The Living Vampire
Jason had been trying to find some way to contact Doctor Mao Morbious but to no avail. And the teen had been looking for signs of the Doc in the sewers each night for the last few days with no success.
Jason currently was on Air Temple Island, visiting his family since he hasn't had much time to spend with them as of late. He was fallowing Tenzin towards the Skybison caves with a basket of food in his hands.
"Any luck trying to find this Doctor Morbious?" he asked, making the teen shake his head. The master Airbender gave him a sympathetic look, "Give it time Jason. You'll find a way to help Doctor Chapal." he said encouragingly as they walked down the cliff face of the island.
Jason sighed, "Uncle Ten, every second he's down there his head just gets more primal. And that means he'll get more territorial, and if people start disappearing..." he trailed off.
The man nodded, "It's true that the sooner we fix him the better. But the council is already talking-"
"Let me guess, the Kingpin wants him killed, am I right?" he asked, referring to Tarrlock. It still irked the teen to no end that the man had managed to slip out of his accusation. But with that stupid silver tongue of his, he made almost everyone think that he was set up by Spider-Man.
Almost being the operative word.
Tenzin sighed, "Jason you can't let rumors form your opinion of a man." he said wisely as they entered the caves where Oogi and his other bison lived. Usually they stayed in the caves during the cold winter, they could survive in the cold no doubt, but it was more comfortable for them in the caves.
Jason looked at the monk like he grew two heads, "Even when he is the definition of a complete and utter a-...jerk face." he said, catching himself before he swore when he saw the look Tenzin was giving him.
"As much as Tarrlock is power hungry, I can't imagine him being the Kingpin." the man stated firmly. He's known Tarrlock for years, and as extreme his methods may be, he does want what's best for the city.
Jason wanted to speak up but knew better, Ava taught him to respect other people's opinions. So until Tarrlock was shown as who he really was, it was a fruitless endeavor to talk about it. "Well we can both agree he is a jerk."
"Oh of course." Tenzin said as they approached the trough and poured the vegetables in.
Jason smiled as the bison came over to get their food, "So how's Aunt Pem? I haven't been around a pregnant woman before so what should I expect?" the teen asked as they headed back towards the Cliffside.
"A need to get up and do something even when I don't want her to do. And of course, cravings." he said in a ominous tone.
Jason gulped, "What month is it?" the teen asked.
"April." the monk replied.
"How many more to go?" Jason asked.
Tenzin's face dropped, "Too many." he said plainly.
Jason gulped as they walked towards the temple, "Makes me glad that me and Akiko don't...do that." he said, his cheeks tinging pink at the thought of Akiko and him-
"Jason," Tenzin started, knocking the teen out of his trance. "You do know that it's completely...natural to think of that." he said awkwardly. Jason wanted to run back to the cliff and jump into the water to avoid this talk, but he's been through worse...right?
"I gotta say, kinda weird hearing this from a monk." the teen commented. "Aren't you supposed to be telling me to fight my teenage hormones or something?" the teen asked skeptically.
The man rolled his eyes, "That's a old wise tale. Air Nomads believe that love is one of the things that no one has control over." he explained. He gave the teen a stern look, "That doesn't mean I'm giving you permission to...express yourselves anywhere on the island." he stated firmly.
Jason swore his face was red as his costume, "Don't worry Uncle Ten, as long as there are children on this island, I won't even think of it." he said reassuringly, making the monk smile.
"Glad to hear it Jason." he said as they both walked towards the main house.
Though this is coming from the guy whose had four kids in the span of about twelve years. the teen thought smugly.
As the two entered the home, the three children zoomed up towards them, "Hi Jason, hi daddy." they said at the same time, all with a big grin. It was clear they wanted something.
Jason and Tenzin shared a look, the two looked down at the kids, "What do you guys want?" Jason asked.
Jinora looked to her siblings, each giving her a nod before they all turned to their father and cousin, "Can we go to the Festival of Night? Pleeeeeasssseeee?" they all pleaded to the two.
The Festival of of Night was one of the largest holidays of the year. At night, everyone dresses up in a costume of their choice and go out to receive treats from others. It celebrates
Tenzin pinched the bridge of his nose, "I'm sorry kids, but with I have work and I don't like your mother in the city alone. Plus the sugar alone-" he was about to add.
"Wait a second Uncle Ten," Jason interrupted as he pulled his uncle off to the side, leaving the kids in utter suspense. When he was sure they couldn't hear them he looked at Tenzin, "If you want, me and Akiko could take them out." he offered to the monk.
Tenzin raised a eye at the teen's offer, "Are you sure? I'd think that you and Akiko would want to spend the night with each other." he guessed.
Jason merely shrugged, "Aki loves the munchkins. If not I can take them." he explained to the man. "Plus I need something to do while I wait to hear back from the doctor's assistan." he added.
Tenzin scratched his beard as he rolled the idea over in his head. Jason was responsible without a doubt, and the kids haven't been off the island with him before. "I'll talk to Pema about it. But you have my approval on the matter." he said, giving the teen his consent.
Jason smiled, "Good...now let's get back before they're heads explode." the teen said, looking over to see that their faces may be stuck in a pleading look.
…
Jason hit the buttons on his typewriter at a moderate speed, Pema agreed to let the teen's take the children into the city. The kids where ecstatic to learn that they where going to be able to enter the city.
Jason was going to meet up with Akiko after work to talk about taking the kids to the festival. It was two days away so they had enough time to prepare and talk about it. "You sure you don't want any? I mean you've been addicted to this stuff since you came here." Whitney said, offering a cup of coffee.
Jason looked up from his typewriter and shook his head, "Nah. I'm trying to break that habit. I need to have a clear, uncaffinated head." he explained.
Jason has been wanting to quit his coffee addiction for a while now, but the Lizard thing demanded that he stayed awake for as long as he could. He hit a low when he was fighting Chapal and couldn't risk that happening again.
Whitney shrugged, "Alight. Suit yourself, more for me." she said as she took a sip of his drink. "So, any plans for the Festival of Nights? Date with the girlfriend?" she asked.
Jason rolled his eyes, Whitney you are way to interested in my personal life. he thought silently to himself. "I offered to take some little kids candy gathering. I'm gonna ask her if she wants to help me and tag along." the teen explained as he pushed the paper of the typewriter back into position.
Whitney smiled, "Awwww, cute." she coo'ed, making the teen blush, "I'm going to report on that asteroid that crashed in the earth kingdom. They say it's making the grass around it dead or something weird." she explained.
