"Happy New Year!" Aunt May exclaimed, raising her glass in the air.
The rest of the party attender cheered loudly. Some of them grabbed their partners and kissed each other soundly.
Peter placed his hands on Gwen's cheeks gently, and kissed her gently. He felt her lips curl into a smile under his, and he snorted, trying to hold in a laugh. They kissed for a few more seconds, but finally pulled apart.
"I have a feeling it's gonna be a great year," Gwen whispered.
"Definitely better than 2016," Peter replied jokingly "I mean, we lost David Bowie and Carrie Fisher."
"And we started dating."
"That was pretty terrific."
He leaned in and kissed her again, this time a little less gently. His hands ran all over her back as he pulled her as close to him as he could.
"KEEP IT PG," Aunt May yelled, sloshing her drink.
"Sorry, Aunt May," Peter replied, amusement ringing in his voice.
He grabbed Gwen's hand, and pulled her from the party. They entered his bedroom, and Gwen plopped down on Peter's bed. The sound of fireworks echoed throughout the room.
"You know, 2016 did have some pretty bad parts," Gwen said solemnly.
"Like what?"
"Like that cringey Mariah Carey performance! What the hell was that?"
"I became an official member of the Avengers! That's awesome!"
"I know right?"
"Tony was an ass to those Barton kids though."
Gwen shook her head sympathetically, but her frown turned upside-down quickly.
"I found out you played the guitar!"
"Wanda and Vision can't be together."
"That was pretty sad, but we met Jessica and she's one of our closest friends."
"Remember when Tony sang Taylor Swift at our school?"
"And when you met the Queen of England? And how you sang eighties music to defeat a group of terrorists?"
"My singing abilities are pretty terrible, so that makes sense."
"I've been so proud of you, Peter. You've been so amazing. Like when you defeated Franny and saved all those poor girls?"
"I felt pretty good after that. It was kind of cool going undercover."
"Can I tell you my favorite story from this year?"
"Yeah."
Gwen smiled slyly, and grabbed peter, pushing him down onto the bed. She crawled up next to him, her blonde hair falling around her face. Gently kissing the tip of his nose, Gwen giggled. Peter shut his eyes, and sighed deeply. Gwen placed a hand on his chest slowly.
"Your heart is going pretty fast."
Peter nodded slowly.
"I have to say my favorite story was the one where—"
She placed a kiss on his neck.
"You hang from the damn ceiling because you thought Tony wanted to lecture you about puberty!"
Peter sat up as Gwen started laughing hysterically.
"Oh my god, he told you that story?"
"Yup!"
"Oh crap. What a way to ruin the mood!"
Gwen laughed even more.
"I can't believe you did that!"
"It wasn't might brightest moment."
"Good thing you're so cute!"
"Thanks. You're pretty cute yourself."
They both fell back onto the bed, cuddling.
"I wonder what's going to happen," Peter said softly "This year, I mean."
"I don't know," Gwen replied, staring up at the ceiling.
"Are you scared?"
"A little bit. You?"
"Hell, yeah."
They lay there in silence for several more minutes.
"Uh, Peter?"
"Yeah?"
"Should we do something about Aunt May?"
"Wh—what?"
Suddenly, the sound of Aunt May singing a horrible rendition of Footloose sounded through his ears.
"Uh, yeah. She did have a quite a bit to drink."
He jumped off of the bed, planting a quick kiss on Gwen's lips.
"Happy New Year, Gwen."
"Happy New Year, Spiderman."
Hey Everyone! HAPPY 2017! Wow! Another year has passed! It all went by so quickly!
I'd really like to thank every single beautiful soul that has followed this story! I think there's over a hundred of you. Imagine that? A hundred people reading this story! Words cannot express the deep gratitude I feel. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! I wish you all the happiness in the world this upcoming year.
I do want to dedicate this chapter to someone very special to me . . . Ms. Carrie Fisher. Not only was she Princess Leia, she was a writer and activist for people struggling with mental illness. Her death was so sad because she represented a group that sometimes does not have an extremely loud voice. She inspired me to be unashamed about my mental health, and I hope she inspired you all too.
I am considering starting a Star Wars fanfiction. I don't know how many of you like Star Wars, but I am sure some of you do. If you like Leia and Han and Luke and Rey and all the rest, consider reading it when it gets published.
Alright. Enough of that.
Please Follow/Favorite/Review! I have made a resolution to update more, and those three things will help me keep it.
Much love to all of you!
