Chapter 28:
"I love you." Caroline whispered as she looked away, tears flooding down her cheeks, not able to watch. She was fighting the compulsion with everything she had but it was of no use, Klaus would die by her hands tonight. She could not control it, the compulsion was stronger than her.
Everything was silent when Caroline took a deep breath and forcefully brought the stake down. The sound of it breaking skin, breaking flesh, was heard, the smell of yet another blood that was spilled tonight reached all of their nostrils.
And all of that was accompanied with a loud gasp, a gasp of agony, a gasp of horror.
Klaus looked up into Caroline's eyes, her beautiful eyes, filled with pain, tears running down her soft cheeks. Those cheeks he loved to kiss tenderly, those rosy cheeks, her small nose, he loved the way her nose would curl up every time she would laugh, her pink lips, parted in pain as she gasped and tried to catch her breath.
He came back to reality and he didn't feel anything, he didn't feel any sort of pain. He looked at his chest, but there was no stake. He looked back up at Caroline as realization hit him. She staked herself in the stomach, she fought the compulsion and the only solution she found not to kill him was to plunge the stake into her stomach.
He watched as she fell on the floor on her side, letting go of the stake still inside of her. Why wasn't she taking it out? Surely because it was White Oak and the stake was affecting her too much. Mikael appeared next to Caroline in a flash, and pulled the stake out of her before pulling on her shoulder so she was lying on her back . He lift the stake over her chest as Caroline kept her hands on her bloodied stomach.
In a second Klaus shoved all of the vampires holding him down away and jumped on Mikael. They rolled on the floor a few times before they stopped with Klaus on top of Mikael. Klaus started to send punches into Mikael's jaw and the stake fell out of his grip on the floor.
Caroline clutched her wound, it was healing slowly and painfully. She looked around her, moaning in pain as she sat up. She noticed Katherine on the floor not too far away from her with a branch in her back that she couldn't reach.
"Katherine." She called and Katherine turned toward her.
"I'm alright." Katherine said moaning in pain.
"I can see that." Caroline said before growling.
"You are no better." Katherine pointed out.
A loud growl was heard and Caroline turned toward it recognizing Klaus. Her eyes widened in horror at the view. Mikael was on top of Klaus with the White Oak stake in his hands, just above Klaus' heart and Klaus was trying as best as he could to hold it away from his chest.
Caroline forgot all of her pain in that moment, she forgot everything, she could only see Klaus and Mikael, everything else was fading away. She felt her features changing, her fangs appeared in her mouth, her eyes became red and veins pulsed under those said eyes. In a flash she was standing next to Mikael, taking him by surprise. She grabbed the stake that was only inches from Klaus' chest and turned it around abruptly before plunging it in Mikael's chest.
Mikael gasped and fell to the floor before turning gray and burning. Caroline's features became normal again but her breathing became erratic. She felt something surge through her. She felt power, so much power taking over her. The blood that was everywhere around her smelled even better than it did minutes ago, vampire blood.
She turned toward Katherine who was bleeding and she couldn't breathe anymore. It was all too much for her and she had no idea what was happening. She saw in the corner of her eyes Klaus approaching her slowly and cautiously and her head snapped toward him before she started running off in the woods.
Klaus looked at Caroline mesmerized at first, she was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen and even more so with her vampire features on. Once Mikael was dead her demeanor changed though and he was now looking at her cautiously and worried. She seemed lost and overwhelmed. He saw her look at Katherine...hungrily it seemed before her head snapped abruptly toward him and she took off at vampire speed. Klaus quickly ran after her.
"Oh yeah, go ahead." Katherine yelled, "I don't mind having a branch stuck in my back near my heart."
Klaus ran through the trees following her golden locks. He frowned. She was fast, faster than a baby vampire. She wasn't far from being as fast as he was, but he was still faster and he slowly but surely caught up with her. He could tell that the sun would soon come out and he needed to bring her home before then because she would burn in the sun.
"Caroline." He screamed but she didn't stop.
He eventually caught up to her entirely and grabbed her, making them both crash on the floor forcefully because of the speed they had been running at. Klaus tried to protect her as they landed on the floor but he heard one of her bones snap and he cursed under his breath.
