Morgan's POV again, enjoy, you amazing people! and a happy holidays

"Man, you can really pack it away. Almost as much as Odd." Emily chuckled.

"I need the extra energy, I'm a growing girl." I said, deadpan. She laughed again. This was good. Humor brought down people's defenses. I didn't think I was particularly funny, but if Emily did, that was nothing but an advantage to me.

I picked the last few peas and globs of potato from my tray, as Emily watched. She had finished her meal some time ago. The problem with food based energy was that, yes, it did supply me adequate energy, but then I was stuck with all of this by-product that I couldn't do anything with. It just made me heavier. I preferred pure electricity, but if there were power surges all the time, someone would come to investigate. Besides, I was still supposed to be acting human right now, and humans ate.

I finished and we put our trays away to get cleaned.

"Right, off to the library. Math isn't gonna study itself." Emily said. I nodded, and we headed off to the library. The library ended up being full of students. Seemed everyone needed to study for math. Math was one of those subjects most humans just weren't that good at. This was a little crowded for my liking. Even Sissi's clone was here, making up jingles for all the math equations and singing them incessantly to everyone in an attempt to help. People tried to get her to be quiet, but it was no use.

Eventually, Emily and I found a corner of the library that wasn't already taken. We took out our books and I began to go through practice problems with her. After a few minutes it was very obvious she had no idea what she was doing. She put a lot of effort in but math just wasn't her subject. She found the concepts hard to wrap her mind around I explained each to her at least a dozen different ways. It seemed nothing was working.

"I'm sorry Morgan, I'm just...not as smart as you." Emily said, exasperated.

"That's true, but that doesn't mean you can't pass this test." I explained. For the first time this evening, Emily gave me a weird look. What did I do?

"You're supposed to say 'Oh, no, that's not true, you are smart!'"

"Supposed to? Well, you are smart, but objectively speaking, you aren't as smart as I am. My brain works more quickly and efficiently than just about everyone here."

"Yeah...well...if you tell people that, nobody's gonna like you." Emily explained.

"I don't need anybody to like me." I replied. Emily and I stared at each other for a few seconds.

"Touche."

"Can we get back to work?" I asked.

"Yeah but...Morgan, it's no use. I'm never gonna wrap my head around this stuff!"

"That's a bad attitude to take. Listen, I know a little trick to help you remember everything." I smiled. I had an idea.

"And what's that?" Emily asked cautiously. I pulled a term out of my head I had seen on the internet in regards to desperate study tactics.

"Osmosis." I said simply.

"Water traveling from a more to less crowded place...what about it?" Emily asked, bewildered.

"Osmosis, but with information. Get knowledge directly from the book."

"That's not an actual thing, Morgan." Emily said.

"Sure it is, people just try to do it by sleeping on the book. That isn't the way to do it. Come on, just humor me for a second."

"Fine, fine...it's better than doing nothing. What do I do?" Emily asked.

"Put your head down on the book, and close your eyes." I said. She did as I said.

"Wow, I can just feel the information flowing in! I'm gonna pass for sure!" She remarked sarcastically.

"There's more to it. Now, I'm going to put my hands on the back of your head...now picture all of the information going straight from the book to your long term memory." My hands phased partway inside her head and inserted the electrical pules that corresponded to all of the information in the text book directly into her long term memory. When I was done, I took my hands away and told her she could sit up.

"My head feels...kinda tingly..." She said.

"Good. Now, let's try these problems again." I opened the textbook to the questions we had been working on. Emily looked at the problem, looked confused for a second, and then her eyes widened. She wrote out and solved the problem in a matter of 10 seconds. She stared at me, mouth agape.

"What...what did you do?" She asked.

"Me, I did nothing. It was osmosis. Having a friend around helps, though."

"We're friends?" Emily asked.

"Yeah, of course." I smiled. "You should be able to pass your test now. I have to go, plans, you know? I'll see you tomorrow." We high fived, and I left.

Ulrich, Yumi, and William were the ones who showed up for the math finals. William explained to me telepathically that he, Yumi, and Ulrich were the ones that had the most riding on their gpas being good. Jeremie had good parents who would understand. Besides, he needed to keep working on the multi-agent. Aelita did not have parents, and Odd's parents did not care about his grades at all, so Odd was going to defend the base. He was a better fighter than Aelita or Jeremie. Odd had the EMP gun. They figured if I went to find their base, it would be easier to get a shot at me in that enclosed space. Plus they could not shoot me at Kadic without making big problems for themselves.

