3rd Person POV (mixing it up!)
"-and then I went to see Frozen for the 19th time!" Katie finished her agenda of the previous days events. She and Sarah were strolling through North Point Mall, battling the Christmas mobs.
"You do realize that's like, $190 dollars worth of money, right?" Sarah raised her eyebrows playfully. She was wearing a white-knit tunic with a wide chesnut tone belt around the waist, paired with black leggings and furry boots. Her hair was in a messy bun that made the teal streaks in it swirl around her head.
"As opposed to the "free" but illegal downloads you watch?" Katie laughed.
"Hey," Sarah grinned, "the Internet was created for a reason. I merely take advantage of its assets..including megashare..."
"Well sketchy websites aside, we need to get down to business with this secret Santa thing." Katie concluded, messing with the zipper on her brown leather jacket. "Who'd you get?"
"Iggy, of all people!" Sarah replied disgustedly. "What that boy really needs for Christmas is a punch in the balls!"
"Agreed!" Katie rolled her eyes while sorting through a rack of J Crew dresses. "Honestly! What is his deal?! Emily was the best thing to ever to him and he just gives it up! I mean Hannah's awesome, but that was totally the wrong move."
"Have you talked to her lately?"
"Yeah," Katie answered casually. "She's okay. The first night was rough but now she won't talk about it."
"I'd say its about time we step in and talk control of the situation..." Sarah suggested.
"Agreed," purred Katie, comparing a pair of pink earrings with a silver necklace.
"So who'd you get?" Sarah changed the subject while bobby pinning a loose strand of hair.
"Fang," Katie mumbled while checking her phone for the time. "Not exactly my favorite person either."
"You know what the answer is?" Sarah asked then answered, "Something funny and meaningless. Like a stupid t shirt or a mug."
"Gotcha," Katie nodded, obviously preoccupied with her shopping decisions.
"You know what?" Sarah grinned, her eye caught on the store parallel. "I think I'll get our winged idiot a free tattoo!" She strutted across the hallway.
"WHAT?" Katie yelled after her, dropping the clothes she was holding before setting off the theft alarm and sprinting to catch up with Sarah. "Are you insane?!"
"Maybe a little," replied Sarah with a devilish grin. "But at this rate with all the horrible decisions he's making he will get something permanently imprinted on his skin to regret the rest of his life!" She looked positively thrilled.
"You're evil," giggled Katie.
"What? And you're not?" Sarah replied slyly as the two girls entered the shop.
Alois pov
"-see you later!" I called as Ruth drove away in her forest green jeep. I climbed up the stairs of my front porch and use my spare key to get in. I'm halfway across the living room when Hannah pops out from behind the sofa.
"Ah!" I scream (a perfectly manly shriek I might add). "Hannah you are literally the spawn of satan!" I throw a pillow at her for good measure.
"Love you too, bro!" She giggles and twirls into the kitchen behind me. I grab some Doritos and head up to my room. Before I can open my door Hannah jumps in front of me.
"Hold up there," she grins evilly. "I need you to do something for me.." I roll my eyes.
"I'm not your dog, do it yourself!" I try to push past her but to no avail. "Or even better get your new BFF Lissa to do it. That's her name, right? Or was it Lucifer, I can't remember."
"Lissa can't know everything!" She moans, throwing her head back and giving me the chance to get through. I stretch out on the sofa but Hannah just playfully jumps on top of me.
"How about your new boyfriend? I'm sure he'll do anything for you at this point." I just wish she would get out; I had 2 papers to write.
"Oh, I don't doubt that! He's practically eating out of the palm of my manicured hand but I need this to be our little secret." She leans closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Or do I need to add a special someone to that list?" Ruth. Ouch.
"Fine, I'll do it," I groan.
"Delightful!" She grins devilishly and leans in closer to fill me in on her next plot.
Max POV
Do you guys believe in fate or destiny, or whatever crap they call it? I do, I honestly believe there's like this huge guy up in the sky who likes to screw with people, particularly me. I'm in the middle of downtown Atlanta, miles away from Marietta in one of those tiny record shops, drinking coffee and minding my own business, when some jerk bumps into me, spilling my drink everywhere. I was about to hit him with a few choice words along with my fist when I saw who said jerk was. Guessed it yet? I'll give you a hint: it was Fang.
"Gah!" He bursts out. I seemed to have managed to dump a sizeable amount of caffeinated beverage on his crotch. Of course. "What the-" He stops dead when he realizes it's me. "Oh...um...uh.." He stutters. I sign, leaning against a display case. After a minute I finally look at his face. I notice a few bruises above his left temple.
"You ok?" I ask halfheartedly. He reaches up and touches it and winces. "What happened?"
"Iggy. I'm fine," he mumbles, not looking me in the eye. The tension drags on for a painstakingly long amount of time.
"You know we're really bad at avoiding each other," I manage to get out through the chocking silence.
"Yeah," he mumbles. "We are." He turns to leave and at first, I let him. After infinity of about 6 solid seconds of agony, I catch up with him. For reasons I am honestly not sure about, I grab him by the neck and pull him into a deep kiss. It felt like all of my worries were washed away as the sparks flew up and down my body, giving me goosebumps. When we pull away, I'm completely speechless. The moment immediately turns to regret and I'm about to apologize when he pulls me into a rough hug, one of the most publically affectionate things he has ever done. "I missed you," he whispers into my hair. "I missed you too." I whisper back.
"I'm so...sorry," As much as I hate apologizing I couldn't stand the distance. Our relationship had more or less started from a dare, but it had grown to be so much more. Even if it was doomed from the start, I wanted the heartbreak if it meant we could be together.
"It's..ok" he grins, still embracing me. "It's really ok." After a while he finally pulls away. For a moment he just looks at me, like he's taking me in.
"Let's get out of here," I give him a sly smile.
"That's all I need to hear," he cracks one of those rare smiles that drives me crazy. We take off running down the street like freakin' Dauntless initiates and take off to the skies, our silhouettes growing smaller and smaller as we soar higher until they blend into one. Like they always should be. The chill rips against my skin but with Fangs wings brushing mine, I feel breathless and unstoppable at the same time.
(A/N: So I know it was a little short but I hope you liked it! Remember to drop us some reviews on your way out. Here are some questions you can answer in your reviews:
What do you think about Fang and Max getting back together?
Opinion on Hannah/Alois?
Opinion on secret santa?
Opinion on Hannah and Iggy?
We would honestly like to know your opinion on these things (or other stuff in the story). So please review!
Bye,
Ruth (chapter by Emily)
