Hours later, Ziva held her daughter close to her and ran her finger over her tanned cheek gently, "I love you", she whispered to the sleeping child that lay curled up to her with her head on her chest. The little one was listening to her heartbeat as a calming technique much like an infant would. Her hair was splayed over the Israeli woman's chest and her face was barely visible beneath her locks.
"I missed you so much", she said softly to the young child whilst she remained in a deep state of slumber, she pulled the child closer with tear filled eyes.
The little one mumbled in her sleep and snuggled up closer, her legs curling up more. "I will never let anything happen to you my Princess", she said softly, speaking in a quiet whisper, "I will protect you every day with everything that I am".
The older woman ran her hand through the child's curls, "You are safe my darling, Habishka Bat", she said with a small smile, "I will do everything in my power to keep it that way and I know that your father will do the same, as will Kate".
She was very grateful that the other woman had helped so much with the young child and that she had kept her safe. At first she had seen her as a threat to the relationship between herself and her daughter but she came to realise that it was in fact quite the opposite. Caitlin Todd was the reason that she could have a relationship with her daughter to begin with.
She lay with her baby girl in her arms whilst she thought about the birth of her child, her kidnapping and all of the events that came afterwards. She thought about how it might have been if the child had not been stolen from her. She thought about what it would have been like to raise the child consistently. She contemplated what it would have been like to see all the different milestones that she had missed out on. She imagined what she could have done to celebrate each of the birthdays that she had missed.
Ziva kept her eyes on the little girl who was laying across her and had shifted to be almost completely on top of her, this fact alone made her smile brightly. She was treasuring the warmth of the child against her, the feel of the little one in her arms and the sight of her baby girl back where she belonged. Where she should have been all along. Where she always would be.
She reached down and pressed a kiss to the girl's head, "I love you Princess, with all of my heart".
The dark haired woman knew that it would be a long path to a sense of normality considering what they had all been through but she also knew that with her daughter in her arms that everything would work out in the end.
A/N I decided to throw a bonus (although very short) chapter for those who read this just to show my change in writing and to show the haters that I have improved (and I hope you'll agree!) I felt that it needed a wrap up chapter