Of course they could have just come up to me at school, shot me, and then did a return to the past. I would be neatly erased from existence without any repercussions for them. They would have still had to deal with Sissi and Taelia's death, but this story would be more or less wrapped in a neat little bow. I guess they didn't think of doing that. Oh well.

I saw Yumi and William walk into the room designated for 10th grade math testing. They gave me such nasty looks, but only one was genuine. I actually elected to take this test. Math was fun for me. I made sure to work very slowly so that I would finish around the same time as everyone else. The Lyoko Warriors came and left with no incident. I think Jim questioned them about their absences, but I wasn't really paying attention to them. They took the test and then left.

As soon as I left the testing room, Emily caught my attention. The 9th grade testing got out before the 10th grade testing. As soon as she saw me she waved. I walked up to her.

"Hello. How did your test go?" I asked.

"Uh, great, but, uh..." She seemed troubled by something.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I saw someone coming out of your room. She doesn't go here but I knew her face from somewhere. She wrecked your room. I thought I could find you in your room after finals cause you weren't taking them. I thought I could let you know how I did."

"What?" I tensed. I grabbed Emily's wrist and pulled her along to my room. It was true. The door was unlocked and everything was a wreck. Whoever this was, she had been looking for a secret. The covers were thrown off the bed, the closets were thrown open, papers littered the floor. But...worst of all...my laptop sat on the ground, a smashed heap of parts. I could feel myself twitch violently.

"Who...did this?" I asked, slowly and deliberately.

"I...she was familiar from somewhere...give me a little time. I never forget a face." As she thought, she started picking up papers and stacking them on the desk. I did the same.

I nodded at her. Everything else was fine but...the loss of my laptop was a big problem...and that was precisely the point. It was obviously someone the Lyoko Warriors got to try and cripple me...and me, being an idiot, did not keep my room on complete lockdown. I must have overlooked something. Laptops weren't allowed in during the test, that was why I left it. That was...really stupid of me. There was nothing to do about it now...

"I got it! I've seen her at the McDonald's nearby." Emily announced triumphantly.

"McDonald's? Did she have blonde hair?"

"Yeah. You know her?" Emily asked.

"As a matter of fact, I do. She's with them."

"Who's them?" Emily asked, no longer messing with the papers.

"Jeremie and his friends. They have it out for me." Well, I wasn't lying. They did.

"Weren't you hanging out with them a lot last week?"

"I was."

"What happened?" she asked. I got up from the floor and sat down on the bed.

"Emily...can I trust you? Can you keep a secret?" I asked, head in my hands. She put down the debris of my room she was carrying and came to sit next to me, putting a hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah, of course, Morgan. What is it?"

"Me and them, we're at war." I sighed.

"What? War?" She was confused now.

"War." I restated. "It's been two years..."

"But you've barely been here two weeks!"

"I know, cause they cut off access to the original battlefield!"

"Which was?"

"Virtual reality." I said, and looked up at her. She was shocked. I went on. "I'm not real."

"...Start from the beginning." Emily trailed off.

"It all started in 1978, on a mountain in Canada-"

"1978?! What happened to two years ago?!"

"Right, I'll jump ahead. Two, or actually, closer to three years ago Jeremie Belpois found a Supercomputer inside the Renault Factory just off the River Thames, a few blocks from here. The Supercomputer contained a virtual world which housed my father. He and his friends thought we were dangerous, so they started attacking us every time he tried to reach out to the world. We wanted to make a better Earth. Eventually father knew the end was coming so he made me to help him, one last stand. They killed him. Jeremie and his friends took away my father and my home. I have to avenge him...Can...can you help Emily? I know it's a lot to take in, but I can make it worth your while..."

She sat in silence for a moment. It was a lot to take in.

"You need some time to think, I under-"

"I'll help you." Emily smiled.

"You will?" I asked, hopefully.

"Yeah, sure, let's go win this war. So, what do you want me to do, captain?" Emily laughed. She thought I was joking, that this was a game. It didn't really matter to me what she thought this was. If she was going to help me, it didn't matter.

"Just keep an eye out, for now, like you did today. I'll have other things soon...Oh, but I need a way of contacting you." I looked down at my phone, crushed on the bedside table.

"Oh! My parents got me a new phone recently. The old one still works, if you want it. It's a Blackberry. Wait right here, I'll get it." Emily rushed out of my room to go find her phone. That could be very useful. I didn't really need a phone...but I could re-purpose it...just in case.

The multi-agent was coming.
