I have returned! I have a good reason for why this chapter took so bloody long to write. Mainly, I had my laptop sitting on the edge of my bed and I sat up too quickly, knocking it off. Much to my dismay, I discovered the hard drive was cracked and I lost everything. Not even data recovery could've saved it. So 150$ later, here I am with a new hard drive in the laptop, having spent a few weeks trying to rewrite all the data that I lost. That absolutely sucked. But, I've recovered what I could. So, here we go with the next chapter of Yugioh: Chaos Unleashed!

Chapter 27: Eyes of Blue and Wings of Black

In front of Martha's Orphanage

Yusei was getting frustrated as he waited patiently for the green flames to die down. Playing the waiting game while others were putting their lives on the line was not his style, but he was forced to sit still while Jack began his Turbo Duel, which he could sense through his Mark of the Crimson Dragon. Akiza sensed this and came up beside him, touching him gently on the arm.

"Jack can handle himself," she said encouragingly.

"We're a team," Yusei pointed out. "We need to stick together."

"We do, but there are times where we will need to split up," Yugi pointed out. "The Chaos Movement is making its move today, given the three-pronged assault we've been fending off."

"Something tells me that the zombie apocalypse was just a warm up for what's in store for us," Yusei said ominously, looking at the three kanjis in the sky, two of them close to one another while the third moved through the sky. "And seeing as they were striking at innocent children, we know the Master won't be above stooping to more dirty tricks. That's why we need to stick together."

"Hey look!" Leo suddenly shouted, pointing into the distance. Right on cue, the trail of flames blocking their path was beginning to lower in intensity. Soon enough the teal flames were mere teal embers smoldering on the ground and the Signers and time travelers were free to get in their various vehicles.

"Let's find Jack!" Yusei declared, running over to his Duel Runner. Soon he was zooming off after the kanji in the sky, following the trail of fire to where he knew his friend was Dueling, leaving everyone else behind.

"That Yusei," Akiza sighed as she stepped into her car, everyone else piling in as well. "Always rushing off to help somebody."

"Funny how he talks about sticking together and goes and leaves us behind like that," Kaiba snorted as he plopped down in the passenger seat.

"I'll start this Duel!" Thomas announced, drawing a card. "And I Summon the Keeper of the Shrine to the field in Defense mode!" A small draconic shrine rose up in front of Thomas, a red-scaled elderly man-dragon hybrid seated on top of the shrine in a meditation pose.

Keeper of the Shrine: Atk 0, Def 2100, LV 4

"I have never seen that before" Dani commented to Crow, "Have you?"

Crow shook his head. "Nope."

"I place one card face down and end my turn," Thomas finished with a little flourish. "Let's see what you have."

Crow exchanged a glance with glance with Dani. "You want to go first?"

Dani shrugged. "It doesn't matter. At least you asked." She turned and faced Thomas, drawing a card. "I activate Card of Consonance and discard my White Stone of Legend to draw two cards. Also, since the White Stone of Legend was sent to the graveyard, I get to add a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my Deck to my hand!" She plucked the Blue-Eyes out of her Deck, let her Duel Disk shuffle her Deck, then drew two more cards to add to her now hand of five cards. The image of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon flashed briefly over her head. She could hear the younger kids taking that in with gasps of surprise.

"No way!" Taiga exclaimed.

"She uses Blue-Eyes?!" Hikari asked in wonder. Dani glanced back and saw Kibo simply smiling.

"Now I Summon my Alexandrite Dragon to the field in Attack mode!" Dani announced, watching the jewel-encrusted dragon appear on the field with a roar.

Alexandrite Dragon: Atk 2000, Def 100, LV 4

"I'll put two cards face down and end my turn," Dani finished.

"My turn then!" Allana shouted, drawing a card. She smiled and played a card in her Field Spell zone. Two large, white pillars began to rise from the ground.

"Oh come on!" Dani complained as the ground began to rumble, a white stone temple rising behind Allana.

"Welcome to the Realm of Light!" Allana announced, the kanji for light appearing on her forehead. "Where darkness holds no sway here and those sworn to the light shall become even stronger!"

"I hate Field Spells," Dani muttered as a forest began to grow around the ring of fire, which gave the field a feeling of actually being in the forest.

"I Summon Garoth, the Lightsworn Warrior to the field in Attack mode!" Allana continued, ignoring Dani's grumbles as a blue-haired man in white armor appeared in front of her, wielding a white and gold halberd, the ruby embedded in the axe blade gleaming in the white firelight.

Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior: Atk 1850, Def 1300, LV 4

"I'll place a card face down to end my turn," Allana finished.

"Looks like I'm up," Crow said with a grin on his face. "Finally." He drew a card.

"Go Crow!" Daichi shouted.

"You can do it!" Kokoro added.

Crow glanced at Dani. She returned his grin with one of her own. Crow set his sights on Allana as he began to play cards. "First, I'm going to activate Black Whirlwind, which is going to come into play real shortly." There was an explosion of black feathers behind Crow as the Continuous Spell card appeared on the field.

"That card is totally gonna win this Duel for Crow!" Taiga shouted.

