Next chapter! This is the definitely the more interesting half ;) I kind of, I don't know, feel like I'm writing Christian and Rose as dicks and Liss as the victim, only everyone's still routing for RosexChristian. Kind of reminds me of Skylar in Breaking Bad. Nobody really likes her even though she hasn't really done anything wrong. Anyway, hope I'm not making Rose or Christian seem to mean or anything.
Also, I meant to say, but, because I'm British I probably use some like weird phrasing with stuff, so if I say anything that people think is like weird or something, just say and I'll try to avoid using it in the future.
Thanks so much for the reviews! And check out Shake Me Down if you're interested in my other Christian x Rose story! :D
We all said our goodbyes and I shut the door behind them. I jumped when I saw that someone was almost directly behind me. "Oh, hey, this is your house, right?" I asked the guy, who I recognised from when we'd first arrived.
"Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean to make you jump." He assured me, leaning against the wall casually and clearly wanting to talk for a bit. "How come they left so early?" He inquired.
"They're staying in a hotel that shuts pretty soon." I explained. "Me and Christian are staying with Viktoria, so we're just going whenever she does."
"I see. I would've thought it'd be Christian and Lissa staying together. They are together, right?" I was slightly surprised he'd managed to remember their names, but I supposed he didn't look very drunk. Plus they were pretty famous in the Moroi world; I wondered if it was the same with the Dhampirs here, too.
"Yeah, they are." I agreed. "But I'm close to Viktoria's brother and the Belikov's all know Christian's Aunt really well, so it just worked out that way."
The guy looked like he was considering his next words well. "Christian likes you, doesn't he? At least, there's definitely something going on there."
I knew I'd probably paled considerably. "How did you pick up on that?" I demanded. "I mean, are you really not drunk at all? And I'm sure it's not that obvious. Besides, I mean, nothing is really going on. It kind of was and now it's not. Definitely not. Ever again." My voice was small by the end and I sighed. "Seriously, how did you guess? Literally no one else knows. Well, apart from one person."
He chuckled. "I don't know, I guess I'm good at reading people. It's pretty obvious he's into you and the fact you didn't push him away when he practically snuggled your hair kind of gave it away." Then he grinned. "Plus, I'm really not drunk at all."
"Well, I mean, you'll probably never see Liss again, so I guess there's no point in really asking you to never tell anyone. Though I don't think anyone would ever believe it if you did anyway."
"I was never going to tell anyone." He assured me with a slight smile. "I just thought it'd be funny to see your reaction. I'm glad you didn't hit me."
I grinned. "I think I might be a bit too drunk for that."
"You really should be more subtle, though." He chastised me. "I mean, I'm not going to pretend to notice the details, but I'm sure people would be able to read the looks you give each other a mile off if they were paying attention."
I sighed and deflated a bit. "Yeah, it's only because we're drunk." I assured him gently. "And because Liss was annoying Christian, it's not normally like that at all. I avoid them as much as I can anyway." I admitted without really meaning to.
Whatever response this perceptive guy might have given, however, was interrupted by Christian's presence. He strolled over and wrapped a secure arm around my shoulder. "Hey," he greeted, practically ignoring the host. "I was looking for you. Did they go home?"
"Yeah." I replied. "A few minutes ago."
"Oh right, I didn't say goodbye to Liss." He realised. Then his smile sagged. "I've been a real dick to her tonight, haven't I?"
I shrugged. "No, it's fine. It's only because your drunk." I tried to assure him. "Let's go and sit down."
"Real subtle." The guy called after us, Christian's arm remaining around me as we collapsed onto the nearest sofa. Because of his positioning, I automatically slumped against him, my head resting on him slightly.
"What was that guy on about?" He inquired, having only heard the last comment.
"Apparently he figured out that there's something between us." I said it dismissively, but the fact that some random person had worked it out was actually pretty worrying. "He wasn't drunk though, so that's why."
"Oh, wow." Christian murmured. "Rose, were you a dick to Liss too? She didn't feel too bad did she?"
I shook my head. "No, she's fine." I assured him, feeling equally as guilty as Christian apparently did. "She was really drunk anyway. She kept going on about how she thought you didn't care as much any more, but I think I convinced her otherwise."
