Chapter 28-
"Let's see... Where I should begin?" the red-head tapped her fingers on her cheek in a gesture of deep thought. She knew that by the end of this session, the wall she built to keep the emotions away would be tumbling down.
Yes, the read head deducted. By the end of the night, she'd be in an emotional wreck.
"Just start from wherever you feel comfortable, eh." Ezekiel said, his voice bringing her out of her thoughts.
Izzy shot him a smile and then turned to face Chris.
"Hey Chris?" she asked.
"Yeah Iz?"
"I know I'm not normal," she said putting air quotes on normal, "So in celebration of that, would you mind if I Quentin Tarantino it?"
Chris chuckled, but nodded in agreement. The point of this therapy session was to have everyone share their experiences to help them cope and take a further step in the process of healing. So who was he to deny her the right to tell her story the way she wanted to?
"As long as you tell the truth, I see no problem with that."
"Alright then," the red-head took a breath and then continued, "You see... My tale of tragedy doesn't involve evil parents and whatnot. It just involves me making inadequate decisions, because I'm an idiot."
"You're not an idiot, Izzy. Just crazy." Gwen told her.
"Thanks Gwen. But I am an idiot."
"I second that." Justin said. As soon as those words left his mouth all of the teens turned their attention toward the model. Most of them with a frown on their faces.
The model frowned. "What? I'm just being honest. She brought it up first!" He said, trying to defend himself.
"That doesn't mean that you can say that about her, regardless." Sadie quipped.
"That was so mean." Lindsay said.
"That was way out of line." D.J. added.
"I'm with them." Heather said. Justin looked at her as if she grew another head.
"Seriously?" he asked Heather, who nodded before speaking.
"What? I'm mean, not heartless." The pretty Asian said. "Whatever." The male model said.
"Anyway," the red-head said, ignoring the model's comment. "Let me first start by saying that I ended up in a juvenile detention center. I almost ended up in prison, doing hard time..."
"Why did you go to juvie for?" Sierra asked.
And that was it. The dam burst and the red-head let out a choked sob, before the tears started flowing out. The teens bit their lips. They didn't know what to do or say, because never in the time that they've known Izzy, have ever seen her cry. It was a rather heartbreaking sight.
Izzy wiped her tears with the sleeves of her sweater, managing to smile as she remembered it was Duncan's. He had given it to her the day they had gone out on their actual first date.
"I'm sorry." she croaked.
"Don't be sorry Iz. It's natural to cry." Eva told her friend.
Justin and Heather turned to the fitness buff, which in turn rolled her eyes.
"What? I cry. Not often, mind you, but I have done so."
"Thanks Eva," the red-head said, "Before I can answer that, I have to start from the beginning. I meet Jason during my freshman year. I was lost, so I didn't know my way around... So due to not knowing my way around the school, I skipped the whole day. So around 6th period, I was running away from the dean, and I hid in the broiler room. That was where Jason was, cutting class, smoking a blunt almost on a daily basis."
"Was he the same age as you?"
"No. He was a senior."
"Wow."
"But he was a 'super' senior. He got held back in his senior year. so he was 18 at the time."
"And you were 14?" Sadie asked.
"15. I started school late, because my birthday's in January."
"Oh."
"So I could say that he was my first real friend that I made."
"Seems normal enough, so far." Bridgette said.
"Yeah. There was also Kimberly. She was his girlfriend, whom I didn't meet until the following week."
"Why? She was cutting school?" The queen bee asked.
"She had to find arrangements for a babysitter for her son, so she missed the first week of school, until she found one." Izzy explained.
"She had a baby?"
"Yeah. From a previous boyfriend. Jason was helping her out, even though they were in an open relationship." The red-head explained. "Not only that, they were involved in drug dealings and such."
Gwen looked at Izzy, having guessed what her story was about.
"No, Izzy, you didn't."
"Oh, but I did, my deliciously hot gothic friend."
"What? What are you talking about?" Alejandro asked.
