Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon, if I did Ash would keep all his experience from region to region, instead of resetting every season.
A/N: Hi Loyal readers, for those who follow my stories you will have read my author note on my Harry Potter ones. The reason updates have taken forever, is I don't have that much free time anymore, due to recently finding a job. So all my efforts are concentrating on that at the minute. I hope this chapter will tie you over for a little bit.
Ecruteak City
Ash and the girls had finally arrived in Ecruteak City. The place was nothing like Ash expected. All the buildings were very traditional and many represented the time of ancient Japan. There wasn't one sky scraper in site, unless of course you counted the two towers that stood watching over the small city. The nearest tower showed clear indications of being destroyed by a fire and according to the guide was known as Burnt Tower. The tower behind the burnt one was much taller and according to the guide was called Bell Tower.
"Hey guys listen to this. Burnt Tower once known as Brass Tower, was destroyed nearly 150 years ago, after it was hit by lightning and caught fire. The Tower was said to be home to the legendary Pokemon known as Lugia and the Bell Tower was home to the legendary Pokemon HO-Oh. It says after the tower was burnt down Lugia fled the tower while Ho-Oh remained. According to legend three mysterious Pokemon also lived within Burnt Tower and perished in the fire. Ho-Oh feeling sorry for the three Pokemon revived them using its sacred Ash. The three Pokemon were known as Suicune, Raikou, and Entei, and were soon given the title of the three Legendary dog Pokemon of Johto. It is said that after the incident Ho-Oh fled Bell Tower and will only return when a human of pure heart present a Rainbow feather at the very top of the Tower."
Sabrina and Cynthia looked towards the tower, so that was where Suicune, Raikou and Entei had come from. The three trainers decided to investigate the towers further, but decided first they needed to check into the Pokemon Centre. Ash looked at the map on his screen and found the Pokemon centre. "Its not far from here, come on, sooner we get checked in, the sooner we can find the Gym."
Just as the three trainers were about to enter the Pokemon centre, they were stopped by a man dressed up as a clown, in his hand he held a club which was on fire. Cynthia didn't like clowns very much and hid behind Ash. The three trainers watched as the man did trick and other clown stuff.
"Hey folks, got a once in a life time offer, you see I am selling treasure Detector, this little babies can find buried treasure quick and fast. Ecruteak is full of buried treasure, and one can be yours for only $200 poke dollar, what do you say."
Ash frowned at the clown and then politely turned away from him. "Sorry, were not treasure hunters, we are here to battle the city gym leader and then we will be leaving the city for our next destinations." Ash and the girls pushed through the doors of the Pokemon centre, the clown tried to stop them, but was soon prevented from entering by Officer Jenny.
"Infernando! How many times do we have to tell you, not to bother the guest of the Pokemon Centre, you're already on your last warning, don't make me drag you down the station for your final strike." The clown eyes widened and he quickly ran down the road away from the Pokemon centre. Officer Jenny turned to the three trainers. "I apologise for one of our locals behaviour, every tourist he see, he tries to sell them his treasure detector. My name officer Jenny, and I welcome you to Ecruteak City.
Ash and the girls politely bowed. "Thank you Officer Jenny, my name is Ash Ketchum and this is Sabrina and Cynthia, were all travelling together over Johto to try earn gym badges so that we can enter the silver conference. We decided to stop and heal our Pokemon, before heading to the Gym. Would you mind telling us where the Gym is?"
Officer Jenny smiled. "Certainly Ash, the gym is located near the ruins of the Burnt Tower. You walk out of the Pokemon centre and turn right, and carry on walking till the end of the street, you can't miss it. Now if you excuse me I have to get back to the Station." Officer Jenny left the Pokemon centre leaving Ash and the girls to make their way towards the front counter, where Nurse joy was busy with another trainer and their Pokemon. Ash could overhear most of the conversation.
"So you say you encountered several ghost Pokemon and they did this to your Pokemon."
