Jaycee's POV

I end up at Emily and Sam's. I was in hysterics by the time I actually got there. All the possibilities were just overwhelming me.

I can barely get out of the car because of the tears in my eyes, but I manage to stumble into the house. Paul, Jared, Kim, Sam, and Emily were at the table, laughing and talking.

"Ah, look! The prodigal child!" Jared cheers. Kim slaps his arm, and I just let a sob escape my mouth. "Jaycee, what's wrong?" Paul demands, standing up, "What'd the asshole do?" I just continue to cry, until he picks me up like a child. I curl into his chest, hiding from the rest of the room.

"Jaycee, what happened?" He asks gently. "I can't loose him, Paul." I sob, "I just can't loose him." I feel him sit down, and I continue to let the tears fall. "Honey, what do you mean?" Emily questions. I don't respond, just shrink closer into Paul, who's like the brother I never had-apart from Dani. But that's awkward

"Jacob, what's going on?" I hear Sam ask. He responds with a growl, so I lift my head and turn towards him. "What the hell do you think you're doing Paul?!" He demands, snarling. "I'm being considerate, for fucks sake, Jacob! You should know that your imprints hurting!" Paul growls back. Jacob grabs my wrist, and snatches me not so gently out of Paul's lap. I snatch my arm from him, "What the hell?!" I yell at him. "What the fuck are you doing?!" He growls back. "I can't believe you would even consider that!" I hiss, "He's our brother!" His nostrils flare as he turns on Paul, "I don't want to see your hands on her again!" He roars. Paul finally stands up, "Then do your fucking job already!"

"Stop!" Sam commands. Everything in the room freezes, except for me. I quickly go to Emily's side, and she embraces me in her gentle way. "Get everyone over here. We obviously have some things to talk about."

"There's an army coming for Bella." Jacob announces. I keep my eyes on my lap, and though I'm tucked safely in between Seth, Brady, and Paul, I find myself shivering.

"Here," Seth whispers, and drapes one of Emily's throws over me. "Thank You, Seth." I whisper back. "So what do you propose we do, Jacob?" Sam asks. "I said that the pack will fight." Jake responds as if it's obvious. Sam takes a deep breath, "How close will they be?" "Close enough to be of our concern." Jacob retorts. "Is this just about Bella to you?" Paul asks from my side. "Of course it's about Bella. We have to keep a human in danger safe. But other than that.. No." Jacob says, his voice strained.

"The pack will fight." Sam says decisively.

Emily doesn't even hesitate; she shoots up from her spot on the couch, and is out of the room before Sam can object. Ciara and I glance at each other, and both rise to follow her. Embry takes Ciara's hand, but she keeps going. I'm not so lucky; Jacob, who's standing in the middle of the room, grabs me by the crook of my elbow. "We should talk." He says quietly. "About what, Jacob?" I retort. I try to snatch my arm back, but he doesn't allow it. "Jake let me go." I demand, my voice barely above a whisper. He ends up dragging me outside instead, no matter how hard I resist. When we make it outside, he finally lets go of me, and I make a point of distancing myself from him.

"What's wrong with you?" He asks directly. I scoff, and send him a scowl, "Nothing's wrong with me." He scoffs back, "You left in the middle of us talking with the Cullen's. And when I get here, you're curled into Paul's chest and holding on for dear fucking life!" He snarls at me. "At least he could see what was going on scared me, Jacob! I'm scared, okay?! I'm fucking scared!" I shout at him. "What exactly are you scared about?" He demands. "What if I loose you?" I ask softly. "That's ridiculous." He snaps, "How many times do I have to say that I'm built for this?! It's my life, okay?! And not even you can change that!" My eyes widen, and my eyebrows raise, "Well have fun, Chief Jacob, because you know what? We're through." I say quietly, before turning and going back into the house. I slam the door behind me, and return to my seat next to Paul and Seth.

The door slams again, and I don't even look up, knowing that Jacob has come back into the house. "You should head home, Jacob." Sam says. He scoffs, "Yeah, alright."

When I know he's gone, I lean into Seth, and let the tears fall. "You can't keep fighting with him." Leah says, to everyone's surprise. "When have I ever started it?"

