Chapter 28
A/N: I just want to thank you all for your patience; I am aware of how long I've been updating my chapters and I apologize for that. My exams are coming up and I have to study extra hard for this year. Also, I just want to thank those who have reviewed, followed, and favorited this story, it really motivates me and I love receiving them, it means a lot to me.
Disclaimer: C.S. Lewis owns the Chronicles of Narnia, I only own the OC's and this bag of M&M's that I'm having right now
Tiptoeing at the dead of night through the silent halls of the Cair, hoping that no one would be awake at this hour, save for the guards lingering in front of doors like owls through each hour of the day, she aimed her direction towards Edmund's quarters.
Idiotically, she left her slippers behind, meaning she had to walk around in bare feet, making more noise than usual. The guards that lingered about didn't seem to care as they were now familiar of her presence. However, it was unusual for her to be out of her chambers at this late hour.
As soon as she reached his door, she didn't bother to knock; she knew that he would be sound asleep, and as she soundlessly opened the door, her expectations were exceeded as he was found on his bed, his covers making him appear like an overly sized potato; fast asleep.
She smiled to herself, the sight was actually quite endearing, despite everything he'd been through. As soon as she slowly made her way towards him, she stopped mid-way. Was it worth waking him up at this hour? He must feel very tired, having to endure his siblings and their emotional reactions to the events, herself and Caspian included. Should she wait until tomorrow? The latter slowly shook her head, of course she couldn't wait, tomorrow was going to be a busy day for the Monarchs, and she would never have time with herself and Edmund alone, so this would be a suitable time to be together.
Edmund groaned slightly, and moved so that he had his back towards her. The latter sighed and resumed her movement towards the young King, having made her decision to wake him up.
As she reached his bedside, she took one look at Edmund and noted how he finally had colour back on his skin. Before, he was deathly pale having lost so much blood and from being malnourished. Thanks to Aslan, it looks as if Edmund is recovering well. He also looked peaceful when he slept, the way his dark lashes would fall in contrast to his white skin, and his arms resting from underneath the pillow, made her smile.
Though she did recall those nights, way before their captivity, when Edmund would have horrible nightmares; she also remembered hearing Peter coming into his room and comforting the young King with soft words which worked effectively, as Edmund's crying had slowly died down.
She always wondered how Peter did it. It seemed that Edmund was immediately satisfied and content whenever his brother was there for him. Such love was so strong, nothing could discrete it.
Eris sighed softly to herself, her emotions getting the best of her. She remembered a loving brother. A brother just like Peter himself who was kind; gentle; loving, and caring towards her. A brother who was with her till the very end.
A brother who broke his promise.
She felt a lump forming in her throat; she tried to swallow it back down and nearly succeeded, until she heard the soft delicate voice that belonged to Edmund from his bed.
"Eris? Is that you?" he asked, somehow confused. He blinked a few times before turning his head round, as if looking for someone
"Yes, Edmund it's me." Eris replied
"Where's Peter? I thought he would be staying all night."
"Well, he's not here. He must have went as soon as you slept." Eris said softly.
Edmund looked forward at nothing in particular. Knowing he was beginning to start daydreaming, he quickly came to his senses and looked back at Eris.
Eris stared right back at him, "I came just now. I just wanted to have some time with you because I know we wouldn't be able to get any time to ourselves tomorrow, and well . . . I can't bare to wait the day after."
Edmund adjusted his position and motioned for Eris to come lie down with him under the covers, and she did so. As soon as she got comfortable, she looked back at Edmund, and he saw the sadness in her pale brown eyes.
"Eris, are you okay?" He asked tentatively, not daring to touch her cheek as he so desired, for some reason.
Eris mentally cursed herself for not being able to have the talent of hiding emotions, she just couldn't hide whatever she felt at heart no matter how much she tried to hide it. By now, she was aware of her eyes watering but no matter what, she wouldn't bring herself to cry.
