The next few weeks went by without hitch. Scorpius at first had been wary of his streak of good luck, but he had decided that he wanted to sit back and enjoy it while it lasted. So he did.
Scorpius was surprised to see a note tucked inside his potions book. He opened it up, happy to see it was from Albus.
Meet me in the Room of Requirement tonight at midnight.
- Albus
Scorpius frowned. Usually, Albus would just ask him in person. Oh well. Maybe he just wanted to be all mysterious. He glanced at the clock. He had two hours until he was supposed to meet Al. He decided he would finish the essay he was working on, and then go and take a shower. He smiled, suddenly excited that he had plans for the evening.
)
Scorpius arrived at the Room of Requirement right on time, surprised that Al wasn't waiting for him outside. Shrugging, he assumed it was another part of the mystery.
He opened the room, which was dimmer than usual. He could hardly see, and squinted to make out an Al shaped bulge on the bed. The bulge waved, and patted the side of the bed, indicating that he wanted Scorpius to come sit beside him. Scorpius barely made his way to the bed, nearly tripping over the coffee table on his way. This darkness was ridiculous. He was about to ask Al if he could make it brighter when Al pulled him into a deep kiss. Scorpius frowned against his mouth. This felt different than it usually did. Before he could even begin to wonder what was going on, the door opened again.
"Scorpius?" Called a voice that sounded suspiciously like Al. Before Scorpius could react, 'Al' pulled him into another kiss, and held onto to him so that he couldn't pull away.
Light filled the room, as Albus took in the scene. At first, he looked confused. Then as he focused, his expression changed into one of hurt and betrayal. Scorpius finally unlatched himself from James, and turned to Albus so that he could explain.
"Albus, I-" Scorpius started.
"Don't you dare." Albus said, his voice thick as he tried to hold back tears. "How long has this been going on? How long have you been cheating on me?" Scorpius opened his mouth to speak but the look in Albus' eye stopped him.
"And with my own brother! I can't believe this. I can't believe that I actually thought you cared for me, that you loved me. Well, I guess joke is on Albus, huh? And James! You knew I liked Scorpius, you knew we were dating. How could you do this to me? We're brothers!" Albus shook his head. "Don't talk to me. Either of you." And with that, Albus stomped out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
Scorpius tried to wrap his head around what had just happened.
"Well... He didn't take that well." James said.
Scorpius exploded. "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? YOU JUST RUINED A RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE I ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT IMMENSELY, AND THATS ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY? YOU ARE FUCKING INSANE."
James reached out for Scorpius' hand but he moved away. "Babe, what's wrong?"
Scorpius saw red. Before James could react, Scorpius had his wand out and was hexing him. James flew back, and hit the wall, hard. James yelled out in pain, clutching his now broken arm.
"Fucking talk to me again, and I'll do so much worse than that." Scorpius growled.
He stormed out of the room in hopes of finding Albus.
After an hour of searching, Scorpius realized that Al had probably gone back to his dormitory and he couldn't get into the Gryffindor rooms, so he decided to wait until tomorrow to find Al. He trudged back to his room, wishing he had never found that stupid note.
)
The next day, after little to no sleep, Scorpius rushed down to the Great Hall, hoping to find Albus there. He looked over the Gryffindor table and finally found him, surrounded by his family. It seemed as if they had made a protective bubble around him. With a deep breath, he walked over.
Rose was the first one to notice him. "He doesn't want to talk to you." She said.
"Please, I need to explain." Scorpius pleaded.
Rose looked sad, but stood firm with her decision. "I don't think that will help."
Scorpius stood there for a couple second longer, wondering if he could somehow fight his way through Albus' gigantic extended family to get to him, but knew that it wouldn't work. He decided to try to corner Al and force him to talk to him when he wouldn't be surrounded by family.
This proved to be nearly impossible because no matter where the brunette went, he always had at least one family member by his side and watching out for the big bad Slytherin who had broken Albus' heart. Every time he even got close to the other man, they would pull their wand out.
By the end of the week, Scorpius was utterly depressed and he missed Albus more than should be humanly possible. School was over in a week and he hadn't been able to apologize and if he couldn't by the end of term, Albus would go the whole summer thinking he was a lying cheating bastard and he wouldn't ever be able to forgive him.
Scorpius went to bed without even bothering to try at his homework. What was the point after all?
)
Scorpius had neglected to do all of his homework for the last few weeks of school, and now his grades were terrible. He knew his parents would be upset with him, but he didn't really care. He finished packing his stuff, prepared to spend his summer wallowing in self pity.
He got a compartment with Ella, who filled the silence with her plans for the summer. She had tried to reach out to him several times, but Scorpius would just walk off whenever she brought up Albus, so she eventually just stopped.
The train ride to Kings Cross seemed shorter than usual, and Scorpius hurried to get to his parents. He didn't want to be around when Albus got off the train.
"Hello, sweetie." Astoria said, giving her son a big hug. "We were wondering if you'd like to invite Albus over for dinner some time this week."
Scorpius swallowed around the lump in his throat. "Albus and I are no longer together." He said, his voice strained as he tried not to cry yet again. Astoria wanted to ask what had happened but decided to wait until they got home. The drive home was silent.
)
Once they got to the Manor, Scorpius immediately ran to his room, not even stopping to get his bags from the trunk. He climbed into his bed, sobbing. He still couldn't believe what James had did.
After he had broken James' arm, the other man avoided him like the plague, obviously knowing that he was angry enough to stick to his promise.
Scorpius cried even harder as he remembered the short time that Albus had spent in the Manor, right after they had begun dating. He kind of wished that he could wipe all of the memories of Albus away; making this a less painful time for him, but he knew that he could never forget Albus, not really. Albus had been his first love, his first time. He would be forever in Scorpius' memories.
Scorpius went to bed shortly after, not even waking up to eat dinner.