"Ahhh..." Caroline groaned once they were both on the floor. She brought her arm up to see that her bone was broken and was coming out of her arm, it looked gross. Without even warning her Klaus grabbed her arm and snapped her bone back into its place forcefully, allowing it to heal. Caroline screamed in pain and surprise but before she knew it, she was in Klaus' arms , his lips on hers, kissing her with such force. She enveloped her arms around his neck and kissed him back climbing on top of him and straddling him.
The strange feeling from earlier was gone, it had felt good to run and now she was feeling normal again, well, as normal as someone could feel after being turned into a vampire. After a few minutes Klaus broke the kiss and looked into her eyes lovingly, bringing his hands to her face, touching it with the tip of his fingers.
"You are alive." He whispered, "I thought I had lost you, forever." It was like he was alive again, his heart was back and in his arms. He would never let her go again, he would never allow for her to be apart from him again.
"I hate you." Caroline stated as her eyes filled with tears and she looked down, damn those heightened feelings, "I'm sorry, I don't want to cry, I just, my feelings are..." She tried to explain and Klaus hushed her silently.
"I know. Is it why you ran away? Because you hate me?" Klaus wondered.
"I..." Caroline started but Klaus cut her off not even allowing her to explain about the strange feeling.
"What were you expecting?" He asked, "I know you wanted me to fight back but if I would have, you would have been dead." Klaus raised his voice slightly and regretted it as soon as he saw Caroline's face change into anger, he had forgotten how much a baby vampire's feelings where heightened, even more so than for older ones.
"You were going to let me kill you." She yelled pushing his shoulders forcefully, gosh she was strong, it hurt, "You were ready to die for me. You would have chosen my life over yours." They both stood up and Caroline pushed his shoulders once more forcing him to take a step back, "You would have died for me." And she pushed his shoulders even harder and he took some steps back but he didn't say anything, "You would die for me." She repeated but she was not yelling this time, it was as if she was saying it to herself.
And in a flash Klaus was on the floor with Caroline on top of him kissing him for dear's life. He didn't know if he would ever get used to it but for now he was not complaining. He kissed her back and brought his hands around her waist rolling them over so he was on top of her and she wrapped her legs around his waist. Klaus lowered his head and started to kiss her jaw and neck with open mouthed kisses and Caroline moaned, his touches were so much more intense than before, as a human.
"Don't ever make me feel like this again." Caroline whispered and Klaus looked up, "I can't live without you, Klaus, and it scares me. I thought I would kill you." Klaus didn't say anything and kissed her lips tenderly and she knew why he didn't say anything, his words resonated in her head 'I give my life for yours and I would do it again a hundred times.'.
She decided to ignore it for now and kissed him back. She had almost forgotten how sweet his lips tasted. She smiled when he moved his hips and she felt his manhood press against her core, someone was excited.
"I see you are happy to see me." Caroline said giggling and Klaus moaned.
"I'm always happy to see you, love." He said pushing his hips against her once more and Caroline moaned. But her moan soon turned into a loud scream as the sun entered in contact with her skin.
Klaus looked up horrified to see Caroline in pain and her skin burning. He grabbed her and vamp sped behind a big tree were the sun couldn't touch her. Caroline's skin quickly healed and she looked up at him panicked.
"Am I going to die?" She asked terrified.
"No, you are not going to die." Klaus said curtly.
"But we can't go home with the sun and at some point in the day this tree won't protect me anymore." Caroline explained and Klaus growled under his breath.
"I thought you would have understood by now that I won't let anything take you away from me, not even death." Klaus said seriously looking into her eyes, "Give me your hood."
"I think I need it more than you do, Klaus." Caroline pointed out.
"No, actually I do. You will put my daylight ring on and we are going to run home as fast as we can. The sun burns me and it hurts like hell but it can't kill me." Klaus explained.
"I don't want you to suffer for me." Caroline said but before she knew it he had her hood on and she had his ring on her finger, "Well, Lord Mikaelson, are you asking for my hand?" Caroline asked giggling looking at the ring that he had put on the finger destined to wedding rings or proposal rings.
"Do you really think it's time for a joke?" Klaus asked rather harshly and Caroline lost her smile.
"I'm sorry, you are right. Besides, you already made it clear that marrying me was not in your plans." Caroline said disappointed looking down.
"That's not what I meant and you know it." Klaus said under his breath passing his hand through his hair in frustration, his other hand resting on his pocket where he still had the ring. Of course Caroline noticed it.
"What's in your pocket?" She asked curious.