"Just thinking." Eris said with a small sniff
"Of?" Edmund said patiently and yawning in the process. It wasn't like Eris to be emotional, despite what had happened early this afternoon. There had been a long pause, and Edmund was beginning to wonder whether Eris would answer him. But eventually she did.
"Well, I just really envy you I guess. But not in a bad way of course." Eris quickly added the last part in hopes of trying not to sound shallow
"Envy? Why ever would you say that?"
"Well, I don't know. It's just that . . . you are so lucky to have a caring brother like Peter. I've seen the way he comforts you, the way he is protective over you. And mind you, I am aware that his over-protectiveness can drive you insane, but that's what big brother's are all about. It's really nice seeing the pair of you bickering good naturedly at times; it just brings a smile on my face you know?" Eris had been looking towards the wall just behind Edmund, not meeting his eyes as she said this.
Edmund listened and smiled unconsciously at the description, because they were all true. Now thinking back on it, Peter had always been there for him. He always guided him to the right path, and he was exceptionally forgiving. And in return, he had comforted Peter at his most difficult times, including back in England, when he wasn't adjusting to life without Narnia very well in boarding school, he always had his back whenever he got into his stupid fights, and Peter had always cared for him from beginning till end, no matter how annoyed he got. Thinking back on it, he felt extremely lucky, just as Eris said, to be able to have a brother like Peter.
Edmund smiled wider when Eris met his eyes, "I guess I am lucky to have someone like him in my life. But he isn't the only one."
Eris grinned at Edmund, "Really?" Edmund could be so sweet sometimes
"Yeah, my sisters."
Eris's smile faded. That was not the answer she expected. "Oh."
Edmund couldn't help but chuckle at the reaction. Eris can be funny to tease sometimes. "I'm joking you absolute dolt!" Edmund was openly grinning by now, "You are the best thing that's entered in my life." He enjoyed watching Eris's relieved reaction.
"Good. It better be." Eris equally grinned.
"But you know the rules Eris, family comes first." Edmund lectured, amusement evident in his voice.
Eris rolled her eyes. But soon, her grin slowly faded, replaced with a hollow expression. Evidently, this did not go unnoticed by Edmund who immediately grew concerned and confused by the sudden change of mood.
"Eris. It appears that you haven't told me everything. Now spill."
Eris looked at Edmund with a light frown, "What? What makes you think—"
"Eris." Edmund interrupted, he knew that something was up as she always used the same sentence whenever she was trying to cover up something. And he was having none of it.
Eris sighed. Finally relenting, she propped herself up by her elbows and looked down at Edmund intensely and seriously, almost making him shiver under her watch.
"Promise me you won't get angry?" She asked him, after a few moments.
Edmund frowned, "Why would I be? Have you done something?"
"No." Eris sighed and plopped her head back on Edmund's pillow, looking straight up at the ceiling, "I just thought that you might get annoyed because I haven't told you much about my own family." The last word was hard to spit out but she said it eventually.
Edmund frowned again and turned his head to fully face her, "You had a family? I thought—" he shut himself up immediately. He hadn't meant for that to sound offensive in any way, but Eris's reply took him by surprise
"You thought that I simply had no family. That I grew up homeless, and cared for myself and no one else." Eris finished it off.
Edmund remained silent for some time until he finally agreed hesitantly, "Y-yes. . ."
"Well I did." Eris said sharply, not meaning for it to sound cruel.
Edmund pushed himself up so that he was leaning on his elbow, much like Eris did before, and looked down at her; her eyes still looked up at the ceiling. "I'm sorry if I upset you."
Eris finally looked into Edmund's eyes, and her features softened, "No, don't be. It was me since I've kept my mouth shut about all of this. you deserve to know everything about me just as much as i deserve to know everything about you. You have no place to apologize to me."
Edmund grinned, "Is that a command now?"
"Yes it most definitely is, King Edmund the Just." She said in mock serious manner, if anything the amusement in her voice gave it away.