The Next Day

I ended up staying the night at Emily's, though I didn't get much sleep. I couldn't help it-the last time we were "not together" he didn't fare so well. I'm worried about him. It didn't even seem that serious now, we were just mad. And maybe overreacting. But what's done is done. I could survive without him.

Suddenly, Sam bursts into my room. "What hell is wrong with you?" I mutter, and turn over. "Who was in here?" He demands. I sit up, "Are you serious?! Sam! That's not even funny!" I snap at him. "I'm not talking about Jacob." He growls. Emily appears behind him, a robe wrapped around her. "What's going on?" She asks quietly.

Good for them, they already solved their relational problems from last night.

Oh, how useful it is to be mature.

"There was a leech in Jaycee's room." Sam answers, walking over to the window. He looks at it, then reaches out and closes it. "Jaycee.. Didn't you go to sleep in a sweater last night?" Emily asks quietly. I look down, and see that I was wearing just a tank top. And it was true; I wore a sweater to bed. "Yeah.. But there's no way a vampire came in here, took of my sweater, and left without waking me up. And what about the guys? Weren't they on patrol?" Sam shakes his head, "No. They were resting because we have to go train with the Cullen's today. You might as well come with us." He mutters the last part unhappily, then leaves the room. "For what?!" I call after him. "To see what the hell the leech wants." He yells back, before I hear a door slam. Emily grimaces before leaving the room.

I sigh, and throw my legs over the edge of the bed, taking a deep breath before getting up. I'm exhausted, and I don't know how high my tolerance will be for all of these people I'm about to be surrounded by. I finally get up, and get in the shower.

By the time I get out, Sam had been yelling at me for about five minutes. Yeah, I'm really good at making him angry apparently.

"I'm coming for heavens sake!" I yell, before slamming my bedroom door. I walk back into the bathroom and dry off with the towel around me. I get dressed in a purple hoodie and a pair of slightly ripped jeans. I decide to go without make up, and pull my now wavy hair into a high ponytail. I leave the bathroom, and pull on a pair of gray Converse. Then, I grab my phone and leave the room.

I jog down the stairs, to find Emily and Sam at the kitchen table together, talking quietly. And because I didn't want to hear-I simply shut it out. "I'm ready." I say quietly. He stands up, and kisses Emily's forehead, "I'll be back." He says to her, before waving me towards the door. "Bye, Em." I say with a smile. She waves, and I follow Sam out of the back door.

I find all of the boys and Leah outside, and Sam orders them to shift. When they come back, Sam crosses his arms, "Go with Jacob." Jacob comes towards me, and I instinctively take three steps back. "I think I'll go with Paul." I say, and look up for Sam's approval. He shrugs, "Do what you want.. I guess." Jacob growls but I head towards Paul anyway.

It's not so much the fact that Jacob and I are fighting-all though that really helps, it's more so that he scares me in that form. I know I shouldn't be scared, but I can't help it. I cant help but to remember what happened every time I see his wolf. Fear just bubbles up inside of me.

Paul kneels down for me, and I manage to get on his back. "Yip yip!" I tease, holding onto tufts of Paul's fur. He growls playfully, and I just laugh. "Lets go, yeah? I wanna be the first one there!" He takes off at a sprint, and I lay my head on his back, squeezing my eyes shut. When he skids to a stop, I look up, and see the Cullen's. "Hi guys!" I say with a smile and a wave.

Paul crouches, and I slide off of his back. "Why are you here, Jaycee?" Carlisle asks. "There was a leech in her room." I look over my shoulder, and see Jacob coming toward me. I take in a deep breath, and move closer to Paul. The rest of the pack emerges, and Sam growls at Jacob. No one else was in human form, so I'm guessing he isn't supposed to be.

"I want to know what the hell he was doing there." Jacob demands, crossing his arms. "They took the sweater Alice gave me yesterday." I affirm, "He or she came in the middle of the night." Alice and Edward exchange a glance, "You weren't running a patrol?" Carlisle asks. "Sam says no. Their scent has been found around the reservation before. This isn't the first time they've tried to slip in. Sam thinks he or she is just after Jaycee. They've taken no harmful action against any of the pack." Edward says pensively. "It's the same scent that was at Bella's house." Jacob says, crossing his arms. "How do you know?" I blurt. "It's all over you." He snarls.

