Jail Time
Peter was sure there was a rule about engaging with murder suspects but apparently it didn't apply to the people of Storybrooke.
Regina came as soon as she'd heard the news. As Mayor she soon made it her business to know all about the case and walked into the sheriff's station looking smug. Her face was simply glowing at the sight of Peter Pan locked up with Snow White in the cell next to him.
As he watched her converse with Emma, Peter silently pictured ways he could wipe the smirk off Regina's face.
Whatever they were discussing Emma was not happy about it. Grabbing her keys Emma made a comment and stormed out of the office, pausing momentarily to give Mary Margaret a reassuring nod. Regina watched Emma leave before looking over at her captives.
'You have blood on your shirt.' Regina commented walking towards Peter's cage. Peter scowled. He approached her, stopping just short of the metal bars.
'I'm going for a new look.' Peter said. Regina flashed him a toothy smile.
'It suits you.' Regina stated moving closer. She was now stood so close Peter could reach out and touch her. The idea of his hands wrapped round her neck crossed his mind but before he could put any thoughts into action, Regina's smile widened as if she could read his mind and took a small step back, just out of reach.
'You didn't do this.' She said tilting her head in amusement.
Peter raised an eyebrow, a cocky smile spread on his face.
'I think you'll find that I did.' Peter said.
'It's too sloppy.' Regina scoffed. 'Even for you.'
'Your right, it was sloppy.' Peter said smiling sweetly. 'My anger got the better of me and I just….' He snapped his fingers, 'snapped.'
'Your smarter than that.' Regina said folding her arm, the smug look still on her face. 'Who are you protecting?'
'You think you know me Regina but you don't.' Peter snapped. 'I got bored, I killed a couple of people. It's what I do.'
'And look at the price you have to pay. This is your second stay in the Sheriff's cell, are you that desperate for some attention?' Regina laughed. 'Or do you hate your life that much that your willing to just throw it away?'
'Yes, here I am in Emma Swan's jail cell,' Peter smirked, opening up his arms before slapping them back down to his sides. Peter took a step closer so that his face was almost touching the bars. 'And maybe, just maybe I'm exactly where I want to be.' He said in a low threatening voice.
'Hmmm.' Regina looked at him thoughtfully. 'Or maybe your just a boy stuck in a cage.' She took another step back and looked over at Mary Margaret. Giving Mary Margaret a wide grin Regina watched with satisfaction as the young woman shrank back on her bed.
'You two have a nice day.' Regina smiled brightly before waltzing out of the room.
Peter let out a deep sigh and sat down on his bed.
'Did you do it?' Mary Margaret asked quietly. Peter glanced over at her.
'Lets just be quiet shall we?' He muttered. 'Just because we're the only ones here does not mean we have to talk.' Peter swung his feet up onto the bed and swivelled round so he could lie down. He put his arm over his eyes, blocking out the light.
'I can do this.' Sally muttered to herself as she approached the school doors. The building felt like it was looming over her, filling her with dread. Steeling herself for what was to come Sally pushed the door and walked in.
All eyes were on her. People moved hurriedly out of her way, allowing her to walk down the corridor unhindered. She could hear the whispers, some whispered sympathy, others whispered about the vicious rumours surrounding the death of her parents.
'I heard she's been sleeping with Mr Young.'
'Mr Young went crazy and killed her parents in front of her.'
'She doesn't look that upset.'
'Apparently she saw the whole thing.'
She started to quicken her pace, her eyes trained on the ground in front of her. Her locker seemed miles away and what only took minutes to reach felt like a lifetime.
Reaching her locker, Sally struggled with the lock. Her fingers couldn't work the combination. Tears of frustration began to block her vision. The longer she fought with the locker the louder people's conversations seemed to get. Gossip about her circulating with no concern that she could hear every word said against her.
The combination finally clicked into place and Sally was able to tear the lock from the door and hastily opened the door. Sally let out a shaky breath. Her head started to spin. Feeling light headed Sally closed her eyes. Images of her parents filled her mind. Panicking Sally's breathing quickened and her eyes snapped back open. The voices around her began to sound muffled.
'Hey, you ok?' A male voice asked her. She couldn't quite hear him. Darkness seemed to swarm around the edges her vision expanding rapidly so that she could barely focus on anything in front of her. Someone grabbed onto her and helped her move into one of the empty classrooms. She was guided to a chair by the window.