Christian was watching me with evident surprise. "You don't have to do stuff like that." He murmured.
I shrugged. "I know. But I should. She's my best friend, it makes her happy to hear it. Besides, it's the truth. Everything will work out fine, she has nothing to worry about."
The arm tightened around my shoulder so much it was almost painful and I let my gaze fall away from Christian to stare at the floor instead. "I'm sorry, Rose." I barely heard his whisper.
I made myself laugh and sound cheery. "It's not your fault, Christian. It's no one's fault, it's just the way it is. You don't have to worry about me."
Our conversation was cut short when Viktoria stumbled into the room and collapsed down at the side of me, leaning on my side just as I was doing to Christian. "Do you guys want to go now? I'm nearly falling back to sleep."
I chuckled. It was probably a good idea. If Christian and I sat here any longer our conversation would end up becoming even more personal than it already was, and that could never be good when we were this drunk. "Sure."
As we left, the guy who's house it was sent me a knowing smirk, which I ignored. It was unnerving, even in this state, when we'd managed to not be found out for so long. The walk back to Olena's was quite a while and I began to feel nervous as we moved away from the centre of Baia and towards the more country roads.
Christian picked up on it, though. "It's fine, Rose. Stop worrying." He assured me. "I'm still full of kill potential."
I sighed. "It'd be just my luck, for it to happen, though. And after last time." I didn't need to continue for him to know what I was thinking. My eyes scanned the surroundings as best as I could with my limited reaction times. "This was such a stupid idea."
"There's hardly ever Strigoi here." Viktoria tried to assure me. "And if there were, there are much better targets than us. Two Dhampirs and one Moroi isn't a prime target."
"You'd still kick their asses, even drunk." Christian teased, though I knew he truly believed it. "And it'd definitely be a sight in that dress, anyway."
I rolled my eyes. "It's a good job it's dark."
Christian looked like he was on the verge of making a much more obvious comment, but luckily he held his tongue. "How much further is it?" He complained, instead.
"Only ten minutes." Viktoria assured us. "I really like Adrian." She pouted.
I couldn't help but grin. "Yeah, he's a good guy."
"Right." Christian commented sarcastically.
I smirked. "You're just jealous." I teased. "I thought you'd gotten over that."
Christian shook his head. "I'm not jealous because of Liss any more." He answered, though there were certain implications I could make from that sentence. I flushed and thanked the darkness once more.
I wasn't sure if I was supposed to reply to that, but the "good" has slipped out of my mouth before I could help it. Our gazes met and I was forced to look away again. It was a good job Viktoria was so out of it.
"How come you don't want to go to Lehigh?" I asked Christian suddenly. I'd forgotten that I'd meant to question him on that.
"How'd you know?" Christian asked with a small amount of surprise.
I rolled my eyes. "I don't know how Liss is so oblivious to your emotions. I think she might be in denial." It came out harsher than I thought and I coughed slightly. "I mean, it was pretty obvious."
Thankfully Christian didn't comment on my bitchiness. "It's not really Lehigh itself." He explained. "I'm just not looking forward to living at Court and having to attend all this royal bullshit. I wanted to go to a big university, I guess." He sighed. "I'm not even entirely sure why I don't want to go."
"But I'll be there." I teased, though mentally it was twinged with sadness. It didn't really make any difference whether I was there. I was a factor in anything.
Christian must have noticed my dimmed expression, though, and wrapped an arm around my shoulder again. "I guess it could be worse." He joked back.
"I'd give anything to get out of this place." Viktoria sighed. "It's so boring around here. Dimka tells me all the stories about you Rose and it sounds like so much more interesting."
I couldn't help but chuckle. "Trust me, my life definitely isn't as glorious as he's made it out to be." I glanced away then. "In fact, it's been pretty awful. Sure, he's told you about how I killed some Strigoi, but how about how one of my close friends died, and Christian got taken and almost killed. You're pretty lucky you don't have to deal with that stuff."
Christian's arm tightened around me and Viktoria looked guilty for even mentioning it. "I'm sorry, I had no idea, I mean, Dimka said someone died, but I didn't realise it was someone you were close to."
