EPILOGUE –MOVING FORWARD

Deciding whether or not to invite Jacob Black was a difficult decision. I was full of uncertainty when faced with this decision, I was in the dark on this one. If I invited him and he refused to come, Bella would be hurt. If an invitation was sent she could have no knowledge of it. On the other hand, inviting him and having him show up, could cause needless stress on what is supposed to be the happiest day of my existence?

All these questions overwhelmed me, and time was running out. The invitations needed to be mailed out soon, leaving time for people to RSVP. Alice was bugging me relentlessly about making a decision. Her pressuring me was not helping the situation.

"Edward, you're running out of time. If you're going to send an invitation to Jacob Black, you'd better do it soon," Alice reminded me.

"Alice, stay out of this. It's none of your business," I snapped back.

"It is my business, as the wedding coordinator I need to know how many people –or others –will be attending the wedding," she said.

"Alice, you know as I do, that two more people won't make a difference either way. So quit nagging me," I said with chagrin.

"Fine, I'll assume their coming. Happy!" she asked.

"Yes. Now go away," I said.

"What are you doing?" she asked, pulling her eyebrows together.

"Attempting to plan a honeymoon. If you don't mind –some privacy," I snapped at her, waving my hand toward the door.

"Where are you thinking of going?" she asked, full of curiosity.

"I'm not sure. There's a few things I need to consider before I pick a place," I offered.

"What's to consider?" she asked puzzled.

"Nothing, it's none of your business. Go away," I repeated, waving my hand faster.

She closed her eyes for a minute, then opened them quickly.

"Oh… oh! Okay, I get it… you might want to speak to Esme first though."

"Alice, I swear if you don't get out of…" I began to throw her out, but she stopped me.

"No… no, she's planning a honeymoon for you. Just talk to her," Alice offered.

"Really?" I asked, puzzled.

"Yeah, you know Esme," Alice said.

"Thanks Alice, for everything." I offered, feeling like a heal.

"You're welcome, Edward. Don't worry everything will be great," she promised.

She turned and headed out of my room. Sitting on my couch I thought about what she said. I'd been procrastinating sending an invitation to Jacob, and I suppose if it were something I was going to do, I should just do it. But first, I wanted to speak with Esme and get information on this honeymoon. Getting up from the couch I made my way to Esme's room.

Sitting at her desk, she was working on blue prints.

"Esme, do you have a minute?" I asked, walking into the room.

"Sure, Edward. What's up?" she asked.

"I was talking to Alice about a honeymoon…"

"And she told you I already had one planned. What a big mouth," Esme shook her head, disappointed.

"Don't blame her, she found out I was planning one, and told me to talk to you first," I said.

"Well, Edward. Carlisle and I would like to offer you Esme Island for your honeymoon. We'd be honored if you would go there," she said, a smile spreading across her face.

"That's a very nice offer, Esme," I answered.

"It's okay if you want to go somewhere else, I won't be offended," she explained.

"No. I'd love that, it's perfect. Thank you," I said.

"Well, I hope Bella likes it," she said.

"I'm certain she'll love it. How's the wedding plans coming?" I asked.

"Great. Renee's been a big help and well, you know Alice, nothing gets by her. Everything will be perfect Edward. You'll be pleased. And although, she'd never admit it, Bella will love it too. I promise," Esme beamed.

"Sounds like everything is under control," I stated.

"Everything will be great, Edward. Don't worry, you'll get premature worry lines," she said smiling at me.

"I'm not worried. I'm anxious, I wish it were here already," I said.

"I know, dear, but relax it'll be here before you know it," she promised.

"I will, I've got to go. See you later."

"See you later, Edward."

Turning I headed out the door and down the stairs. Carlisle was in the living room sitting on the couch watching TV. I joined him, sitting down next to him, anxiety running rapid.

"Edward, how are you?" he asked.

"Fine," I answered, hesitating with the question that was looming in my mind.

We sat for a while watching the TV, until I couldn't hide my anxiety any longer and Carlisle noticed.

"What's wrong, Edward?" he turned to look at me.

"Nothing is wrong. That's not it," I answered.

"Well, what's troubling you then?" he asked, as he stared at me.

"Where is everyone?" I asked, hoping we were alone.

"There all gone hunting, you're free to talk," he offered.

"Well, I was just wondering… there's something Bella wanted to…" embarrassment washed over me making this difficult to explain.

"It's okay, Edward. Tell me what the problem is," Carlisle prodded.

"After we're married, Bella wants to… you know," I put my head in my hands. "She wants to have sex, while she's still human, and I told her we would try, but now I'm not certain that was a smart idea," I rushed the words out, pulling my head out of my hands as I looked for Carlisle's reaction. I thought for sure he would have some kind of reaction, but there was nothing.

"Oh. I see," was all he said.

"Am I crazy?"

"No, Edward. It's not crazy. It's difficult, there are things you need to consider, but you're not crazy."

Thoughts formed in his head. Thoughts of Tanya and her sister. They all had relations with human men, a lot. I'd forgotten that, if it were possible for them, then surely, it was possible for us.