Jason's face shifted from embarrassed to surprised, "Woah, wait. Seriously! Man, I am so jealous." he admitted truthfully. The day before last, a large asteroid crashed into the plains of the earth kingdom, a small team of scientists where already there.
"Yeah yeah, big fricking rock in the middle of nowhere. Great way to end my run here." she said as she set her arms on her desk.
Jason raised a eye, "What? Are you quitting?" he asked with some concern in his voice. Part of the reason he lived working at the Marvel was because Whitney was there, she's like a big sister to him. The streetwise, funny, and partly pa verged sister he always wanted growing up.
The woman smiled, "RCR offered me a job as radio hostess, Shiro quit and moved to the Pro-Bending circuit recently. Me and Stan where talking about it yesterday, this is my last report then I go on." she explained to the teen.
Jason smiled, "So now everyone all over the city will hear what Whitney Chang will have to say...God help us all." he joked, eating a eraser being thrown at him. "Seriously though, I'm happy for you." he said truthfully.
Whitney smirked as she rose from her seat, "Hey don't get all sappy on me. I got a going away party in a few days that your going to attend here." she said as she began her walk away.
Jason smiled as she walked away, Whitney may be a little brash. But she tells it how it is, and that's what the city really needs right now. he thought as he continued typing on his machine.
A few minutes later, the elevator opened to the top floor, Akiko stuck her head out of the box and looked around. She was nearly ran over by a cart on the last floor she thought was the top one and didn't want to make the same mistake again.
The stepped out of the metal box and saw her boyfriend packing up his things, he looked up to see her looking around the floor like a curious little kid. Jason smiled as he walked up behind her as she looked at some of the framed newspaper front pages.
The teen crept up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, "Hey beautiful, what's someone like you doing at a place like this?" he asked as she turned in his arms with a smile on her face.
"Looking for my dork of a boyfriend. Have you seen him?" she asked before returning the hug. When the pulled away, Akiko glanced around the office, "I know you told me that this place is busy. But I thought you where being dramatic." she said as one of a couriers passed them.
Jason shrugged as he led her towards the elevator, "Yep, busy as a bee hive. Come on let's get out of here." he said as he leased the down button.
Akiko shook her head as she pulled in his arm away from the elevator, "Oh no, you're giving me a lift to our date." she protested as she yanked him towards the door to the stairway.
"What? Why?" he asked as he went up the stairwell.
"I was nearly hit by a cart." she said simply, as though it have her reason enough. "Now suit up and swing us there." she urged as she oped the door to the rooftop and exited the building.
"Do you know how expensive web fluid is? A lot." the teen said.
Akiko rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless, "You have no room to talk like that." she said, pointing her finger accusingly at him.
"I'm just not sure of I'm comfortable crossing that boundary with you just yet." he admitted jokingly to the girl.
Akiko leaned in close to him face, "What boundaries? We have little if any boundaries." she stated. Jason opened his mouth to retort but couldn't find a valid reason, he shared everything with Aki. And it was starting to come back to bite him in the butt.
"Fine, but you owe me web fluid money." he said as he started to change into his Spider suit. As he did, Akiko turned so he had a little privacy, "So...you know how that festival is in two days?" he started.
The girl chuckled, "Yea, it is kinda of a big deal after all." she spoke as she glanced over her shoulder at him as he pulled his shirt off over his head.
"Well I offered to take the airbending kids candy collecting and they said yes. You wanna come along?" he asked, making Akiko turn fully to him with a big grin.
"Are you joking? Of course! I was planning on going out myself and seeing if you'd tag along." she admitted. "Besides, someone has to collect all that candy...mmhhhh." she said, her mouth watering at the thought of large chocolate bars.
Jason quirked a eye, "Aki. Your seventeen." he stated.
She smirked, "Yeah, I kinda guessed that from how tall I've gotten." she said sarcastically. Jason opened his mouth, "And before you say anything, you have absolutely no room to judge. You swing around the city in a costume all day showing off your powers to people." she added with a look of triumph.
Jason remained silent for a minute, "I am a horrible influence on you aren't I?" he asked. Aki sticking her tongue out just confirmed his guess. "Your lucky I love you so much or this wouldn't be happening." he said, thinking out loud and realizing it to late.
Both their faces flushed, Akiko suddenly found her shoes interesting, "So...how's the search for the doctor going?" she asked, getting off the awkward silence train.
Jason sighed as he put his gloves on, "It's going, don't get me wrong, but the guy is so far off the grid, it's like he never existed." he explained. It was true, Morbious either is dead or intentionally hiding from something, but either way, Jason needed his help to cure Chapal.
That and he was getting tired of the stink of sewers.
"Why don't you call Nick Fury to help? Or another hero? Daredevil could help you out right? He's basically a human Wolf-bat isn't he?" she asked as Jason finished getting his suit on.
The teen rolled the idea over in his head for a moment, "That is actually a good idea. And it's basically a huge thing of caves down there, echolocation could help." he said as Akiko walked up to him and slid her arms around his neck from behind.
"Good to know you have a plan, now shut up and start swinging Tiger." she said with a smile as they moved to the ledge of the building.
"Spirits help us, I've created another monster." he muttered as he dropped down the side of the building. When he neared the street he shot a web to a nearby wall and shot into the air with the momentum he gained.
…
For their date, Jason and Akiko decided try a new food that was becoming very popular in the city. The two sat down at a small booth near the window and ordered, what Xang had called, a Pizza. As they waited, the two discussed what they should do with the airbending kids.
"Well we both know that they, and most likely you, will go candy collecting." Jason said, earning a light jab to the arm. "Hey I'm being realistic here. Look me in the eyes and tell me otherwise." the teen taunted lightly.
She turned to the teen and pouted, "Your mean you know that?" she asked.
He tilted his head, "I'm mean? Have I ever jabbed you? Or slugged your arm?" he asked with a laugh.
"We both know it doesn't hurt you." she said, siding closer in the seat and poking him in the chest lightly.
Jason averted his eyes, "Well...it hurts my feelings." he wearily provided.
Akiko rolled her eyes, "So what would it take for you to forgive me?" she asked with a playful smile.
As Jason thought about what she could do, their waitress came back around, "Here you go. Enjoy." she said, giving a wink to Jason. Waitaminute, did she just- Jason thought as he looked down to the new food then back to the waitress, then to Akiko.
"Did...what..." he asked, clearly confused. Akiko on the other hand was just amused, she had been hit on by a few guys before and during the time she's dated Jason. She was a little ticked by the fact that the waitress made a move towards her boyfriend when it was clear as day he was with her.