Crow had that dangerous gleam in his eye. He had drawn a pretty darn good opening hand. "Now since you have a monster on your field and I don't, I get to Summon Blackwing- Sirocco the Dawn to the field automatically!" A winged man with a raven mask appeared in front of Crow in a swirl of black feathers, clawed feet touching down ever so gently on the ground.

"With a name like Crow, I suppose it's no surprise he uses Blackwings," Dani mused.

"Yeah, I go way back with my cards," Crow admitted, "It's how I figured I'd score my ticket out of here."

"Nice," Dani said, "Now, less remembering, more Dueling. We've got these bastards to beat."

Blackwing- Sirocco the Dawn: Atk 2000, Def 900, LV 5

"Right. Now that I have a Blackwing on the field, I can Summon this guy to the field as well," Crow continued, "Come on out, Blackwing- Bora the Spear!" Another winged man appeared, his raven mask covered in bright red feathers as he held his impressive black lance in front of him.

Blackwing- Bora the Spear: Atk 1700, Def 800, LV 4

"Now for my Normal Summon this turn!" Crow was definitely in the zone. "Time for Blackwing-Zephyros the Elite to join the party!" A third winged man appeared, his mask being covered in blue feathers this time around and he was wearing red and gold armor as well.

Blackwing- Zephyros the Elite: Atk 1600, Def 1000, LV 4

"This could be a problem," Thomas commented dryly to Allana as he looked at the three Blackwings staring him down.

"He's just swarming the field with a few monsters," Allana said, looking unconcerned. Thomas had to admit that the kanji on her forehead brought out the color of her brown eyes. Shaking himself, he brought his focus back to the Duel. As nice as it was to be fighting with Allana at his side, he couldn't allow himself to be distracted.

"Now the effect of my Black Whirlwind comes into play," Crow said as black feathers began to swirl. "For each Blackwing I summoned to the field, I can add another Blackwing with less Attack points than the Blackwings summoned from my Deck to my hand."

"Yeah, that card's a great way for Crow to keep his hand full!" Daichi explained to those that would listen, which really amounted to Kibo, who was only half listening anyways as she watched the Duel with wide eyes.

"Now I'm going to add three Blackwings to my hand; Blizzard the Far North, Mistral the Silver Shield, and Brisote the Tailwind!" Crow fished the three declared cards out from his Deck and let his Disk shuffle his Deck. "I end my turn with two cards face down."

"That was an impressive opening move," Thomas admitted as he drew a card. "Matthias mentioned how well Blackwings worked together during the briefing, but to see them in action is something else!" He glanced at the card and laughed. "No matter! The card I just drew will ultimately prove those monsters worthless. First I activate Dragon Shrine to send a Red-Eyes Black Dragon from my Deck to the Grave, and since Red-Eyes is a Normal Dragon, I can send another dragon. This one is the Black Stone of Legend!"

"A Black Stone of Legend?" Dani repeated, blinking in surprise. "Does it have the same effect for Red-Eyes like my White Stone of Dragon does for Blue-Eyes?"

"I now summon Debris Dragon to the field in Attack mode!" Thomas continued as a miniature version of Stardust Dragon appeared on the field, the red firelight gleaming off the orange chest plates.

Debris Dragon: Atk 1000, Def 2000, LV 4

"And with Debris Dragon's special ability, I can bring back my Black Stone of Legend from the Graveyard in Defense mode!" Thomas announced. Debris Dragon roared and punched the ground, creating a little blue portal in front of him. Through that portal rose a simple black stone, glowing red energy leaking out from cracks here and there.

The Black Stone of Legend: Atk 0, Def 0, LV 1

"Now to get things started," Thomas said, glaring at Dani. She returned his glare with one of her own, but that didn't stop him. "I banish my Debris Dragon in order to Special Summon my Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon! Behold, the dragon rising from the darkness that shines with the purest black metal!"

"Uh-oh," was all Crow said as the Debris Dragon turned into a ring of red and black fire. That ring expanded and through it flew that mighty form of Red-Eyes, red highlights glowing among the black scales of the powerful dragon.

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon: Atk 2800, Def 2400, LV 10

"This is bad," Dani said, even as she fought the urge to squeal at the sight of the powerful dragon.

"Oh yes it is," Thomas agreed. "Because I use my Darkness Metal Dragon to bring back my Red-Eyes Black Dragon from the Graveyard! Appear now, the anger of my very soul!" The metallic version of Red-Eyes unleashed a column of fire next to itself, roaring with power that was answered with a roar from the fire. The famous Red-Eyes Black Dragon came clawing out of the flames, looking eager for a taste of the action.

Red-Eyes Black Dragon: Atk 2400, Def 2100, LV 7

"Now I sacrifice my Black Stone of Legend in order to Special Summon a Level 7 or lower Red-Eyes monster from my Deck!" Thomas grinned as he searched his Deck. "This one will surprise you."

"What, another Red-Eyes Black Dragon?" Crow asked sarcastically.

"In a way," the Black Dragon replied, placing the card on his Disk. "This one is the Red-Eyes Baby Dragon!" True to its name, a much smaller and much less mature version of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon appeared next to the grown up Red-Eyes Black Dragon, stumbling along the ground until the parent dragon nosed it gently, helping it to stand up and growl at its enemies.