"You see... I eventually ended up dating Jason.
Izzy walked through the empty halls of May view Technical High School. It was 6th period, and the red head decided to ditch it, since she noticed that her Global History teacher was absent. And because of this, she thought it'd be fun to cut class, not that it mattered much. And she wanted to see what Jason was up to, and hang out with him, along with Kimberly.
Pushing the door open, she ran down the stairs, which lead to the basement. Once she reached the basement, she walked down the narrow hall, then turned right and stopped in front of the boiler room door. Glancing behind her to make sure that security or teachers weren't following, she thankfully saw that there wasn't.
She then proceeded to open the door, and walking inside.
Jason was there, leaning against the wall in a sitting position. The sound of a closing door had caught his attention as he looked up. He smiled when he saw it was the red-head.
"Hey, Izzy."
"Hey, Jay. How's it going?"
"Great. So what brings you here?"
"Uh… I came by to hang out with you..." she answered, giving him a cheeky grin.
"Good answer," the older teen told her, "You cutting class?"
"Technically, yes. But it doesn't really count, because Mr. Rivers is absent."
With that, she tossed her book bag across from her on the floor, and sat down next to Jason.
He pulled out what looked like a cigarette from his pocket from his plaid collar shirt, and offered her one.
"No thanks. I don't smoke." Izzy declined.
Shrugging, Jason put it into his mouth, looking for his lighter, "Your loss, kiddo." He said, once locating the lighter, and lit it.
"So you cut class?"
"Well…yes. But it really didn't count."
"Uh-huh…sure it didn't." Heather said.
"It really didn't," Izzy insisted, heaving out an exasperated sigh.
"Relax Iz, Heather's just being Heather." Eva told her friend. "Just keep going."
"Sure thing there, mates."
"Say, was Kimberly there with you that day, because you haven't mentioned her, eh." Ezekiel inquired.
"Aw, Zekey! You spoke! I love it when you talk. It's so sexy." Izzy said as the home-schooled teens face turned red in embarrassment, "But to answer your question, Kim wasn't there that day."
"Was the cigarette he offered actually cigarette? Or something else?"
"Nope. It was weed."
"Did you smoke it?"
"No."
"Good girl."
"I'm not a dog, Alejandro, besides," the red-head added, "I'm crazy not stupid."
"Touché." The Latino said.
"Seems like a normal thing to do."
"Yeah… but you see, I ended up cutting the rest of the day. Jason wanted me to keep him company, and well... he was paying attention to me. I felt good about myself, so I caved in and stayed."
"So when is it going to build up and get to the sad parts?" Sadie asked.
"Soon...Because you see, as the rest of the school year progressed... Jason, along with Kimberly and me got close. Very close, if you catch my drift. And somehow, I ended up in some complicated love square."
"So," D.J. spoke, you ended up dating both of them?"
"No, I started dating Jason. But he was technically in a relationship with Kim at the same time."
"Did she mind?"
"Remember, they were in an open relationship. And she didn't really care too much."
"Oh."
"And why would you say yes? I mean, he was older than you by a long shot."
"My life at home was practically falling apart. All we did was argue. And granted, at that time, my brother tried to commit suicide, so all of the attention was on him. I knew that it was right, but I still felt forgotten and neglected. Almost invisible. Jason's friendship made me feel like I was important... like I mattered."
"So it was cool with Kim?"
"Yes. Besides, she got pregnant again, so she really couldn't do much for him. That's where I fit in. That's why he wanted me... To take her place, and use me for whatever he wanted, if you catch my drift."
"Gosh, that is sick."
"And I didn't realize it then."
"Wait you said you were in a love square."
"I did."
"Please elaborate."
"Well, let's just say that the relationship chanced when I meet Jason's younger brother, Riley."
"Who?"
"Well let's just say that by January, when the new semester was starting, things took a turn for the worst, it was when Jason finally invited me over to his house." Izzy explained, ignoring Justin's question.