"It's not the time to talk about it." Klaus said and soon changed the subject, "When we will arrive home I want you to stay close to me, it will be difficult for you to stay in control with so many humans and you might lost control." He explained not mentioning the fact that the smell of blood would be overwhelming for her with all the people he had killed.
"I think I'm not too bad with control." Caroline pointed out with a proud voice, "I compelled a girl all alone." She added with a beaming smile.
"That you did, the poor girl was completely lost, you quite messed with her mind." Klaus said chuckling and Caroline's smile faded away.
"I did not mess with her mind." Caroline said with a little pout.
"Not on purpose I'm sure." Klaus agreed, "It's just because you are young, you are a baby vampire." Klaus explained, "A really fast one." He added frowning but it went away when she spoke.
"Don't call me that, please. It sounds like I'm a baby." Caroline complained and Klaus approached her enveloping her waist with his strong arms.
"You are my baby vampire." He whispered before kissing her lips tenderly. After a few minutes he broke the kiss placing a little peck on her right cheek as she smiled, "Let's go now. Follow my lead and I warn you, I will be fast."
"If you know I am slower than don't go too fast." Caroline frowned.
"I don't think I will be thinking about waiting for you when my skin will be burning, sweetheart." Klaus pointed out.
Caroline nodded, "Right, I'll run as fast as I can. If I don't see you anymore I'll follow your scent."
"Alright, I count to three and I start to run." Klaus warned and Caroline nodded as Klaus put the hood over his head, "One, two...three." And with that he vamp sped away and Caroline followed.
As Caroline ran after Klaus she started to smell his blood because of the burns and it smelled delicious. She started to run faster, she wanted to taste it so badly. She felt her face shift but it didn't feel like it had the times her face had changed before. She felt this surge of power going through her body once more and she ran even faster. Her sight was even clearer than before, her sense of smell was heightened, her movements were clearer, she was faster, she felt stronger, and it was all so much more than before, it was not just her being a vampire, there was so much more, and everything she wanted was to kill the prey she was following and slowly catching up to. A low growl escaped her lips.
She jumped into a tree landing forcefully on a branch before pushing hard on her legs and landing once more on the floor even closer to Klaus. Klaus seemed to notice that something was wrong because he started to run even faster. Caroline's temples were throbbing painfully, she needed to kill her prey, and even though she was running on her legs, there was almost nothing human about the way she was moving anymore.
Soon enough they reached the castle and Klaus stepped into the shadow and his skin healed in a few seconds. As soon as he was healed Caroline snapped back to reality and stopped running the way she had been running. She felt her face turn back to normal and her breathing became normal again. She looked around her lost and stopped running to walk instead. She didn't want to face Klaus about what just happened, she didn't feel like telling him that the only thought that had been consuming her mind had been to rip his throat open and kill him, ripping his heart out. No, she definitely didn't want to tell him that. She didn't want to talk to him about the fact that she had been about to catch up with him even though he was an original, she didn't want to talk about the fact that she had felt like a wild animal chasing a prey.
She eventually reached him and he looked at her with a smile on his lips and kissed her just before taking the hood down and letting it fall on the floor dismissively. He extended his hand toward Caroline and she looked at him confused, why wasn't he saying something about what just happened?
"Klaus..." Caroline started but he cut her off.
"I know I went faster at the end but it was painful." Klaus admitted and Caroline frowned, he hadn't noticed her. He hadn't noticed the way she had jumped on a tree just to jump from it and land closer to him. She must have been quieter than she had thought and she supposed that the fact that his skin had been burning had helped in the fact that he hadn't noticed it, and the fact that he hadn't been careful about being followed since he knew she was following him.
Caroline nodded and took his ring off before giving it back to him. Klaus smiled once more and kissed her lips tenderly before turning toward the door and opening it. He turned toward Caroline once more with a beaming smile.
"Welcome home, Caroline." He said stepping to the side to let her go inside first. Caroline decided that she would act normal so she smiled as genuinely as she could.
"I was gone for a day." Caroline pointed out.
Klaus looked down as a dark shadow crossed his eyes, "You were dead." He said with a dark voice.
Caroline approached him and cupped his face between her small hands brushing his cheeks with her thumbs as he looked back up into her eyes.
"I'm alive, look at me." Caroline said reassuringly.
"He drowned you, he killed you just in front of me, he killed you." Klaus stated coldly.
"And I had vampire blood in my system, and I turned." Caroline continued for him.
