CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT:
My eyes opened to Christian sprawled on the bed. He was chest down, his head lay on the pillow and one leg dangling off the bed. He looked peaceful and comfortable— which made me giggle.
I pulled the sheet off me and gradually attempted to get up without awakening him. He deserved to sleep in after what had happened between us last night. A whimper left my mouth when I tried to get off the bed. My body hurt. I was sore, but it was a good kind of sore. I was no longer a virgin. I bit my lip remembering what had happened. Christian had been so sweet and gentle with me. I'd never in a million years imagined I'd be here staring at my boyfriend. But that's what was happening, I was in love. Deeply, madly in love with Christian Grey. The man of my dreams.
My stomach grumbled and I was afraid the noise would wake him up. We'd jumped into bed last night without dinner and only a hearty lunch would fix the hunger. Bacon, pancakes and all the fixings.
I walked to the closet needing something to wear. I was thankful Ethan had brought my belongings and I could wear something sexy for Christian, something other than his t-shirts. I went through my bags until I saw tacked at the back of the closet my fathers briefcase. The black leather briefcase that held my father's belongings. Perhaps the last things he used before he died? I wanted to see them. To hold on to them and remember him.
I quickly grabbed my dark blue floral sundress and pulled it over my head. When I was dressed, I once again grabbed the briefcase. I was ready to smash into it. I wonder if I could find a hammer around here? I was determined to look for something to help me open it.
"Ana?" Christian's raspy voice came through the room and to the closet. My heart skipped a beat at knowing we were about to do the day after our first-time conversation.
"Yes?" I put back the briefcase and came out of the closet. He looked delightful. He had turned around and I could see his naked chest. He was covered from the waist down, but I could see the happy trail of hair that I'd grown to love.
"Food." he murmured half asleep still.
I laughed. "I was thinking the same."
His eyes finally opened and he stared at me, "You look so beautiful come here." he called for me and I didn't hesitate. I sat next to him on the bed and with one easy move he had me laying on the bed with his arms wrapped around me.
"I think I need you more than food," he whispered into my ear and I felt a shiver down my spine. My body needing him as much as he needed me, but I knew I needed to give my body time to heal also. "What's wrong?" he asked as he could tell something was bothering me.
"I'm just a little sore." I felt my cheeks turn red.
"Oh Ana, I'm sorry. I hope I wasn't too rough with you." he kissed the back of my head as I was tucked into his arms. "Then we should get food. How about we go out and grab a bite?" he asked.
I took a moment to run that through my head. Could I do a public place to eat? I'd changed too much of my life too quickly that the simple idea of going out to eat scared me. "Can we order in?"
"Of course we can," he told me understanding me. "How about you take a bath while I order? It will help you with the soreness."
"That really does sound great."
Christian kisses my head one more time and stood up. "Let me set it up for you." my eyes went wide when I saw how handsome he really was. I felt the heat crept up my body as I watched him walk away naked. I heard the water running and I felt so lucky to have met such a loving man.
"Can you please pass me the Tabasco sauce?" I asked Christian sitting in the middle of the living room. He'd order us burgers and fries and they were delicious.
"So I'm guessing you really like spicy food since you've drench the damn burger with the sauce." he laughed. His laugh was one of the sexiest laughs I'd ever heard.
"I guess you can say I have a very high tolerance for hot sauce." I dipped one of my fries into the sauce and pushed it in my mouth. "Do you like hot food?"
"I don't mind it. I actually stayed in New Mexico for a while and I grew used to Mexican food. There was a little restaurant that had amazing tacos de canasta."
"Tacos of what-"
"Tacos de canasta. They are made for breakfast. They are simple tasty tacos made of meat and then fried with pork lard." he told me as he took a bite of his burger.
"They sound interesting. How long did you live in New Mexico?" I asked soaking in all the information he was sharing with me.
"About six months that was my first stop after Seattle," he added and I could tell he was starting to feel more comfortable with sharing.
"Have you been to a lot of places?"
He shrugged, "I guess more than the usual person."
"Which place was your favorite?" I asked needing to know more.
"Athens, Alabama," he smirked at me.
I smiled, "Do I have anything to do with that?"
"Perhaps." he nonchalantly said.
"Only perhaps?" I giggle.
Christian put down his burger and closed the space between us, "More then perhaps, you have given me the second chance in life that I've prayed for."
I kissed him feeling my heart beating fast. The four words were threatening to escape my mouth. Yet, I was afraid I would scare him away if I did let them out. So instead, I pulled away and picked up my burger again. "This is delicious, thank you again." I took a bite of my burger so I wouldn't tell him that I was in love with him.