After a few moments of laughing and grinning, the pair of them lapsed into comfortable silence.
The minute Edmund thought that they wouldn't talk much longer, Eris broke the silence
"His name was Noah."
Edmund looked at Eris, "Your brother?"
Eris nodded in response, "I don't remember much about him and I have forgotten what he looks like."
Edmund was shocked. He couldn't ever imagine not being able to remember one of his siblings; just the mere thought made him want to shiver.
"But I do have a rough image of what he may have looked like. . ." Eris continued.
Edmund's eyebrows rose up, "You do? Do tell me."
"A male version of me."
Edmund tried to hold back laughter, and instead grinned crookedly, "Wait. . . you're a girl?"
"Oh shut up Edmund." She smiled as she lightly whacked Edmund on the arm.
There was another moment of silence and Edmund was desperate to know what had happened, but felt like it would be too much. Still, he was curious and soon, his curiosity got the better of him as he asked, "What happened?"
Eris sighed, "He was murdered. They all were."
Edmund figured that 'all' meant her family. He sighed softly and propped himself back on his feather-stuffed pillow, "I'm sorry. This must be really hard for you."
"Whatever do you mean?" Eris asked curiously
"Seeing people with a family . . . not like it's a bad thing or that sort. It's just, I know it's hard for you to see a brother-figure like Peter, and knowing that you won't ever feel the same love from a sibling again. But just remember that they are safe now, in Aslan's country. Nothing bad will come over them." He reassured.
Eris smiled appreciatively and leaned in closer to Edmund so that he now had his arm around her.
"Perhaps Aslan has been planning something for you." Edmund thought out loud.
Eris frowned slightly, "Challenges?"
"Yes. Take our captivity for example, we have endured a lot in our lives and we've managed to hold on. Also look at it this way, Aslan had chosen me and my siblings to take the thrones because he knew that we would bring peace into Narnia—"
"Which you have." Eris interrupted. Edmund smiled and continued
"But do you see my point? Everything happens for a reason, and Aslan knows what he's doing. So instead of mourning for the loss of loved ones, thank Aslan that they are now in a better place and that they are in no danger. They're at peace."
Eris contemplated what Edmund had said and came to conclusion that he was indeed right. She needed to learn to accept what had occurred in the past. She needed to learn the fact that you can never replay moments in life, what had happened, happened.
"I never would have thought of it that way at all." Eris turned her head towards Edmund, "Thanks."
Edmund, by now, was looking up towards the ceiling and smiled softly to assure Eris he heard her.
Eris grinned, "When did you get so wise Edmund?"
The said King looked at her with an amused look, "I've always been wise thank you very much."
Eris scoffed at that, "Yeah, sure." She said sarcastically, before facing back up, like Edmund had been doing.
The comfortable silence took over once again, and Edmund had almost drifted off to sleep, until he felt the bed shift. He opened his eyes, not remembering when he had closed them in the first place, and looked to see Eris sitting on the bed ready to stand up.
"Leaving already?" Edmund asked, not wanting her to go.
"It's late Edmund. I should go now; tomorrow is a busy day for you and your brother and sisters, and you need your sleep."
Edmund thought about it, "Your right." He said, feeling gutted, "Well . . . sweet dreams Eris."
Eris got off the bed by now and turned to face Edmund, "Good night Eddie." She smirked at the scowl on Edmund's face before turning to leave.
By now, Edmund was very tired and closed his eyes. He was determined to get as much sleep as he could. He didn't want to show up the next day with purple bags under his eyes. He was a king and thus, had to look regal and well.
Before sleep overtook him, he could have sworn he felt a light kiss on his cheek and the sound of the door shutting with a light click.

The next day at the throne room…
"Oh, where is he? He should be here by now!" Peter whispered loudly towards Susan on his left.
Peter, Susan and Lucy were sitting on their thrones with Caspian sitting not far from Peter with a centaur at the guard. The majority of Narnians and Telmarines were gathered and seated before them, waiting for the late King.
