A vast ocean of darkness and ice cold air, not a hint of light shone anywhere.
Qui-Gon cautiously walked down the pitch black hallway, allowing his hand to run along the cold stone wall to guide his way. He had faced situations like this plenty of times in his years as a Jedi Knight. Usually, he would wait for someone to pop out of the darkness and attack. However, with Be-Ji being known to only fight his enemies face to face, Qui-Gon wasn't expecting him to simply leap and attack, like Obi-Wan used to do before he became a Padawan. He risked a glance behind him, somewhat hoping Constella was following him. Nothing but more darkness met his gaze. He sighed, shook his head and continued forward.
The unseeing hallway seemed endless and Qui-Gon's thoughts began to wonder. Why can't Be-Ji just accept his children as the half blood's they were born as? How could he put Obi-Wan through so much agony? What keeps Constella from going mad herself? If Qui-Gon did not arrest Be-Ji, where else would the madman go? And would they be able to find him again?
Be-Ji was, commonly, known as a fierce warrior amongst the vast Jedi Knights, with a ego just as large. And a strange sense of pride in his blood line. So much so that he would dare endanger the life's of his son and daughter. Qui-Gon could only imagine how much pain and fear Obi-Wan suffered during the injection process, and then the procedure to remove whatever Be-Ji had inserted. To add, he was taken from his mother and sister at a young age, and not to simply become a Jedi Knight, but to keep him safe from Be-Ji. No wonder Obi-Wan was so angry during the academy days.
Qui-Gon remembered that Be-Ji, also, wasn't very bright. Unless the inhabitants of Earth had created a 'Frankenstein blood for dummies' manual, Be-Ji must've hired help to create such a concoction, and to proceed with such care and ease without doing much damage. Be-Ji might partake in the abduction, but he wouldn't know how to create or where to insert the serum to put his victim to sleep.
But who would help a madman?
Qui-Gon felt the tips of his fingers bump into something smooth. Carefully, his hand moved up and down the smooth spot, feeling an edge and then emptiness. Until his fingers clasped down on the smooth surface again. Qui-Gon closed his eyes, allowing his hand to draw a picture in his mind of what he was touching. The smoothness, firm, not as cold as the stone, the edges that led to either emptiness or another smooth surface.
Door way.
He stopped, placing his hand on his lightsaber and took a small step forward. For a moment, he debated about calling out 'Obi-Wan' in vain hopes that his young Padawan would just waltz out of the darkness unharmed. Then another step, listening intently to his surroundings, for any sign of Obi-Wan or Be-Ji. The air smelled musty and felt cold as he drew nearer into the room. Qui-Gon could hear a soft, hum nearby, not like a sing-song hum, something more like a fan. An orange light dimly blinking ahead of him. Qui-Gon came to a halt, listening again. He took one more step.
BANG
CRASH
Qui-Gon gasped, his foot had slammed hard and knocked something big and metallic over. He froze in place, his eyes closed tightly, gritted his teeth and held his breath as he waited for bright lights, feet running, voices shouting and overlapping each other. Anything that showed signs of life in the darkness.
A light came on, blinding Qui-Gon enough that he shielded his eyes. Despite the burning sensation, Qui-Gon forced his eyes open, seeing blurry images around him for only a moment. When his eyes adjusted, Qui-Gon noticed he was in a lab, and he stood just on the edge of a table filled with empty bottles, beaker's with a strange colored chemical inside. Directly across from him was another doorway leading to another hall. Towards the very end laid many empty syringe's with unused needles laying beside them. Qui-Gon lifted his leg and heard the same metallic clang. He looked down to see a small trash can he had kicked over, spilling out a bunch of blood stained needles.
Qui-Gon's eyes went wide, seeing the needles and tissues of blood spewed all over in front of him. A strange thud caused him to raise his head, and his gaze caught another lab table. A metal bed with retraints towards the bottom and midway. Blood drapped like fake Halloween decorations over the side of the table.
Obi-Wan's blood.
"Who goes there!?" He heard a voice shout from a distance. Qui-Gon, quickly, looked around for the source of the voice, half expecting Obi-Wan, half-expecting Be-Ji. That's when he noticed another door across from him. A tall, lanky man hastily appeared, his dark eyes wide, his breath rapid, and his shirt and pants were stained in blood. Qui-Gon activated his light saber then. He didn't need an explanation to the blood or the lab, everything seemed fairly clear. The man followed Qui-Gon's gaze down to his torso and his eyes widdened. "Whoa-hey...back off, come on."
Suddenly, the bloodied man turned and ran back down the dark hall. With his light saber in his other hand, Qui-Gon dashed after. The hall was lit with torches, smelled heavily of mildew, mold oozed out of the cracks in the walls. He noticed cell doors on the right side of the wall, and Qui-Gon prayed Obi-Wan was in one of those cell's.
The man disappeared into another room and slammed the door.
Qui-Gon's body bashed into the door. Hissing from the sudden pain in his arm, Qui-Gon backed away to compose himself. He shut his eyes and focused on breathing, re-focusing his mind on the man, hoping the man would hold the answer to Obi-Wan's whereabouts. With the pain subsiding and his mind focused, Qui-Gon turned the knob and gently pushed the door open and walked in. Once again, he was swallowed in darkness and cold air. The door slammed shut behind him, leaving him in complete darkness. Qui-Gon braced himself for battle, watching and listening carefully.
SWISH.
Qui-Gon spun around just in time to block an attack from a yellow light saber, something he rarely saw. He noticed almost directly beneath the light saber was another one.
Apologies for the tardiness of this chapter. I was having a hell of a time trying to come up with a way to make this story longer and more detailed. So, please enjoy this one and I will try to update more as I possibly can.