I waved her off. "It's okay."
"And you got taken?" She pressed, I knew her curiosity got the better of her, despite what I'd just said. I supposed I'd be the same if I hadn't been through what I had.
"Yeah, but Rose came and saved me, so it was okay." His tone remained light and his gaze on me was affectionate.
"Only because you saved me first." I teased back, allowing myself to grin. I wasn't about to let rubbish memories ruin my night.
"I can't quite work out whether you two are flirting really bad, you hate each other, or your just being normal." Viktoria complained, her eyebrows furrowing.
"It's the second one, trust me." I answered immediately, smirking at Christian, who returned a dazzling smile, so that I almost stumbled. I didn't think I'd seen Christian look so amazing for a long time. I bit my lip as I watched him and something in his expression changed slightly.
Viktoria made a small noise. "No, I'm pretty sure it's the first one."
I made myself look away from Christian. "It's just that we get on so awfully when we're sober that it seems that way when we're drunk." I joked, making myself step out of Christian's arm. "Oh, we're back." I realised as Viktoria pulled her keys out of her small bag. "I guess it was shorter than I thought."
Viktoria wasn't particularly quiet as she stumbled through the door and I wondered whether she did this kind of stuff often, or if we'd be blamed for being a bad influence. I didn't exactly look like a very good role model right now, as I tried to slip out of my shoes without falling over.
Walking through to the kitchen, we were greeted by Dimitri, who was sat reading his Western at the table, eating a slice of the black bread his mother cooked really well. He sighed as we came in. "I didn't think you'd drink, Rose." He muttered.
I flushed. "Yeah, me neither." I admitted. "Sorry, Comrade."
"It was my fault." Christian tried to assure him. "I traded not being a dick to Liss if Rose drank. She was technically being a good guardian, I think."
I snorted. "I didn't think it'd matter if it was only Christian and Viktoria." I tried to cover myself. "I think Christian might actually be better at killing Strigoi than me."
Christian flushed slightly at that and Dimitri rolled his eyes. "I guess it doesn't matter, since you got home safe anyway." He acknowledged.
I grinned at him. "Thanks, Comrade."
"How come you're still up Dimka?" Viktoria asked, sliding down into the chair beside him and grabbing a slice of the bread.
"Couldn't sleep."
"You were totally worried about us." I smirked. I was glad I'd said us instead of me like I was going to originally. It wasn't really fair to tease Dimitri like this.
To my surprise, Dimitri actually laughed. "Only because you're so irresponsible."
"Hey!" I complained. Then I felt how heavy my limbs were. "I'm going to bed." I decided. "Night Comrade. Night Viktoria. Thanks for taking us to the party."
"Any time." She assured us with a grin. "I had a good time."
Christian followed me upstairs and I stripped from my dress and into pyjamas without much concern for him seeing me naked. He was doing the same and not paying attention anyway. After cleaning my teeth, I was about to lift up the covers to my bed on the floor when Christian touched my arm.
"Rose, you're freezing." He commented, reaching around to test out my other arm, too.
I shrugged. "I'll warm up."
Christian gave me a disbelieving look. "Just get in the bed."
I would have hesitated more, had I been thinking more rationally, but now Christian mentioned it I was feeling particularly chilly and his bed, which would have him lying in it shirtless in a minute, was very inviting.
"Okay." I agreed, sliding underneath the covers and wrapping myself up.
Arms slid around my waist without hesitation and dragged me backwards so that my back was snugly against Christian's chest. "Better?" He inquired, a knowing tone in his voice.
"Yeah." My voice was small and I found heat rising to my cheeks.
"I miss the field experience." Christian admitted suddenly. "Like, really bad."
I smiled, in spite of myself, and rotated in Christian's arms so that I was facing him. "Me too." I agreed. "It feels like I never see you any more."
Christian began running his hand up and down my arm in a way that I wasn't sure whether it was subconscious or on purpose. "I'm really glad I was asked to stay here."
Grinning, our legs tangled automatically whilst we adjusted to get comfy. "Christian." I said his name, but I wasn't sure what I wanted to say after it. Well, I knew what I wanted to say, I just couldn't quite allow myself to. I let my hand to the talking, as it traced patterns on the bare skin of his chest. "You know we can't do this, right?" I finally spoke as I became increasingly worked up by Christian's fingers, which had began adventuring to my legs and back.
