Chapter 27 – Co-ordinating
Lilly fell back to the floor of the library with a groan. Books lay scattered around her and Violet sat beside her, her nose deep in a book.
"I can't find anything!" Lilly moaned
Violet swiped her hand in the air and the book she was reading flew to the ground and another one appeared.
"We can't stop Lilly." Violet said, "We don't have time for this! We need to find a way to defeat Renaldo without Riley and Kim."
Lilly groaned again. "I haven't found anything!" She cried, "I've found books on mythical beasts, communication spells, and history books, but no 'die Renaldo, die' books." She fell back to the ground.
Violet's head flew up from her book. "What did you say?"
Lilly looked over at Violet. "What? History books?"
"No! The communication spells."
Lilly rolled onto her stomach and pointed to a brown old book in the corner. "Yeah that book there. It's full of communication spells."
Violet dropped her current book and used her magic to bring that book Lilly indicated over to her. The book opened and Violet scanned the contents. She cried out in excitement when her eyes fell on a chapter.
"Communicating across dimensions! This is great!"
Lilly lifted herself up to her knees and looked over at her sister. "How is that great?"
Violet smirked. "Because I can send a communication back to a past version to Riley to let her know we're okay!"
Lilly raised an eyebrow. "And how will that help us?"
"It could change the present, don't you think?" She smirked
Lilly sighed before nodding. Violet stood tall and closed her eyes in concentration. She began to glow a soft gold. She held up her hands and focused. An image appeared in front of the two and Lilly watched as the image showed a past Riley. She was scribbling in her folder.
"I can't talk to her." Violet muttered, not breaking her concentration.
"Try the folder!" Lilly cried, pointing at Riley's folder. "Maybe that'll work."
Violet glowed brighter. The image depicted the younger Riley writing a poem, not noticing that a spare pen began to write on a spare piece of paper beside her.
"Come on." Lilly whispered
Violet finished the note and gasped before falling to her knees. Lilly watched as the vision faded. She walked over to Violet who lifted her head and smiled.
"I'm ok." She said, "Did it work?"
Lilly shook her head. "I don't know. But at least the folder worked."
Violet nodded. "Yeah. Yeah I guess." She looked around the room and sighed.
The two jumped when they heard a commotion back down in the castle. They ran out of the library and followed some knights to the main hall. There they saw Master Splinter, April, Casey and Mikey being led into the room bound.
"No," Lilly gasped
The knights pushed them to the ground at Renaldo's feet. He laughed evilly and clapped his hands.
"Such a good effort." He sneered, "Unfortunately, not good enough."
"What have you done to my sons!" Splinter cried angrily.
Renaldo laughed. "Oh I just gave them a littler perspective, that's all." He taunted, "But here, you can have them back now."
Renaldo snapped his fingers and Leo and Donnie fell to their knees in exhaustion. The glow in their eyes faded and their eyes searched the room in confusion.
"What happened?" Donnie muttered, rubbing his head. His eyes widened. "Violet!"
He looked around then his eyes landed on Renaldo. "What did you do?" He growled
"Me?" He laughed, "Why, nothing at all. It's what you did."
Donnie's eyes widened in shock. Leo weakly stood and unsheathed his katanas.
"Where are the girls?" He growled
Renaldo smirked then punched him in the gut. Leo grunted and fell, dropping his katanas as he did.
"They're gone." Renaldo said nonchalantly. "Why, the eldest princess is right over there." He pointed to Kim's body. "Right where you left her."
Leo followed his arm and his voice stuck in his throat. He felt sick, his head spun, tears threatened to fall.
"No." He whispered, "No!" He screamed
Renaldo picked up one of Leo's blades and held it out to him. "Oh yes." He said, "Just look at this mess."
Leo looked at the blade and nearly vomited. The blood was fresh and it stained his whole blade. The other was free of it, but this one was tainted. He shook his head and looked down. His hands were covered in blood. He looked up at Renaldo, realisation dawning on his face.