Red-Eyes Baby Dragon: Atk 1000, Def 700, LV 3

"So you're going to summon that dragon," Allana said quietly, looking quite proud of Thomas' move.

"Oh yeah," Thomas grinned. "Now, I Tune my Red-Eyes Baby Dragon with my Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

Crow was concerned, to say the least. "That's a Tuner monster?!" The child of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon leaped into the air, turning into three red stars that expanded outwards into red and black rings. The adult Red-Eyes Black Dragon soared into the rings, turning into seven more crimson stars.

"Eyes of red and wings of black, in a surge of burning darkness, come forth and show your potential!" Thomas chanted as the rings erupted into a blaze of black and red fire. "Synchro Summon! The Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon!" With a mighty roar that shook the entire block, a new Red-Eyes dragon monster flew out of the flames, crimson power leaking from every crevice in its pitch black scales. While it had no arms, much like the Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, there were several areas on its body glowing with pure crimson energy, reminiscent of the Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon. The Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon roared, buffeting everyone with a shock wave of power.

Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon: Atk 3400, Def 3000, LV 10

"Whoa…" was all Dani could get out. "What an awesome dragon…"

"Figures," Crow shrugged, "If there's a Synchro Blue-Eyes, there had to be a Synchro Red-Eyes."

"Of course!" Thomas agreed, "And now I'm going to show the Maiden with Blue Eyes just how powerful the Eyes of Red are. Go Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon! Attack her Alexandrite Dragon with Blast Burn!" The metallic Red-Eyes roared and began to fly up high into the sky, gathering power for its blast.

"I play my Trap, Sakuretsu Armor, to destroy your attacking monster!" Dani said quickly as the Darkness Metal Dragon began to fall from the sky like a meteor. Jagged battle armor appeared on the jeweled dragon as Alexandrite Dragon flew up to meet the Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon in midair. There was an explosion of fire and Alexandrite dragon came crashing back down to earth, without the armor on, but still in one piece. The Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon was not so lucky, as when the smoke cleared, it was revealed to have been destroyed in the explosion.

"Cute," Thomas said in a tone that held no amusement. "Then I'll simply attack with my Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon! Show them the power of my Burning Soul, with Sacred Fire Inferno Blast!" The crimson glow from the Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon intensified into a brilliant light. Dani could only watch as a rose colored flame came from the dragon's maw, engulfing her own dragon with its intensity. She could feel the backlash of the heat washing over her. It was a flame unlike any she had ever experienced, in both its intensity and sheer power. As quickly as it started, it ended, leaving her without her Alexandrite Dragon and a decent chunk of her Life Points. Smoke rose from her frame, something noticed by Crow as he glanced over to check on her.

Dani LP: 2600

"You okay Dani?" he called, concern in his tone.

"I'll be fine," she gritted out, shaking herself to try and recover from that powerful attack.

"I think that'll do for a turn," Thomas concluded, his Red-Eyes Synchro monster roaring in agreement.

Dani grimaced as she drew a card. That attack from the Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon had really hurt. She glanced back at the kids she was Dueling to protect. They were looking concerned, but smiled when she glanced back. Kibo especially touched Dani's heart, as she nodded at Dani's glance, sucking her thumb all the while. Dani turned back around with fire in her eyes. "Well, Thomas, you want to mess with the Blue-Eyes, you're gonna get it!"

Thomas laughed. He was enjoying this. If he couldn't duel the first Master of the Blue-Eyes, she would do. Besides, her more modern Deck would most likely provide a greater challenge than Kaiba's older Deck. He wanted to face the Blue-Eyes at their best, just like his great-grandfather did all those years ago. "Come at me then!"

"Be careful what you wish for," Dani warned. "Because I play the Melody of Awakening Dragon spell card and discard my Totem Dragon in order to bring my other two Blue-Eyes White Dragons into my hand!" She deftly fished the two cards out of her Deck and let her Duel Disk reshuffle her Deck.

"Go Dani!" Kokoro shouted.

"Next I'll Summon my Guardian Knight with Eyes of Blue to the field in Defense mode!" Dani announced. A silver haired muscular man with light blue armor appeared, holding a light blue greatsword that had wings like the Blue-Eyes White Dragon acting as cross guards. He saluted his opponents and took a guard position.

Guardian Knight with Eyes of Blue: Atk 800, Def 1300, LV 1

"And since I summoned him, I can automatically Special Summon a Level 1 Tuner Monster from my hand!" Dani continued. "So here comes my favorite card, the Maiden with Eyes of Blue in Attack mode!" Dani noted the look of unconcern on Thomas' face as the Guardian Knight traced a kanji on the ground next to him with his sword. The kanji, which represented "blue eyes", glowed brightly before a woman with long silver hair and brown dress appeared on top of the kanji.

Maiden with Eyes of Blue: Atk 0, Def 0, LV 1

"Then I use my Totem Dragon's special ability to Special Summon him directly to the field!" Dani said. A little green mechanical dragon without any discernable face appeared next to Dani's Maiden.

Totem Dragon: Atk 400, Def 200, LV 2

"You already did your normal summon for the turn," Thomas pointed out.