Equally, Susan whispered back, "He'll be here soon, just be patient and stop complaining." She sighed. The word 'patience' simply did not exist within Peter's mind. Although she didn't deny that Edmund was taking too long and that he'd better show up any minute now, because Peter was going to explode soon.
Peter narrowed his eyes slightly, "I knew I should have sent a dryad to wake him up an hour early. . ."
Lucy, who was seated at the end on Susan's left, leaned in close to Susan, "Where's Eris and Finn?" she asked.
"Don't be silly Lu," Susan said amusingly, "They won't be attending court. They're not experienced with. . . this sort of thing. It would just be awkward, and it's not necessary anyway since they already know of what had happened considering they were the one's involved with the whole situation."
Lucy nodded and sat back straight as regal-like as possible.
As soon as Peter opened his mouth to whisper another complaint, the entrance of the throne room opened rather loudly with a bang as it came in contact with the walls behind thus, the whole room immediately grew silent, and all heads turned towards the person standing between the two grand doors.
Non surprisingly, it was the Just King, looking disheveled and awkward with his silver crown tilted side ways on his head as if he had been in a rush . . . which wouldn't be a surprise for Peter of course.
Edmund looked around and blushed when he realised that all the attention was on him; soon he began to walk down the pathway that lead to the dais.
It wasn't until he made it halfway that the creatures and Telmarines started cheering loudly and clapping their hands at the sight of their Just King happy and well after so much worrying. Edmund stopped instantly on his tracks and looked around at the relieved and happy faces of his people with wide surprising eyes as this was definitely unexpected. Soon, a crowd started forming around him, and he was repetitively greeted from the creatures who claimed to have been happy that he was safe again. He shook hands with some of the creatures and said multiple "thank you's" until General Haddon came in sight and emptied the growing crowd that formed around the Just King
Edmund was able to breathe again after almost being squished by happy Narnians, and nodded to the centaur as a silent 'thank you' before resuming his walk to his throne.
The latter ignored Peter's glare as he sat down, and waited for him to continue as he looked towards the crowd who, in turn, looked back at him; causing the young King to blush again.
He hadn't meant to arrive late as expected. It was for the first time in what seemed like ages that he had peaceful sleep last night after having that talk with Eris. His dreams were actually still vivid in his mind, and he finally felt more energy run through him than before. But then again, his unexpected energy could have come from this morning when he woke up and realised that the hallway was emptier than usual, and it was then that he rapidly got dressed and ran down the grand stairs of the palace; all the way down to the throne room.
Edmund shook that thought away; he just hoped that his current adrenaline would still be there throughout the day today.
Peter's voice pulled Edmund away from his thoughts; he didn't even notice that Peter had stood up.
"As you know, we are all aware of your understanding as to why we are all here." Peter turned and looked at Edmund with a welcoming smile, "And I proudly announce, not as a High King, but as a brother, that we are obviously glad that you are back. . . and we are proud of you. Together, we have conquered the evil once again, and found our country the peace that it deserved. Welcome back, my brother."
That being said, Edmund smiled and wasted no time jumping off his throne and hugging his brother tightly. Peter returned the gesture almost instantly.
At first, the audience before them were surprised as they had not seen their Kings act in this way before. They were so used to their formal manner that this had truly took them by surprise. But soon after, they began cheering and clapping yet again. After all, the once empty throne wasn't so empty anymore.
Lucy and Susan exchanged glances and couldn't stop smiling. It seemed like ages since this time would come.
Soon, the brothers let go, and both of them realised that they both had happy tears on their faces. Thus, they both laughed, before turning to face the crowd.
"As you all may not yet know, there is still that explanation that I owe to you all, since the unexpected disappearance of King Edmund may have confused you all." Peter snuck an uneasy glance towards Edmund; he knew that this wouldn't be easy for him to repeat everything that had happened. But the logical side of him assured himself that it had to be done. His people had to know what had been happening and who was behind all of this.
