"You ready to learn how to drive, kid?" Ralph asked Vanellope after everyone rose up from their sleep.

Vanellope was literally dancing with joy. "Yes! Yes, yes, yes!" She ran in a circle around Ralph and the kart, cheering, "I'm gonna learn to drive! I'm gonna learn to drive! I'm gonna—wait. Do you know how to drive?"

Ralph scoffed, "Uh…yeah! I mean, I haven't done it, but look, I flew a spaceship yesterday, okay?"

Vanellope's shoulder's drooped. "You crashed it," she droned.

"Just get in. How hard can it be?" Ralph picked Vanellope up by her hood and plopped her into the driver's seat.

"This is gonna end badly…" Katie whispered to Riku.

"Maybe you should teach her," Riku whispered back.

Katie shrugged. "Eh, I'll step in if something doesn't look good."

"Just gonna stand on the sidelines?" Sora asked.

"Yep."

The kart's engine suddenly roared and was revved. Ralph smiled at Vanellope. "There you go. Okay, now—"

"There's so much stuff in here!" Vanellope exclaimed.

"Don't start touching things yet—"

Vanellope started to push every button on the dash and everything else that was inside the kart. She turned on the lights. "What's that?"

"Those would be the lights," said Roxas.

"And what's this?" Vanellope honked the horn and held it.

"That's the horn…" Ralph groaned when Vanellope kept her hand on the horn, "Yeah, that's still the horn…"

"I like the horn." Vanellope told him with a smile.

Ralph growled irritably. "Listen, we got work to do!"

"Sorry!" Vanellope stopped. Her focus went back to him.

Ralph pointed at the pedals. "So there's some buttons on the floor..."

"Pedals!" Katie corrected.

"Pedals…right…" Ralph pushed the accelerator. "…Now that's the go pedal…" he then pushed the brake. "And that, I believe the stopper…" then he pushed the clutch. He raised an eyebrow to see it didn't do anything. "Wait, what is this?" Ralph pushed it again. "It doesn't do anything." He picked up the kart and looked closely at the pedals. He started to playing with them, trying to figure out what it does.

"What's this joystick do?" Vanellope pushed on the gear shift and the kart lurched forward, dragging Ralph with it.

Ralph landed flat on his face. "Ow!"

The Keybladers ran up to him. Riku and Render helped Ralph up while Sora asked him, "You okay?"

"Yeah…" Ralph's attention went back to Vanellope. "Good. Let's try that again."

"Umm…." Katie went over to Vanellope and apologized to Ralph, "I'm sorry to butt in here but I think it'll be better off if someone with driving experience taught a lesson on driving, yes?" She quickly added, "So that nobody gets hurt!"

Ralph thought for a second and asked Vanellope, "Do you mind if she takes over for a bit?"

"I don't care! As long as I learn how to race!" Vanellope chirped. She went for the joystick again.

But Katie stopped her by swatting her hand away. "Let's not start there…"

"Why not?! It's what made me go!"

"Because you should know what everything does before you start crashing into stuff!"

As Katie and Vanellope bickered, Ralph said to Roxas, "Oh, boy, this'll be fun."

It took many tries for Katie to teach Vanellope on how to control her kart. From motion steering beside Vanellope to even pushing the kart to guide Vanellope through an obstacle course. The gang could tell that she was starting to get irritated with Vanellope because she didn't listen to all of her instructions.

"Okay, now slowly take your foot off the clutch…" Katie said to Vanellope when she shifted into first gear. She smiled when Vanellope's kart moved forward slowly yet smoothly.

"Hey, I think she got it." Ralph jumped up from where he was sitting and ran up to the slowly moving kart. "Shift it again!"

Katie smiled at Ralph and backed away, letting him enjoy the moment. "Have fun."

Vanellope looked up at Ralph and said with enthusiasm in her voice, "I did, didn't I?" She made it around the track for the first time that day. She shifted it again, this time perfectly. She zoomed off, leaving Ralph in the dust. She twisted in the seat and waved at them. "I told ya, racing's in my code!" She drifted around the corner of the track. She was going faster and faster as she continued around the track.

"Keep your eyes on the road!" Katie yelled at her.

Ralph repeated it as it were his own advice, "Keep your eyes on the road!"

"Hey guys, watch this! I'm going off road!" She jumped the track then drove right up a steep, natural ramp. She jumped a part of broken track and landed perfectly. She makes another jump, perfect.