"Do I look like I care?" Dani asked rhetorically. "I now activate my Guardian Knight's special ability. By sending an Effect Monster I control to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my hand directly to the field! Not only that, but since I'm targeting my Maiden with Eyes of Blue with Guardian Knight's effect, her effect activates in tandem with my Guardian Knight, which mean that TWO Blue-Eyes White Dragons come to the field!"

"Two Blue-Eyes?" Allana gasped. The two people of the Eyes of Blue turned towards one another. The Maiden began singing a melody while the Guardian Knight began tracing ancient symbols in the air, singing with the Maiden in the same song. Finishing their song, the Maiden smiled before she disappeared into a brilliant white light that rose from the ground. That light split into two orbs that hovered above Dani's head as she began chanting.

"Come forth with scales as white as light and eyes as blue as the sky. Conquer all who stand before me! Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Two simultaneous roars shook the ground as the dragons of legend appeared from the light, drawing awed gasps from the kids behind Dani.

Many of the exclamations from the other kids were along the lines of "Wow!" and "Awesome!" Kibo had a difference response than many expected. "Hi Asimi! Hi Joka!"

Crow spun around in surprise as the three-year-old's comments registered in his head. "Wait, your imaginary friends are Blue-Eyes White Dragons?" Kibo simply nodded. "And you have Dani as your mother?" Kibo nodded again. The Blackwing Duelist turned to Dani, shaking his head and lowering his voice so that Kibo couldn't hear him. "You sure you're not actually her mother?"

Dani rolled her eyes. She couldn't tell if his question was serious or not. "Not the time Crow."

Blue-Eyes White Dragon: Atk 3000, Def 2500, LV 8

"Now I'll be Tuning my Guardian Knight with Eyes of Blue with my Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Dani began. The Guardian Knight with Eyes of Blue leaped into the air, transforming into a blue star. One of Dani's Blue-Eyes followed, flying after the star as it expanded into a silver ring. The Blue-Eyes White Dragon dissolved into 8 more stars as it entered the ring. The stars aligned within the ring before erupting into a brilliant white light as Dani began another chant.

"The spirit of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon is awakened and takes form on the mortal place. Witness the power of this legendary dragon's spirit as I Synchro Summon the Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon!" The light began to take a form, the form of the dragon. It looked a lot like the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, but as the light became less than blinding, it was obvious that this new dragon was special. Its scales were of the purest light, golden spikes sprouting here and there. The eyes of this dragon were of the purest blue and they glared at Thomas as the Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon roared a challenge. The Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon roared a challenge back at the new Blue-Eyes Synchro Dragon, and the roaring dragons shook the ground with their power.

Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon: Atk 2500, Def 3000, LV 9

"That's not Azure-Eyes!" Thomas said in surprise. "Where did that come from?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," Dani answered simply. Her gaze grew fierce once more. "I'm going to attack her Lightsworn Warrior with my Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Her dragon roared to punctuate that statement. "Attack with White Lightning!" Energy began to gather in the Blue-Eyes White Dragons mouth.

"I'm not going to let that happen!" Allana countered. "I play my Trap card, Lightsworn Barrier. Now by sending the top two cards from my Deck to the Graveyard, I can negate your attack!" She placed the two cards from her Deck into the Grave and a white semi-transparent shield appeared around Garoth, protecting him from the powerful blast from the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, leaving the warrior unharmed.

Dani growled in frustration, but didn't falter. "Then my Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon will have to attack your Warrior instead! Attack it with your Spirit Blast Strike!" Her newest Synchro Monster roared in agreement and began gathering white energy in its mouth, much like how Blue-Eyes White Dragon did, but this energy seemed purer, if a little less potent.

"Lightsworn Barrier is a Continuous Trap card," Allana declared, sending two more cards from her Deck to the Grave. "Though your dragons are of the Light attribute, they are not as powerful as my Lightsworns when it comes to their strength and power of the Light!" A card was spat out from Allana's Graveyard and she picked up the card with satisfaction. "Well well, looks like my Trap has helped me out. Since Wulf, the Lightsworn Beast was sent from my Deck to the Grave, I can now Special Summon it to the field!"

"Not quite!" Allana was startled as she was about to place Wulf's card on her Duel Disk. Dani had a triumphant look on her face. "My Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon has a special ability that can negate an effect that activates in the Grave. You're not bringing your beast out today!" Her Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon let out another roar and unleashed a wave of blue energy that shattered the image of Wulf trying to join the battle on the field. Allana returned the card to the Graveyard with a frown. Two white flames appeared above the pillars of the Realm of Light.

"Still, since cards were sent from the Deck to the Grave, I get to add a Shine Counter for each time cards were sent from my Deck to my Grave," Allana said, reassuring herself as much as anyone else. "And for each Shine Counter on my Realm of Light, my Lightsworns gain 100 Attack points!" The white flames shot two little fireballs at Garoth, who absorbed their power and looked better for it.

Shine Counters: 2

Garoth Atk: 2050

"I'll end my turn by activating the Quick-Play Magic Card Super Rejuvenation," Dani finished, "This lets me draw cards equal to the number of dragon types discarded or tribute this turn. Since I sent two dragons to the Grave, I get to draw 2 cards! Your move."

