"Mother." She said in a cold voice. "How did you get here?"
Regina looked her mother right in the eye, it didn't help that her mother's eyes were the exact same color as hers.
There was a small hint of a smile on Cora's lips. "I'm going to be a grandmother." She said in the same, sickly sweet voice that still haunted Regina's dreams. The older woman's eyes were trained on her daughter's protruding stomach.
Regina's first instinct was to protect her stomach by covering it with both of her hands, or to magically teleport herself to a place far away from here. But something in her mother's eyes made her just stand there, wanting to hear what the woman has to say.
"No, you're not." She was never going to let her mother near her daughter, or near Henry for that matter. She was going to do everything in her power to make sure that that won't ever happen. "No answer my question. How did you get here?"
Cora's gaze left Regina's stomach and instead focussed on her daughter's brown orbs once again. She decided to answer the question, even though it was asked rather rude. "I came here on a pirate ship named the Jolly Roger, darling."
Regina wanted to puke at the pet name, litterally. But the name Jolly Roger certainly sounded very familiar. "You came here with Hook, didn't you?"
Cora nodded. "Yes, I came here for you, Regina. I- I want you to know that I'm really sorry for what I've done to you, my darl-"
"Don't." Regina interrupted. "Don't- don't call me that, you have no right to call me that. Don't you think that perhaps I had a good reason to push you through the looking glass. I wanted you out of my life! And I sure as hell don't want you anywhere near my son, or my daughter!" Regina took a step back.
Cora smiled. "It's a girl?"
"Yes, and I will be a better mother to her than you've ever been to me."
Cora's smile faded, instead it was replaced by a sad look. "Regina, I'm so sorry for what I did to you. I should've never made you marry King Leop-"
"Don't you dare say that bastard's name in front of me!" Regina yelled and she closed her eyes for a moment, willing the tears to go away, she didn't want to show weakness in front of the very same woman who had drilled it into her head that showing emotions gives your enemy an advantage. And it pained Regina to say, but her mother was her enemy.
Cora immediately snapped her mouth closed. She could sense that the king was a very hard topic for Regina to talk about and she swallowed when she thought about why. "Who's the father?" She instead asked, she really wanted to get to know her daughter.
Regina opened her eyes and moved her hand to rub her belly, her little girl was frantically kicking her. There was a fire burning in her brown orbs. "Why would I tell you that?! So you could rip his heart out? Again?"
Cora tentavily took a step forward and reached out a hand to stroke her daughters cheek. But Regina flinched away the moment she saw her mother's hand nearing her. That hand had brought her so much misery and pain, not just physically but also mentally.
Cora wanted to say something else but she was interrupted by a familiar voice. The voice of a certain Savior.
"Get away from Regina." Emma said slowly, making sure the older woman heard every word clearly. She pulled her gun from her holster and pointed it directly at the witch. She rounded her and stopped when she stood next to Regina.
"Are you alright, did she hurt you or the baby?"
Regina shook her head and blinked her tears back. "No. She didn't."
"Cora Mills you're under arrest for... I don't know, but I'll find something."
Emma pulled the metal handcuffs from her back pocket. Cora looked up to her daughter. "If I come with you, will you let us try over?"
Regina shook her head and let out a shuddering breath. "I don't see that happening mother, but this is a start."
Cora nodded and held out her arms. If this was a chance to make up with her daughter, she would gladly take it.
...
The fairy dust left behind a soft blue hue on the metal bars of the jail in the sheriffs station. The blue fairy took a small step back and looked at her handywork. "That should do it."
Even though Regina had objected to bringing the blue fairy here because in her opinion, the blue mosquito couldn't be trusted, she also knew that fairy dust worked the best if it was casted by an actual fairy.
Cora took a step forwards. She touched the enchanted metal bars and immediately felt a soft shock go through her body. She quickly retracted her hands. Blue smiled triumphantly, Cora was right where she belonged. In a cage.
"Thank you Blue." Emma said with a soft nod towards the nun.
"Of course, princess." She answered and left the building.
Regina wanted to get away from the woman that she called mother as quickly a possible. She reached down to grab her purse when she suddenly felt a stabbing pain in her stomach. A pained gasp filled the room and both woman immediately turned to look at Regina, who was clutching her stomach, with concern evident on their faces.
The pain was so acute that Regina needed to steady herself on the desk. She gripped the wood with a tight grip, her knuckles turning white from the force of her grip.
"Regina?!" Both woman said in unison. Emma rushed to her side and steadied her. "Are you alright?!"
Regina didn't answer, instead she breathed deeply, in and out. "Emma... something is wrong!" Regina said and she rubbed her stomach again when the shooting pain made itself present again.
Emma reached for Regina's shoulder and let the brunette lean on her. "I'm taking you to the hospital." She led the pregnant woman out of the station, leaving a very worried mother behind.
...
"My name is Daniel Reyes, I'm here for my fiancé Regina Mils." Daniel said quickly when he reached the desk.
The nurse nodded at him and checked some sort of file. "She's in room 138."
"Thank you." Daniel said and he rushed towards the room where his fiancé and child were."
When he came into the room he saw Regina lying the table and dr. Cross performing an ultrasound. Emma was sitting in the chair next to the table and was staring at the screen in amazement. The three women looked up when he entered the room.
"What happened? Is something wrong with the baby?" He asked and closed the door behind him.
"No, Daniel. Everything is fine." Regina said with a smile. "The doctor said that it's round ligament pain, and that I should just rest."
He let out a relieved breath. "When did it happen?" He asked.
"When we arrested Cora." Emma answered and then snapped her mouth closed.
Regina shot her a glare. And Daniel's eyes went wide with shock. "Cora's here?!"
"Daniel, don't. She's locked up in cell that blocks her magic, she can't hurt anyone." Regina said in a soothing voice while she wiped her 5 months pregnant belly clean with a cloth.
It took a while for the words to sink in and when they did Daniel walked over to her and kissed her. "Promise me you will stay away from her."
Regina closed her eyes. "I don't know if I can, Daniel. She's still my mother, and I need her to tell me, I need her to tell me why."
Daniel nodded his head in defeat. He understood. "As long as you're carful. I can't lose you Regina."
She kissed him again. "I will never leave you."