But the way Jason was looking like he just got decked by a random stranger. She patted his shoulder, "Hey, forget about your admirer and focus on the food." she said, tilting her head to the food.
They both looked down at the circular food, cut into eight slices that was covered with cheese, pepperoni, both on top of a large thing of baked dough. Jason and Akiko looked at each other before each picking up one of the slices and taking a small bite out of them.
"Oh...my god...this is delicious!" Akiko said as she took another bite. Jason could only nod for his mouth was full, the two dug into the food, two distracted by just how damn good it tasted.
"I think this is one of the best foods I've ever had in my life." Jason said as he grabbed another slice of the food.
Akiko and her boyfriend ate in silence, enjoying the food. When they completed the food, the couple leaned against one another with full bellies. "Ohhh...that was good." Akiko said, getting a nod of agreement from Jason.
Jason felt Akiko lay her head on his shoulder, his arm instinctively wrapped around her waist comfortably. "So...good date?" he asked.
The girl smiled as she slightly nodded, "Good date." she affirmed. Akiko glanced out the window to the setting sun, the citizens of the city going about their daily lives, paying the couple no mind from the outside. "We gotta come here more often."
Jason nodded, "Definitely." he said in agreement as their waitress came up to collect their dishes.
"Hope you enjoyed your meal, the check will be out shortly." she said as she lifted the pan off the table before she walked back towards the kitchen. Jason gave her thanks as she went away, as he looked back to the table, he saw a napkin with something written on it.
Before he could react, Akiko snatched it off the table and looked at the writing, after reading it over she face soured slightly. "What's wrong?" the teen asked. She handed him the napkin, inside was ten digits with the words, 'Call me.' in the napkin.
Jason was confused before, but me he was just plain gobsmacked. Much to Aki's amusement, despite the situation.
…
A woman with dark brown hair walked down the street towards her home. It had been a very long day and she wanted nothing more to do than to just lay down in her bed. As her heels clicked down the street, the shadows of the buildings stretched over her and the street she was on.
As she continued to walk towards her apartment building, she couldn't shake the feeling that she wasn't alone. She looked behind her to see the empty streets, "Get a grip, your just being paranoid." she said to herself as she kept walking.
The woman still could't shake the feeling, she felt like someone was right behind her. She kept glancing over her shoulders just to make sure she was alone, for reassurance. But with every turn of her head she felt less and less safe, so much so that her heart was pounding.
And he could hear it.
Her feet sped from a walk to a stride. The shadows never felt so cold in her life, the woman was turning around in full circles to see what was fallowing her. "Hello!? Where are you?!"
She stopped, staring down the way that she came from. The street was empty, she was completely and utterly alone, "Quit your yellin! I'm trying to sleep!" one of the buildings occupants yelled down to the streets.
The woman opened her mouth to yell up a apology to the man. But the sting of her neck being pierced stopped her.
She felt her eyes widen snd start to bulge, she tried to scream but whatever energy she had went to hitting whatever was doing this. "H-He..." was all she could let out before her eyes began to close.
Her body collapsed with a thud to the ground, the being's red eyes looked over the woman's dead body, his fangs dropped with blood as he let out a breath.
It's happened again.
…
"What a bout a fish?" Akiko asked, trying to suggest another pet that Jason could own. After leaving the restaurant, the girl had mentioned that she thought of getting one of the lemurs from the Island as a pet if she could.
And now she was trying to think of a pet that Jason could own with little need to care for. "Nope, got a goldfish wen I was six, died the night we brought it home." he said, recalling the day he won one at a fair.
Akiko let out a snort, "Ok, that's horrible, but funny at the same time." she stated truthfully.
Jason smirked, "Trust me, wasn't funny for Mr. Bubbles." he said.
Akiko slightly frowned at that, "Aw...now I feel like a ass." she said.
"Your not a ass. Tarrlock is a ass, your the girl who supports me lovingly everyday. Two completely different things." Jason said, taking her hand in his as they turned the street corner.
"Well...unless Tarrlock-"
"Finish that sentence and I will hang you upside down for a hour." the teen said in a even voice.
Before she could reply, the sight of flashing red and blue lights caught her attention, "Hey, check it out." she said with a nudge.
Jason fallowed her gaze and sighed, "I swear, every single time we go out to have a nice time something like this happens. It's really starting to get on my nerves." he said with a agitated voice.
He turned to the girl and gave her a apologetic look. "Uhhhhh..." he didn't exactly know to ask Aki to let him do his thing.
She sighed as she crossed her arms, "I think you mean, 'Baby I'm sorry I have to work I'll make it up later. I love you and I'll give you whatever you want?'" she guessed with a smug look in her eyes.
Jason laughed nervously, "Heh heh...yeah along those lines...sorry." Jason apologized.
The girl rolled her eyes, "You'll make it up for me. I know." she said, a small smile growing on her face. Jason pecked her cheek before heading off to change into his Spider-Man suit.
The girl sighed as she continued on her walk home, she understood why Jason had to do what he did but it really did hurt his personal life. But he still tries for what it's worth. the girl thought as she continued on her way home.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man crawled along the wall down to the cordoned off area of the street. Down below a group of police officers gathered around the body of a young woman. "Just when you think you've seen it all huh?" one of them asked.
"What the hell does that? I mean she's got no blood in her veins, what could have happened to her?" another asked.
Jason raised a eye under his mask, No blood? What is this? A bad vampire book? the teen thought. Vampires where one of the fictional monsters that's been around for a while. The legend goes that a worshiper of Princess Yue, the Moon, offered a tainted sacrifice of a small bat to try and meet her.
In turn he was cursed, the sun burned his skin to a crisp of exposed and had to keep to the darkness of the night. He also had increased strength, could hypnotize people with his gaze, and turn into a bar and fly.
But most notably he feasted on human blood, and if one was bitten by a vampire and not drained, then they would turn into one as well. And the name of the first vampire was Dracula.
It was one of Jason's and Ava's favorite stories to this day.
Unfortunately, people have reinvented the whole idea of a Vampire in the past fifty years or so.
Now they sparkle in the sunlight and just brood over how bad their life is. Jason thought with a deadpanned look on his face at the thought.
The teen shook his head as he listen a little longer to the police before he crawled to the rooftop of the building, "Jeez, pull it together you gotta find who, or what, ever did it." he said to himself as he leapt to a water tower. He jumped towards a flagpole and swung on it before letting go and going airborne.
He shot a webline to a window frame and swung around the building and flew through the air. The sun fell down past the horizon as Jason swing through the city, "Ok O-rou, think, this guy must be pretty fast if he got out of the police's grasp." he muttered as he fell down towards the streets below.