Ralph was bouncing up and down. "I got this medal in the bag!"

Vanellope went up the uncompleted ramp above the hot springs. She drove off it to make the long jump to the other side. She was going to make it!

Then all of the sudden, she glitched. Her kart glitched about in the air, out of control. She was headed right for the stalactite. She screamed as the stalactite got closer.

Riku yelled, "Look out!" He was about to activate his abandoned Flowmotion to go help Vanellope…

But Vanellope ducked her head just in time. However, the spoiler of her kart whacked onto the stalactite of Mentos. She glitched again and crash landed on the track on the other side. Giant chunks of Mentos fell into the hot springs. Geysers shot up, making Ralph jump out of the way of the boiling cola falling around him and the Keyblade Masters and Wielder to scatter until it stopped raining boiling cola. Vanellope kept spinning out of control. She skidded to a stop. She looked spooked, but then she shook it off. "So, how'd I do?"

"You almost blew up the mountain." Render huffed.

Vanellope nodded. "Right, right, that's a good note…" she hopped out of her kart.

Ralph pointed at her as he scolded, "You've got to get that glitch under control, kid!"

Vanellope raised her hands up in her defense. "Okay, okay! I will, I will!" She paused and asked him, "Then do you think I have a chance?"

Ralph contemplated for a moment. He made a small space between his pinched thumb and index finger. "Tiny."

Vanellope made an excited squeal. She jumped up and around Ralph shouting, "Yes! I'm gonna win! I'm gonna win! I'm gonna win! I'm gonna win!"

Ralph finally gave into her enthusiasm. "Top shelf."

"Top shelf!" Vanellope chirped. She jumped to fist bump Ralph large fist.

"Didn't you say that the race in the afternoon, Vanellope?" Riku asked.

Vanellope's eyes widened. "Aw, shoot! I forgot!" She ran back over to her kart. "Come on, come on! We gotta get going!"

Vanellope came running out of the mountain's secret door. Ralph and the others came out behind her, but more calmly. Ralph, Sora, and Riku were pushing the kart out. Vanellope was skipping around merrily. "Come on guys! This is it. This is really happening. I almost don't believe it. I mean, I have dreamt about it for so long, and now..." Vanellope put her fist on her lips and held onto her stomach. "…Now I think I'm gonna puke, actually. I mean I think I might puke. You know, like a verp?"

Render raised an eyebrow. "Verp?" he repeated.

"Vomit and a burp together, and you can taste it, and it's just like rising up..." Vanellope stopped and started to jump up and down again. "Oh this is so exciting!"

"Yes! It is. It's very exciting!" said Sora.

Then Vanellope started to doubt herself. "I mean, am I ready to be a real racer? Ralph, what if the gamers don't like me?!"

Ralph scoffed and told her, "Who doesn't love a brat with dirty hair? Come on, those people are gonna love you. You know why? Because you're a winner."

"I'm a winner." Vanellope repeated with wonder in her voice.

"And you're adorable." Ralph added.

Vanellope started to get her excited bounce back. "I'm adorable!"

"And everyone loves an adorable winner!" Ralph concluded.

Now Vanellope's confidence was back. "Yeah!"

Ralph chuckled, "Okay, come on." Vanellope laughed and hopped in her kart. Ralph climbed on the back. "Listen to me: if you get nervous, just keep telling yourself: 'I must win Ralph's medal or his life will be ruined'."

Katie lightly smacked Ralph on the arm. She added for him, "And have fun. Got it?"

"Got it! Come on, guys, let's go!" Vanellope waited for Katie to make her Light Cycle appear and the Keyblade Masters and Wielder to get on it. They started to give off. Then suddenly, Vanellope hit the brakes. "Oh, wait! I forgot something!" She hopped out of her kart and yelled over her shoulder, "I'll be right back!" she ran back through the secret entrance.

As they waited, Riku asked Render, "Render, I'm sorry to ask this but can you go put these back in the Tardis? I totally forgot to do it last night after our…discussion," he handed Render the shot he gave Katie the day before. "But if you don't want to—"

"No, no. It's okay. I got it." Render took the shot away from Riku and hopped off the Light Cycle.

Katie gave him a puzzled look. "Where you going?"

"I'm putting this thing back." Render held up the Epi-Pen.

"Oh, then here! I don't use this old thing anymore so you can have it." Katie tapped on the side of the Light Cycle and a piece of banged up and rusted armor popped out. She tossed it to Render. "It's my old armor. With it, you can summon a glider, 'kay?"