"Thanks to Katherine. Not thanks to me. I wasn't able to protect you. You don't understand." He snapped as his eyes filled with tears and he pushed her hands away. She had never seen him have a mood swing like this one before. He had always been lunatic but still.
"But I'm alright now." Caroline assured even though it was not entirely true.
"But you were dead, I held your dead body in my arms, Caroline. I thought you were gone forever." He yelled.
"Stop yelling." Caroline yelled back, "It was not my fault, I died and it was not my fault." Tears began to pour down Caroline's cheeks and a sob left her lips hearing the pain in his words and voice, "I didn't want you to suffer like this."
Klaus took her in his arms closing his eyes trying to calm down, "Of course it's not your fault. I don't blame you, I blame myself. I shouldn't have fallen asleep, I..." He started but Caroline cut him off.
"It was none of your fault. It's not your fault if your father hates you, it's not your fault if he killed me." Caroline said hugging him back.
"Maybe it's my fault." Klaus whispered, "I am despised by everyone and it will cost your death once and for all someday."
"You are not despised by everyone. I love you, always and forever." Caroline declared butterfly kissing his face and eventually a small smile appeared on his lips and Caroline smiled as well.
"Well, I see you completely forgot about me." They both heard Katherine, and they turned toward the front door to see that everyone was there. Caroline turned toward Katherine with an apologetic smile and took a step away from Klaus, "Don't worry, They found me and helped me." She added pointing toward the others.
"We found father's body as well, at least what was left of it. I assume Niklaus..." Elijah started but Caroline cut him off.
"I killed Mikael." She said seriously and Elijah nodded understanding.
"How do you feel, Caroline?" Rebekah asked taking a step forward.
Caroline smiled, "I feel different." She stated before walking toward Rebekah and taking her in her arms. Rebekah smiled and hugged Caroline back.
"I thought I had lost a sister." She whispered a tear rolling down her cheek.
"You say that as if you have several sisters." Katherine said with a scoff.
"I do. I have three sisters. My brothers are in love." Rebekah explained and Katherine didn't say anything, taken aback, Rebekah considered her a sister? Well, she could have a sister she cared about less than the others, right?
Caroline turned toward Katherine and threw herself on her hugging her hard. She was so glad to see her again. And let's not forget that she saved her life. Katherine hugged her back as a smile appeared on her lips as well. Katherine still had the same dress from earlier and Caroline stilled instantly as the smell of her blood on her back hit her nose. She inspired deeply and felt her face shift like earlier. Her sense of smell, her vision, her strength, her ability, everything. Katherine wasn't her friend anymore, Katherine was her prey, like they all were around her. Her temples throbbed painfully.
"Caroline?" Katherine called as Caroline's grip on her tightened. A loud growl coming from deep inside of her throat left her lips and Katherine felt the power emanating from Caroline and she started to stiffen, something was wrong.
Caroline grabbed Katherine's hair forcefully and tilted her head to the side so forcefully that her neck almost snapped. She sank her fangs into her neck forcefully which earned a scream of pain from Katherine. Katherine tried to push Caroline away but she was surprisingly strong.
"Caroline." Klaus called but Caroline didn't stop and Katherine started to weaken which was obvious for all of them seeing as her arms dropped to her sides. No one knew what to do and at everyone's surprise the first person to do something was Kol. He pushed Caroline away so forcefully that she let go of Katherine who dropped to the floor as Elijah ran to her. Caroline hit the wall of the castle but in a second she was up and turned toward them and they all looked at her with wide eyes.
Caroline had blood dripping down her chin, small fangs showed because her lips were curled up in a menacing way. But she didn't have veins pulsing under her eyes, no, instead she had what looked like tattoos starting at the corner of her eyes and sprawling on her temples in a beautiful and artistic way. Her tattoos were black and it looked like it connected with the black of her eyes. Instead of having red eyes she had black ones, all black, not a trace of her usual blue eyes, no iris, no white, it was just all black.
Suddenly, at everyone's surprise, Caroline jumped on Rebekah and sank her fangs into her neck as well, starting to drink her oh so delectable blood. Maybe it was because she was an original but her blood had something special.
"It hurts, I can't push her away." Rebekah screamed terrified, she had never been the victim of a vampire attack before, not ever, "Get her away from me." Rebekah begged moving in Caroline's grip.
