"A week, I was gone a week." Cecil exclaimed, looking around in equal parts amazement and horror.

Rosa just gapped, "What the hell is going on?"

He wasn't sure if she was reacting to the riot, the fires, the destroyed buildings or the fact that everyone in Baron was running around like mad people. Or maybe it was all of the above.

Biggs and Wedge happened to run by, skidded to a stop and turned back, eyes wide.

"Your back!"

"What happened?!" Cecil asked. Then he thought better of it and sighed, "No, never mind, I know what happened…crystals and the tower and Kain's a jerk and the king was really a turtle monster thing…but…what happened since last time I was here?"

Biggs and Wedge exchanged a glance.

"Well…" Biggs said, looking nervous. "We tried to just go along with what was happening in the world, but all the main characters were gone, so we didn't know what to do!"

Wedge nodded and Biggs continued, "I mean, the economy collapsed and we didn't know what to do!"

Cecil gave them a confused look, "Wait, how does us being gone effect the money system….no, you know what, it's fine. It's really fine…"

They ignored him; "We tried to keep it running, but then people started protesting, and so we stop using Gil and moved instead to trade and barter,"

Wedge leaned over, all smiles, "And good deeds!"

"Good deeds, really?" Cecil repeated, at the end of his rope.

Wedge nodded, smiling. "Never forget the good deeds!"

Biggs finished his story with a helpless shrug. "But that didn't work for very long, and so we just…didn't know what to do!"

"Well," Cecil said, gesturing dully behind them. "Not light the castle on fire, that was probably a bad life decision,"

"You're smart," Wedge said.

Biggs nodded agreement. "Yes, so you're in charge now."

"Wait, what?"

Biggs shrugged again, "You're a main character, so you must know what to do, and you're really smart, and we need a king, so…it's your job now."

"Um." Cecil said, blinking a few times. "I don't think…that's how this works…I mean, I'm not sure how the royal succession was set up in Baron, but I'm hard pressed to believe you can just randomly decide some…guy is in charge. I literally have no qualifications to take this job,"

"We can't be bothered with details like that," Wedge said, sweeping an arm to the utter anarchy in the city. "This is your problem now."

"Well the first thing I'm changing is that stupid rule so you can't just give my title away the next time you feel like it…"

"See!" Biggs exclaimed, "You're smart."

Cecil sighed, "I hate my life."

My brother was apparently trolling my account on here...(How embarrassing with all my stories...lol) but he reminded me I haven't updated this and my other "LOL" stories yet, so here you go!

You know, it's not that crazy an idea that Baron would erupt into anarchy, given what happens, and that there isn't anyone to take charge right away. And how the hell DOES Cecil end up with that job? I mean...on the one hand I get it, on the other, I don't...

Oh, Final Fantasy, it's so cute how you don't know how things work!
