Total Eclipse of the Heart

The day had finally arrived as Maxie opened her eyes letting the muffled sounds of a sitcom laugh track.

"Good morning Maximista," Spinelli said entering the living room with a breakfast tray.

She smiled grabbing a glass of Orange juice and mouthed a greeting back before opening her mouth.

"Spinelli I've been thinking...."

He nodded as he brushed a piece of hair from his face.

"I crash here more times then not and I know I'm not Jason's favorite person and well..."

"Well."

"We're adults Spin, friends, no more then friends and well."

"Is Maximista in so little words proposing that she and the Jackal cohabitate."

She smiled and nodded as he took a seat next to her.

"We can discuss this matter after well the wedding, which speaking of what is your itinerary oh wedding planning one."

Letting out a small smile she began to pull a paper from her purse.

--

"High School Musical 3...seriously."

Matt simply nodded as he began to feverishly look around his room for what he needed for the day.

"And I'm sure Spinelli was thrilled."

Matt simply let out a laugh as he turned to look over at Nadine's soft eyes.

"So are you going to head to the church with me or wait and come closer to the ceremony?"

Nadine smiled.

"As thrilling as it would be to be a part of the wedding day hustle and bustle..."

Matt nodded listening to Nadine tell him how she was going to head to Kyle and Lucas's where Milo and Claire were also going to be chilling till the ceremony.

--

And so that was how the day began for everyone....as a black town car arrived in front of the brownstone and Milo got out to open the door for Claire a couple of hours later.

She smiled at the former bodyguard who was looking dashing in his suit and melted a bit as he placed the pale blue wrap around her bare shoulders.

Milo inhaled the sweet sent of her vanilla musk and wondered what he did to be so lucky to find someone to take his heart and not use it as a toy like a certain blonde did.

"Thank you," Claire whispered softly as he took her hand in his and made his way toward the door where Kyle was awaiting.

"Wow Claire, you look amazing."

"Thanks, I bet you wish I were single and you were straight so you'd have a chance."

In his moment Lucas approached and placed an arm around Kyle.

"Not a chance," Kyle said.

"So," Lucas said, "let me be a good host and invite you in."

Milo and Claire simply nodded and entered the house.

--

Across town at the church Robin was in a panic as she paced the bridal suite where Maxie along with her bridesmaids Kelly Lee and Lainey Winters stood helping her.

"I look like a fat cow," Robin said placing her hands on her eight month pregnant stomach, "I should have waited till the baby was born, till I got my figure back till..."

"Robin, if you waited then you wouldn't have this glow which you can't get with make-up. Plus Federico would be upset if you didn't like the dress.

"The Dress isn't the problem, it's just..."

Maxie nodded knowing why Robin felt this way. It was a mix of pregnancy hormones and the fact that her parents along with Georgie weren't there. Of coarse Georgie was dead and Robert was in a clinic in Europe getting chemo treatments but Anna...well Maxie knew something that Robin didn't.

Looking at her watch a smile crossed her lips as suddenly a knock filled the room and Maxie headed to the door and opened it to revel Spinelli.

"Spinelli," Robin said sweetly, "what's wrong, please don't tell me Patrick has cold feet...got called in."

Spinelli shook his head.

"No, the groom to be is still here."

Robin nodded as Kelly eyed the young man.

"So, since Maxie is walking down the isle with Matt what bridesmaid are you matched up with."

The tone in Dr. Lee's voice was borderline flirtatious which wasn't surprising as there were times when they were in the hospital after the crisis and the OBGYN would flirt with the young hacker despite the fact that they were both spoken for.

Smiling at the doctor dressed in a gorgeous green gown he gave her a wink.

"It's you Dr. Lee."

She smiled knowing this though never passing up a chance to flirt.

"So Spinelli," Lainey Winters, the girlfriend of Jason's new enforcer Cody Paul asked, "why are you here, to steal a moment with the maid of honor or..."

"No, I come baring a gift for the bride."

"A gift Spinelli," Robin said smiling, "how thoughtful but I don't need..."

"I can always hop on a plane and go back to your dad."

In hearing her mother's voice she ran into the older woman's arms.

"Mom," she said looking up at Maxie and then toward Spinelli, "Thank you."

--

Across the hallways Patrick and Matt were alone in a suite of their own and after making fun of his little brother and his impromptu movie night he had with Spinelli.

"Ok ok, teasing aside, you know you can always hop a plane to Vegas you know, skip this dog and pony show and all."

"And face the wrath of Maxie, thanks but no. Besides Robin wants a big wedding."

"She told you this..."

"Well not in so many words no..."

Matt let out a small laugh as he gave his brother another little pep talk before the door opened and Coleman entered.

Patrick smiled at the local bartender as he entered glad that his unlikely friend was able to stand up for him.

"Hey, what's up docs, shame you had to cancel on the strippers dude as you, me and Spinelli could have had one hell of a party."

Patrick let out a laugh and Matt simply rolled his eyes.

"So, where is the Jackal anyway?"

"He said he had an errand to do for the made of honor."