Caroline was abruptly ripped away from Rebekah and thrown away. Caroline snapped back to reality when the sun hit her skin and began to burn her. She screamed out in pain as her face shifted back to normal. Kol had been the one pushing her away once more. Klaus ran to Caroline and took her in his arms flashing inside the castle eventually moving from his spot. He had been paralyzed, unable to move an inch. He knew what it was, it was her blood hunter side, it must have been activated when she killed Mikael.
Rebekah brought her hand to her wounded neck and frowned.
"It's not healing." She exclaimed, "It's not healing and it hurts."
"Calm down Rebekah." Elijah said calmly standing up taking Katherine up with him as she put all of her weight on him to stay up, "Katerina is not healing as well, we are going to ask Bonnie if she knows why." He explained.
"How can you stay so calm?" Rebekah yelled panicked, "What if we are humans again?"
"Do you feel human?" Elijah asked exasperated, "Because you definitely don't smell like a human."
"Elijah is right, your blood smells like vampire blood." Kol commented.
"But my wound is not healing and I keep bleeding." Rebekah continued.
"What happened here?" Bonnie asked as she arrived alerted by the noise.
"Bonnie! I have never been so happy to see you." Rebekah said dramatically as she became a little dizzy from the loss of blood, "It's Caroline, she attacked Katherine and I and we are not healing.
"What do you mean she attacked you? And what do you mean you are not healing?" Bonnie asked confused.
"Caroline drank their blood and now their wounds are not healing, darling." Kol explained, "Please, feel free to let Rebekah bleed to desiccation."
"I am going to kill you as soon as I feel better, Kol." Rebekah growled unsteady on her feet now. Kol approached her and held her still at her surprise. He could say as many things as he wanted to annoy Rebekah she still was his sister and he loved her.
"Did she kill a vampire once turned?" Bonnie asked.
"Yes, she killed Mikael. I think we should continue this conversation inside Bonnie." Elijah said walking inside with Katherine. They all walked toward Rebekah's bedroom and entered it to lay both women down on the bed.
"Hey, no! Katherine is going to put blood on my sheets." Rebekah complained but everyone ignored her.
"Caroline must have activated her blood hunter's curse when she killed Mikael and it must be even stronger because he was an original and it also killed all of the vampires he ever turned. The pull to kill vampires must be unbearable for her." Bonnie commented.
"Can you please tell us something we haven't guessed on our own." Elijah said a little curtly seeing Katherine continue to weaken because of the loss of blood.
"Be careful how you talk to her, 'Lijah." Kol said harshly looking angrily at his brother.
"I think it must be some venom." Bonnie continued.
"What?" Rebekah asked confused.
"I think you are not healing because she has a venom that keeps the healing at human speed." Bonnie explained, "I think you should drink human blood to see if it helps with the healing process and if it doesn't you should try with vampire blood. If it doesn't work I will have to take care of you as if you were humans."
"Bring me a human." Rebekah exclaimed but Elijah was already out of the room searching for one, "And we have to go see Nik and Caroline, we can't leave Nik alone with her, she is going to attack him."
"Nik is strong, Bekah." Kol said nonchalantly.
"She is strong as well, Kol. I couldn't push her away for god's sake." Rebekah yelled, "I am a freaking original."
"Nik is a hybrid, he is stronger than us and I managed to push her away from Katherine and then from you." Kol continued.
"She was not careful, she only cared about her prey. Now Nik is her prey." Rebekah explained, "And even if by chance he is stronger than her even when her hunter side comes out, he won't hurt her but she will hurt him without hesitation."
"She loves Nik." Kol said as if it could reassure Rebekah.
"Her human side does, her vampire side does, her hunter side will want nothing more than to see him dead and I seriously doubt that her human side or her vampire side are stronger than her hunter one. And I also hope she will not turn her humanity off out of guilt because her humanity is the only thing that will keep her sane and keep her from becoming our worst enemy, the one we have to kill in order to survive." Rebekah exclaimed seriously looking Kol's expression change from a nonchalant one to a panicked one.
Elijah came back with the blood and Kol left the room, he had to see how Caroline and Klaus were.
Klaus brought Caroline in their bedroom at vampire speed. Once they were inside he let go of her and closed the door behind him before turning back toward Caroline to see her in a corner of the room with her back turned on him facing the wall. She brought her arms and hands to her lips and started to rub her lips forcefully and frantically to take all of the blood away.