The young trainer nodded. "Yes, I was heading to the Gym, when out of nowhere we were attacked by Haunter and Ghastly, they did a real number on my Pokemon. Please Nurse Joy, can you help them?"
"They should be all fine after a nice look rest, why don't you book in for the night and then you can collect your Pokemon in the morning."
Ash noticed the young boy agreed and after being booked in left the reception area to find his room. Ash and the girls were next and were soon presenting Nurse Joy with all their Pokemon. Of course Ash did mention several were unusual and asked for Nurse Joy confidence in the matter.
"Excuse me Nurse Joy, but I couldn't help overhear, did the trainer say he encountered Ghost Pokemon at the burnt tower?"
Nurse Joy nodded. "Yes Burnt tower is particular popular for ghost Pokemon, mainly because of Morty and his love for them. Morty is our city gym leader, his gym is located right near the old tower."
Ash nodded, so that confirmed it, Morty was the Gym leader and he used Ghost Pokemon. Ash and Cynthia could now formulate a strategy to try beat the gym leader.
Later That Afternoon
With their Pokemon all checked out, Ash and the girls decided to head towards the gym, as Ash was itching for a battle. It wasn't long before the found the Burnt tower and could see the small gym beside it. The three trainers had just reached the Gym, when they saw the sign on the door.
Gym closed for the day, Please come back tomorrow, when I will be more than happy to accept your challenge.
Morty.
Ash groaned in frustration, he then felt his sleeve tugged by Cynthia. "Seeing how the gym is closed today, maybe we can investigate the Towers, I really want to know more about what happened."
Ash lead the girls to into the tower, however soon as they walked through the door they got a uneasy feeling, the three trainers could hear the voice of someone coming from down one of the ruined corridors.
"Haunter, Gengar I want to know why you are attacking trainers, and why won't you listen to me."
Ash and the girls followed the voice and soon found themselves looking at a boy in his late teens, he was wearing blue shorts and he had a purple t-shirt on. The boy had their back to them and in front of him was a Haunter and Gengar floating in front of him.
"Excuse me, but are those ghost Pokemon yours?" The boy turned around and his eyes widened at being presented with an audience.
"Yes, my name is Morty and I am the Ecruteak Gym leader, unfortunately my two ghost Pokemon won't listen to me, and have started attacking trainers who come close to the tower and the gym." Morty suddenly stopped talking as both Gengar and Haunter began to circle the boy at the front of the group. He was shocked to see that the boy was having a conversation with his Pokemon.
Ash was busy listening to the two ghost Pokemon, it seems the reason they were attacking trainers was to keep them away from someone who was waiting to meet him, and they had been ordered to attack any one that thought a threat until the chosen arrived.
"I see, hmm Morty, I know its hard to explain, but the reason these two have been attacking trainers is because they have been ordered too, by a Legendary Pokemon, who is in this tower and has been waiting for me."
Morty blinked in surprise. "Sorry, but are you saying that you can talk to my two Pokemon?
Ash scratched the back of his head nervously. "Yes, you see one of my Pokemon bestowed on me a special gift, which allows me to communicate with Pokemon. These two want to show me something." Just as Ash had finished talking one of the walls slid away revealing a passage way. There was a loud voice that echoed through the now revealed passage way.
"Finally, his highness chosen as arrived. Thank you Gengar and Haunter you have been most loyal. Please lead our guest in, your trainers is also welcome to join us."
Morty just stood wide eyed as both his Pokemon floated towards the staircase leading downwards. He watched as the three new comers had moved to follow them. just what was going on? and who had been that talking? Could it really be a legendary Pokemon? Morty decided questions could be asked later. Morty followed the newcomers down the staircase, until the reached the bottom which opened up into a huge chamber. Morty couldn't believe what he was seeing, there laid down was the Legendary Pokemon Entei and beside it a much smaller Entei. Morty pinched himself just to make sure he wasn't dreaming.