He shot another line to his right, hooking it around a street lamp so that he swung directly up into the air. The teen sprawled his limbs out, letting the cooling air rush over him as he fired another line to the side of a building.
"And the guy was able to kill a woman in the middle of a street without anyone hearing a thing. Could this be Chapal?" he wondered aloud as his feet hit the wall of a building, his feet carrying across the expanse of brick.
"No, there hasn't been any sign of a giant Lizard since he went underground. Quite literally." he cracked lightly. Jason ran off the building and twirled through the air, shooting two webs from his web shooters, using them to steady himself as he swung above the streets.
Jason let go of thevwebs and fell down to a flagpole. "Great now I got a new mini monster to take care of. I bet Avatar Aang never had to deal with this crap." he muttered aloud.
The teen was about to spin another web before his Spider Sense went off in the base of his skull. The strange thing was that it was pointing straight up at the sky. "Oh what now! Flying giant wolves?" he asked as he looked up to see a dark figure zoom through the night sky.
"Since when does whatever I say happen? When was this when I told my mom I was gonna find away to fly when I was six?" he asked as he ran up the side of the building after the figure.
When he reached the rooftop, be looped over the edge to see the figure vault over the other down to the alley behind it. The teen ran to the ledge to see him the shadow he fallowed looking down on someone by a ledge of the building.
The being dropped behind the man, his feet not making a sound as he kept behind the man. He reached out to the man, "Excuse me, but I'm part of the neighborhood watch. And I'm afraid you look too much like the guy we put on our signs." a voice said, making both men in the alley look up to the wall where Spider-Man dropped down between the man and shadowed figure.
The man took a that as his que to run like a madman away from the two, Spider-Man watched briefly before turning to face his foe as he leapt over the teen. Jason turned on a heel to see the man...flying above him to the rooftop?!
"Hey wait up!" Spider-Man called out as he climbed up the wall quickly after him. The teen hopped atop the roof and sprinted towards the figure as it landed on the other side of roof. "Ok so who are you? Let me guess, the Shadow? Oh wait I got it, Nightflyer?" the teen mocked.
The figure let out a hiss as the moon began to rise above the tops of buildings. The light shined from Jason's section of roof, stretching across the expanse of the ground, over the chimneys of apartments and air conditioners.
The light passed over the figure, revealing the black tight bodysuit. From the physique it was a man, his hands where pale like a corpse with sharp nails, his deep V in the costume showed his equally paled neck. The inside of the suit was blood red which showed from the uprooted collar.
When the light revealed his face, Jason swore that his jaw dropped through his mask.
The man's chin was soaked with red blood, two sharp fangs being the only white thing in the area. His eyes where dark red as though he popped blood veins in his retinas. His black hair had been slicked back, showing his almost pointed ears.
And Jason couldn't believe he was thinking this, but he looked exactly like Doctor Mao Morbious. "My god..." he muttered. The man took this as his cue to pounce towards the teen across the rooftop.
Jason's reflexes kicked in and made him lean back and stick his knees our, bringing him low enough so that his opponent, quite literally, flew over his head. He spun around as the Morbious look-a-like slid to the ground, his claws slowing him down.
"Holy crap! And I thought a corpse looked ugly." the teen joked as he sprinted forward and kept towards the man with a outstretched leg. That's it, keep making dumb jokes while you try to find out just what the hell your fighting. Jason thought.
"Stop! I don't want to hurt you!" the man called as he rolled out of the way of the teen's kick. Jason looked over to him with confusion, that certainly was a first in his life.
"What about that guy down there?" he asked pointing down to the alleyway, "Seemed like you where pretty determined to...do whatever you wanted to do to him." he said, realizing he had no idea what the man was planning on doing.
The man looked down to the ground, "I can't help it...the hunger...it makes me feed on them." he said in a voice with fear, dread, and self hate somehow all mixed into one.
Jason felt his body relax, this man didn't chose to be this way, whatever made him what he was didn't care what his morals where. He had to feed on people as much as a thirsty man needed water, it was part of his nature. "Look, I can help you. If you turn yourself in and explain to the police-"
"You think the police can help!?" he snapped. His eyes looked like they where glowing with anger, "Best that they could do is lock me up in a cell and just let me wither away."
Spider-Man shook his head, "No, but there's a man, Mao Morbious. He's a biological genius who-" he stopped when he heard the man's dark crackle.
He bent his head down as he continued his laugh, when he looked up to the vigilante he sneered, "Who do you think I am child?" he asked, confirming the teen's fears.
Explains why I haven't been able to reach him, but that's not important. I need to help fix him. Jason thought. "Well that's a good thing! If you had a lab, couldn't you-"
"I've already tried!" the man interrupted harshly, a growl emitting from his throat, "I ran every test, I tried everything! But I've yet to find anything that resembles a cure!" he angrily explained. Morbious let out a shiver, "And now the hunger stirs...and your the only one to quench it."
Oh Boy.
Spider-Man backed up as Morbious closed the distance between him, Stay out of his reach, he can't suck you if he can't grab you. Jason thought as he swatted the man's arms away from him. He didn't want to hurt Morbious, his mind kept flashing back to Chapal, he turned into a mindless monster and this man was trying his hardest not to become that.
"Morbious listen," he ducked under a clawed hand, "I can help," he insisted as he leapt above a tackle. "If I can get to your lab I can help develop a cure!" he sad as Morbious leapt onto the air after him.
The teen shot a webline towards a radio tower and swing out of the man's way, "I know I may not look it but I've worked on something like this before." the teen pleaded as he landed on the metal framework of the tower. He turned in time for Morbious to tackle him through the metal and onto the rooftop.
Jason fought against the man's grasp, trying to give himself, "Ok if you do bite me, just don't make me a butler or something." he cracked as he tried to hold the man off.
"I'm not Dracula. I'm Mao Morbious, and I must do what I have to in order to live." he said sadly as he drew his head back and launched it towards the teen's neck. Spider-Man let out a cry of pain as the teeth sunk into his flesh.
But instead of feeling his bloodlust fulfilled, Morbioys felt as though he just drank a bucket f acid! "Gaaaa! Tainted blood!" he hissed, realizing his hold on the teen. Jason took this time to draw his legs in and kick Morbious off him, sending him into the radio tower.
"Did you seriously take a chomp out of me! And not say I was delicious! I am offended sir!" the teen said as he shot weblines to the man's chest and pulled it down over his shoulder, ramming him into the rooftop.