Render put on the armor on his shoulder and wielded his Keyblade, Dark Descent, and tossed it into the air. With a flash of light, it turned into an old glider that resembled a skateboard. He hopped on it and struggled to find his balance. When he found it, he mumbled, "Thanks. I'll be right back." He took off. It was only a handful of seconds until Render disappeared out of sight.

Riku heard sound of the engine. It wasn't Vanellope's kart. He turned and his eyes darted at who he saw. "Aren't you…?"

Ralph hummed in confusion at Riku voice and turned around to see who it was.

It was King Candy. King Candy waved at them and hopped out of his kart, "Ralph, there you are! Hello!"

"You!" Ralph yelled angrily.

"Now, I came alone. Unarmed. Whoa—" King Candy ducked as a boulder flew over his head.

Ralph stomped his way towards King Candy. "I've had enough of you, Pillow Pants!" He chased the king around a giant gum drop.

Katie and the others hopped off the Light Cycle to go after Ralph. "Whoa, whoa, Ralph! Calm down!"

"Yes, listen to the girl, Ralph! Calm down! Calm down!" King Candy yelped as he scrambled to get away from Ralph.

"I'm gonna beat the filling out of you!" Ralph threatened.

King Candy backed away from Ralph and grabbed Katie's glasses off of her face to put them on himself.

"Hey!" Riku yelled.

"You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses, would you?" King Candy asked Ralph. Ralph grabbed the glasses off of his face and knocked King Candy on the head with them. He tossed them back to Katie, who had a difficult time of grabbing them since she couldn't see. King Candy continued, "Oh you hit a guy with glasses, well played."

Ralph grabbed King Candy by his lapels. "What do you want, Candy?"

"For you to close your mouth. Your breath..." King Candy coughed. "Listen, I just want to talk to you."

"I'm not interested in anything you have to say," Ralph growled.

"How about this? Are you interested in this?" King Candy held up a gold medal that said 'hero' and had a deep blue ribbon.

Shocked to see it, Ralph dropped King Candy. "My medal…how'd you—?"

"It doesn't matter. It's yours." King Candy handed the medal to Ralph. "All I ask is to hear me out…"

Ralph stared at the medal as he considered, "…About what?"

"Ralph, do you know what the hardest part about being a King is? Doing what's right, no matter what."

Ralph glared at King Candy. "Get to the point."

"Point being, I need your help. Sad as it is, Vanellope cannot be allowed to race—"

Roxas growled at King Candy, "What is up with you people having some kind of grudge against Vanellope?"

King Candy looked shocked and rose his hands up. "I'm not against her!" he confessed. "I'm just trying to protect her."

"From what?" Katie spat, "The most danger I see for Vanellope is you."

King Candy made a slightly nervous laugh at Katie's remark before he answered, "If Vanellope wins that race, she'll be added to the Race Roster. Then gamers can choose her as their avatar. And when they see her glitching and twitching and just being herself..." he sighed then continued, "They'll think our game is broken. We'll be put out of order, for good. All my subjects will be homeless. But there's one who cannot escape, because she's a glitch. And when the game's plug is pulled, Vanellope'll die with it."

Ralph's eyes filled with horror picturing what King Candy just said.

"You don't know that'll happen. The gamers could love her," said Riku.

"And if they don't?" King Candy asked.

The group looked at the ground, not able to say anything else.

King Candy voice interrupted their thoughts, "I know it's tough. But heroes have to make the tough choices, don't they? She can't race, Ralph. But she won't listen to me. So, can I count on you to talk a little sense into her?"

Riku scanned King Candy's face, he felt like the King was hiding something from them. Before Riku could say anything, Ralph made a pained nod.

"Very good... Now, I'll give you guys some time alone." King Candy got back into his kart and disappeared around the bend.

Ralph stared at the medal. He heard Vanellope returning. He stood, bracing himself, and put the medal in his pocket.

"I'm back. Did you miss me?" Vanellope chirped. She scanned the group. "Where's blue-hair?"

"He went to do something." Katie mumbled.

"Can we talk for a second?" Ralph asked Vanellope.

Vanellope stopped Ralph with her hand. "Wait. First, kneel down."

"W-what? No, no, we really need to—"

"Would you just do it?" Vanellope snapped.

Ralph sighed and kneeled down. "Okay…"

"Now close your eyes."