Edmund caught the glance that Peter gave him, and he knew that he had to be strong and not let his brother's tale affect him or bring back harsh memories.
Peter then proceeded to tell the crowd from start to the present about what had occurred during the past long weeks. As soon as he mentioned Janet's name, almost every person started growling and protesting, "I knew it!" or "I should have known that scumbag was behind this!"
Despite this, Peter had managed to quieten them down, with General Haddon's help, before finishing off the tale. All this time, Edmund had been looking down from where he was sat; unaware of the worried glances that Susan and Lucy occasionally shot at him. He was just looking forward to when Peter would finish, and luckily for him Peter was now talking about how he and his sisters were glad to see him and Eris finally back.
"It was with no doubt that Aslan had been with us the whole time, and we shall continue to look up to the Great Lion for any help, for He would never let you down; all you need is faith." At the word 'faith', Peter craned his neck to look at Lucy, who was brightly smiling at him. Peter turned towards the crowd again, "I hereby advise each and every one of you to continue praying to Him, for it is He that has the true power to defeat evil. I thank you all for your patience, and let the Lion be with you at all times."
There was a brief moment of silence and Peter was beginning to fear that the audience weren't satisfied. But before he could jump to conclusions, the whole crowd stood on their feet, hoofs and paws, and started to cheer louder than ever for their welcomed King.
Peter looked back at Susan and Lucy, who smiled proudly back at him. He then looked over at Caspian who was clapping his hands slowly despite the crowds fast paced cheering, and finally he turn to look at Edmund was sat on his throne with a smile on his face . . . albeit he blushed once again. When they both locked gazes, Peter held out his hand towards the dark haired King.
Edmund saw this as permission, and stood up to take his brother's hand. Then almost instantly, Peter held up both of their arms up above their heads as a sign of victory, which only increased the cheering of their people. The throne room was filled with the sound of claps and cheers and the Pevensie's could never imagine a better moment.
Edmund was laughing from joy at the crowd before him. He turned his head to the right hand side where a small balcony was, so that he could look up at the bright cloudless sky; thanking the heavens, but instead he saw two heads sticking out from the side of the glass door.
Edmund narrowed his eyes a little to get a closer look, and then he caught a glimpse of black hair on one of the two heads, and two little horns on the other head.
Edmund chuckled loudly as he realised who the two sneaky beings were.
Eris waved at Edmund with a big grin on her face, and Finn couldn't help but blush at the fact of being 'caught' and couldn't help but giggle.
Since Eris and Finn were quite far from Edmund, they couldn't be heard over the crowd's cheering and laughter, so Eris gave Edmund a big thumbs up as a way of saying "Way to go!" and Finn imitated her action as he felt it was the right thing to do so. The gesture made Edmund smile gratefully, he certainly felt 5 times more motivated.
He was forced to snap his gaze away from them as Peter started speaking
"Edmund, what are you looking at?" Peter said, enough to be heard from the happy crowd before them
"Uh, nothing Pete." The dark haired Pevensie quickly said.
Of course, Peter wasn't easy to fool. He looked at the direction that Edmund had been looking at and slowly shook his head with a small smirk on his face before facing the crowd again.
By now, the crowd slowly began to quieten down and before long, they were all dismissed. Most of them still had smiles on their faces while others were frowning at the idea of Janet being behind it all.
As the throne room was now empty except for the Generals and the guards and the monarchs, Lucy suddenly piped up
"That went really well than I expected."
Susan nodded, "I agree, I guess we were stressed over nothing." She and Lucy chuckled.
Caspian stood so that he was next to Peter "That was really impressive Peter; the way you handled the crowd was really well done. Though I'm aware that soon I will have to be the one to handle courts as well as you do . . . perhaps you could teach me to do so?"
Peter was taken aback at the request, but was quite thrilled at the compliment, "Sure, it is my pleasure." He said with a grateful smirk.
