Three more chapters to go. I do not own Yugioh, enjoy!
Chapter 28
The front of his shirt was grabbed and he was yanked into the house, and thrown onto the hardwood floor. He clutched his elbow as the door slammed shut behind him. A foot was jammed into his side, as a hand tangled into his hair yanking his head back. He cried out in pain as Natalie's angry face came really close to his.
"Don't fuck with me, Mutou. My niece is upstairs with her Queen. She wouldn't dare throw her life away for some petty Pawns." Natalie growled tossing him away from her. Yugi cried out in pain as his cheek hit the corner of something. He reached up to find blood coming from the cut. Natalie stalked towards him as a pounding of feet sounded on the steps.
Yugi whimpered and backed away from her. Crawling, on his hands and knees. He was scared that if he stood up, then she would see it as a threat, and pound on him even worse than she was currently doing. Natalie reached forwards though, and grasped the front of his shirt again pulling back her fist to hit him. Yugi squeezed his eyes shut, turning his head to the side as he braced himself for the impact. He heard someone gasp from a little ways off, and then he was hit across the left eye.
"Natalie! No! What are you doing?!" Serenity yelled. Yugi was released and he fell to the ground.
"He said she was dead! He said Mira was dead!" Natalie screamed as Yugi picked himself up off the ground.
"She is! She walked out the front door alone to save us all!" Rebecca shouted. Yugi could barely see out of his left eye, but what he could see out of his right was Olivia and Rebecca restraining Natalie who was fighting tooth and nail to get at him.
"No! You're lying! All of you are liars!" she screamed collapsing to her knees.
"Yugi, you delivered your message, now get out of here!" Serenity yelled throwing one of her knives at him. It nicked the skin by the corner of his eye before embedding itself in the wall. Needless to say, Yugi was scrambling to get out of there. He paused in the doorway though, tuning to the four girls.
"I'm sorry." He whispered and then flew out the door and back to his home.
He burst through the store door and collapsed there on the floor, not even bothering to shut the door behind him. He sounded like a wounded animal as he lay there crying. Didn't they realize how painful this was for him too? Didn't they realize she meant a lot to him too? She was practically a sister to him. A violent one at times, but still a sister. Was there nothing that the world wouldn't take from him? Was there no happiness in his future? No light on his horizon? There would certainly be no more looks from Mira that said, 'get up you lazy ass, you're stronger than this.' She always used to say that to him though, before they both got into Domino High. Especially after she heard that he was allowing himself to get beat up after school. He sniffed, as he wiped away his tears. He couldn't almost hear her whispering it in his ear now. Pushing himself up off the floor, he climbed the steps and walked down the hallway into his bedroom.
He grabbed the large suitcase, well it was more of a trunk really, that his Grandfather had bought him shortly after he got accepted into Tokyo U. He started to load it up with everything he owned. He didn't care what anyone said, he was going to that two week program. It's what everyone would have wanted for him anyway. It's what he deserved.
It was when he was pulling the pictures off of the walls that he paused over the ones of his parents. Something was scratching at the back of his mind. Something fighting to the surface. He shook his head as he continued to pull the pictures of them off of the walls. Still though, the inkling was there, nagging at him that something was off. Something was wrong. But what could possibly be wrong? These were his parents, his protectors until the age of three, they had been his world, his first kill even. Wait, where had that lost thought come from? He blinked a recent memory came to him.
"They look so familiar."
"They're my first kill…"
Yugi screamed, the sound having no words, but was filled with anguish and pain. He fell to his knees the tears starting anew. Was there nothing that that man hadn't taken from him? Was there no happiness in his life that he hadn't stolen? Ripped from him like he was a child again being told that his Mother and Father were never going to wake up. Were never going to walk through the front door again. Never hear another lullaby, or his father whistling, or even feel the little kicks his sister made when he put his hands on his Mother's belly.
He had begged to go to the park that day. No one had felt like it, but he had begged and pleaded. Finally his Father giving in, and then his Mother decided last minute that she wanted to go too. If he hadn't...would they still be…? He let out another scream. There was no one there for him now, and there never would be again.
Yugi stood up and pulled out his new gun. He dumped out the empty shells and refilled it. He was going to go human hunting tomorrow. He was going to light Atem up, and the bastard would never see it coming. He would never know the reason for his death. Yugi was just going to walk in there and shoot him. Someone would probably shoot him in retaliation, but he didn't care anymore. He had a vendetta to settle with the man, and he was going to settle it anyway he could.
[Marik]
They stalked through the warehouse where it was rumored that Satake was keeping the cookies. They moved silently, sneaking up behind people and slicing open their throats. They had learned how from their little truce with Mira's gang. They had one goal and one goal only, kill all who was in their way and retrieve their cookies. Finally they came across the room where they had been told the cookies were. Marik stepped forward and jimmied the lock, swinging it open silently. They weren't alone though.