"And so it is," the Lady of Light murmured quietly, drawing a card. Her smile was small, but it was enough to give that ominous feeling to Crow. "I play Charge of the Light Brigade and send the top three cards from my Deck to the Grave in order to add a Lightsworn Monster from my Deck to my hand, one that I'll Summon directly to the field now! Just as you have your Maiden with Eyes of Blue, I have a Maiden of my own!"

Dani was surprised "What?!"

"You aren't the only one who has a powerful Maiden devoted to their cause," Allana challenged. "Minerva, the Lightsworn Maiden, come to me!" A young red-headed girl in a simple white toga appeared on the field, a snowy white owl flying down from above and coming to land on her outstretched white gloved hand. She smiled shyly at her opponents, looking very demure. A third flame ignited on the Realm of Light thanks to the effect of Charge of the Light Brigade.

Minerva, Lightsworn Maiden: Atk 800, Def 200, LV 3

Shine Counters: 3

"And because I summoned her, I can add a Light Attribute dragon from my Deck to my hand with stars equal to or less than the number of Lightsworns with different names in my Graveyard," Allana added, taking her Graveyard out and fanning the cards out so that they could see. "I have 6 Lightsworns with different names in the Grave, so I can add a level 6 or lower dragon to my hand. Gragonith, Lightsworn Dragon now comes to my hand!" An image of a white dragon with a glowing golden main and feathery Pegasus wings flashed briefly over her head before she added the card to her hand.

"If that Maiden is anything like mine," Dani mused to herself. "Uhoh."

"Yes, Minerva is a Tuner monster!" Allana confirmed. The light kanji on her forehead began to pulse with power. "And I'm Tuning her with Garoth the Lightsworn Warrior." Minerva's owl took off into the skies, the Maiden herself following shortly. The owl turned into one star and the Maiden into two stars that turned into bright white rings. Garoth leaped into the rings, turning into four more yellow stars, which aligned in the rings before a brilliant white light erupted from the ring, extending into the skies.

The Lady of Light began chanting. "Now, the dragoon of Lightsworns shall purify the world of absolute evil, protect the world from darkness and slay the evil! Descend now, Michael, the Arch-Lightsworn!" The light faded and a roar came from the heavens. Dani's eyes grew wide as she saw the Judgment Dragon begin to descend.

"Look! There's someone on that dragon!" Taiga shouted, pointing at the new monster. Sure enough, a man in golden winged armor was perched on top of the Judgment Dragon, holding a mighty blue great sword that hummed with power.

Michael, the Arch-Lightsworn: Atk 2600, Def 2000, LV 7

"Of course, as a Lightsworn, he gains the attack boost provided by the Realm of Light," Allana pointed out. The Arch-Lightsworn held up his sword and let the three fireballs be absorbed into his blade.

Michael, the Arch-Lightsworn: Atk 2900

"Now, I think it's time to use Michael's special ability," Allana began, closing her eyes. Light energy began to stream from the kanji on her forehead into the sword of the Arch-Lightsworn. He held his blade up as the sword began glowing a brilliant golden color.

Allana LP: 3000

"By giving up 1000 of my Life Points, I can banish a card from the field," Allana announced. "Since Thomas seems to be gunning for Dani, I'll settle for taking on Crow."

Crow bristled at the putdown. "I'm the only one here with a Mark from the Crimson Dragon, so take me lightly if you want, but me and my Blackwings will surprise you!"

"Mark or no Mark, I'm still banishing your Blackwing-Sirocco the Dawn," Allana said. The Arch-Lightsworn punctuated that by swinging his blade, unleashing a scything blast of light that disintegrated Sirocco the Dawn before anyone could even blink.

"What power…" Hikari gasped, blinking away the spots from her eyes that came from the blinding attack.

"Now for my main attack!" The Lady of Light pointed a finger at Crow. "Go Michael, attack his dark monster, show him the folly of relying on the darkness and attack his Blackwing-Bora the Spear with Lightray Slash!" The Arch-Lightsworn's mount leaped into the sky, roaring as he flew towards Crow's Blackwing. Bora the Spear tried to intercept with his lance, but Michael obliterated the spear with his sword and his follow-through decapitated the unfortunate Winged Beast, the shock wave knocking Crow off his feet.

"Crow!" came the collective cry from his adopted kids.

"I'm alright," Crow groaned as he got back to his feet. "That was nothing!"

Crow LP: 2800

"Since you removed two of my Blackwings from the field, I'm allowed to Special Summon my Blackwing-Brisote the Tailwind directly from my hand!" Crow said with that grin on his face. "You aren't getting rid of my monsters that easily!" A female Blackwing emerged onto the field, green and purple feathers covering her torso as she spread her wings. Golden feathers swirled around her as she crouched down in defense position.

Blackwing- Brisote the Tailwind: Atk 1200, Def 1800, LV 5

"I place another card facedown and end my turn," Allana finished. "Thanks to that, Michael the Arch-Lightsworn's special ability forces me to send the top three cards from my Deck to my Grave, which means another Shine Counter for my Realm of Light." She grimaced as she saw the cards she had to discard, but other than that, she seemed satisfied as another white flame appeared on the pillars behind her.