Feeling sick Sally put her head in between her knees, consciously trying to take slow deep breaths. The window was opened and the cool air was a welcome sensation on her clammy skin. After a few minutes her hearing no longer sounded muffled
'Here drink this.' A small cup was placed in her shaky hands. Sally sat up slowly and took a small sip.
For a moment she started to feel better but then the images of her parents, lifeless and covered in blood swam back into her head and she began to breathe quicker. Tears started to fall as she struggled to breath normally again.
The man noticed and crouched down beside her.
'Hey, hey, look at me.' He said gently. 'Wendy look at me.' She glanced up and for the first time registered the man.
'What?' She stumbled on her words. 'What did you call me?'
'I need you to focus now, we have a lot to do.' He told her.
'Do I know you?' She asked him. She had a strange feeling that she knew this man but she couldn't place him. Panic rushed over her as she realised she was alone with a man she didn't know.
'I don't know you.' Her voice wavered as she started to get upset. 'I don't know you.' She took a strangled breath. Her head started to feel fuzzy. Looking down at the cup in her hand, she frowned. A new sensation of helplessness took over her as her body started to relax and she felt incredibly tired.
'No.' She muttered as her eyes drooped. The man gently took the cup from her.
'Everything will be alright Wendy, your safe now.'
That was the last thing she heard before falling unconscious.
Henry had come practically running into the sheriff's department.
'Mr Young!' Henry said racing to the bars. Peter raised his arm high enough to peek out from underneath and sighed.
'I don't answer to that name Henry.' He scolded.
'I'm going to find out who did this.' Henry told him urgently. 'I'll get you out of here.'
'Henry, you should leave.' Mary Margaret interrupted. 'If your mother finds out you're here.'
'She isn't my mother.' Henry shot back. 'She is the Evil Queen and she's the reason your both locked up.'
'Henry, you can't help me.' Peter muttered.
'Yes I can, I will find out who really killed the Sparrows and then…'
'I killed them Henry.' Peter said. He sat up and raked a hand through his hair. 'Why does no one want to believe me?'
'Because you can't have, your Peter Pan.' Henry said. 'You're one of the good guys.'
'Am I?' Peter's anger boiled over. 'I have seen what good guys can do Henry, its not all black and white.'
'I know that but,' Henry said.
'Henry we are not fairy tale characters.' Mary Margaret interrupted. 'You shouldn't be here.'
'No he shouldn't.' Emma said storming into the room. 'Henry go home.'
'But Emma I want to help.' Henry said rushing over to her. Emma stopped briefly to talk to him.
'Go home.' She demanded. Turning her attention to Peter she rushed over to him.
'Where is she?' She said, the demanding tone still in her tone.
'Who?' Peter asked innocently.
'Sally Sparrow, where is she?' Emma frowned as Peter's face expressed his confusion.
'Well she hasn't been to visit.' He said mimicking Emma's frown. 'What's going on?'
'She was seen being carried and loaded into the back seat of a red sports car. The description of the man matches your good friend Jefferson, so I'll ask again where is she?' Emma's eyes were wild. Clearly she thought Sally was in danger.
'Why did no one stop him?' Disbelief was Peter's first reaction.
'Everyone was inside. The witness saw it through a class window and by then it was too late.' Emma said.
'He could have literally taken her anywhere.' Peter said. He rubbed his forehand. 'I didn't think he was even in Storybrooke anymore.' He muttered.
'Where would he take her?' Emma asked.
'I don't know.' Peter shouted, losing his temper.
'Oh my god, Emma do you think he will hurt her?' Mary Margaret asked.
'No, he'd never hurt her.' Peter said quickly.'
'Think Peter, where would he take her?' Emma's tone was still urgent but it wasn't as cold.
'I don't know, the woods maybe?' Peter guessed. Without another word Emma turned tail and rushed out.
'I don't suppose you have a key on you?' Peter said dryly to Mary Margaret before fishing in his pockets.
'What key? I don't know what your talking about?' Mary Margaret said defensively. Peter shot her a confused look.
'It was a joke.' He said. Finding his hair pin Peter walked over to the door.
'Why do you have a hair pin?' Mary Margaret asked.
'Don't judge me.' Peter scowled. 'Hair accessory to you, ideal lock picker to me.' Peter said sticking it into the lock. 'Never leave home without one.'
'You can't run away from this. You have to face up to what you've done.' Mary Margaret said. Peter tried to ignore her.
'Do you know where she is?' Mary Margaret said realisation dawning on her. 'Did you plan this?'
'No I did not plan this.' Peter snapped. The lock clicked and the door swung open. 'Now if you excuse me I have a bird to find and a hatter to kill.'
