Rise of Silverpine chapter 27.5

I do not own ASOIF or Warcraft

Myrcella's expression slightly faltered for a moment before nodding lightly. Jaime gently nudged her by the shoulder, lightly pulling her away, urging her to walk alongside him. The Lannister was silent for a long time as they walked, perhaps too long.

"Uncle?" questioned the girl next to him, snapping him out of his internal struggle. Jaime opened and closed his mouth for a while before saying:

"You've grown beautifully." He stated with a small smile, internally cringing and hoping that the girl did not noticed how awkward he truly felt. In response, Myrcella smiled brightly, the knight completely missing the slight glint in her green eyes.

"How did you enjoy Stormwind?" questioned Jaime, trying to change the theme.

"Oh, it was lovely and oh, so, different. I just… cannot explain it even." The girl exclaimed.

"And the prince?"

"He was most kind, generous and attending. If only Joff was like him…" the older man smiled.

"You like him?" it was more of a statement rather than a question.

"What?...No…ok…maybe a little." The girl fumbled with words.

"When Cersei sees how happy you are, I am sure she will arrange a marriage for you." the girl's expression suddenly darkening.

"I don't want to go back…" she whispered out. The knight's expression changed to a frown.

"Then you won't have to. You will stay in King's Landing and your mother will find you a good husband, in time."

"No! I don't want to go back… to King's Landing. I don't want to marry someone just because mother or grandfather said so. I don't want to be just a lady." The girl uncharacteristically ranted, Jaime raising an eyebrow before responding.

"You are not and will not be a lady. You are a princess. You can be the queen of Stormwind. That does not sound that bad, does it?"

"It's not about been queen, uncle! It's about having a future forced upon me. Just look where we stand and you will understand." Jaime was actually confused by the last statement.

"The two Stark girls founded a kingdom, a rather powerful one, in just five years! Surely I can become something more than… a priced cow!"

"Myrcella, I will talk to your mother, try to allow you some freedoms. But you have to come home. Your parents will miss you, I am certain they already do."

"Uncle… we both know that the king will not notice even if I died and mother only has eyes for Joff."

"Myrcella…"

"Uncle…please….just don't"

"These lands are dangerous. Yes, you can have greater freedom here, but the chance of dying is that much higher as well!"

"At least I would have chosen it!" the two were silent for a while before Jaime asked in a low voice:

"Is Stormwind really that better?"

"When Anduin asked me to come with me to see King's Landing, I felt ashamed…"

"You have seen Gilneas, haven't you?" the girl mumbled "Just that city is times better then where we come from… and Stormwind is even more so. I…I really don't want to go back." she once again mumbled.

"Call me arrogant, but if the Stark girls can do it, so can I!" they stoped walking now, Jaime turning fully to his oblivious daughter.

"Then what do you desire? You don't want an arranged marriage, yet Anduin is a prince. You can only be together through such an arrangement."

"Uncle, I am fifteen. I used to think that I want to marry a handsome prince, but now… I am not so sure. It is not Anduin, I like but, but when you think just how much more I can be…surely marriage can wait?" the golden knight was silent for a while after the princess spoke, his head down.

"I know… I know what it's like, wanting to be something more… but we cannot exactly just do it, just pick up and leave all behind."

"Why?" sharply questioned Myrcella.

"Because…Because…" the knight struggled for a response, all the reasons that appeared in his mind seemed superficial even to him.

"What do you have in mind?" he asked, sighing in exasperation.

Myrcella practically beamed, the libram in her hand coming out, the girl swiftly shifting through the pages. Soon, the open book was suddenly shoved into Jaime's face by the unexpectedly-hyperactive girl. On the left page, there was a short paragraph centered in the middle of it.

It described something about titanic watchers and betrayals, the names and locations been too many and unknown for Jaime to keep track off them all. On the right page, however, there was a drawing of a one-handed, gold-plated hammer in a golden halo that somehow actually seemed to glow slightly.

"I don't seem to understand it all fully… but it described a hammer?" uncertainly questioned Jaime "A hammer that has been long-lost?" the girl nodded feverously, her emerald eyes practically twinkling. His mind slowly began clicking, the bigger picture falling into place.

"Myrcella, you don't plan to go after a legend, do you? It would be dangerous, not to mention wasteful."

"Uncle…" the girl began slowly, a light smile on her face "I never planned to get on that ship back for Westeros."

The man lost his tongue for quite a while, his eyes wide. He was practically looking at a younger Cersei, the very same spirit burning behind the girl's emerald orbs. Only that now, there was no Tywin to bring an end to the girl's ambitions like he had done to Cersei years ago and Jaime was most certain he himself could not do it. Casting a second look at his daughter, he realized something

'I like seeing her happy… and if it means hunting for a myth, so be it.'

"I cannot allow you to go" the man paused, the girl's spirit falling instantly at those words, further pushing Jaime in the course of action that he has just decided. "alone. As a kingsguard, I must protect you, princess." Before he can say anything else, the girl collided with him and with Jaime not wearing any armor inside the castle, he felt the full blunt of the body tackled from the much smaller girl.

"You are not a kingsguard." she mumbled into his chest "You are my favorite uncle." She pulled back, her face beaming with happiness, the halls of Wolfgard somehow appearing brighter and warmer. Myrcella cast her eyes back down to the book, gazing towards the pages in light wander.

"We will find the Silver hand! This is our quest!" she declared almost dramatically.

'I immediately regret this decision.'

Hello there.

A very short… Set up chapter, I guess you can call it. The more I think about the golden duo, the more crazy ideas I come up with that can surprisingly work. Yes, we are getting into Legion artifacts, but while similar, it would also be a different 'quest'. Additionally, when I write about Jaime and Myrcella, I would try to make it lighter, as opposed to the usual doom and gloom.

I would try to post a full chapter soon, as in within a week, but it is charter season and I work at an airport…so… free time is a luxury.

Thank you for reading.