The teen couched at the spot where the teeth broke through his skin, he was bleeding, luckily Morbious hadn't touched his jugular. So he was moderately safe for now. Morbious rose from the ground and hissed at the teen before sprinting to the ledge of the building and flying off.
The teen made a small patch of webbing to put over the wound on his neck, hissing as the substance touched the open wound. "Ok, lead me to your castle then." the teen muttered as he begun to swung after him.
…
After almost losing him a few times, Jason finally found where Morbious lived. Of course it took up much of the night since Morbious was much slower than Jason when it came to covering distance. And it didn't help that he lived on the other side of the city either.
Jason circled around a building before releasing his webline and latching to the side of a building, looking up, he watched as Morbious entered a luxury suite of a high rise building. "Man when I said castle I didn't really...never mind." the teen said as he jumped across the expanse of open air to the side of the building.
At least he can't turn me into a vampire. God am I really on my way to fight Dracula Jr. here? My life is seriously weird. the teen thought to himself as he reached the suite's balcony. Climbing under the railing, Jason made doubly sure not to make any more noise than needed. He didn't want to fight him, but see what his findings where.
The teen crouched and approached the sliding door, putting his palm flat against it, he lifted the glass off the ground so that it wouldn't make noise as he opened it. Transferring himself to the wooden wall, he saw that the place was in disarray.
What was once a grand library was now almost completely trashed, books with torn pages where scattered across the floor. The furniture had claw marks in them, and all the lights where shut off. The teen crawled towards the open door, entering the room without touching the ground.
Morbious was looking over his notes again, his experiment may have cured him, but in turn made him into a monster. And he'd rather be dead than keep living like this, in his own personal hell. "Must keep working. If I did this to myself, there has to be a way to undo it." he said to himself.
Jason looked down to the man with pity, Time to do what I do best. the teen thought as he dropped to the floor behind Morbious, Be a complete smartass.
"Excuse me Doctor, your 2 o'clock is here." he said, making Morbious turn to him with a sneer.
"You! You fallowed me!" he asked as he swung his claws at the teen. Jason ducked backwards onto his palms and spying off the floor to the wall.
"Look Morbious, I'm sorry for following you, but I can really help you. Come quietly and-" he didn't get to finish his sentence before the man quickly zoomed through the air, taking the two of them through the wall.
The man's sharp claws sunk into Jason's skin, making him let out hiss of pain, What is it with me and claws lately? First Lizard now this guy, I feel like a glorified pin cushion. the teen thought as they crashed into the floor with the man above him.
"Oh whatcha gonna do now? Bite me? Doesn't really work if I remember right." he taunted. Morbious hissed right into the teen's lenses. Jason replied to this with a headbut, making him loosen his grasp on the teen as his head reeled back.
Jason swung a right hook into his jaw, sending him into a bookcase. The teen shot two lines to the top of the bookshelf and pulled it down ontop of the scientist. Morbious could only cover his head as the book covered shelves came down ontop of him.
Jason made a small bag of webbing and headed to the study, gathering as many of the papers that Morbious wrote. Stuffing the notes in the bag. "I'll give you these back I promise!" he yelled back to the library.
Well don't need stealth now, may was well bring the party up here. Jason thought as he grasped a chair and threw it out to the window. The teen sprinted towards the new exit but was hit into a wall with a large bookshelf. "Ok. I deserved that." he grunted out as he pressed the wooden shelf with his knees.
Spider Sense blaring, he stepped onto the falling shelf and pounced off to the broken window as Morbious ran himself into the wall. He fell down towards the streets below, firing a webline to the wall of the skyscraper as he did so.
Spider-Man shot another webline before letting go of the other one, looking back to see Morbious fly after him. "Oh great, just what I need." he muttered as he swung down towards the streets below.
Cars rocketed past the teen, horns blaring as he swung past them, "Hey Spidy you rock!" one of the onlooker shouted as he passed.
"Thank you random civilian!" he yelled back as a large truck passed a four lane intersection. The teen relased his web and dived straight towards it, spinning so that his chest barely grazed the space between the cab and the container.
The teen fired two wens on either side and pulled his hands down, keeping him in the air and pulling him above a taxi with some surprised passengers to say the least. Jason looked back to see Morbious still on his tail, thinking quickly, he sprayed a web to a telephone post and swung around it into a one way street.
"This is stupid. This is stupid. This is stupid!" he chanted as he evaded oncoming traffic. Morbious fallowed but slowed enough so that he had more maneuverability in the space provided. "Ok he's determined I'll give him that." the teen muttered.
Looking over traffic, he could see a trolly car come down the street. Ok, I can use that. the teen thought as he shot a web to his right and pulled himself to the wall, running on it and jumping across gaps in the buildings. This gave his peruser time to catch up to the teen, just as Spider-Man planned.
When the scientist could almost touch the teen when he spring off the wall and directly into the window of a trolly car. Spider-Man grasped one of the metal poles inside and spun around it, "Sorry folks!" he apologized before letting go and coming out the other side of the trolly.
Spider-Man zoomed into a alleyway on the other side, he outstretched his hands so that his fingers ran along the brick walls. The teen spun around the corner and attached himself to the wall.
Jason waited a few minutes before poking around the corner to see moving traffic and nothing else. The teen let out a sigh of relief, "Lost him. Thank god, now to get home and look at these notes." he said as he looked down to the web bag he had at his side.
…
The bite from earlier was already healing. But just to be safe, Jason put a bandage over the wound after taking a blood sample of his own. Looking over the notes that Morbious had gathered, he found out what made him like that.
And thankfully it wasn't a dark sacrifice.
Mao had a fatal illness. The disease caused his blood to coagulate when it passed through his heart during activity. It was a rare disease and no cure had been found. Well, that was until Mao looked at the genetic code for bats.
They consume blood and are able to break it down into its base form of sugar. So Mao believed that of it could break down blood into its base elements, than he could tweak it to put a stop to his illness. It was basically blood clotting, but his genetic code makes it so they don't break down.
The papers where spread all over Jason's small desk in his room. His Spider-Man suit was on his mattress with a patched up neck, a easy repair compared to his repairs to his suit after his fight with the Six. "So what went wrong? Too much altering to the genetic code?" the teen wondered aloud.
Looking over the notes, one from last week caught his attention. 'The blood as ceased coagulation, as I predicted it would. But it has worked too well. Along with the physical change to the body as I stated earlier in my notes, my blood now is more liquid like than before.' the teen read silently.
'My only hope is to find something that will scrub out some of the bat genes that I gave myself. A sort of gene cleanser, that could get rid of any non human genome.' it read.