"Vanellope…"

"Shush. Close 'em!" Vanellope yelled.

Ralph closed his eyes and felt something go around his neck. He opened his eyes to a small, handmade candy heart on a string, on which is hand-painted the words he read, "To Stink Brain…gee, thanks…"

"Turn it around!"

Ralph turned the candy heart in his palm and on the back were painted the words: "You're my Hero."

"I made it for you, just in case we don't win. Not that I think there's even a remote chance we're not gonna win."

This was killing Ralph. "Thanks kid, um listen—"

Vanellope interrupted him, "Now rise, my royal chump! I've got a date with destiny!" She frowned when Ralph didn't move. "Ralph, come on, move your molasses!"

Ralph bit his lower lip. "Um, I've been thinking…"

Vanellope laughed. "Now that's dangerous." She went over to check her kart.

"Who cares about this stupid race, anyway?"

Vanellope snorted, "That's not very funny, Ralph."

"Vanellope, he's being serious." Katie chipped in.

"I-I mean it was fun and all making the kart with you but I really don't think you should do it." Ralph stammered.

That caught Vanellope's attention. "Ah, hello? Is Ralph in there? I'd like to speak to him please."

"Look, what I'm saying is, you can't be a racer," Ralph said behind clenched teeth.

Vanellope's eyes down Ralph's chest and her eyes narrowed when she saw something. "What the—" she pulled out the medal out of Ralph's pocket. She stared at the medal, "Wait a minute. Where did you get this?"

"Look, I'm gonna be straight with you; I've been talking to King Candy—"

"King Candy?!" Vanellope exclaimed. "You sold me out?!"

"No, he didn't sell you out, Vanellope!" Sora explained.

Vanellope stared at him. Then the rest of the Keyblade Masters. "You guys were in this too!?"

"You don't understand—"

"I understand completely," Vanellope threw the medal at Ralph. "Ya traitor." It hit him in the face and fell to the ground. She jumped back in the kart. "You're a rat. And I don't need you! I don't need any of you! I can win that race on my own."

"But I'm trying to save your skin, kid!" Ralph grabbed her and picked her up out of the kart.

"Hey! Put me down!" Vanellope screamed.

He sets her down. She immediately made a dash for the kart. Ralph blocked her way. She struggled to get around him. "No, you listen to me. You know what's gonna happen when the players see you glitching? They're gonna think the game's broken."

"I don't care, you're a liar!" Vanellope screamed.

"You better care, because if your game goes out of order, you go down with the ship, little sister!" Ralph tried to reason with Vanellope.

"I'm not listening to you! Get out of my way!" Vanellope goes under his legs and after her kart. "I'm going to that race," she growled.

Ralph pulled Vanellope out again and held her by the scruff. She thrashed around and kicked at him. "No, you're not." He hung her by her hood on the edge of a pointy gumdrop branch.

"Ralph, get me down from here right now!" Vanellope yelled.

Ralph spun around. "I'm doing this for your own good!" He went over to the kart and raised his fists.

She struggled to get free but can't. "Wait. Wait. Wait. No. No. No. Please, Ralph! No! Stop!"

"Ralph, don't!" Riku yelled.

Ralph smashed the kart and destroyed it.

Vanellope sobbed and glitched off the branch to the ground. Katie put her hand on her back and patted it as she cried. The kart was in ruins. Vanellope said to Ralph heartbrokenly, "You really are a bad guy…" She ran, sobbing, into the mountain entrance.

Ralph hung his head and sighed. He then walked away from the group, walking a long lonely road alone.

"He didn't have to do that…" Roxas mumbled. He turned back to mountain to go after Vanellope. One by one, the other Masters followed Vanellope.

Katie watched Ralph disappear on the horizon and sighed. She turned to return to the mountain after she made her Cycle go back to its stick form but stopped when she heard a hum of a motorcycle engine. She yelled in pain when she felt the sudden shock through her body. She crashed to the floor, spasming to the shock coming through her back.

Riku ran out of the mountain to Katie's yell. His eyes widened when he saw Katie lying on the ground, twitching. Standing over her was one of the donut police officers that he saw in the factory. There was a stun gun in his hand. "Hey!" Before Riku could advance on him, the officer stunned him too. It took three times to get him to fall down.

"Go into the mountain. Make sure you get everybody." That sounded like King Candy but Riku never confirmed it. He blacked out.