Christian sounded almost breathless in his response. "I know."
But our mouths met, hot and insistent. My nails dug into his skin unrestricted and I groaned at the violent contact I'd longed so much for. Christian grasped my leg so hard it'd leave bruises to hike it up and allow his already hard cock to brush against my most sensitive area.
"You have no idea how much I've wanted this, Christian." My sentence ended on a moan as Christian removed my t-shirt. I wasn't wearing a bra so his hands claimed my breasts as soon as it was gone, tweaking my nipples just hard enough that the pain was pleasurable.
"Fuck, Rose. I need you so much." It was the exact response I'd been hoping for and Christian's clothes didn't last long either as I pulled his boxers down his legs first with my hands and then my feet.
Pushing him onto his back, I slid my was down his body, my mouth lavishing everything it could get to on the way, sucking and biting the soft flesh. My name fell like a prayer from Christian's lips when I finally let my tongue swipe across the tip of his member.
I didn't get time to be gentle, though, because Christian had grabbed my hair and forced my mouth down, almost causing me to gag. It only made me wetter, though, being treated this rough. And Christian knew it, as he continued to move my head up and down without respite.
Eventually, he pulled me away and rolled me onto my back, his smug smirk looking down from where he hovered above me. "Enjoy that?" He taunted, deciding he was going to treat me now, as he ran a single finger down the length of my body, barely running over the tip of my nipple.
I groaned out an unintelligible response and Christian only looked more smug. Lowering his face to my centre, he wasted no time in pressing his tongue to my most sensitive spot and causing me to arch my back in surprise, my hands flying to his hair to push him in further. His fingers entered me, gentle for only a second before they were pushing into my hard and fast and making me have to hold back the loud moans which threatened to alert the whole house of what we were doing.
"Ah, Christian." I gasped out his name as my legs began to shake and I was sure I would have left marks on his back the way nails dug into it unforgivingly. My orgasm hit me hard and I was left a panting mess as Christian slowed his pumps before pulling his hand out completely and sniffing it.
"I didn't even realise I found that hot." I commented as he wiped my juices onto the bedding, my voice shaky.
Christian only grinned, lowering himself down and allowing me to wrap my legs around him. He pulled a condom from somewhere and slid it on before allowing his dick to enter me agonisingly slowly. We groaned in unison when it couldn't go any further. "Fuck, Rose." He muttered into my ear, one hand digging his nails into my hips and the other with a secure hold on my hair, forcing me to watch him as he started bucking into me mercilessly.
Rubbing my own clit as Christian paid some much needed attention to my nipple, I found myself climaxing again, my free hand digging hard into Christian's skin. Since Christian was staying here for the next few days I didn't have to worry about the red marks I knew I was leaving all over his skin. And it turned me on more than I thought it would.
Christian slumped on top of me soon after. "Wow." He breathed, rolling off to the side and allowing me to cuddle into his side.
"Yeah." I agreed. "Definitely."
We shared a chuckle. "You don't think we were really loud, do you?" He inquired, half serious.
I shook my head. "Dimitri would have definitely busted in if we were." I told him with a small giggle. That really would be the most awkward situation I could imagine.
Christian traced random patterns on my skin as we fell into a sleepy silence in a way that always made my skin tingle. I couldn't help but grin and snuggle my face further into him.
"I really like spending time with you." I admitted, my hand gripping him slightly tighter. "And not just to fuck. Though, I mean, that's obviously really awesome too."
I felt rather than heard Christian's slight chuckle. "Yeah, me too, Rose." He agreed. "I just really like you in general."
I beamed, though it was silly reaction to have. The whole situation was silly and the fact that we'd let ourselves give into it again was ridiculous. "I really like you too." It was the worst and best response I could give at the same time.
I wasn't going to ruin tonight with the silly fact that he was my best friend's boyfriend, though.
So, I'm never sure whether I should put like a 'mature content' warning at the top of the chapter or not. I feel like it kinda gives spoilers :( If anyone wants me to do it from now on though, let me know :)