"That's impossible, the three Legendary dog Pokemon haven't been seen for years, and here before me is the Legendary Entei." Morty turned to the boy and just stared in disbelieve. "Just who are you?" Morty was silenced by Entei talking.
"His name is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, he is the Indigo League Champion and Orange League Champion, he is also Lord Arceus chosen one, and has a great destiny laid out before him, that will effect the lives of humans and Pokemon alike. My duties was to allow my son to join his ever growing family, however due to my status as a Legendary Pokemon, I couldn't allow just any trainer to find me and my son. I asked your Pokemon Gengar and Haunter to ward off any threat, except the chosen one, and now he stands before me. Ash Ketchum approach!"
Ash stepped forward and bowed to the Legendary Pokemon. "I am honoured to be in your presence Lord Entei, and swear to you like I have the other legendaries. Your son will be taken care of, and I will train him to the best of my ability so that he can reach his full potential."
Entei stood up along with his son. "Then Ash Ketchum, let the challenge begin, as you already know to earn my sons respect and trust you must defeat him in a battle. You may not use any of your legendary Pokemon. Do you accept these terms?"
Ash nodded and removed a ball from his belt. "I choose you Gengar!" The ball opened up to show Gengar, it shook its head a little, dazed from being inside his poke ball for so long.
"About time, thought you had forgotten me!"
Ash shook his head. "No buddy, just hard to choose from all of you, hopefully though when I win the silver conference then I will be able to carry more of you. Now heads up, you're facing Entei.
Gengar turned to face the two legendary and noticed the smaller stepped forward. Entei had made the first attack and a scorching Flamethrower was heading right for him.
Ash decided to act quickly. "Gengar dodge and then use Shadow ball, follow it up with Thunderbolt!"
Gengar formed the ghost energy between its hands and launched the attack towards Entei who jumped and dodged the attack, however Gengar then let loose a bolt of lightning that hit Entei, causing the Legendary to be lit up for a few seconds, before the shock dispersed leaving the legendary stunned."
"Good Work Gengar now use Hypnosis!" Gengar floated down in front of the dazed Entei and then used hypnotic waves to put the legendary to sleep. Entei fell to the floor snoring.
Ash twisted his cap back and then threw an ultra ball. "Poke ball go!" The ball made contact and sucked the legendary Pokemon inside, however after two shakes it snapped open and revealed Entei who had launched another flamethrower that hit Gengar. The ghost Pokemon was pushed back by the attack, however it was still able to battle.
Ash frowned. "Okay Gengar use Shadow ball!" The ghost attack was launched as Entei had used Fire blast, both attacks met in the middle and cancelled each other out.
"This puppy is tough, boss, maybe it time to bust out my new move!"
Ash nodded. "Okay buddy, use Dark pulse! and then follow it up with Shadow ball!"
Gengar charged the dark attack and sent out a pulse of darkness that hit Entei, the legendary was then hit by the follow up shadow ball causing the legendary to fall to the floor. It attempted to get up however as it did, it fell once more.
Ash enlarged another Poke ball, he had to capture it this time. "Go Poke ball!" The ball hit the legendary and sucked it inside, the ball the fell to the floor and began to shake from side to side. It shook, once, twice, a third time and then the familiar ding of a successful capture could be heard echoing around the chamber. Ash stepped forward and picked up the ball.
"It is done Ash Ketchum, my son is now part of your family. I will hold you to your word and next time we meet you will be able to prove to me just how much my son has grown in strength." Entei then turned to Morty, "What you have seen today must not be mentioned to anyone, I am guarding you with this secret seeing how your family have looked after these ruins for centuries."
Morty nodded in understanding, the group then watched as Entei ran out of the chamber and vanished from sight. Morty turned to Ash and smiled.
"So now that my Pokemon are finally listening to me, how about the Gym battle, I am interested to see just how strong you really are."
A/N: That's a wrap for this chapter, next chapter Ash and Cynthia will face Morty for the fog badge.