"I…I didn't…I couldn't have-"
"Oh but you did." Renaldo sneered, "You both did, actually."
"You murderer!" Leo shouted, jumping to his feet, only to be struck from behind by a knight.
"That's hypocritical coming from you both." Renaldo smirked before gesturing to some knights.
2 of them rushed forward and grabbed Leo and Donnie's arms. They bound them and pushed them to join their family.
"I must admit we did miss two. While one ran away like a coward the other just wouldn't let you go. Aye, orange one?" Renaldo smirked at Mikey, pulling one of his gloves on tighter.
Mikey dropped his head, regret and pain clearly showing on his face and in his eyes.
"Renaldo, you snake!" Drake cried from his cage. "How dare you use the turtles against the princesses!"
Renaldo waved a hand. "Oh shut up, Drake." He said, "The only reason you're even still alive is so you can witness as I take your beloved's throne."
Renaldo looked back at the group before him. "You've all outlasted your usefulness. You got rid of my enemies for me but you're done. Chain them up!"
Several knights rushed forward and grabbed the group. They all struggled and screamed but it was useless. They were pulled over to a wall and were magically bound to it with purple chains. They were stripped of their weapons and forced to stare opposite Kim's body. Renaldo sauntered over to the group proudly.
"I do admit one cretin and one dead princess aren't accounted for, but at least they know when they've lost."
"Like hell!" Casey shouted, "I know those two and they won't stop until you're done!"
Renaldo smirked. "Let's shut you up, shall we?"
Renaldo conjured electricity and attacked the group. The electricity went through their veins, causing them to scream in agony. Renaldo laughed as it died down.
"That was so much fun I must hurt you more."
He waved his hands above each other and in between them appeared a red ball of energy. In the middle were memories flashing by quickly. Renaldo walked close to the group and held the ball in front of them.
"Let's see how you handle these memories."
With that he guided the energy into them for all to see and experience. They screamed at what they saw. None more so than Donnie and Leo. For they saw just what exactly Donnie and Leo had done. Leo screamed hard. He hung his head and let the tears roll freely. Donnie shook against his restraints trying to break free. Renaldo just stood there, enjoying their misery.
Lilly and Violet looked at each other painfully. They didn't have much time left. They quickly left the hall and returned to the library. When they did so a bright white light engulfed the room. Lilly and Violet covered their eyes at the intensity and braced themselves for what was coming.
When the light faded they saw Riley, Emily and a normal Raph standing before them. In Riley's hands she held her folder.
"Riley!" Lilly screamed in delight.
Riley looked around the room in confusion before looking over at Emily.
"Are you sure they're here?" She asked
Lilly frowned, realising they couldn't hear or see her.
Emily nodded. "Yes princess. I have traced their magic to this room."
Riley nodded before walking cautiously to the middle of the room.
"Violet," She called out to the empty room. "If you and Lilly are here then I need you to let me know. I need a sign."
Violet looked around the room before her eyes landed on an old stereo. She smirked and used her magic on the stereo.
"Here I am - this is me
There's no where else on earth I'd rather be"
Riley gasped as the song lyrics played through the old stereo. Riley smiled a teary smile, looking around the room.
"You're alive."
"We're alive, we're alive, we're alive-live."
The stereo played.
Riley nodded and laughed. "You guys are here." She wiped her eyes and held up the folder. "We got your message. And we need you to use your magic to write in this. It's the only way we can communicate."
She walked to the table and slammed the folder in the centre. She looked up and smiled wide.
"We have a plan to save our sister, our friends, our kingdom, and stop Renaldo!"
Lilly waved her fingers and the folder sprung open to a section of blank pages. One page floated out to the table and words started appearing.
We're in. What do you need?
Riley smirked at the note before she took out the spell her mother gave her and slammed it onto the table.
"We're going to revive our sister. Then we're going to cast a power of 4 spell from two different dimensions."
Words started appearing on the paper again and Riley smiled wide. This might all just work out after all.
Sounds like fun.
