Window
He was the laziest person she had ever come across, but he possessed her heart. She simply didn't imagine that they will eventually come to this.
There had been several times that she had been in the Nara house. Their fathers, as long time best friends are one of the obvious reason that she was a regular visitor here. With quick long strides, she walked the pathway towards his chamber.
"Hey." She greeted the fourteen year old cloud watcher. She found him in his bed looking at the big window in front of him.
Shikamaru gave her a glance to acknowledge her presence and nodded at the space beside him. She gladly sat beside him as she followed his lead and looked outside the window.
The view was picturesque, the sky stretched across the horizon, in streaks of blue and orange. The clouds were in shades of orange, yellow and red for the sun was beginning to set. They hung low just enough to cover the tad green Nara forest. The silhouettes they project were beautiful; it was able to capture a bit of everything bliss.
"Ino..."
She took her breathe as he turned to her. She stopped him, placing her hand on his lips, his eyes already said it all. His eyes mirrored the same emotion that she has.
There were both feelings of longing and something that can never be. He has her heart and she has his, she hoped that she was right. Gone were the days, she was hoping desperately for her prince will come, he is now right here, with her.
But as luck was giving them, it was not just yet.
He reached for her hand and held it as they turned again towards the window and watched the day turn into the night.
"It's ironic isn't it?" She said softly, mostly to herself. "I thought they will be happy for us." Their clans' reaction was something she didn't anticipate.
Shikamaru looked at her sadly, and squeezed her right hand. "They had our best intention in mind."
Her eyes flashed, she couldn't believe he would simply accept that.
"But Shika..."
"We will always have us." He smiled at her, reassuringly, his eyes staring keenly at her; the longing and yearning were still there.
She understood; it was just not right now.
Not yet... but...
"The window will always be open, Ino. We just missed it for now."