Caroline felt horrible. She was a monster, she had attacked her own friends, her own sisters. She didn't even know how they were right now, all she knew was that she had wanted them dead, the same way she had wanted Klaus dead earlier running after him in the woods. She could feel the warm blood still dripping down her chin and she started to rub her lips and chin with her hands and sleeves, she needed to clean her face, she couldn't bear the thought of blood on her face.
"Caroline?" Klaus called from behind her and she only then remembered that he was in the room with her.
"I have to clean the blood, I have blood everywhere." Caroline said with a trembling voice and she turned toward the bathroom and walked inside of it quickly.
Klaus followed her and when he entered the bathroom she was already rubbing her face with a wet rag. She stopped after a few minutes and looked at her reflection in the mirror. Klaus looked at her intently as she started to rub her face with the rag once more even though she didn't have blood on her face anymore.
"Caroline stop." Klaus said calmly but she didn't stop putting the rag away and rubbing with her hands instead.
"There is blood." Caroline said her eyes filling with tears, "The blood is not going away." She continued this time starting to scratch her skin frantically with her nails. She broke skin and her own blood started to drop down her cheeks but before she knew it she was pinned against a wall forcefully and her hands were trapped above her head.
"You stop now." Klaus ordered sharply.
"But I have blood, it's not going away." Caroline exclaimed, her breathing started to become erratic as she started to panic.
"The only blood left on your face is yours." Klaus assured.
"I am a monster." Caroline said as tears started to pool in her eyes, "Can you kill me, please."
Klaus let go of her, she would have stabbed him in the stomach and it would have been the same. He went out of the bathroom not saying anything but Caroline followed him.
"You said you would never let me become this monster." She yelled as her tears dropped down her cheeks. She had to anger him, she had to push him until he would snap and kill her. She couldn't live like this, she was a monster and she wanted him to kill her.
"You are not a monster, Caroline." Klaus yelled as well looking up at her, "And I will not kill you."
"I am a monster. I attacked Katherine and Rebekah. I attacked Rebekah. I wanted to kill Rebekah, your little sister." Caroline shouted.
"Stop it." Klaus said in a whisper. He knew what she was doing, she was trying to push his buttons.
"I wanted to kill you too, in the woods, I smelled your blood and I chased after you. There was nothing human about the way I was moving, I was faster than you, I was catching up to you, the only thought consuming my mind was to kill you, to sank my fangs in your throat, feel your blood dripping down mine, have my hand inside your chest and feel your heart in the grip of my hand, hear you beg, say that you love me hoping that I would come back to reality. But there is no reality to come back to, this is my new reality, I want to kill you so badly that it hurts to stand in the same room as you." Caroline said with a cold voice.
"You don't mean it." Klaus said taken aback.
"I mean every word that I say. I want to kill you and your family and I have the power to." Caroline continued.
"You don't have a White Oak stake." Klaus pointed out.
"No but I can weaken you, I can put you down until I find one and finally have the pleasure to plunge it in your chest." Caroline said and with every word she could feel her hunter side coming out a little more. She had to let it come entirely out, she had to attack him, if she attacked him he would have no other choice than to kill her. But it was difficult, she couldn't just let the beast come out and attack the man she loved.
"If you think you can make me kill you you are seriously wrong." Klaus shouted angry at her for trying to make him kill her, "I love you and nothing of what you do can bring me to the level where I will kill you, nothing, do you hear me?"
Caroline's features changed, her eyes becoming as black as the sky in a dark night, beautiful tattoos that mesmerized Klaus more than anything else appeared on her temples, she had let the hunter come out. She circled Klaus slowly, menacingly, tilting her head to the side every now and then as if she was analyzing him.
"If you are waiting for me to run then you will be disappointed sweetheart, I will not run from you. Just have at it, love." Klaus said calmly tilting his head to the side exposing his neck.
As expected Caroline vamp sped toward him and sank her teeth in his neck feeling his warm blood dripping down her throat. His blood was exquisite, she would never get enough of it. Klaus let her drink and didn't even fight, even though she was not delicate at all and her bite was painful. He would not fight her, he knew her, she would come back to reality, Caroline was strong and he knew she could fight this dark side of her.
"You are stronger than this." Klaus whispered as he felt himself weakening from the loss of blood. All of a sudden Caroline was off of him as she threw herself against the opposite wall trying to put as much distance as she could between Klaus and her. Her features were back to normal but she stayed pressed against the wall.
"You should have killed me." Caroline said in a whisper, "Please get out."