"Edward, I know you saw my thoughts, but there are still considerations. Physical love is powerful, something not to be taken lightly. With our rarely changing temperatures, strong emotions can alter us in permanent ways. But I suppose that's already happened for you. Bella has already altered you so completely," Carlisle thought for a moment.

"But what should I watch out for, I mean with me being what I am, is there something I should be prepared for?" I asked.

"Just control. Control will be very important and you'll have to be very careful. But honestly Edward, I don't believe you could hurt her. I think it will all go well, I have faith in you and you always do what's right," he explained.

"I'm not so certain about that, but thank you for sharing that with me. You've given me plenty to think about."

"Stop worrying so much, Edward. You'll know what to do, you always do."

We sat quietly watching the TV again, until the others came through the door from their trip.

"How did everything go?" I asked, as Emmett and Jasper entered the room.

"Good, although we didn't go far enough," Emmett squealed as he took a seat in the chair.

"It was fine," Jasper said, as he walked over to the couch.

Carlisle stoop up. "I have to get to work, I'll see everyone later."

"Bye, Carlisle. Don't work too hard." I said.

"Bye," Emmett said.

We sat in silence as Emmett flipped through a hundred channels at a time. Thinking about everything Carlisle had told me made me more concerned. Control was the key. How much control were we talking about? For him to emphasize that seemed to make that much more important. Knowing how difficult control was when I was with her now, if that were any indication, I wasn't certain I was capable of that type of control.

When I was with her now my control was in question. With her scent swirling my mind, kissing her making me cloudy, how would I control that? It was easy to see how I could lose control, and her safety wasn't something I was willing to risk. Taking such a chances with her life was insane. How could I even consider this?

"Edward, what are you thinking about now?" Emmett asked.

"Nothing… It's nothing," I said.

"It's not nothing, you were a million miles away," Jasper piped in.

"I just had a talk with Carlisle, and I was thinking about that," I resolved, hoping they would drop it.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Jasper asked.

"I'm not sure," I answered, embarrassed once again.

"Maybe we can help," Jasper offered.

"Fine. We were talking about sex," I said out right.

"Oh… well, what were you talking about?" Jasper asked, surprised.

"What I could expect? What she could expect? And, what I should be worried about, what with her being human and me not being?" I asked.

"You can expect the greatest pleasure of your life," Emmett said, with a laugh.

Jasper hit him off the chair. Leave it to Emmett to make light of the situation, the exact reason I didn't wanted to discuss it with him.

"He's kind of right. It is very pleasurable. But because I've never… well, you know… done that with a human, I'm not sure about Bella. I don't know what to tell you, Edward," Jasper offered.

"There's only one thing better than sex, Edward, and that's drinking human blood," Emmett said, as he laughed again.

I just remembered why I never asked him serious questions before. He was not the most reliable person to gain important information from. He had a hard time being serious, Emmett almost never took anything earnestly.

"I was more worried about control. Will I be able to control myself?" I asked.

"You have more control than any of us, if anyone could do it, it would be you. But you will have to be careful," Jasper offered.

"Yeah, Edward. You'll be fine," Emmett said.

"Well, thanks it's been helpful," I answered.

Standing up I made my way back up the stairs to my room. Walking to my bed I sat on the edge and thought about the conversations I've had today. In conclusion, my decision was to stop stressing over what would happen on our honeymoon. I would just wait and see what would happen at that time. I had done all I could to make it easier for us and there was nothing to do now but wait.

With one other thing hanging over my head, it was time to write an invitation that I had been putting off. Sitting at my desk, I pulled out the invitation awaiting my attention. Holding the thick ivory envelope I opened it and removed the thick formal card inside that had petal-printed pages. Taking a piece of white paper from my desk, I put pen to paper and began writing my message:

Jacob,

I'm breaking the rules by sending you this. She was

afraid of hurting you, and she didn't want to make you

feel obligated in any way. But I know that if things

had gone the other way, I would have wanted the

choice.

I promise I will take care of her, Jacob. Thank

you –for her –for everything.

Edward.

Placing the note and the invitation in the envelope, I sealed it up and wrote the address on the front. Rising from my desk I made my way out of my room, down the stairs, and out the front door. Walking to my car, I slipped in and pulled out of the garage. Driving down the highway I made my way to the nearest mailbox. Once there, I stopped, got out of the car and went to the box. Standing there for a moment, I was still debating my actions.

Uncertain if this were the right decision, I knew that she would want him there. She would want her best friend at her wedding and there was no denying that. Doing anything I could to make her happy, I was certain this would. Dropping the envelope into the mailbox, I returned to my car.

Sitting for a moment, I was satisfied with my decision. There was no turning back now, but I didn't wanted to. As much as I knew she would be happy, and as much as I hated to admit it, I wanted him there too. I wanted him to see her happy, I needed him to realize, that I was not the worst thing that could happen to her. I hoped he could accept us, but that was most likely a pipe dream, but I could hope.

After all, I'd gotten everything and more than I'd asked for, why not this too? Would it be too much to ask for this one small thing?

Well, there you have it. Hope you enjoyed that, if so, hit the review button and let me know, or if you didn't, let me know that too. I will be posting the few chapters of Breaking Dawn next week. I hope you stick around for that book too. For the final book, I went completely off the real book and wrote it they way I thought it should have been. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
