Hello everyone! My first upload didn't go so well so I'm hoping this one goes better... Anyways... I'm back! I just got back from serving a mission for my church (LDS) in Colorado. I absolutely loved it but I wasn't able to work on this while I was out. I hope you all can forgive me! But now that I'm back, I'm hoping to get it finished before I head back to college.

Interlude Part Two: His Angel

Nicolette

"Nicolette, I love you," he says confidently and with a smile.

My eyes shoot to his face and I'm utterly speechless. "But C-Christine?"

"I love you, Nicolette. Christine has made her choice and I have made mine." A blush rises to his unmasked cheek. "May I ask how you feel of me, Nicolette?"

"I love you too," I murmur in return and he kisses me again. As I close my eyes, I then see Edward staring at me in my memories and realize how much more dangerous this makes everything. Erik notices the shift and pulls back.

"What's wrong?"

"What about Edward?" I murmur. "I'm sure he'll be fighting me in all of this."

"Ah, yes. Him. He is becoming quite a pain." His face has hardened again and I want it to go back to the relaxed and youthful version of him that I saw only a few moments ago. I squeeze his hand.

"But we don't have to worry about that right now," I tell him softly. He smiles at me.

"You're right. Now, you must be freezing." He removes his jacket and wraps it around my bare shoulders. I lift my hands to keep it in place.

"Thank you," I murmur.

He smiles. "Of course. I don't want you freezing and we must protect your voice."

I shake my head at him with a laugh and then his arm comes around my waist as we continue to watch the sun rise over Paris. It's beautiful and I lean into him as we watch.

"I can't believe you're here," he says and I look over to see him smiling. "I've stood up here watching others so many times."

He turns me to him and begins to sing and I recognize it as the tune I heard earlier as I walked up here.

So many times out here

I've watched a happy pair

Of lovers walking in the night

They had a kind of glow around them

It almost looked like heaven's light

I knew I'd never know

That warm and loving glow

Though I might wish with all my might

No face as hideous as my face

Was ever meant for heaven's light

But suddenly an angel has smiled at me

And kissed my cheek without a trace of fright

I dare to dream that she

Might even care for me

And as I ring these bells tonight

My cold dark tower seems so bright

I swear it must be heaven's light

"It is," I agree softly. "I do care for you. Look with your heart and when it finds love, your heart will be right."

He smiles and kisses me one last time. His hand comes to my cheek and I cover it with mine.

"Come, we must return. Those fools who run my theatre will be missing you."