Jason say frozen, "Even spider..." he muttered. Jason could do it, with what he had at Chapal's lab he could in fact make this. And...it could cure him. Not just him either, Chapal, Scorpion, it could work.
He could be normal again.
"Ok slow down O-rou. I have only one real sample of Dracula jr.'s DNA. I'll work on it tomorrow." he said to himself as he turned off his desk lamp. The teen walked to the end of his bed and picked up his costume and headed to his closet.
Tossing the body and legs into the darkness, he looked down to the mask. "No more Spider-Man...is that a good thing?" he asked he mask, the black lenses mirrored the look in his eyes. The teen tossed the mask in re closet, he'd rather not think of that right now.
.…
"Oh my god your serious." Was Akiko's response to Jason's retelling of the night's events. The two where on their way to the mall in little Ba Sing Sei to get Akiko a costume for tomorrow.
The teen gave her a unbelieving look as they walked together, "You honestly think I make this up? Think of all the crap I've felt with for the past like...year or so. Vampire like villain was coming eventually." he said.
Akiko shrugged while she nodded, "Ok yeah good point. But you said that he did this to himself, can you cure it?" she asked. Jason scratched the back of his head, "Come on, we both know that your smarter than you look." she said as she playfully nudged him.
"Is that a insult?" he half joked. Akiko shook her head, letting her free hair will throughout the air. The red and black hair was free of its ponytail and Jason had to admit, he liked how it looked on her.
"Here it is." Akiko said, gesturing to the building ahead of them. Entering the store, they found a large assortment of costumes for people of all ages to wear. "Woah...remind me to look into costume design." she muttered when they noticed the large amount of people buying costumes.
"Well the festival is tomorrow so this is probably the only time it gets good business." Jason guesses as they passed a isle of gowns. The teen wasn't planning on dressing up, like Aki said he did it every single day of his life. "Any idea what the kids are going as?" Jason asked.
Akiko shrugged, "I was gonna ask you. I can imagine Ikki going as a flower or something." she guessed. Jason couldn't help but laugh at that idea along with Aki, "You sure your not gonna get something? I mean I was joking yesterday." she said.
The two entered a isle of monster costumes, "Nah. I wanna be able to change if something happens. Besides wearing a costume over a costume sounds pretty uncomfortable." he said as Akiko looked at a witch mask and robes.
"Well you do look good in tights..." she said, her cheeks a tad pink.
Jason pulled on the collar of his shirt, feeling that the heat had been turned up, "Yet surprisingly I'm the only superhero who wears them. That I've come across anyway." he added once he counted the heroes he met on one hand.
Aki looked over her shoulder and smiled, "Hey, check it out." she said as she turned with a certain costume in her hands.
Jason could swear his mother was laughing at him from the Spirit Wirkd right now with the face he made.
The costume was a very poor replica of his own costume. Instead of tights it was simple cloth, the eyes where cut out, and the only thing that kept it on was a string and zipper on the back. "And that's the second time I've been used as a marketing ploy against my will." he said in a flat tone.
Akiko was trying hard not to laugh, "Think I'd look good in it?" she asked teasingly.
Jason rolled his eyes but smiled nonetheless, "It's Spider-MAN. Ya may want to think of something different babe." he advised as she put the costume back.
Jason looked over to the costume, thinking back to last night. He could get rid of his powers, but is that even remote to a good idea? He thought back to the Sinister Six, S.H.E.I.L.D could have taken care of them, but what about the triads? Or the crooks he stops everyday?
He's one of the only heroes who take care of the day to day dangers. And people needed that, "Hello? Earth to O-rou you there?" Akiko asked, snapping the teen out of his inner thoughts. The girl smiled as he muttered a apology, "Come on, let's find me a costume." she said as she led the teen towards the women's costumes.
Akiko took a handful of costumed and tossed them to Jason. The real hell started when he had to wait while she tried them all on, he could swear she was just punishing him for bailing on her yesterday.
"What did I ever do to deserve this?" the teen asked as Akiko changed. They both agreed no on the princess, fairy, and other girly costumes. "I should have just let her wear the Spidy suit." he muttered as he dunk further into his seat on a waiting couch. "And they need to make this more comfy."
Jason turned to the door to the changing room as it open, he was about to give her a pice of his mind but stopped when she saw her outfit. Irony was not lost Akiko, the theme was a Vampire for women, and she did it just to annoy Jason but she made it look amazing.
Purple stocking covered her legs and feet, her shoes where replaced with a pair of black boots that where surprisingly quiet. A black skirt with pointed ends covered her waist and thighs, her sides where exposed but her stomach was covered by a black strip of fabric going down the center of her.
She had a belt made out of fake skulls that matched the tiny necklace she wore, which held the classic cape around her back with red on the inside and black on the outside.
With only her black hair showing in the front, she looked like something out of the horror pulps. But she didn't look terrifying to the hero, she looked hotter than the damn sun in his eyes. "So...whatcha think?" she asked.
Jason shook his head out his daze and smiled, "You look like you could give Dracula a run for his money." he half joked, showing that he liked her outfit.
The girl smiled as she re-entered the dressing room to change back into her normal clothes, along Jason to put the others back where they came from.
Jason just threw them in a corner. He's seen enough clothes for one day.
…
After buying the costume the two parted ways with a kiss goodbye, Akiko heading home whilst Jason headed to Future Industries to try and find a way to help Morbious. The Gene Cleanser was possible, but Jason would have to inject it into the man, as for Chapal...his skin was too thick for a injection but he's figure something out.
The lab was still being reconstructed from his fight with the big green scientist but it was functional right now that's all Jason needed. Using the notes he gathered from Mao Morbious, the teen had already started working on the cure for the scientists.
Jason watched as the chemical serum changed colors as he added heat to the small tube. The teen turned off the burner and waited for the tube to cool itself down, he looked over to his portable pics scanner that he finished a few days ago, hoping to get a idea where Morbious could be.
There was one problem though, the ingredients needed to create the gene cleanser was small, he could only make the one serum for now. So he can't mess this up, otherwise he'd have to wait two more weeks until the next shipment came in.
'Any unit, any unit, please advise, we have reports of a figure luring in stone brook lane. Any unit please identify.' the small radio said through static.
Jason looked over to the serum as he grabbed a small syringe. He didn't think he needed the entire thing, the serum was fairly potent so it should only take a small amount to help the doctor.
After hiding the serum in a box, he stuffed it in the rafters so one of the repairmen or workers would find it. There had been reports of some thefts lately and Jason wanted to be safe rather than sorry.