Shine Counters: 4

Michael, Arch-Lightsworn: Atk 3000

"Well then, looks like it's time for me to really take off!" Crow declared as he drew a card. "Here we go! Draw!"

"You can do it Crow!" Ginga shouted.

"We're with you all the way!" Hikari cheered.

Crow turned and smiled at them briefly before facing his opponents. "That's right, I'm doing this for them. So, I Summon the Tuner monster Blackwing-Blizzard the Far North in Attack mode!" An actual bird appeared this time, a little chubby, but covered in white feathers except for the primary flight feathers on the wings and a few on its head, which were the typical black of a Blackwing.

Blackwing- Blizzard the Far North: Atk 1300, Def 0, LV 2

"Since I successfully summoned him, I'm allowed to special summon a level four or lower Blackwing from my Grave to the field in Defense position!" Crow continued. "So, Blackwing- Bora the Spear, come on back!" Bora the Spear did just that, appearing next to Blizzard the Far North and holding his spear in front of him defensively.

Blackwing- Bora the Spear: Atk 1700, Def 800, LV 4

"Also, since I have a Blackwing on the field, I'm allowed to summon this little guy without any penalty! Blackwing- Gale the Whirlwind!" Crow was on a roll as another Blackwing bird appeared, this one with green feathers on its head and wide eyes taking in everything as it took its position by its fellow Blackwings.

Blackwing- Gale the Whirlwind: Atk 1300, Def 400, LV 3

"Now it's time to take this Duel up a notch," Crow declared. "I'm Tuning my Blizzard the Far North with my Brisote the Tailwind!" The white bird flew up into the air, turning into two purple stars that expanded out into purple rings. Brisote flapped her wings and flew into the rings, turning into five more stars before a brilliant purple light erupted within the rings. "Darkened gales, become the wings which will soar to heavens! Synchro Summon! Blackwing Armor Master!"

"Awesome!" Taiga shouted as a man in Blackwing armor stepped out of the light, orange highlights on his armor as a solitary red eye glared out from his helmet.

Blackwing Armor Master: Atk 2500, Def 1500, LV 7

Crow grinned as he made his next move. "Next I play my Trap card, Icarus Attack! Now by sacrificing my Blackwing- Bora the Spear, I can destroy two cards on the field! I'm going to get rid of your Lightsworn Barrier and your Realm of Light!" Bora the Spear transformed into twin orange rays of light that lanced out at Allana's cards. The Lightsworn Barrier was destroyed, but two of the white flames above the Realm of Light intercepted the second ray, leaving the temple untouched. "Hey, what gives?"

"I used my Realm of Light's special ability to save it from your little Trap," Allana explained. "By removing two Shine Counters from it, I can prevent its destruction. Sure it weakens my Arch-Lightsworn, but it's effect still leaves him stronger than any of your monsters."

Shine Counters: 2

Michael, Arch-Lightsworn: Atk 2800

"There's more than one way to get rid of a spell card," Crow countered. "I just don't have it in my hand right now. Still, that's not going to stop me from attacking that Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon with my Blackwing Armor Master!"

"Are you nuts?!" Dani exploded. "That thing's got way more attack points than your Armor Master."

"Maybe he's realized he can't win and trying to get it over with," Thomas suggested. Blackwing Armor Master charged forward, rearing his fist back to attack the Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon, who hissed at the sight of one who would threaten it. The Blackwing Synchro shouted a wordless battle cry before punching the Red-Eyes Synchro in the chest, much to the annoyance of the dragon.

"It would certainly prevent any unnecessary suffering," Allana agreed as the Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon roared and bathed the Blackwing Armor Master in crimson flames.

"I'm not going to throw in the towel any time soon," Crow said, "As my Blackwing Armor Master has a special ability that prevents him from being destroyed in battle. Not only that, but I take no damage from when he battles!" The flames died away to reveal the Blackwing Armor Master, looking just as chipper as before.

Thomas raised an eyebrow. "Then what was the point of attacking?"

"It's simple," Crow explained. "When my Blackwing attacked, he tagged your Dragon with a Wedge Counter. Now I can remove that Wedge Counter to reduce your Dragon's attack points to zero for the turn!" A small black spike fell off of the Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon and the Synchro Red-Eyes slumped noticeably.

"Now, Blackwing- Gale the Whirlwind, take down that Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon!" Crow commanded. The smaller of his Blackwings flew forward and flapped his wings, sending a powerful gale towards the dragon. The image of the Red-Eyes Baby Dragon suddenly appeared and took the blow, fading as quickly as it appeared and taking the maelstrom with it.

"What just happened?" Dani asked after a pause.

"I used my Red-Eyes Crimson's Dragon special ability!" Thomas explained. "By removing a Red-Eyes card from my Graveyard, I can negate your attack!"

Crow frowned at that, but bounced back quickly. "Fine. I'll end my turn with a face down."

"My turn then!" Thomas declared. "And your effect has now worn off, returning my Red-Eyes back to his full strength!"

"This is the end for the both of you!" Thomas declared dramatically, drawing a card.

