Welcome back to this mess! The last chapter was a bit more intense, so this one is more lighthearted and fun! Or at least as fun as it can get.
In any case, it's a new chapter! Thank you to everyone who commented last time! A lot of you were old fans to this story way back in the day, so it was nice to see all of you again! And thank you to everyone new who is getting into this story!

Chapter 28
Even though Danny was a superhero, he really hated confrontation. It was one thing when someone was threatening to blow up his hometown (so not cool), but was another when he had to settle it with words. Sure, he may be fluent in twelve different languages, but that doesn't mean he's good at it!
In any case, he knew it was necessary. If it wasn't him, it would probably end up being Sam or Valerie, or both, and he didn't feel like subjecting two of his classmates that were in the wrong place at the wrong time to that terrifying ordeal. He loved them both dearly, but he knew Nathan and Mikey wouldn't walk away without missing a body part.
Dinner was going to be starting soon too, so it would be best to get it over with. Sam, Valerie, Tucker, and Dani were going to get ready, and they can handle getting the rest of their classmates to the dining hall. He wasn't sure if Frostbite actually listened to him when he asked for them not to prepare a feast, but at the very least he hoped their wasn't haggis.
He walked through the underground tunnel system instead of going through the front door of the guest house, in hopes to avoid his parents mostly. He waved to the yeti he passed and to a little ghost kid that played with the yeti children and Dani sometimes. Dani was tough, and more than capable of handling herself, but she was still a little kid at heart and he was happy she could embrace that.
Well, if she could embrace her inner kid, then he can embrace being king. And right now, duty called.
Even though Nathan had more of less come to terms with what he saw and what he was feeling, it still frightened him when Danny knocked on the door to his and Mikey's shared room. Lester and Lucy had left to go get ready by that time, but Nathan just thought they left because Mikey's frantic pacing and mumbling was freaking them out. To be honest, it freaked him out too.
The three young men stood awkwardly in the room, each obviously showing how much they did not want to be there for the ensuing conversation. Despite Mikey's quivering knees and equally shaky voice, he broke the silence.
"Please don't throw us in the dungeon!"
"What?" Danny said, looking at the scrawny nerd. "Why the hell would I do that?"
Mikey shrugged and rung his hangs together. "I-I don't k-know. You know a l-lot of powerful ghosts s-so m-maybe you'd make them t-throw us in a cell or something. Please don't though! I'm salutatorian and just got accepted into Yale and we haven't even done finals yet!"
Nathan felt like he just got whiplash from how fast Mikey had just talked, and from the look on Danny's face, he felt the same way.
"Uh...congrats?"
Mikey blinked. "What?"
"...You just said you're salutatorian and got into Yale. Congrats."
"Oh, um, thanks?"
Nathan sighed. "Are we not going to talk about what happened?" He said softly.
Danny really looked like he wanted to be somewhere else. "Yeah, we are. Alright, I need to know what you guys saw. I need to know what you know."
Nathan and Mikey stammered.
"Uh well…"
"OK well so Tucker was at this big computer...thing…"
"Yeah and there were all these whirring noises-"
"Yah like there were a bunch of fans!"
"Yeah! And then we got a bit closer and that's when we saw that girl...um…"
"Dani?"
"Yes! Her!"
"Well we saw her...floating...not much through! And then she saw us and then you guys were glaring at us-"
"And then a timer went off and you guys were super happy then Tucker dropped his PDA and the computer did something and you guys were distracted so we left."
"Oh and something about you and Sam being her parents? I really don't get that."
Danny sighed. "So...do you have any questions?" He said, grimacing as if he was mentally slapping himself.
Mikey blubbered some more. "I mean, I just want to know who um...Dani is? Like how…?"
Danny rubbed the back of his neck. "It's...a long and complicated story. Uh, but TL;DR, a frootloop tried to clone me for, um, reasons, and Sam's DNA got mixed up in the process."
Mikey nodded, "Ok, um, so she's not like...so Sam didn't…?"
Danny's eyes went wide and his face lit up a strange reddish-green. "No! No no no, nothing like that. She didn't...have...Dani. We...can't."
Nathan and Mikey were really regretting their life choices.
"You...can't? So have you two not...you know…" Nathan awkwardly asked, regretting it the moment it came out of his mouth.
Danny's face grew more flushed. "NO! I mean, ugh, yeah, um, we...we have. I-I mean I physically...can't. I'm," Danny was waving his hands around frantically by now, "I'm sterile." He finished quietly.
Mikey and Nathan, while having a bit more understanding of the situation, really wished they hadn't.
Danny held his face in his hands. "I really regret this conversation." He mumbled to himself before looking at the two in front of him. "So, any more questions that I'll not want to answer?"
Mikey immediately started shaking his head no, but Nathan bundled up the remainder of his dignity and courage instead.
"No no we're go-"
"Are you Phantom?"
Danny proceeded to choke on his own spit. "That is EXACTLY the kind of question I don't want to answer god fucking damn it Nathan."
"Sorry, it's just a question I've had on my mind for a while and seeing you, uh, kid floating then it kinda makes sense that you would be able to float too. It just kinda all fits together. Plus, now that I think about it, Fenton and Phantom rhyme. It's not very creative."
"I had to think of something!" Danny said.
"So you are Phantom?"
Danny realized he'd been caught in his own web, "Shit!"
"Whoa whoa whoa. So you're Phantom?" Mikey said, catching onto the sudden turn.
All Danny could do was internally scream.
"So...how'd it happen?" Nathan asked after a few moments of hesitation.
Danny sighed again. "When the portal was finished it wouldn't turn on so I put on a suit and stepped in it so Sam could take a picture and accidentally pressed the on button which my parents put inside the portal for some fucking reason. Turned on with me in there."
"They put the on button inside?"
"Is that why you're sterile?"
"Dear Clockwork...okay! Alright, so here's the thing, you cannot say anything about this to anyone, got it?"
The two boys quickly nodded.
Danny threw his hands up, a large, slightly insane looking smile spread across his face. "Great! Okay! Awesome! I'm done! I'm DONE! This conversation is OVER. Dinner will be ready in ten minutes, you're smart you can figure it out. I am so done here!"
With that Danny walked out the door, repeating "I'm done," over and over to himself.
Later at dinner, when their individual friend groups questioned them about their behavior, they only groaned.
At least there wasn't any haggis.
Alright! This chapter is over. Much like our dear Danny-boy, I am done here!
Make sure to comment, favorite, and all that fun stuff! It gets you chapters faster! I'm also graduating this Friday, so I'll try to get another chapter posted by then, as I'll be busy this weekend, but no promises.
Love all you kittens!