Three Soldiers plus Takaido were standing there. Marik, and the seven Servants he brought with him, wasted no time in shooting all of them dead. They grabbed the five crates of cookies and left. Racing back through the territory, and shooting anyone they saw, civilian or gang member, they laid waste in their path. There weren't to be any witnesses. Marik ushered them all into an alleyway that led into their territory, and disappeared in its darkness.
[Satake]
"How!? How did this happen!?" he screamed as he viewed the empty room where he had been keeping the drugs that he had stolen from Atem. And that assassin hadn't reported back yet. What was his code name again? Satake couldn't recall. It didn't matter though, just so long as he did his job.
He threw a half full beer bottle at the wall, watching as it smashed against it, the liquid running down, and disturbing the dirt that lay there. There were no witnesses, no reports, nothing. He didn't have to be a genius to know who had taken them though. Mira didn't deal in drugs, and Atem had been looking for the ones that he had taken. So, he wanted to play dirty, he could too. Satake rounded up whatever gang members he had left and called a meeting.
"Ishizu and Kotsuzuka sit." He pointed to one of the worn couches.
"What's the meaning of this Captain? Some of us do have lives you know." One of the Soldiers sneered.
Bang!
"Do any more of you have lives?" Satake asked as the Soldier fell to the ground. No one answered, but there was a large amount of shaking heads.
"Good. Here's your mission. I want you to find Ryou Bakura, Malik Ishtar, and Yugi Mutou at my feet by this time tomorrow. Anyone who I find not looking for them will be shot. Any questions?"
The only sound was a shuffling of rushed feet as they all wanted to get away from him as soon as possible. Satake smirked, and turned to his General and Lieutenant. He sighed, as Ishizu was giving him an odd look.
"What do you want with my brother?"
"Nothing, I want the drugs his lover's boss stole from me."
"They took them back?" Kotsuzuka asked.
"It would appear so as they are no longer in our possession."
"You won't hurt him, will you?" Ishizu asked.
"No, I'll leave that to you. You were damn fucking good at beating him up." Satake said lighting a cigarette. Ishizu bowed her head, but whether it was out of shame or something else, he couldn't tell. It wasn't his problem, he had a gang to run.
[Malik]
They were running across the sidewalk. Their footfalls sounding loud on the slick pavement. They ran, trying, hoping they could get away, get somewhere safe. Amane was balanced on Ryou's hip, as they ran. Why? Why didn't they just stay at Atem's? Why did they have to go to Ryou's? What was so important that they weren't wanted around? They weren't going to make it though, they weren't going to make it.
"Run Ryou! Get Amane to a safe place!" Malik shouted stopping and preparing to face their pursuers.
"No! Malik, we can make it! Don't stop!" Ryou said grabbing his wrist and pulling him.
"No, go. Keep that little girl safe. Keep the Princess safe." Malik said giving him a push. Amane had tears in her eyes as she looked at him from over her brother's shoulder. Ryou, he shook his head letting out a faint whimper, his eyes screaming sorry, before he turned and started to run again. He turned and faced his advancing pursuers.
There were about ten Soldiers that had sprung out of nowhere and surrounded them. Malik had beaten down four of them giving Ryou and him the opening they needed to escape. They ran like hell, but the run for him was over. There were 20 pursuing them now, and Malik managed to take out three of them before he went down. Seven more had escaped past him after Ryou and Amane. He hoped they got away though. He hoped they were safe.
[Ryou]
Malik had been brave to throw himself in the crossfire for their little Princess. But his energy was wasted. He could hear his pursuers getting closer, could hear them catching up. He was nowhere near his house, but he was near Sam's. If he could just get Amane to that safe house, she would be protected for the rest of her days, he knew she would be. She would be loved, at the very least.
Using those thoughts as a life line, Ryou found an extra burst of speed and found himself pounding on Sam's door moments later. He knew he had momentarily lost the Soldiers, but it wouldn't last long. There was more of them than there was of him. If anything, they would split up to look for him. Sam came to the door finally, a long rifle poking out of the doorway. When he saw Ryou with Amane though, he lowered it looking slightly confused.
"Here, take her." Ryou said depositing his little sister in his arms.
"What's going on?" Sam asked dropping the gun to hold the girl properly.
"Take care of my little Princess. I love you, Amane, I love you so much. Grow up, go to college, and become something brilliant. Love her like you did your daughter, and remember this number, 25-6-18. It goes to a safe in our house. Take it, all of it, and leave town, just leave." Ryou said quickly as he heard shouts coming from nearby. He swallowed his fear, told Amane he loved her one more time, kissed her on the forehead and ran. He ran away from Sam's, hoping to draw their attention. It worked, they followed him, not even giving a second glance to Sam's closing door. Cutting off Amane's heart wrenching cries, which Ryou was sure would echo in his ears for as long as he lived. However, much longer that might be.
"Ry-Ry! Brudder! Ryou!"