Satellite Highway

Jack was grim as he sped down the road. The last time he'd been in this scenario, the world was at stake. Ten thousand years of darkness was a very grim scenario and he was glad Yusei had put a stop to it with his help. Still, despite the fact that he didn't know this Chaos Movement's final plans, he had a very bad feeling about this. While he'd had a glimpse of what would have happened with the Dark Signers had their nefarious plan succeeded, he was actually scared to think about what would happen if he failed. Maybe it was because he had more to lose now than he ever had as the Turbo King. Either way, he had work to do. This guy's Runner was fast. It had been several miles before he could start to catch up to the teal Duel Runner.

"I was beginning to wonder if I'd left you in the dust," Draco's raspy voice came over the radio as Jack closed the distance.

"Please," Jack scoffed, "My Runner is the fastest in all of New Domino!"

"That hunk of junk is nothing!" Draco shot back, revving his engines and beginning to pull away from Jack's Phoenix Whirlwind. "How about this; the first Runner to reach the curve goes first in our Turbo Duel."

"Bring it on!" Jack shouted, pushing his own Runner to the max. Despite having the best mechanics in New Domino available to work on his Runner, Jack was getting frustrated at his inability to catch up. Slowly, but surely, he was getting closer to his opponent, but he saw the curve in the distance starting to get closer and closer as well. Gritting his teeth, he willed on his Runner. The gap was closing. 10 yards. 5 yards. 2.

"Come on!" Jack yelled as he began to lean into the turn, but it was too late. Draco let out a shout of triumph as he rounded the corner first at full speed, cutting off Jack's attempt to pass and staying that way.

"We won't be using autopilot either," Draco declared, "This will be a Duel to truly test our skills!"

Jack wasn't too worried at that prospect, as his riding skills were top notch thanks to his time in the Turbo circuit. "Fine by me. You'll regret challenging me, Jack Atlas, to a Turbo Duel!"

"Duel mode engaged," his Duel Runner intoned at him, "Autopilot disabled."

"Oh, it was no mistake that I was the one sent to challenge you," Draco said. Jack could imagine the smirk on his face as his teal, draconic themed Runner seemed to mock him simply by staying in front of him. "My Dragon Rulers will be more than enough to take out your Red Dragon Archfiend!"

Jack snorted. "None of them have enough power to take on the one true ruler of dragons."

"Your Red Dragon Archfiend is but one dragon, and your Majestic Red Dragon is another," Draco responded, "I have my core four Dragon Rulers and a few new cards that will show you just how powerful my dragons truly are!"

"Duel!" Both Duelists shouted as they drew five cards and placed them in their respective card holders on their Duel Runners.

"I play the Field Spell Speed World 2!" Draco said.

"Speed World 2?" Jack repeated, curious. He'd heard rumors about there being a new Speed World card that was going to be used at the upcoming World Racing Grand Prix, he didn't know that it had been released. Then again, the Chaos Movement was coming at them with new cards left and right, of course they would have this new Speed World before anyone else.

"Now to start this Duel off proper," Draco said. "My turn!"

"Where did you get this Speed World 2?" Jack asked, interrupting Draco's thought process.

"The Master has access to all sorts of cards," Draco replied, "I've heard whispers that he even has a Speed World card far beyond Speed World 2."

"Like what, Speed World 4?" Jack snorted.

"Speed World 5," Draco corrected, "If Matthias is to be believed, and I believe him." Jack remained silent, taking that in. There were at least four more incarnations of Speed World following the one he was familiar with. While it meant that the era of Turbo Dueling was going to last a long time, it also meant that the game he knew so well was going to change, both in the near and far future. Shrugging it off, the former Turbo King focused on the road, doggedly chasing Draco as he began his turn.

"I Summon Shine, Dragon Ruler of Light in Attack mode!" Draco announced. A little yellow dragon appeared on the field, little white wings fluttering on its back as it flew alongside the draconic Runner.

"I place a card facedown and end my turn," Draco finished.

"Time to show you true power!" Jack shouted, drawing a card. He frowned at his opening hand. It could've been a lot better. That dragon of his wasn't helping matters either

"I Summon my Red Resonator in Defense mode," Jack began. A little fire fiend holding a tuning fork appeared on the field, sparks trailing after it as it flew alongside Jack's Runner.

"And thanks to his special ability, I'm allowed to Special Summon another Level four or lower monster from my hand," Jack continued, reaching over and grabbing another monster. "My Dark Resonator in Defense mode!" Another little field appeared, black robes covering its body as it held up its own tuning fork, making a gentle ringing sound before flying next to Red Resonator.

"I place two cards face down and end my turn," Jack finished. It would have to do for now.

"This is true power?!" Draco asked, mirth in his tone as he drew a card. "Seems rather lacking to me."

Speed Counters: 2

"But if that's the way you want to play it, then so be it!" The Ruler of Dragons shouted, "I play the Speed Spell- Foolish Burial to send my Eclipse Wyvern from my Deck to my Grave, which allows me to banish a Level 7 or higher Dragon from my Deck. I'll send Buster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos to the great beyond, but he won't be there for long. First I activate the special ability of my Shade, Dragon Ruler of Shadows in my hand and discard it and my Exploder Dragon in my hand to the Graveyard in order to Special Summon one of my most powerful Dragon Rulers!" Darkness began swirling around Draco's Runner, forcing Jack to concentrate on driving and not wiping out as the darkness spread. He could barely see the firewalls that marked the edges of their track.