"What now? How do we protect both of them at the same time?" Emmett questions. "They'll have to stay together." Carlisle says carefully. "Are you screwing with me?!" I snap, "How fucking blind can you be?! I don't like the bitch-girl-thing!" I stutter angrily. Jacob actually growls, and I find myself growling/hissing back at him, glaring. "I have no problem with that." Bella says. "No one asked you." I snap. "Well no one ever asks you!" She defends. "We're two different people, sweetheart." I snarl. "Jaycee." Jacob growls at me. "I'm not talking to you right now!" I snap at him.

"Sam agrees. He says there's not many other options. He thinks she'll be safer in Forks." Edward says, crossing his arms. I throw my hands up, "How many times to I have to say that I don't like her?" I demand. "We're not asking you to like Bella." Esme says gently, "We're just trying to keep the both of you safe. We all care about you both-" she's interrupted by Paul's bark-like laugher, and I slap him softly. "We just want you safe and unharmed." Esme finishes, completely unfazed. "So behave." Jacob adds with a growl. My mouth falls open, and I turn towards him with a glare, "Practice what you fucking preach, Jacob! Trust me when I say everyone's opinion on behaving isn't physically and emotionally hurting someone you're supposed to love almost every day!" He growls at me, and I step away with tears in my eyes. Paul moves closer to Jacob, giving him warning growls. Sam finally intervenes, sending out a loud and powerful growl that stops both of them in their footsteps. Jacob strides away, and shifts before he's back by the pack. I lean into Paul's neck, hiding my face, and letting a couple tears fall.

"Can I keep my puppy?" I ask quietly. "If he's willing to stay." Esme says with a smile. Paul grunts

Paul lays down at the edge of the trees, and I sit down by him. We were watching the Cullen's "practice" and I had gotten bored.

I can't remember any interaction with any vampires besides the Cullen's, ever, so I don't see why I'm being hunted down by one. I mean-my blood probably isn't even that appealing! I'm just an ordinary girl! I had ordinary parents, and my family would be ordinary if they didn't have stupid magic genes! But i don't! There's nothing appealing or interesting about me. I'm not extraordinarily pretty, I'm not polite, not alway nice, and it's true-I talk too much. I don't see what they could possibly want from me. I'm just a girl with scars.

"Jaycee, we're ready to go." I look up, Jasper's in front of me, offering his hand. I take it, and he hoists me up. "What about Paul?" I ask, reaching back towards him. Paul stands to his feet, towering over us both. He nudges my shoulder with his nose, pushing me towards the Cullen's car. "Paul, please." I plead. "He says he'll meet us there." Edward interrupts. "Hurry up." I demand. "He said to shut up." I laugh, "Okay. Lets go."

I walk to the car with Jasper, and get into the backseat. Bella and Edward were in the front seat, and Jasper was about to close the door. I grab his wrist, and pull, and to all of our surprise, he actually ends up with half of his torso in the car. "Would you like me to stay, sweetheart?" He asks quietly. I nod. He climbs into the car, before exchanging a glance with Edward, "You're pretty strong, Jaycee." I shrug, "Yeah. Just lately."

"Where are we going anyway?" I ask when Edward starts the car. "To my house. For your sake, you and Bella will go in between LaPush and Forks. The treaty is obviously irrelevant in this situation." I clear my throat uncomfortably, "There's no reason for me to go to LaPush," I say, "Unless it's to retrieve clothes." Edward glances at me in the mirror, "Wouldn't you like to see Jacob?" I glare at him, "We both know the answer to that." Bella looks in between the two of us, "Are you and Jacob no longer together?" She asks curiously. "We aren't." I confirm uncomfortably. "Oh." She says, but I can see the smile trying to fight its way onto Bella's face.

I turn towards Jasper, "How are you?" I ask, my voice dripping in sarcasm. He chuckles, "I'm just fine, and I'm assumin' you're okay too?" He drawls with a smile. I shrug, "More of less." He gently grabs my right arm, "What's this?" He asks quietly, referring to the vividly colored bruises around my wrist and the crook of my elbow. "I'd like to believe that they're accidents." I whisper sadly. Jasper's topaz colored eyes bore into mine, "Accident or not, they shouldn't be there."