The first time she said his name, and it was a cry for him to come back. He couldn't though, he couldn't put her in danger. One day she would understand, maybe. He hoped she would at least forgive him for abandoning her. It was the only way to keep her safe though, the only way to keep her alive.
Ryou ran until a searing pain seared through his right calf. He fell to the ground clutching his leg as blood seeped out of it. They had shot him. He kept his tears at bay, forcing himself to stay strong. To not appear weak, as one of them came up and yanked him to his feet. There was a sharp bit of pain on the back of his head, and all he saw after that was black. Amane was safe though, his world was safe.
[Yugi]
He fired at one Soldier with his gun, and whacked another over the head with his new steel bat. More kept coming though, it was a never ending stream of them. Like zombies from beyond the grave they never seemed to stop popping up. Where was Servants when you needed them? Morning over the loss of their King most likely.
He shot another two Soldiers, and smacked another three with the bat. He was out of bullets again. He fought off the Soldiers with his bat, fought them back enough to give him time to re-load his gun. It was as he was raising it again to shoot into the crowd that he noticed that a lot of them seemed to be distracted by something behind them.
That something made itself known as it fought its way towards him. It was Natalie. Blood was smeared across her face, clothes, arms, everywhere Yugi looked, he saw blood. She huffed as she slashed the last Soldier's throat, a dark look in her eyes as she approached Yugi, knife raised.
"Natalie?" Yugi questioned backing away.
"I don't care what they say. I still think you had something to do with my niece's death, so I'm taking your life for hers." Natalie growled.
Bang!
Yugi watched as she fell before him dead. The Police Block was going to kill him for this. He had to get out of town tomorrow. Kill Atem, and then get out of town. He heard a moan from down the hallway, and walked out towards it. One of the Soldiers was still alive. Yugi bent down next to him, flipping him over.
"Why were you attacking me?" Yugi asked.
"We were told by our Captain to bring you to him." He whispered blood trickling out of the corner of his mouth.
"Captain? That's Satake isn't it?"
"Yes, you and Ryou and Malik."
"Why?"
"Because they stole them back…the cookies…"
"Cookies? All this over some cookies? Don't they know they can just go to the store and buy some more?"
"Ha ha, cookies…as in drugs."
"Atem." Yugi growled.
"I never should've…joined him…"
Yugi looked back down at the Soldier to see his eyes go dark. He was gone. Yugi smashed his bat against the wall, putting a hole in the plaster. Fuck the gangs! Fuck all of them! He had been planning on giving this little gold mine to the family, but now with all the betrayal he felt bouncing around inside of him, now his plans had changed.
Yugi stomped back into his room and pulled his trunk out of his room. He dragged it across the many bodies lining the hallway, stairs, and his store floor. He showed no respect for them, not that he felt they deserved any. He put it in his Volkswagen, and went back inside. He grabbed some things from the store, kitchen, living room, and his Grandpa's room. He put them all in his back seat. He went once more into the store, hitting up the safe and cash register. He took out some gasoline that they had in the basement for when the Volkswagen decided it wanted to die on their front step. He poured some in every room, grabbed some matches and left the house. He made a trail out to his car, and threw the gas can away getting in. He backed the car out of the driveway, and parked it a ways down the street. He got back out and walked over to where the trail ended, and lit a match throwing it onto the liquid.
A trail of fire flew into the open door, lighting everything up. Yugi didn't give himself time to regret his decision as he threw the rest of the matches into the house quickly going up in flames. He walked back to his car, turned it around and drove towards Ryou's house. He had to make sure his friends were okay. He had to make sure they were safe.
He knew Malik would be, he was with Marik. But Ryou was defenseless, and he had Amane to worry about, it was him Yugi was concerned about most. Malik he was sure was fine.
[Malik]
He awoke to the sound of dripping pipes, and soft voices. He couldn't move, and one of his eyes was swollen shut. He heard a slight shuffle and a wince to his left. Turning his head he saw Ryou bound the same as he was. His one pant leg was ripped up to the top of his thigh, and Malik could see a white sloppy bandage peeking out of the tear. Ryou turned to him, giving him a small smile.
"Where's Amane?" Malik asked.
"Safe." Ryou whispered back.
"No talking." Someone ordered before they were both smacked across the face.
"How long does it take to get one kid?" someone growled. A door banged open from somewhere behind them.
"We better just deliver these two." Someone said walking forwards.
"Why?"
"The Mutou's house is up in flames."
"What?!" Malik screeched. Yugi!
"I said no talking." A shoe was jammed into his gut. Malik vomited before he could stop himself.
"No one is coming back from that place. Kid's probably dead too."
"Yeah, come on, get'em up. We deliver them tonight."
Whoo, what a ride. The next chapter is just as bloody as this one, and has even more vulgar language just a heads up. I have a poll on my page and it will remain up until I've finished mmml. There are only two choices, so choose the title you think sounds better. Thank you to everyone who have/are favorited/following this story. Also, thanks to everyone who reviewed Guest and user alike.