"What is this?" he growled as the track curved around several buildings, weaving in and out between the alleys and testing Jack's considerable riding skills. Two dragons, one a dark purple and looking rather rugged, the other a blue dragon carrying an egg-shaped bomb, flew into the ground and opened up a dark purple portal to the side of the teal Duel Runner.

"Behold the dragon that is where the light isn't. Master of darkness, ruler of the night, I Special Summon Necro, Dragon Ruler of Abyss!" Draco shouted. A large craggy, quad-winged dragon appeared from the darkness below Draco's Runner. The roar that ripped from the dragon's throat was unlike anything Jack had ever heard before, and the purple glow coming from the crystals seemingly growing out of its chest only added to the mystique and power of this new dragon.

Draco laughed. "I'm not done yet! Where there are shadows, there is also light. I'm sending my Shine, Dragon Ruler of Light and my Flamvell Guard to the Grave in order to Special Summon Luster, Dragon Ruler of Heavens! Welcome the dragon that soars above us all, a beacon of light for those in the dark!" Shine turned into a ball of light and was joined by the fireball that had been the Flamvell Guard, both balls flying high into the sky. There was a flash of light in the clouds above the kanji for dragons before another roar echoed down. The new dragon descended from the heavens, a brilliant golden color infusing its scales. Luster flared his wings and it looked like miniature galaxies were trapped in the underside of its wings. The beautiful dragon flew alongside its dark counterpart, ready to do his master's bidding.

"Now then, time to wipe out your puny defenses!" Draco shouted, pointing a finger at the two Resonators. "Luster, Dragon Ruler of Heavens, attack his Red Resonator now with your Heavenly Draco Meteor!" The Light Dragon Ruler gathered a ball of orange, blue, and green energy in its mouth before firing the ball skywards. It burst out in and became a sudden meteor shower that both Jack and his Resonators had to dodge. While Dark Resonator and Jack managed to avoid the crashing meteors, Red Resonator was not so lucky and was struck by three of the draconic meteors, instantly destroying the little Fiend.

"That all you got?" Jack challenged with bravado.

"Not even close!" Draco shot back. "Necro, Dragon Ruler of Abyss, it's your turn! Destroy his Dark Resonator with your Phantom Force Strike!" The Dark Dragon Ruler roared and faded into the ground. The Dark Resonator glanced around warily and was flung backwards by a roaring dragon. Much to Draco's surprise, the Resonator was not destroyed, but instead remained on the field, floating alongside Jack's Runner. "What?!"

"Dark Resonator's special ability allows him to avoid being destroyed by battle once per turn," Jack pointed out.

"Fair enough," Draco shrugged. "I'll move to my Main Phase Two!"

"Like you have anything that can touch me this turn," Jack snorted. "When my turn ends, your dragons will return to your hand."

"So they would, normally," Draco agreed. "Which is why I'm going to use both my dragons now to get a monster that will last beyond one turn."

"How?!" Jack was bewildered. "You have no Tuner monsters on the field!"

"I don't need Tuner monsters for this particular kind of Summon," Draco replied with a grin. "I'm going to Overlay."

"What?!" Jack was stunned as he watched the two mighty dragons leap up into the air, becoming twin orbs of light and darkness respectively. They orbited each other, spinning around faster and faster until a portal of light and darkness grew between them.

"These two dragons now fuel the power of this one dragon!" Draco shouted. "XYZ Summon! Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger!" From the portal flew a man riding a dragon that looked a lot like the famous Gaia the Dragon Champion from the old showings of Yugi's past Duels, except that they were colorful mechanical replicas of the original. The two orbs of light and darkness began to orbit the new dragon, highlighting the Chaos Movement's tendency towards light and darkness.

"XYZ Summon?" Jack repeated quietly to himself. "So this is what Akiza was talking about."

"Don't even bother trying to hide behind Defense position monsters now!" Draco boomed, looking quite proud of himself. "This might dragon can smash through any defense! You're finished! I end my turn!"

"You may have a new method of Summoning," Jack began, "But it will not stand up to the king's power that is mine! My turn!"

Finally, the chapter is done! The Duels have started and it's getting intense! We get our first look at some of the newer Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes cards that are out, they're going to be fun to play with once I get them in real life. Hope you all enjoyed the chapter!

Fan made cards and their creators are as follows:

Red-Eyes Baby Dragon, who belongs to newmoonlong on Deviantart

Red-Eyes Crimson Dragon belongs to Raphtil on Deviantart

Luster, Dragon Ruler of Heavens, and Necro, Dragon Ruler of Abyss belong to Batmed on Deviantart

Shine, Dragon Ruler of Light and Shade, Dragon Ruler of Shadows (baby versions of the aforementioned Luster and Necro) belong to yours truly, I just don't have any artwork for them.

Question for the chapter: What archetypes do you think should get a Synchro monster? Obviously, I think Red-Eyes should've gotten a Synchro, as well as Dark Magician, but there are others that could use some more modern variations for their Decks, like Elemental Heroes for instance. Let me know, and this could extend to XYZs of course. What Deck do you think should get more modern aces, be it Synchros, XYZs, or even Pendulums?