Peter turned round to face Edmund with the same mischievous smirk, and Edmund had a feeling that Peter was up to something.
Peter slowly looked up somewhere behind Edmund, "I know you two are in there! Come out from hiding!" he called out, and Edmund stiffened. Had he really been that obvious?
He turned around and saw the two figures slowly appearing into view, and smiled when they saw the guilty smiles on their faces.
Susan chuckled, "Eris? Finn? What were you doing in there?"
"Eavesdropping." Lucy quickly answered for her, and Eris turned to Lucy in mock accusation
"We weren't eavesdropping. We were just . . . um . . . Finn lost a book . . . so we were just trying to find it."
"But Eris I can't read." Finn reminded her, ruining the excuse. The monarchs soon erupted with laughter.
Edmund looked at Eris, shaking his head "Honestly Eris, even Peter can think of better excuses than that." He slowly looked at his brother who frowned at him "No offence Pete . . ."
"None taken." Peter mumbled
General Haddon soon interrupted the banter by reminding the monarchs of their sessions for the day, "Sire I don't mean to interject, but your training sessions are going to continue from today onward so I suggest you all get ready and go to the training fields by half an hour's time."
Expecting the monarchs to groan with dread, smiles appeared on their faces instead. Peter turned to look at Edmund and then at Eris
"Are you sure the both of you will be able to train?"
"Well I am." Eris answered, "But I'm not sure if Edmund is."
"I am!" Edmund defended quickly.
Peter pursed his lips, "Are you sure Ed? 'cos I don't want you to train with sore body parts."
"It's only a couple of bruises Pete, trust me." Edmund reasoned.
Peter paused for a minute, and finally nodded his head, "I trust you."
0O0O0O
Training was slower than usual for the Kings. Susan and Lucy were fine in the archery fields. But Peter was careful when fighting with Edmund in fear of injuring him further. Eris did not fight at all during the training as she was content in watching the brother's along with Caspian.
As training ended, the boys were dripping with sweat and Susan and Lucy were beginning to feel fatigued.
Eris caught up to Edmund's side "You okay?" She asked, and Edmund nodded in reply, too tired to speak.
As they made it in the castle, they quickly walked up the steps, eager to make it to the hallways that contained the quarters. Soon they made it to the top and Edmund decided to walk Eris to her chambers.
As Eris opened the door, her eyes grew wide as she took in the small figure crouched down against her bed.
Edmund gasped softly, "Finn?"
Eris wasted no time in running towards the lithe creature; she crouched down low beside him and softly spoke "Finn talk to me, what's wrong?"
Finn wrapped had his arms wrapped around his furry knees, with his head resting against them. When he gave no reply, Eris looked helplessly up at a concerned Edmund.
Noting Eris's helplessness, he wrapped his arm around the small faun, "Finn what's wrong? Please talk to us. If you're upset, then Eris and I will get upset." Eris smiled softly at the comment, after all it was true, she couldn't bare to see her little friend sad.
After some time, Finn lifted up his head and she was surprised to see that they were bloodshot red
". . . Finn?"
A tear rolled down his delicate face, "I've looked around everywhere for her. I just couldn't find her."
Edmund from the other side frowned in confusion, "What do you mean? Looked for who?"
Finn didn't reply, he began to cry and dropped his head back on his arm.
It was then that it suddenly dawned on Eris, her eyes grew wide in realisation and she looked over at Edmund who still had his brow furrowed. It was obvious he was still confused.
She slowly stood up, taking the little faun up with her, "Come on Finn, let's get you back to the room." She said quietly. Her face was blank.
Edmund figured that he would get an answer soon, and decided to go back to his room to rest. After all, the little faun probably needed some space from whatever was bothering him.
"Eris, I'm going back to my chambers. I'll be back shortly when I'm fully rested." Edmund assured her
"Okay." Eris replied, she turned around and kissed Edmund briefly on the lips, before a small blush crept up on her cheeks, she then turned around, clasping Finn's hand in her own and walked out, leaving an amused Edmund behind.
