and she just rolled her eyes at him, although a smile of her own danced on her lips.

Percy pulled out of the parking lot, and they drove through the bustling streets of Manhattan.

"So what's going to happen to Annemarie, anyways?" Annabeth asked, wondering about the ex-Hunter.

"She's going to continue staying at our house," Fletcher explained, "our mom said it was alright. And I can visit her on breaks and in the summer."

"Unfortunately," Skye grumbled, and Fletcher shot her a glare. She put her hands up as if to say: Don't look at me. But Fletcher just rolled his eyes at her, and looked out the window.

They drove in silence for a little while, with only the hum of the car, and the soft music coming from the radio, when they got stopped at a traffic light. Annabeth was leaning her elbow against the window, just watching as cars drove by, when she spotted a small café on the side of the road.

Due to the nice weather, especially after the horrible winter that New York had had, the outside seating was open. Annabeth scanned the crowd, smiling slightly as she pictured herself and Percy sitting at one of those roadside cafes one day, when she spotted someone. Her aunt was sitting at one of the tables, laughing with a man who sat across from her.

"Uh guys," Annabeth said, "isn't that your mom?"

Both Fletcher and Skye looked out the window, and Annabeth swore that their jaws dropped all the way to the ground.

"Yeah," Fletcher said, "who is that guy?"

"Is Mom seeing someone?" Skye mused, "Awe!"

"Not 'Awe'!" Fletcher snapped, "Why would she hide this from us?"

"Oh shush, I think it's cute," Skye said, shushing her brother, who only glared at her harder.

"Do you guys want to stop?" Percy questioned, glancing up at the stop light that was still glowing red.

"Could we?" Skye asked, and Percy nodded just as the light turned green. He turned into the parking lot of the café and parked as the four of them got out of the car, and headed inside.

"Table for four?" the hostess asked as they walked inside, and the four demigods only shook their heads, and said that they needed to speak with someone who already had a table. Annabeth felt her stomach growl at the sight of all of the good food as they headed outside to the outside dining, but she only picture the food at camp, and how it was ten times better.

"Mom?" Skye said, and Aunt Ronnie turned suddenly at her daughter's voice.

"Skye!" she said and stood up to hug her, "Fletcher! What are you guys doing here?"

"We saw you from the street," Fletcher pointed out, glancing a few times at the man who sat across from his mother. Annabeth could sense a bit of hostility coming off of Fletcher, seeing as he had been the man of the house for…well, forever. It must be weird for him to think that there was the possibility of that roll being filled by someone else, even if Fletcher wasn't at home all the time, as much as he was.

"I'm so glad I got to see you all before you headed off. I had an early meeting this morning so I didn't get to see you before school," Aunt Ronnie said, and then smiled warmly at Annabeth and Percy who waved to her.

"Oh! This is Patrick," Aunt Ronnie said, gesturing towards the man with the dark hair and the bright blue eyes. Patrick smiled and stood up, shaking both Skye and Fletcher's hands.

"Nice to meet you," Skye said cheerfully, but Fletcher was silent.

"Patrick and I have been dating for a few months now," Aunt Ronnie explained, "I was going to tell you, but you both had so much going on."

"I understand, Mom," Skye said, and smiled warmly to Patrick.

"Patrick, this is my daughter, Skye, and my son, Fletcher. This is also my niece, Annabeth, and her boyfriend, Percy," Aunt Ronnie said, introducing the four of them to Patrick.

While the exchange went on, Annabeth felt Percy's hand slip into her own, and she smiled while intertwining her fingers with his. There didn't need to be any words said between the two of them, the small gesture was just enough to make Annabeth's heart pound, and for her legs to feel like jelly.

She hated the effect he had on her, but she loved it at the same time. It was the best oxymoron to ever happen to her.

Once Skye and Fletcher were done meeting Patrick and saying goodbye to their mother, Annabeth stepped forward and gave her aunt a hug.

"Thank you, for everything," Annabeth said softly to her aunt. She hadn't seen much of her since she's been here, and she felt it was necessary to imply that she was very grateful for her hospitality.

"Anytime dear, just please, take care of my babies," Aunt Ronnie whispered back, only loud enough for Annabeth to hear. Annabeth pulled back and noticed the tears in her aunt's eyes. She knew it must be hard for her to let them go, especially after all of this time, but they would be safer at camp.

"I will," Annabeth said, "I promise."

Aunt Ronnie smiled and pulled her in for another hug before letting her go.

"Say hello to your father for me, will you?" she asked, and Annabeth smiled.

"Of course."

With their final goodbyes, the four demigods left the restaurant, climbed back into Percy's car, and headed off to Camp Half-Blood.

Skye

About halfway through the car ride, Skye and Fletcher started bickering again. Skye just couldn't take how he could be so ignorant as to date that…that girl.

"She's definitely a fake blonde," Skye commented, "no one's hair is that color."

"Oh will you shut up?" Fletcher hissed, "You're just jealous."

"As if!" Skye scoffed, "and she definitely has boob implants."

"Doubt it," Fletcher protested.

"Oh please, like you care. As long as their good enough for your liking."

"I actually care about her, not her body, for your information."

"Well that's pretty dumb because she has a shit personality."

"Like you?"

"Ouch, you wound me, Fletcher, really."

Skye could see Annabeth and Percy trying not to laugh in the front seat, and the sight only made Skye even more amused with her argument with Fletcher. She and Fletcher fight a lot, but they still do care deep down for each other.

Even if they don't show it sometimes.

"I'm probably a better archer than you," Skye said.

"That's a joke," Fletcher retorted back.

"Says the guy who got an arrow in his shoulder."

"That was Frank's fault."

"It was your fault for standing in the way!"

"I was observing."

"Oh wow, gee, thanks for your help. While we fight a huge dangerous monster you're observing. Have you ever heard of a hero who's famous for observing?!"

"You know what, your sarcasm isn't appreciated."

"Your face isn't appreciated."

"I'd have to disagree."

This time, Percy and Annabeth couldn't hold back the laughter in the front seat, and both of them burst into a fit of giggles, as they drove along, getting closer to camp.

"What are you laughing at?" Fletcher asked, defensively.

"You two are impossible," Annabeth chuckled. Skye grinned, stifling her own laugh, but as soon as Fletcher gave her a look of complete confusion, all of the laughter she was holding back come out, and soon, all three of them were laughing while Fletcher looked on in confusion.

"You guys are weird," he mumbled.

"You have no idea," Percy said between laughter.

Okay so I decided to end it there because I started rushing this chapter because I have to go, but Skye will get the guy in the next chapter!

Promise!

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this filler kind of light-hearted chapter. I get very amused in Skye and Fletcher's arguments.