Changing into his costume, the teen swung away from the factory with the syringe in a safe ball of webbing at his side. "God I wish I was playing hide and find the vampire with Aki. Getting a hickie from her sounds much better than getting another love bite." the teen muttered as he swung through the air.
…
The hunger was back. And it was stronger than ever. Mao felt beads of sweat roll down his far as he walked through the dark alley towards his prey. "God, please, let someone kill me..." he muttered with sadness and desperateness in his voice.
At the end of the alley where three people, a mother, father, and little boy. "No...I won't. I'd rather starve..." the man said weakly. But his body's instructs said other ideas. As much as he tried to resist. He couldn't stop walking towards the family.
"Hey! Fang face!" the man turned in time for a red and black blur to scoop him up by his collar and lift him into the air. "Miss me?" Spider-Man asked.
The man was thrown down onto a rooftop, sprawling out onto the rooftop. "Now I know we had a fight last time we saw each other but I think we can work out our differences." Spider-Man said as he landed on a smokestack in front of Morbious as he got up.
The teen ripped open the web he had at his side and took out the syringe, "Now just stay still while I give you your medicine and I'll give you a sucker when it's over." he said as he leapt towards the scientist.
Morbious flew up at a higher angle, knocking his knee into the teen's jaw. Spider-Man crashed into the smokestack he was previously on, the syringe was knocked out of his hand and bounced towards the ledge of the building.
"Oh. Of course. Because things weren't bad enough." the teen muttered as he quickly stood and shot a webline at the syringe as he jumped towards it.
The end of the web hit the glass container as Morbious grabbed his leg and spun him around and threw him into the side of the building. "That does it! You want to fight? Fine! I will enjoy feasting on you!" he yelled at the hero.
Jason looked up to see the syringe heading right at his face, the teen's reflexes kicked in at the last second and caught the serum, the needle a centimeter from his lens, "Aaannnd now he's mad. Great." he said as Morbios charged towards him. Spider-Man looked down at the serum then at Morbious, "Aw nuts!"
The teen tossed the serum into the air before latching his hands to the space of wall above him and flipping his body up as Morbious ran into the wall. The teen then brought his feet back down onto the back of Morbious's head and jumped off, catching the syringe in the process.
"Ok you gotta admit that was pretty-Gaw!" he yelled out as he was stuck directly in his face with a punch. The teen fell off the building towards the streets below, thinking fast, he shot a webline up to the roof he fell off of but was quickly cut by the scientist.
Spider-Man could only cry out as he crashed into the roof of a Satoomobile, letting out a groan as he sat up. Thankfully through some miracle the serum wasn't damaged, "My car!" the teenager beside the wrecked vehicle cried out.
"His fault." Spider-Man pointed out as Morbious dived down after the teen. He flipped off the wrecked car as the scientist trashed it some more, making the owner fall to his knees and weep.
Ok so how do I get my jumbo sized five year old patient to take his medicine? the teen inwardly questioned. The teen saw Morbious rise from the wreckage and tear a large piece of sharp metal off the side of it, making the owner ball up and cry, and threw it at the teen.
Spider-Man ducked under the metal and cartwheeled out of the way of claws when the pseudo vampire closed the distance between them. The teen pressed down on his we shooter and stuck the man's feet to the ground, "Alright, I'm gonna say it, I know it's bad but I'm gonna say it. Stick around...yea that was worse than I thought."
Spider-Man leapt onto Morbious's shoulders and drew the syringe back before pressing it into the man's skin and pressing down on the plunger. The man let out a cry of pain at the stinging sensation in his neck, drawing his head forward and ramming it into the teen's, he clutched his neck.
He felt his knees start to weaken, he fell to the ground and started to spasm. His body felt like it was on fire, and his neck was the base if the flame.
He was burning. And he felt like he deserved every ounce of pain.
"Sta...me...orbious!" a disoriented voice said. Mao's eyes felt heavy, the red orbs where disappearing as his eyes began to shut.
"Finally...death." the man whispered as his eyes shut.
…
Mao heard the sound of beeping. He tried to force his eyes open but to no avail, it felt as though his eyes where weighed down by weights. Why wasn't he dead? The man tried once more to open his eyes, he succeeded only to be almost blinded by the white room. The soft feeling of a bed could be felt over his back, looking down he saw his hands where covered by thick steel.
"Well it's not a coffin but it'll do right?" a voice asked. Morbious looked over to his side to see the costumed teen sitting against the wall. "Morning. Well actually it's midnight but still." he muttered.
"What...what...did you do?" he asked weakly. "Where..." he muttered
The teen dropped to the floor, and raised his hand, "Easy man, just relax. Your in a hospital, the serum I injected you with should have cured you but it dampened your powers." he explained.
Morbious turned his head back to look up at the ceiling, "You should have just killed me..." he stated.
Spider-Man shook his head, "Your not to blame for what happened, you where tying to help people and it didn't work out. Trust me, it happens." he said sympathetically.
Morbious let out a dry laugh, "I could have fought it...I should have just-"
"Stop." the teen interrupted, "I can't imagine what happened to you. But you can't really want to die, think of how revolutionary your work is." he supplied. The man still wasn't fully convinced, "Look...doctor Chapal is in one of the worst moments of his life. And he could use your help."
Morbious let out a dry laugh, "Chapal and I haven't seen each other for years...what could he want?" he asked.
The teen scratched the back of his head, "Well..." he started. After explaining what befell the doctor, Morbious was silent before letting out a small laugh.
"I suppose that's fitting. All of us undone by our own ideas." he said, making the teen's eyes widen in interest.
"All? As in more than you two?" he asked.
The man nodded weakly, "We all had ideas that we each perused. For me it was bats, Chapal was dragons. And Torma...well it was something we never understood." he said, making Jason's mind race at the thought of his father. He looked up to the teen, "The serum you made for me. The full dose should cure him."
Jason breathed a sigh of relief, "Thanks...look, because of what happened-"
"I'll serve whatever punishment they give me." he interrupted. He knew that he would have to face whatever he did eventually. Whether he had done it himself or not, but this was his penance and he would gladly pay it.
The teen looked down at the tiled floor, "I'm sorry Mao. I wish I could do something but-"
The man let out a chuckle, "Spider-Man. You have done enough. The hunger is there, but not enough so that I will act on only instinct. That is more than I can ask for." he said gratefully, making the teen smile under his mask.