The confusion with Finn's unexpected downfall still crept up behind his mind as he walked back to his room. He just hoped he would be okay and wondered if whether Eris knew about it.
He stopped shortly just before opening his door and decided to change directions. He soon found himself in front of Peter's door and wasted no time in walking in.
Edmund was surprised to find Peter sleeping on his armchair. 'Wow he must have really felt really warn out today', Edmund thought to himself as he shut the door before walking in so he was standing before his brother.
He was silently debating himself on whether he should wake Peter up or not. He really wanted to speak to Peter again, yet he seemed so peaceful. Edmund sighed and ran a hand through his dark locks.
"Pete." He whispered, hoping he would not regret this in the long run.
Almost instantly, Peter's eyes shot open and immediately looked at the figure in front of him, "Ed?"
"Yeah." Edmund confirmed.
Peter looked around briefly, "Was I asleep?" he asked dumbly, which made Edmund laugh
"I'm gonna leave you to answer that one Pete."
Peter chuckled, "Sorry, I didn't know how much I was tired until I sat down and I couldn't resist." He suddenly wondered why his brother came to him unexpectedly, "Is everything okay? Surely after our first fighting session after a long time may have crippled you up by now."
Edmund chuckled at the comment and shook his head slowly, "No Pete, I'm fine. My body's still a little sore though, but I'm pretty much fine."
"You better be, Ed." Peter said softly, beginning to get serious "I just can't bare to see you crippled no longer. I think I've been traumatized back at the fight against the Northerners, when I first saw you after so long." Peter said feeling depressed.
Now it was Edmund's turn to make Peter feel better. He sat himself at the arm of the arm chair, looking at Peter with a soft expression
"Like I've been told hundreds of times, all of that has been done. And I pray to Aslan that nothing like that happens again." He shivered at the though of it happening again, "and I'm here now Peter. I'm fine." Edmund assured his brother.
Peter smiled at Edmund's effort and stood up so that he was now sat on his bed. Edmund followed shortly afterwards, and now they sat side by side.
"We've been through this a lot of times Pete. Surely you know by now that I am still here and will never leave you?"
"Of course I know Ed." Peter said before he awkwardly hugged his brother. Edmund stiffened, before chuckling and returning the hug. He knew that Peter needed this right now so he was glad to take it
As they parted from the hug, Edmund scrunched his nose, "You smell bad Pete."
The blonde chuckled, "You don't smell bad yourself, Eddie."
Edmund scowled al of a sudden, "Pete . . . I will seriously take off my boots and hit you in the head with it if you dare to call me 'Eddie' again."
Peter smirked, "Is that a threat, dear brother mine?"
"Yes."
"Very well then. I sincerely apologize. . . I just can't help being the best brother." Peter said sarcastically.
Edmund lightly smacked Peter in the head, "Oh shut up, you sod."
Peter grinned, then he scrunched his nose in a similar manner to Edmund's expression before, "Ed, remember when I said that you don't smell bad yourself? . . ."
Edmund chuckled before he stood up to leave, "In that case, I think my bath is calling for me right now. And sorry for waking you up from your nap."
"It's fine Ed, go and get cleaned up. I will see you shortly." Peter said, his mind feeling a hundred things at the thought of seeing Edmund again shortly. He truly didn't realize how much Edmund's disappearance had affected him so much, and already he can feel himself mentally healing knowing that everything was going to be okay. He just hoped to Aslan that it would stay this way, albeit he shouldn't get his hopes it too much. His mind and body was finally at ease, he could see how much Edmund was happy with Eris, and just the mere thought made himself satisfied. There was nothing more that he wanted than to make his siblings happy or better yet, to see them happy. He couldn't imagine a better feeling. Everything would be alright. . . at least hopefully.
After all, the Just King was back.