Matt couldn't help but chuckle and think that errand was code for making love in a confessional as in getting to know Spinelli and Maxie he could defiantly picture the two lovebirds doing this, heck if Nadine were there a bit of afternoon delight wouldn't be out of the question.

--

"A little bit of pre wedding refreshment," Kyle said entering the living room with a bottle of champagne in one hand.

Milo and Claire politely nodded as the doorbell rang.

"That must be Nadine," Lucas said opening the door to revel the young nurse in spaghetti strapped violet gown, her hair pulled back into an up do intertwined with silk rosettes. Looking around the room she bit her lower lip.

"This is awkward, if I had known this was going to be a couple's party I would have had Leyla come with me."

Milo stood up and headed to the door to gently link arms with the other blonde medical professional.

"Nonsense, though the more would have been the merrier."

"So, Leyla couldn't find a date," Kyle asked.

Nadine simply smiled.

"Well I'm not usually a gossip monger but you know how Carly and Jax are on the outs and all."

Lucas thought of his older sister's relationship and grimaced.

"No."

Nadine nodded.

"Yes, but then he got called to Montreal on business for his other hotel and well..."

"It's for the best," Lucas said.

"How so," the nurse replied with curiosity in her eyes.

"Well, because I'm still keeping the fate that my sister and Jax can settle differences."

"Well you're in the minority," Milo said, "cause when push comes to shove Carly and Sonny always find their way back to each other in the end."

The others nodded in agreement as drinks were poured and a toast was made.

"To us, to friendship..."

--

The door to the grooms suite opened and Spinelli came in slightly short of breath as Matt looked over at the suit that the man was wearing and saw that it was flawless and un wrinkled and his hair was neatly combed and gelled back making the doctor realize there was no pre wedding delights and that the errand was just that, an errand.

"So Spin my man, what was the emergency."

"I needed to pick the mother of the bride from the airport."

"Anna," Coleman said, "Anna's here....is she alone by chance."

Spinelli nodded as the bartender headed out of the room.

The hacker then clasped his hands together.

"Alright, so I know the women have their whole something old, something new tradition but what do us dudes have."

"Why are you asking me," Patrick said, "This is only my first marriage."

"First bro, this better be the ONLY marriage with you as the groom."

"So you mean to tell me you've taken the plunge before, and I thought before nurse Crowell you were a confirmed bachelor."

"I am and no I've never been married and have no clue on traditions."

Spinelli nodded and motioned to the door.

"I'll go and get the trusty barkeep from the ladies."

Patrick nodded and as he and Matt watched Spinelli running out of the room.

"Coleman, Coleman...."

--

The bartender thankfully never made it to the room where the five women were standing around the room while Maxie touched up her lip-gloss before turning to the others and clasping her hands together.

"Alright, shall we get this done right?"

Anna nodded and held up a necklace.

"Something old," she said and Robin's face lit up at seeing the family heirloom.

"Mom," she mouthed as a smile crossed her lips.

Anna just gave a smile back as she held back tears and clasped the necklace round Robin's neck.

"Something new," Lainey said handing Robin a small black velvet jewelry box.

Flipping open the cover she spotted a pair of shiny pearl earrings and Kelly stood by the other doctor's side.

"From both of us," Kelly said smiling.

"Thanks guys," Robin said maneuvering a hug to both her gal pals before putting the earrings into the ear.

"Now something borrowed and blue."

"Please don't tell me it's a garter or something."

Maxie shook her blonde curls and pulled out a blue hair pin which Robin recognized belonged to Georgie.

"Before Georgie died she had let me borrow...ok so I stole this clip and well...you know she's with you today Robin right."

Robin nodded affixing the clip to her hair, a tear streaming down her cheek.

"Thank god for waterproof mascara," Maxie said as she too began to cry when there was a knock on the door and it was Mac.

"Mac," Anna said.

"Anna," Mac replied hugging his ex sister in law before looking at the bride, "are you ready sweetheart."

Robin nodded as they moved from the room toward the chapel.

--

The Ceremony went on without a hitch which was a rarity of the town and soon the guests had made their way from Queen of Angels to the hotel and the gang was now united.

"I see the cane is gone Claire," Maxie said giving her a thumbs up.

She nodded twirling around in her matching flats.

"I know," she said turning to Milo and burying her head on his shoulder, "luckily this guy is wearing his dancing shoes because it's going to be a long night."

Milo grinned as the sound of a car pulled up.

"The couple is here," said Lucas excited as Robin and Patrick entered the room.

The bride looked amazing still in her Federico designed dress and the groom didn't look to shabby either in his designer tux which were both early wedding presents from Maxie.

"So," Kyle whispered, "I haven't been to a wedding in ages but is it toasts first then dancing or...."

Before he could be answered by his friends the announcement was made that the bride and groom would now begin a first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Drake.

Matt watched his brother and sister in law make their way to the floor and turned his head toward Nadine.

"As soon as we can...would you like to dance Crowell."

Nadine nodded.

"Love to Hunter."

However in that moment the happy couple on the floor stopped dancing and the Bride grabbed her side looking up at the occupants of the party who were mostly all doctors.

"It's Time...."