"I won't get out, look Caroline, you have control, you stopped." Klaus said with a small smile appearing on his lips.
"And you are bleeding, get out." Caroline screamed and Klaus brought his hand to his neck and only then did he realize that the wound wasn't healing. He looked up at Caroline to see the expression of pain on her face, to see how hard it was for her to stay away so he slowly turned around and left the room to let her take control over herself.
He walked through the corridors and came face to face with Kol who seemed relieved to see him but it lasted only a second and then his face came back to normal, gone the worried expression.
"I see Caroline had a little bite at you too." He said amused, "Don't panic it's normal that you are not healing, Bekah and Katherine are not healing as well."
"I don't panic, Kol, not healing is the least important of my problems right now." Klaus snapped.
"Is dear Caroline lying in your room with a broken neck?" Kol asked smiling.
"Of course not." Klaus exclaimed.
Kol frowned confused, "You managed to push her away from you not having her chasing after you right now? She seems like a wild little thing to me."
"Kol, shut your big mouth before you are the one ending up with a broken neck." Klaus growled.
"No seriously, how did you manage to push her away?" Kol asked with a serious expression.
"I did not, she stopped." Klaus said before walking past Kol and going toward Rebekah's room where he knew they all were because he could hear them talk, "If I were you I wouldn't enter my bedroom Kol, Caroline is indeed wild." and with that he left.
He entered Rebekah's room to find Rebekah pouting with a bandage on her neck and Katherine looking around the room nonchalantly with a bandage as well while Bonnie and Elijah were talking together. As soon as he crossed the threshold Rebekah stood up from her bed.
"Nik, you are bleeding." She exclaimed, "Caroline attacked you? Where is she now?"
"Caroline is in my room trying to regain control over herself and yes she attacked me." Klaus explained before adding knowing that she would ask, "And no I didn't push her away she stopped on her own, I didn't even try to fight her. Now Bonnie, please, would you be so kind as to do something for my wound."
"It doesn't heal, even with blood so we have to wear ridiculous bandages as if we were humans." Rebekah informed him and he nodded understanding before approaching Bonnie.
"Be quick about it I have other things to do." He said curtly and Bonnie nodded.
"Bonnie and I thought about something." Elijah intervened as Bonnie started to take care of Klaus' wound.
"And what is this?" Klaus asked.
"We thought that maybe we could use the spell mother used on you to bond Caroline's hunter's side, that way..." Elijah explained but Klaus cut him off.
"No." He said curtly.
"I told you he would say that." Katherine said nonchalantly.
"Niklaus, you didn't even consider..." Elijah started but Klaus cut him off once more.
"I said no. There is nothing to consider, Elijah. I will teach her control." Klaus explained angrily.
"We don't even know if it's possible for her to control herself." Elijah complained.
"Don't push the issue Elijah. The answer is no. I won't allow for her to live the way I lived for centuries." Klaus exclaimed just as Bonnie finished her bandage on his neck and walked to the side.
"It's not the same, your werewolf side was not as dangerous as her hunter side." Elijah insisted.
"I said I will not allow for her to live the way I lived for centuries. Do you know how it feels like to have a part of you bond? You feel like something is missing, all the time, a part of you is missing, you feel dead, empty, you feel the loss of it." Klaus explained.
"It was that way for you because you were born a werewolf." Elijah commented.
"And Caroline was born a blood hunter, and just like me she activated her curse with her first kill after becoming a vampire, just like me she became a vampire because of Mikael, but something will be different for her, I will not allow her to live in misery the way I did, I will not let Bonnie play mother's part in my story for her and bond a side of her, I hope I am clear because if one of you tries to go against my will in this decision, even if Caroline asks for it, I will kill you." Klaus snapped.
"Even if Caroline asks for it? Seriously? I thought you understood last time you did something against her will that it was not a good idea." Katherine exclaimed.
"The thing, Katherine, is that Caroline will want you to bond her hunter's side if you put the idea in her head, she will want it so badly. But once it will be done, she will feel empty, she will be unhappy, she will feel dead and she will want to break the curse, but in order to break the curse she will have to kill innocents just like I had to, I suppose you remember that part Katherine? Don't you?" Klaus said coldly and Katherine looked down, Klaus had a point and a really good one might she add.
"We will not bond Caroline's hunter's side. End of the discussion." Klaus said sternly looking at everyone pointedly.