"Well I'm glad I could make someone's day better." he said as he made his way to the open window, "I gotta go, they may not like a couple genetic misfits like us talking. Get well soon Morbious." he said before leaping out the window and swinging away.
Morbious smiled, he wasn't a danger. Not for now anyway.
…
Jason walked alongside Akiko towards the main house of Air Temple Island. The girl was in her costume she picked out yesterday, while Jason was wearing his spider suit, minus the mask. "Your a idiot." she said blatantly as they walked towards the house.
"Hey your the one who told me to wear a costume." he pointed out to the girl. She rolled her eyes at the teen. This was not what I had in mind at all. she thought as she put her hand in his.
"Just wait. They're gonna be drooling on how cool my costume is." he said confidently as they walked up to the door.
When his fist hit the wooden frame, the door swooshed open. The kids all had their own costumes made by Pema who stood behind them. Ikki was a princess with a pointed hat and pink dress, Meelo was a flying lemur with wings on his back and black strap mask that went over his eyes. And Jinora was a skeleton with face paint on.
"Hi Jason! Hi Akiko!" they exclaimed out of pure excitement. Pema laughed as they started bouncing up and down.
"Nice costumes you two." Pema commented, making the kids notice their costumes. "Oops." she says realizing her mistake.
The kids where on the teen's in a quarter of a second. "Oh wow!"
"Akiko your costume is amazing!"
"Sooo cool." Jinora said as she looked over Jason's Spider-Man suit.
Jason looked up to Pena and smiled, "They're absolutely terrifying. Aren't they?" he asked, gesturing to the kids. After getting their bags the five where off, Jason giving his aunt a wave as they made their way to the small ferry.
…
"Trick or Treat!" the airbending kids said in front of the older woman in front of them with their bags open in their hands. She smiled as she took some pieces of candy and put them in their bag.
Akiko and Jason stood at the base of the stairs to the home. Both smiling as the three hopped down the steps, "I got hot rocks!" Ikki said excitedly.
"I have some rainbow drops!" Meelo said, holding up the bag of threats.
"I hot a chocolate bar." Jinora said triumphantly. Akiko's fake gangs dripped with drool, she wished she was five years younger so she could clean house.
"I got a rock." Jason joked as he held up a small rock he found. "Come on guys, let's get going, the night is still young." he said as he tossed the rock aside and continued down the street.
The kids stayed in Jason's line of sight at all times, not that he didn't trust them, but they can move so fast that he can lose track of them. Jason felt Aki wrap her arm around his side, "This is nice. I hate how I'm not getting any chocolate bars but this is nice." she said, making them both chuckle.
Jason came to a stop as the kids went up to another house and rang re doorbell by Ikki balancing Meelo on her head, "Well they're having fun. That's what a festival is for right?" he asked.
Akiko nodded, "Yeah. God I miss being their age." she said. The firebender glanced over at her boyfriend, "I'm guessing that goes double for you huh?" she asked.
Jason smirked, "Hey, I'm a superhero. That's every kid's dream right?" he asked as he slid his hand into her bare side, "Besides, I love having a girlfriend." he said as he pulled her closer to his chest.
The kids returned and moved on to the next house, and the they still had more to go.
…
After hitting many more houses, the five returned to the island where the kids traded candy. Jason still had to put the kids to bed before they got on a sugar high, that meant he'd be up for a while.
"Your going to up till like six A.M or something. You sure you don't want some company?" she asked, offering some help.
Jason smiled as they walked onto the docks, "Don't worry about me. I've pulled a few all nighters, I'll be fine. Besides I think your not ready for that level of little kids." he said honestly.
The girl gave a small smile, "Not too much for Spider-Man though?" she asked teasingly as she stepped towards her boyfriend.
Jason grinned, "If course not babe. I can handle anything." he said confidently.
Akiko moved closer, their faces where centimeters apart when she spoke softly, "Anything?" she asked as she gently placed her hand onto his abdominal muscles.
Jason's throat was dry, he couldn't speak. Akiko's fingers drummed over the defined skin, "Because I was thinking we could go for a swing around the city tonight." her hand tracked up his well defined abs and to his chest. "Just you," her lips pressed briefly against his before slowly drawing away, "and me."
Jason would be lying to himself if he said that idea wasn't very, very appealing. He leaned forward, capturing her lips as his arms found their way around her hips.
He pulled away slightly, planting small kisses under her nose and eyes, "Any chance that'll do for now?" he asked, leaning his forehead against hers.
She thought for a minute, biting down on her lower lip as she did so. "For now." she decided. Her hands cupped his chin, "But you still owe me for bailing yesterday Tiger." she warned lightly, making the teen laugh.
"Yes ma'm." he said, pecking her lips again before pulling away and watching her get on the ferry alone and going back into Republic City.
When the ship was out of sight, he turned on a heel and headed back for the main house.
…
Jason smiled as he carried the kids to their beds, after about three hours of sugar highs, they finally tuckered themselves out. Jinora was hanging on his shoulders while he carried Meelo and Ikki in his arms, when he reached their room, he slid the door open with his foot.
He put Jinora and Ikki into bed first since he had to have at least one hand free. So glad I got them in their pj's earlier. the teen thought as he pulled their covers up to their chins.
Exiting the room, he closed the door and walked to Meelo's room. Setting the youngest of the Airbenders in bed, he let out a yawn. Between this and Morbious, he was ready to sleep for a week. "Jason?" he looked down to see the woken child.
He was in a daze and would probably fall back to sleep any second now, "Hey little man. It's bedtime, so you need your rest. 'Kay?" he asked, getting a nod out of the small boy. Jason smiled as he tucked him into bed and pulled the covers up. "Goodnight Meelo." he said quietly before heading to the door and sliding it closed.
What was I thinking? Giving up being Spider-Man when I have these people to protect? Ikki, Jinora, Meelo, Aunt Pem, Uncle Ten, Aki. I can't just quit. Not now at least. Jason thought as he walked down the hall towards the living room and the comfortable couch.
AN: Before I get anything about it, I researched it and found that Pizza was made in the late 1920's. And LoK was based off of America and Shanghai during 1820-1930's, so it does fit in.
Now I've finally finished what Akiko looks like so you guys have a idea of what she looks like. Here's the link:
art/Aki-490034241
I hope you guys like her:)
Now I know you guys where expecting Vermin to make a appearance but he'll come up soon, I promise. Now at the beginning of this fic I wrote that it takes place 2 years before the series or something. I'm sorry but that was a huge typo, this all started a year before the first episode.
But I was wondering if anyone knew what time the she started? I know that it's like late summer or early fall but I was wondering if someone had a exact date.
